Dit brandstofcelmodel heeft volgens de gegevens van de constructeur namelijk een rijbereik van meer dan 800 kilometer met een volle waterstoftank. Het geheim van zijn polyvalentie: de MEA-module (Membrane Electrode Assembly). De Japanse ingenieurs hebben zich toegelegd op het probleem dat het intern geproduceerde water bij lage temperaturen interfereert met de productie van elektriciteit in de MEA. Door deze problematiek te omzeilen zijn ze erin geslaagd het gebruik van een brandstofcelauto in moeilijke klimatologische omstandigheden te vergemakkelijken. Deze Toyota kan namelijk ook starten en rijden in een koude omgeving, tot bij temperaturen van -30 graden Celsius.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Het rijbereik waarmee deze 122 pk en 260 Nm sterke brandstofcelauto uitpakt, is ongezien. Met zijn 156 liter waterstof, die wordt opgeslagen onder een druk van 70 MPa (700 bar), kan de FCHV-adv 830 kilometer afleggen, tegenover maximaal 330 kilometer voor de basis-FCHV met 148 liter. De topsnelheid bedraagt 155 km/h. Dit resultaat is te danken aan de verbeterde prestaties van de brandstofceleenheid en van het systeem dat de remenergie recupereert. De ingenieurs hebben er ook aan gedacht om het hulpsysteem zuiniger te laten omspringen met energie. In eerste instantie wordt die leverbaar met de 1.5 van 109 pk, de 1.8 van 143 pk en de 2.0-turbodiesel van 140 pk, maar in de loop van volgend jaar krijgen deze drie krachtbronnen het gezelschap van een volledig nieuwe diesel, die dan niet meer uit de VW-stal afkomstig zal zijn. &lt;br /&gt;

Tegelijkertijd introduceert Mitsubishi een nieuwe sportieve variant, de Ralliart. Die wordt aangedreven door een tweeliter-viercilinder van 240 pk en 343 Nm (in feite een toegeknepen versie van de motor van de Evolution), gekoppeld aan de Twin Clutch SST-versnellingsbak met dubbele koppeling en een actief centraal differentieel. Het koppel stijgt met 15 procent van 650 Nm naar 750 Nm bij 1.750 o/m. Daarmee is de Flying Spur Speed in staat om in 4,8 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/h te sprinten en een top te bereiken van 322 km/h. Deze superluxueuze vierdeursberline kreeg een met 10 millimeter verlaagd chassis, een hardere ophanging, een zwaarder stuur en een minder snel ingrijpend ESP. Allemaal met het oog op een dynamische rijstijl. Overigens werd ook de rest van het Flying Spur-gamma herzien, niet alleen op esthetisch vlak, maar ook qua uitrusting en rijkwaliteiten.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
De "gewone" versie van de Flying Spur raakt niet aan het vormogen van de W12 biturbo. Met zijn 560 pk sprint hij in 5,2 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/h 5 en haalt hij een topsnelheid van 312 km/h. Een van de innovaties van deze facelift is de adaptieve snelheidsregelaar met radar en ?follow-to-stop?-functie, die het mogelijk maakt om een vooraf ingestelde afstand tot een voorligger te handhaven. De remschijven werden aangepast om hun levensduur te verlengen en als optie zijn zelfs carbonceramische exemplaren leverbaar. Het onderstel onderging trouwens nog talrijke andere wijzigingen en ook het uitlaatsysteem werd herzien. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ook op esthetisch vlak werd de Flying Spur onder handen genomen. Onze landgenoot Dirk van Braeckel wilde de persoonlijkheid van de wagen onaangetast laten, maar die enkel ?een nieuwe verjongde look vooraan geven en een meer verfijnde en evenwichtigere lijn achteraan?. Zo staat het radiatorrooster met verchroomde grille verticaler opgesteld. De luchtinlaten onderaan werden groter. De achterbumper kreeg een verchroomde strip die naar de zijkant loopt en een zwart paneel onderaan. Ook de omlijsting van de koplampen en achterlichten is voortaan verchroomd. Om het comfort aan boord nog te verhogen zijn de zijruiten vervaardigd van akoestisch glas, is de bodem driedubbel gelamineerd en werden de wielkasten beter geïsoleerd. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ook het interieur werd opgewaardeerd. Naast meer personaliseringsmogelijkheden omvat de catalogus een Naim-audiosysteem - exclusief voor Bentley - met een versterker van 1.100 Watt als optie. Volgens de constructeur is dit het beste ingebouwde audiosysteem ter wereld. Daarnaast is het tegen meerprijs mogelijk om een iPod, mp3-speler of USB-stick aan te sluiten dankzij een aansluitingsmodule in het handschoenkastje. De stoelen werden verbeterd en de achterbank is compleet vernieuwd. Die kan als optie geleverd worden met twee elektrisch verstelbare stoelen en een vaste centrale stoel. Om deze limousine probleemloos te parkeren maakt de parkeerhulp gebruik van nieuwe grafische tekeningen op het multimediascherm.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
De Speed onderscheidt zich uiterlijk van de rest van het gamma door geperforeerde metalen sportpedalen, een schakelpook in geborsteld chroom en afgewerkt met leer, en deurpanelen in geperforeerd leder. Hij krijgt ook extra chroominleg, een driespakig sportstuur en imposantere uitlaten. Hij onderstreept zijn potentieel met een fabelachtige rondetijd op de Nürburgring.&lt;/strong&gt;De Cadillac CTS-V had minder dan 8 minuten nodig om een rondje op de Nordschleife af te leggen: 7 minuten 59 seconden en 32 honderdsten om precies te zijn. Deze Amerikaanse vierdeurs is uitgerust met een LSA 6.2, een drukgevoede V8 die meer dan 550 pk (of 415 kW) levert bij 6.100 o/m en een koppel van 747 Nm ontwikkelt bij 3.800 o/m. Deze nieuwe CTS-V spurt van 0 naar 100 km/h in minder dan vier seconden en krijgt een gemoderniseerde versie van de gestuurde ophanging Magnetic Ride Control. Deze Cadillac met het sportieve V-label biedt voor het eerst de keuze tussen een manuele zesversnellingsbak of een zestrapsautomaat met schakelhendels aan het stuur.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Cadillac zit in de eindfase van het testwerk met deze CTS-V, die zal worden aangeboden in een beperkte oplage. Voor zijn prestaties op de Nürburgring werd hij niet speciaal aangepast en het model dat vanaf de herfst te koop wordt aangeboden, zal dus dezelfde specificaties vertonen. De gerealiseerde toptijd is een welkom geschenk, want een van de doelstellingen van het Cadillac-team was om met deze CTS-V de snelste productieberline op de markt te gooien. Hij wordt de eerste 911 met directe benzine-injectie en een versnellingsbak met dubbele koppeling.&lt;/strong&gt;Omdat ook Porsche zijn CO2-uitstoot moet reduceren, stapt de 997 in de tweede helft van zijn leven over op directe injectie. Die technologie past het merk al toe in de V8 van de Cayenne en zal binnenkort ook zijn weg vinden naar de zescilinders van de Boxster en de Cayman. In afwachting daarvan krijgen echter eerst de Carrera en Carrera S er de beschikking over. De automatische versnellingsbak Tiptronic S wordt (eindelijk) op pensioen gestuurd en vervangen door een gerobotiseerde bak met twee koppelingen, die een acceleratie zonder koppelonderbreking mogelijk maakt. Bovendien zijn de prestaties van een 911 met deze PDK-bak beter dan die van een manuele versie.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dankzij de directe injectie is het normverbruik van de Carrera gedaald tot 9,8 l/100 km en verbruikt geen enkel van de gefacelifte 911's meer dan 11 l/100 km op de normverbruikscyclus. Dat betekent een reductie van de CO2-uitstoot van 15 procent. Als aangename bijwerking krijgen de motoren er ook een paar pk's bij. Zo stijgt het vermogen van de 3.6 van 325 naar 345 pk en dat van de 3.8 van 355 naar 385 pk. Daardoor tipt de Carrera S Coupé de magische 300 km/h net aan.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Maar de grootste nieuwigheid is natuurlijk dat de verouderende vijftrapsautomaat is afgevoerd. Die wordt vervangen door een gerobotiseerde versnellingsbak met dubbele koppeling en zeven versnellingen. Met die versnellingsbak spurt de Carrera Coupé naar 100 km/h in 4,5 seconden of 0,2 seconden sneller dan met een manuele bak. Met optionele Sport Chrono Pack, waar een Launch Control bij hoort, kan hij die oefening zelfs in 4,3 seconden klaren.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Andere technische nieuwigheden zijn de grotere remschijven (330 millimeter rondom) voor de modellen met de 3,6-literboxer. Het Porsche Stability Management (PSM) integreert voortaan een noodremhulp, iets wat tot op heden voorbehouden was aan de vierwielaangedreven modellen (Carrera 4 en Turbo). Een wegrijhulp voor op hellingen is standaard.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Als optie kan de Porsche-liefhebber zich laten verleiden door het sperdifferentieel met een sperwerking van 22 procent onder belasting en 27 procent bij het vertragen. Het actieve onderstel PASM werd verbeterd. Het is een optie op de 3.6 en standaard op de Carrera S. Het nieuwe sportonderstel van de 911 ten slotte legt de auto 20 millimeter dichter bij het asfalt.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Uiterlijk is de vernieuwde 911 te herkennen aan zijn led-dagrijlichten en richtingaanwijzers. De koplampen zijn nu standaard xenonexemplaren en kunnen als optie met bochtverlichting worden uitgerust. De achterlichten bestaan voortaan volledig uit leds. In het interieur is het PCM (Porsche Communication Management) uitgerust met een aanraakscherm, Bluetooth, een harde schijf voor het navigatiesysteem en een aansluiting voor mp3-spelers. Een nieuwe comfortoptie zijn de geventileerde stoelen, die het leer bij warm weer kunnen afkoelen.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Deze facelift komt tegelijk met de zestigste verjaardag van het merk.
