New Lipsticks!

I am still not over my lipstick craze, if anything, I think it has gotten worse. This time, I opted for a few peachier, more summery lipsticks. I've been on the hunt for a bright coral lipstick for the summer and I finally found it.

I've never been one to wear matte lipsticks but I really like the formulation and color selection of the Revlon lipsticks. This color is a good choice if you are looking for a semi nude shade that will not completely wash your lips out.

I absolutely love this coral color and I definitely know it'll be one of my favorites this summer. The color is beautiful and not too orange, which is a problem some coral lipstick shades have. You can also really build it up if you want a super bright lip color or you can lightly dab it on your lips for a slight tint.

These lipsticks are amazingly pigmented and overall really great. I think Revlon is hands down one of the best (if not the best) drugstore brand and their lipsticks are always amazing quality. I got them for roughly $4.50 at my local Walmart which is actually significantly cheaper than other drugstores I have checked out.

Mini Drugstore Haul

I originally just walked in for a cleanser and a foundation, and this is what happened. I regret nothing! v(^.^)/

I needed a new cleanser and I decided to give this a try. I haven't really used it yet because I'm using up the last bit of my current cleanser but I'll keep you guys posted.

I've been on the lookout for a new foundation and I've heard nothing but great things about this one, and I agree. I love this! It is a bit too dark for me right now, but it matches my skin perfectly when I sheer it out with a bit of moisturizer. I'll use it a bit more and maybe dedicate a full blog post to it, but I am absolutely loving it so far.

My hands have been so dry lately. This lotion is one I've used since I was a baby. It is amazingly thick and moisturizing. Love it.

I've been on the lookout for a perfect taupe eye shadow and this one is amazing! I was originally going to buy Covergirl's Tapestry Taupe, but this one was slightly less shimmery so I decided to go for this one instead.

I wasn't planning on buying nail polish, but how could I resist this? It reminds me of confetti and I can't wait to try it out!

I don't really have any pink lipsticks and since there was a sale, I decided to go for it and buy 2. The first one is a bit more berry pink, the second one, I am absolutely in love with! It looks super gorgeous and bright and it is just perfect for summer.

They didn't come out perfect but I really like them. With a bit of practice I think I can make the ombre effect more noticeable, but I really like how it looks right now regardless.

DIY: Tinted Lip Balm

I bought this NYC blush a while back for a couple of dollars. Unfortunately, it is one of the worse blushes I have ever bought! The pigmentation is horrible and it is super powdery. I didn't want to just throw it out so I decided to turn it into a lip balm.

WHAT YOU NEED:

1. Put Vaseline in the travel jar. (I got a set of 2 for $1 at Walmart.)

2. Scrape the blush into the Vaseline.

3. Mix, mix, mix!

4. The final product should look something like this...

This color honestly isn't amazing, but it does give a pretty, neutral shine. I have also tried this with a variety of blush/eye shadow colors and even food coloring. It is a great way to use up some products that maybe aren't as good as we wanted them to be. Feel free to mix and match and experiment with different colors.

I've tried this before and I really liked it for my under eye circles. The specific color I picked is way to light for me to use for any other imperfections in my face, but again, it works wonders on under eye circles.

Revlon Lip Butters
Most of the lip butters were sold out by the time I got there so I ended up getting these 2 (the last ones). I got Peach Parfait and Berry Smoothie. I LOVE THESE! Peach Parfait is definitely my favorite. It has some glitter (not chunky) that just makes your lips look lovely. I will definitely buy myself some more of these!

March Favorites!

Good-bye March! Hello April and Spring! Although I personally love Winter but I must admit that I am super excited about Spring this year. I don't know why, maybe I am just growing as a person, maybe I just want school to be over, the latter one being more likely...

Anyway, because I am a broke university student, I have been cutting back on my spending for the last three months. I have to admit that this has allowed me to fall in love with some amazing, inexpensive products that are honestly super amazing. (I don't think that sentence made sense at all, but you get what I mean. They are AMAZING.)

1. SKIN79 Super+Beblesh Balm Triple Functions.

Whew~ that's a mouthful! I love this BB Cream because it offers more coverage than the average tainted moisturizer but less than a foundation. It is perfect for everyday wear: it is dewy, long-lasting and super light. Downside: It is a bit light and comes off grey when you first apply it, but it eventually blends in to your skin tone. I definitely don't recommend this if you have a dark-ish medium to dark complexion, but if you are a bit on the lighter side and are looking for a great everyday staple this is perfect. It originally retails for $28 on the official website, but I bought mine online for $13.88 on amazon. You do have to be careful when you buy it online as many people try to sell fakes!

2. Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer

This is hands down my new favorite concealer. I won't talk much about it here since I already wrote about it here. In short, amazing drugstore concealer: good coverage, long-lasting, and under $10.

3. Revlon Matte Lipstick in Wine Not

I know that with Spring comes bright lipstick colors, I know but I can't help but love this lipstick. Granted because it is spring I don't wear it everyday, but I love wearing it on days I go out because it just looks so sophisticated and edgy. You can get this at any drugstore for roughly $7.

I didn't really prep my lips so it looks a bit creased...sorry guise!

4. Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Rum Raisin (Discontinued)

I actually "borrowed" this lipstick from my mom but I didn't really wear it until the beginning of this year, and oh my gosh do I love it! This is a perfect everyday, reddish lip color. It is perfect if you want to wear a slightly red lip without it being super bright. I know it doesn't really look red in the tube, but when it comes off on the lips it has a slight reddish tint. I have no idea why they discontinued this line because the lipsticks are super moisturizing and slightly glossy. I had to hunt it down online because my current lipstick is running dangerously low. You can buy it here for $4.94, free shipping!

5. e.l.f. Essentials Brightening Eye Color in Butternut and Ivy

I'm not one to wear eye shadow on an everyday basis, but I have been lately and these two mini palettes are have been my go-to palettes. They have impressive pigmentation and durability for products that cost $1 and they are super tiny so they are easy to carry around for touch-ups. Loving them! They are holding me on until I decide to spurge and buy the Naked 2 palette. You can get them at any Target or online at the e.l.f. website...oh and did I mention that they are only $1?! Yeah? Oh well.

6. CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in Champagne

Amazing eye shadow; perfect for brightening your inner tear duct (?), everyday eye shadow, or for using as a highlight in both your eyes and face. CoverGirl eye enhancer are amazing and affordable too; I will definitely buy more in the future. Retails for about $4 at drugstores.

I only swatched the colors I actually use from the e.l.f. palettes. The Champagne eye shadow looks a lot more white in the pictures... :\

7. Hard Candy Blush Crush Baked Blush in Living Doll

Perfect every day pink blush. Granted it does have a bit of shimmer so stay away if you don't like that, but otherwise it does give a very healthy glow to the cheeks. I normally tend to stay away from pinkier blushes but March has been full of new makeup experienced for me so, there you go. Retails for about $7 at Walmart.

8. Dove Nourishing Oil Shampoo

I have gone back to an old favorite of mine; Dove shampoo. Dove shampoo for some reason acts with my hair extremely well and always leaves my hair super soft and shiny. This time I decided to try the new line of shampoos and I love them as much as the original. This is definitely a line you might want to try if you have dry, damaged hair. It has been working really well for me and while it doesn't make my split ends disappear, it does make them less noticeable. Retails for about $8 at most drugstores.

I have been on the hunt for a perfect concealer for the last few months and I have finally come across one that comes close to perfection...at least for me anyway. I have suffered from mild to moderate acne since my Freshman year of high school and honestly, being 19 years old now, I thought that my skin would have balanced out by now but unfortunately, it hasn't.
For the last few months my skin has gotten worse and breakouts and blemishes have been appearing on my cheeks and around my chin as opposed to before when they only appeared on my forehead. I much prefer the ones on the forehead to be honest since they can be covered with bangs as opposed to the ones I have now.
I like to do my research when I buy a product, but I don't think I've ever done this much research for a makeup product before but in the end it was worth it. Although the concealer I had originally opted to get was the Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer ($25, Available at Sephora) after a bit more research I decided to get the Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer ($6, Available at Walmart) instead.

Pros: Cons:

~long lasting ~costs more

~wide array of colors ~slightly lighter coverage

~no creasing

The Concealer Pencil is also perfect when you want to wear dramatic red lips.

Pros: Cons:

~long lasting ~only available in three colors

~good coverage ~dries quickly

~affordable price ~slight creasing if not set properly

***Note: I've found that it works best if you put the concealer on first and then blend it out with your foundation.***

I like to try out certain products before I decide to buy them (if possible) and see how they work on my skin first, which is what I did with the Kat Von D concealer, and while I liked it, I did not immediately fall in love with it. Compared to the Hard Candy concealer, it is considerably thinner and needs a bit more product to get the desired coverage I want whereas you only need the absolute smallest amount of the Hard Candy concealer to get the desired coverage. I'd say their lasting power is about the same, which is something a bit shocking considering the price difference. The Kat Von D concealer does come in a wider array of colors as opposed to the Hard Candy one that only comes in three. If you have milder imperfections or you don't need a lot of coverage and are willing to spend the $25 I think the Kat Von D is a good choice but if you need a heavier coverage or have dark circles I suggest you try out the Hard Candy concealer first.

This new album they just released a while ago did not disappoint me but this song has to be one of my favorites from the album. Although not everyone can understand the song, you can still feel the emotions in the song and as for the lyrics, well...you can always just google the translation.

I personally love cooking and baking. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time for it anymore. This weekend, however, I managed to find some time to cook something simple. I made churros and mac n' cheese! ^^

Weird combination, I know, but I actually ate them separately and not together. I didn't have a lot of time and the churros took up more time than I had expected them to so I had to make myself a quick lunch.

The churros were absolutely perfect alongside a warm cup of coffee. I will definitely need to find time to make these when it finally begins to rain. Eating churros with a warm cup of coffee while listening to the rain outside...oh how wonderful it will be!

Thrift Store Finds!!

This post is super late, but school started and it started with a bang, I already have two midterms next week! Any way, there are honestly not many thrift stores in my town except for the typical Goodwill, Savers and The Salvation Army, and I ended up going to Goodwill. Most of the items I bought were about $3-$5...unfortunately I don't really remember the exact prices. Without further ado, this is what I found:

over-sized jean shirt

I've been wanting one of these for a while. It can look great by itself with a waist belt and jeggings, or over dresses to give them a casual feel.

This particular shirt I bought because I wanted to transform it into this:

I actually love to sew, but I am not confident enough in my skills to properly do this so I might ask my mother to help me a bit for this.

This shirt is actually a lot nicer in person. I think I'll wear it with a high-waisted skirt of high-waisted pants and it'll look amazing!

I have actually worn this already and I love it. The problem I have with this is that the fabric becomes wrinkled very easily, which is inconvenient but I still like it. I wore it with jeggings and a skinny red belt, a girl at the mall actually complemented me on it and asked where I bought it. :)

This was my last purchase. I really wanted an oversized sweater and I really loved this one when I saw it. It was love at first sight.

It seems that my mantra for this trip ended up becoming oversized. I got everything oversized!! I am disappointed I didn't find any maxi skirts or any good jewelry but I am still happy with my purchases.

I also stopped by a Starbucks near the store.

On my way out I took a picture of a squirrel on a tree. It was eating and I thought it was adorable so I snapped a picture. I think it actually posed for me. I met a super model squirrel!!

I have decided to spend all of Sunday cruising through as many thrift stores in town as I can. One of these days I'll convince my best friend to go with me to check out the thrift stores in San Francisco. I live so close, and yet it feels so far away...

Honestly, there aren't many in my area but I want to check out the few that are.

August Favorites

These are the products I have been loving this August. I considered doing a general August favorites, including, clothes, accessories, food, etc... but then decided against it since you guys might not be able to find them I thought I'd just stick to beauty products.

A lot of these are e.l.f products because I recently spent a whopping $25 on their products. I know that $25 doesn't sound like it'll go through a lot, even in drugstores and especially not in places like MAC or Sephora, but most e.l.f. products are less than $5 so I got a considerable amount of makeup there. I was speculating that the products we OK but they far surpassed my expectations with the quality.

1. organiX Nourishing Coconut Milk Split Ends Mender

You guys know I love this line and I actually have a post on it here. As I have grown my hair out really long (it is all the way down to my lower back) I have also been cursed with split ends. I have put off going to get a hair cut mostly because hairstylists have the tendency to get way to excited and chop off way too much hair off. Because of my reluctance, I have some split ends right now. I am trying to find a better hairstylist than my previous one (chopped off 5 inches the last time I went) in my area, but I have not found one yet. I am using this product to control my problem at the moment. It doesn't necessarily make split ends disappear, the only solution for that is to chop them off, but it does reduce their appearance a bit. I just put some on the ends of my hair after a shower and voila!

2. Double Nature Perfume in Sexy (Black) by Jafra

This perfume I actually got as a gift and I absolutely love it. It is from catalog company (kind of like Avon) and I actually have 3 of the Double Nature perfumes, Cool (blue pictured above), Tender(hot pink) and Sexy (black). I had to put the blue one up there because I found no picture of the black one. To me this is a perfect summer perfume. It is light, sweet and flowery. It reminds me a bit of the Daisy Eau So Fresh perfume, not necessarily that it smells exactly like it but it is a bit similar.

3. e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

This blush with bronzer is perfect for the summer! I, like most people, got tanner this summer and this combo just looks really good. The colors are comparable to the NARS Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer. You guys know I don't usually buy super expensive makeup but I actually have tried both NARS products from my friends and cousins who have them, and I find them to be comparable, maybe not as high quality of course but they are pretty nice inexpensive dupes.

I tried taking some swatches for you guys. They aren't the best but I thought these would help.

4. N.Y.C.Ultra Moist Lipstick in Sheer Red & Retro Red

I have been using this for a pop of color. I am in love with red lipstick! This is my favorite to wear mostly during hotter climate. This is moist and moisturizing. Like the name suggests it is rather sheer but definitely buildable, however for the summer I prefer to wear it a bit sheer. For a brighter look, Retro Red is definitely perfect (I forgot to include it in here).

5. Revlon Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude

I have been in love with nude lips lately and I purchased this lipstick back in May. I have to admit that when I first bought it, I regretted it. It acts like a concealer on my lips. It blends too easily with the rest of my face, but I loved the formula so I decided not to give up on it. I am glad I didn't!! It looks absolutely gorgeous with a bit of my lip balm from e.l.f (which I will talk about shortly) or my Rimmel London Vinyl Bronze lip gloss in Summer Nude over it.

6. e.l.f. Conditioning Lip Balm with SPF 15 in Mellow Melon

I have been using this practically every day, except on the days I wore the lipsticks of course. I love this. It is moisturizing and I love that it gives a bit of color as opposed to being clear. I have to say though that when I first opened it and smelled it, it smelled like Play Doh! After a few uses though it begins to smell like vanilla. I am personally not a fan of vanilla scents because most of the time they are too overpowering and they actually make me nauseated (not over-exaggerating). This one however, isn't over powering at all and it tastes great as well. I am actually going to buy a few more colors of these soon.

7. Maybelline New York Fit Me! Foundation in 120

I wanted to try this foundation sine it came out and after trying it out this month I have to say I love it! It is the perfect foundation for a dewy look. It didn't brake me out and it stays on for a pretty long time. It is definitely a lot lighter that the ones I am used to but even though it is watery it has really good coverage. I actually mix it in with my moisturizer to use as more of a tinted moisturizer and not a foundation but it still has really good coverage. I used to have oily skin but now it's actually rather dry so I am not sure how it would look for oily skin since it is so dewy...

8. L'oreal H.i.P Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Black

Usually my go to look for everyday is a winged eye. This eyeliner is my favorite. It lasts forever, highly pigmented and it doesn't smear. This is definitely not for beginners though since it sets pretty fast, but if you have a steadier hand this is perfect for you.

9. e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Golden

I love this! I have been using it almost everyday to brighten my inner eye area and it is so pretty. It does have a tendency to feel flaky when you get it on the brush but it goes on really nicely when you actually apply it on your eye. It last a pretty long time and it doesn't smudge. I have also used it as an eye shadow. I also have it in Purple and it is really pretty as well but I have not used it enough this month to put in in my favorites.

Style Inspiration: Yoon Eun Hye (Go Ah Jung)

I have wanted an olive trench coat from the moment I started watching Lie to Me. I absolutely love Go Ah Jung's style in that it is very chic and professional, yet also very comfortable and flowy.

While this is honestly not the chicest piece by itself, it can definitely be dressed up. It is also perfect for everyday and rainy days.

While her style may not appeal to all, as everything is rather baggy and shapeless, to me it is something that can be worn on days when you just don't wake up on the right side of the bed. It is like a chic upgrade on sweats and a t-shirt and I absolutely love it!

I have searched high and low in stores here in the states for months (even thrift shops) and I have found nothing. Again this might have been due to the fact that it was summer and stores don't usually sell these pieces in the summer. Now that it is almost Autumn, however, I have found a couple of places that sell these.

Yesstyle.com has a variety but I think this one is my favorite. It is a bit pricey ($105) and I honestly don't want to spend that much money on just one piece of clothing right now. So as happy as I was actually finding it, my search continued, still keeping hope, and I stumbled into a similar jacket closer to home. Oh how I love you Forever21!! Yet, I am sad to say that although it is cheaper ($32.80) I like the yesstyle jacket more. The Forever21 jacket is thinner and will likely only be good for the rest of the summer and beginning of Autumn, while the yesstyle jacket appears thicker so it could be worn during the Autumn and Winter. Although I guess for $70 less it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to just wear a cardigan underneath, right?

I'm honestly still battling it out in my head right now. I don't know which one to get. What do you guys think? Yesstyle or Forever21?

I have been lusting to have these lip balms for a while now and can you blame me? They are absolutely adorable! They are by an extremely popular Korean make-up brand Etude House. I am a very avid k-pop fan, to say the least and I have been keeping tabs of this brand for a while. There are so many thing I want to try out but these are my #1 on the list. From the research I have done, these are very moisturizing, true to color, and smell great.
They retail for about $12 US Dollars, which is honestly really expensive for a lip balm, but I still want want them so much. &amp;gt;.&amp;lt;
I have found a couple of good sellers on eBay that sell them from $4.99-$8.48 depending on which one you get, and although I am tempted to get one, my wallet doesn't allow me to at the moment. (I am spending about $450 on textbooks this semester TT__TT) But I guess for now I'll just stick with my elf tinted lip balm, which is amazing by the way, just not as cute. ($3)

Braids! They are absolutely versatile and and can give your hair a boost when needed. I personally love braids and though I come up with different hair styles throughout the year I find myself braiding my hair most in the summer. Yes, I know, summer is technically almost over; however, seeing as it was actually hotter in late August to late September last year (and it appears to be going that way this year too) I will be braiding my hair a lot in the Fall too.

Braids are absolutely perfect for back-to-school as well. They make it look like you spent an hour on your hair in the morning when in reality you might only spend 5 minutes.

DIY Green Tea Sheet Mask

I love trying out organic, home remedies and this one happens to be one of my favorites.

Green tea is has been proven to have great benefits for your body. It has natural antioxidants that not only help strengthen our bodies defenses and help in weight loss, but it is also amazingly effective on the skin, as it is commonly used in a large variety of skin treatments.
This mask is ridiculously easy to do, and it is perfect for a stay-in night.

What You Need:

1. One small packet of organic green tea.

2. Lukewarm water.

3. A tea cup.

4. A tissue mask (you can buy or make this yourself.)

5. Scissors.

Instructions:

1. First brew the tea. It is best if the tea is lukewarm since the steam will open up your pores. Just make sure the water isn't too hot. Don't burn yourself!

You don't need that much tea so be sure not to make a cupful.

2. Next, get the face mask and out it i the tea. You can buy a face mask like I did or you can make your own using regular kitchen disposable towels (thicker ones like Bounty are preferable) and cut eye, mouth, and nose slits. Let the mask soak for 5-10 minutes.

3. Right before you take the mask out of the tea, cut the teabag from the top.

4. Open the mask and put the tea leaves on it. Then place the mask on your face until the tea completely evaporates and the mask is dry.

5. After it is completely dry just wash your face with cold water and you are done!

WARNING!

As the mask dries so do the tea leaves so be careful not to move around a lot. I have had the tea leaves fall in my eyes frequently because of this.

Olsenboye Floral Backpack (available at JC Penney)

Bought this online a couple days ago. I saw it in the store a couple weeks ago and I regretted not buying it then. When I went to pick it up at the store they actually only had the black one but as lovely as the black one is, I prefer the brown one. Luckily for me, it was on sale online a couple of days ago and instead of buying it for $40 I got it for $27!!

I must say that I have been loving my luck recently! I have found so many great things on sale lately, surprising since I usually have the worst of luck.

It has been years since I have worn a backpack, I now prefer taking large purses to class, but when I saw this adorable backpack I just had to have it. Although normally these kind of backpacks tend to run a little small, I actually saw this one in the store and it is large enough to hold my notebooks and a few textbooks. Granted it isn't as big as the Jansport backpack I wore in high school, but I have to carry less now in college so that is fine with me.
