I was getting this error every 10-15 mins on my iphone, which would drain my battery, so i was looking for some fix. There were lots of people talking about hardware issue, charger problem, version problem . I tried a lot of things but what worked for me is replacing the iapd file. The instructions on how to do that is given here.

The only issue I had was I was unable to get the "wget" from my cydia and I added the source to my cydia sources http://cydia.myrepospace.com/etgamingx/

How to extract .daa files free (Windows)

.daa extension (Direct Access Archives) is a proprietary format by PowerISO, used commonly toarchive large ISO files (ISO is a disk image format that you can burn to a disk using Nero or any other burner). .DAA files format has features like compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes.

DAA files can be opened by PowerISO, but unfortunately, it is free to use only for small files. Many file .daa that you get over the internet, especially those from Linux users, or file-sharing services (like BitTorrent) will be in DAA format.

This tutorial will show you how open .daa files for free on Windows. Extracting .daa extension files require two steps – converting the DAA file to an ISO file, and then burning the ISO file to a disc orextracting the ISO to get the required files.

Open DAA files on Windows

To get .daa files open in Windows, follow the steps below (screenshots have been included for your convenience). We will convert the DAA file to ISO format first. You can then extract files from the ISO file using IZArc (which we will do below) or burn it to a disc.
1. Download DAA 2 ISO from this page. Save it to Desktop. Extract (by double-clicking) the zip folder to get a folder named daa2iso.
2. Open the folder. There are two files named daa2iso.

3. Double-click the daa2iso file with a label application to the right side (and has a colorful icon), You will get a command prompt along with a window to choose your files.

Double-click the .daa file you need to extract.

4. In the window that comes up, enter a file name and hit Save.

5. The file will be extracted in a few seconds (it takes more time if you have a larger file). The command prompt window will appear with the confirmation

6. Hit enter key to quit the command prompt. The converted .iso file will be saved in the same location as the original .daa file.
7. If you have 7Zip, open it and extract the ISO file. Else, follow the next step.
8. Download and install IZArc.
9. Open Computer and navigate to where you saved the .iso file (which is where you saved the original .daa file also).
10. Right-click the file and click IZArc > Extract to .\ where stands for your file
11. You will now have the files extracted into a folder of the same name as the .iso file, in the same location.

Want to convert Word document(.doc) to Adobe Actobat(.PDF) document. Use this free online tool. As of now this utility works only for .Doc files and NOT .docx files.

To remove a single hyperlink without losing the display text or image, right-click the hyperlink, and then click Remove Hyperlink.

To remove all hyperlinks in a document, press CTRL+A to select the entire document and then press CTRL+SHIFT+F9.

Delete Pictures from Microsoft Word document

Deleting pictures one-by-one in a word document can be painful. This can be done by using find and replace option in Microsoft Word.

1. Do Find and Replace (CTRL+H) in Microsoft Word.
2. Enter ^g in the “Find what” box.
3. Enter whatever you want to replace with in the “Replace with” box or leave blank to simply delete all the images.
4. Click “Replace All.” to replace all images or "Replace" to replace some.

This will only remove inline graphics to remove floating graphics/images, please take a look at the macro as below and mentioned in Google Groups Topic

Sometimes we scan some documents and create a pdf to send it in email. But the pdf document is not straight, you want to rotate it clockwise or counter clockwise. It is hard to do if you don’t have Adobe writer. The best thing to do then is upload the file to a website called RotatePDF.net which allows you to rotate the file in clockwise or anticlockwise direction for free. The limit is 10MB for a file. If you have a file bigger than 10MB break the file into 2 files using PDFTK(again free).

Gmail provides around 7GB of storage free. Upload your pictures to Gmail using GMail Drive extension. GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium. Installing this will create a folder in your Windows explorer where you can copy all the photos, which then will be emailed to your GMAIL account you sign in with. Create a filter to move all those photos to a Label for easily locating. Now in case you want to see all the photos or create a catalog of photos, use showzey as shown in this post. iphone time zone sync for Calendars

I faced a problem recently on my iphone 3G. When I sync my iPhone with a Microsoft Outlook Calendar the appointmens in my Iphone are an hour later, I am in CST(Central Time) but the iphone is showing the EST(Eastern Time). And it was both ways, if I set a calendar item in iPhone, it will show an hour later in Outlook calendar the originating from Outlook showup on my iPhone as an hr later than what it was on Outlook. I checked the settings> General > Date and Time for time zone which was correctly set to CST.

Example - Outlook appointment 1:00 p.m. after syncing with iPhone the same appointment on my iPhone is shows as 2:00 p.m(Stays the same on Outlook)

With the Iphone 3G you can fix the time zones by:
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Scroll down to Claendar- Time Zone Support
4. Change the time zone to your time zone.

Ever wondered which part of the world the website is hosted. Maxmind.com is a website that stores the information of the city where the website is hosted, also tells longitude, latitude, Internet service Provider, metro code, area code if available. Like in the link above if you click it will show where website tehelka.com is hosted from.

Trying to upload a .doc file(microsoft word) on Google Docs which is more than 500kb and Google won't allow you to upload the file. Convert the file to .PDF using a free online tool http://www.doc2pdf.net/. This tool requires you to give the file path of your doc File and it will convert the file for you in couple seconds, so you can download. Other options for coversion are from .doc to .odt(open document Text). After the conversion was done I was able to upload the .PDF(Adobe Portable Document Format) in Google docs.

How to handle a call when you don't know the answer

If you don't know the answer to what customer/consumer is asking and you work at the support center, what would you do ? I would think that you put the customer on hold while you fetch the answer. But something strange happened with me, I called 1 877 247 5150 Airtel customer service number. The guy "Vishal" at Customer Service Center at Airtel Call Home (airtelcallhome.com-A service for people to call India) hung up on me, literally he hung up on me. First the airtel guys are spamming me with the junk email and on top of that the customer service representative don't want to do anything about it. Understood, it could be a technical fault. But atleast note the problem down and escalate it to the department you think would be able to resolve. I have so far received 52 emails from Airtel since morning. Good People is all it matters to keep the company name up.

Delete a file or folder from windows which is locked

I was getting an error everytime I tried deleting a file or folder on my desktop saying "Cannot delete, file is being used by some other program". I tried multiple things like trying to delete it from Command Prompt and explorer, but of no use.

This is how I got through to delete the file. I downloaded Unlocker a free utility. After installing, I right clicked on the file or folder to delete and then click Unlock and then I was able to delete the file .

The same step can be used to delete folder. Hope this helps.

Autocomplete directory Path on Run Command or explorer window for Windows PC

Whenever I have to go to a directory I usually use Start menu > Run command and type in the directory.

A while back I changed something and didn't realize that my directory path is not giving me suggestions or say auto completing the path. In other words, I was not getting the drop down where it says or auto completes the rest of the folder path or directory path.

So, solution to this is
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete
3. The window that opens up check the forms checkbox and click Ok.

This should now help you autocomplete directory path from Run Command or Explorer window.

This is weird how Internet explorer setting controls the windows setting.

Change the name of iPhone

So, I wanted to change the name on my iPhone from Manish's Iphone to London. At one point I thought it is not possible as on the right hand side on iTunes it is all grayed out and you cannot change it. So, to change the name of Iphone,

1. Select the iphone under Devices on the left hand side on the iTunes.

2. Either click on your name or press F2 key. The name will appear in a edit box to be edited.

3. Change the name to your desired name and Click any place else on iTunes to save it.

I recently got Vado pocket video HD Camcorder. The nice thing is you can take HD quality videos anywhere you want with the convenience to keep the camcorder in pocket. But now I have multiple short videos of my 8 month old. I was looking for something to attach these avi's into one big avi and ofcourse free. So I found one here. Now this is ridiculous, I have seen this movie multiple times. Suniel Shetty, Paresh rawal, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Tusshar Kapoor and lot more. This is really a must watch movie. I am not sure why the reviews are so bad, Taran Adarsh and all others are giving such bad reviews for the movie. Just look at the original things in the movie, like this song "Itni mehnat karke hi har podha banta hai tree" and calling boss "Papa" and adding "s" at end of each word by Mukesh. I think this is a very good movie. Parts of it are boring but the whole 3 laxmi narayan thing is good. All the characters did justice to the role.Ofcourse Tanisha, Upen and Esha Deol are waste in the movie. Great performance by Mukesh Tiwari, Suniel Shetty, Paresh rawal, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Pahwa. I will give this movie 3/5 stars.
