News - Beyonce' talks about Ivy Blue diaper change and more

2012-09-11T13:22:00.001-07:00

Beyoncé helped Anderson Cooper kick off the new season of his talk show “Anderson Live” on Monday. During a sit-down interview at the United Nations General Assembly Hall last month, a beaming B discussed the joys of raising her 8-month-old daughter Blue Ivy.“It just gives you purpose and all of the things my self-esteem was associated with, it’s all completely different,” said the 31-year-old singer.

“I realized why I was born and more than anything, all of the things I want to pass on to my child. The best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her, but showing her by example, which is one of the reasons I’m here.” The superstar mother sings nursery rhymes to Blue. “I make up a lot of crazy, corny songs,” laughed B, who refused to perform any of them on-camera.When it comes to changing diapers, she and Jay-Z don’t argue. “He’s very good,” she said. “I love changing diapers. I love every moment of it. It’s so beautiful.”

News - Usain Bolt invited to address Vatican conference

2012-09-11T12:55:00.000-07:00

The Catholic News Agency (CNA) reports that the world’s fastest man, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, has been invited to address a Vatican conference on religious liberty. The TEDx Via della Conciliazione conference will be held in Rome on April 19, 2013, and will focus on the theme “Religious freedom today.” It is being coordinated under the auspices of the Pontifical Council for Culture’s “Courtyard of the Gentiles” outreach, which aims to create a “dialogue between believers and non-believers.”Those already confirmed as participants are drawn from the worlds of sport, music, culture and academia, including Vlade Divac, the former NBA basketball player; Gloria Estefan, the Cuban-born American pop singer; and the Japanese architect Etsuro Sotoo

It is the invitation of Bolt, however, that has made the headlines. The 26-year-old recently won three gold medals at the London Olympics and made sporting history as the “double-triple” man.As a Catholic, Bolt is known for making the Sign of the Cross before racing competitively. He also bears the middle name Saint Leo.Among the other sporting personalities invited to participate is the Ivory Coast soccer star Didier Drogba. The NFL quarterback and Evangelical Christian Tim Tebow has, however, already informed organizers that he will not be able to attend.Art historian and fellow participant Elizabeth Lev told CNA that she was “thrilled to hear art and beauty placed side by side with physical excellence”.“The Greeks knew athletic prowess was a gift from the heavens, and needed to be cultivated and appreciated as such. Artistic talent, also God-given, was used in the ancient world to produce the stunning sculptures we admire today in the Vatican Museums, from the discus thrower to the heroic amazons,” said Lev, who also works at the Vatican Museums. She added that she is “very much looking forward” to “promoting a modern conversation about art, faith and athletic achievement” in the same way that the early Christian community “extolled those same qualities in their saints and spirituality.”

Photos - Rihanna has a new tattoo it flys too !!!

2012-09-10T11:41:00.002-07:00

Rock star Ri-Ri is rocking a new do. Framed by new short, curly, midnight locks Rihanna showed off a new tattoo last night. The tattoo is wrapped in wings, sprawled directly underneath her breasts. Which is a perfect position seeing as to when her titties get old and saggy she will actually have to lift them up if she wants anyone to see the ink.

Everyone knows birds are the most freest animals on the planet. Their wings allow them to fly anywhere in the world. They soar high against the clouds and are the only creatures that God allowed to fly so high. That’s minus the fact that some smart azz human being had the freaking audacity to think humans could fly someday..

Can you imagine how hard the Wright Bros were laughed at when they came up with that silly idea…

After kissing Chris Brown and being able to express her love for a man that she loves so dearly despite the fact that he beat her black and blue and publicly humiliated her bad girl Ri-Ri is feeling just like the birds. She cut her locks because she now wants to go back to being the sweet Rihannashe was before the abuse surfaced.

Rihanna is setting back the hands of time with her Goddess Isis Tattoo wrapped in wings. She’s on top of the world.

Isis is also believed to be the protector of the dead, which is why she dedicated her new ink to her gran gran Dolly who passed earlier this year.

News - Reggae artiste correct Mugabe

2012-09-10T11:29:00.001-07:00

Jamaican reggae artistes are not happy with Robert Mugabe's controversial statement about Jamaican men being hooked on weed and always drunk.

According to a report on www.thezimbabwemail.net, the Zimbabwean president, during a 'distinguished lecture' at the Research and Intellectual Expo 2012, said he wished Zimbabwe would never follow the footsteps of Jamaicans.

"In Jamaica, they have freedom to smoke mbanje, varume vanogara vakadhakwa (men are always drunk) and universities are full of women. The men want to sing and do not go to colleges vamwe vanobva vamonwa musoro (some are dreadlocked). Let us not go there," Mugabe said.

Several artistes over the years such as Sizzla, Red Rat, Bob Marley, Cocoa Tea, have performed in Zimbabwe.

According to veteran reggae artiste Cocoa Tea who said he performed alongside fellow artiste Fantan Mojah in Zimbabwe last October, "that statement is not a true reflection of us as people. Jamaicans are way better than that and we are leaders but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sizzla is an educated artiste who has his degree for example. I don't really know how he came up with that conclusion," he said.

Reggae/dancehall musician Sizzla Kalonji reasoned that he has taken no offence to the president's statement.

"Black people are beautiful and courageous, strong, educated and we should keep our heads up and keep sailing high and be determined towards our goals as Zimbabweans and Jamaicans. I personally took no offence to the statement. Marijuana is a holy sacrament being used in the nyahbinghi churcical chanting and singing is a part of our culture from ancient of days, it's even in the bible where Psalms of David said we should sing and give praise unto the most high," Sizzla said.

He further reasoned, "we love the president and he should assist us as black people to overcome the phangs of hell daunted unto us by the slave masters. He should also take the time and look into our educational system and living conditions, and see how best he can help us towards the redemption and repatriation of our people to Africa."

Meanwhile, reggae artiste Tony Rebel said that Mugabe's statement is unfortunate.

"President Mugabe is a man who I have revolutionary respect for but I say 'you are wrong Mr President' because I am a Jamaican, and I don't smoke and drink for years and I know of many other Jamaicans who don't smoke. That statement is not a true reflection of us as a people because not everybody wants to sing and a lot of our sons are in colleges and the president needs to do his research," Tony Rebel said.

He further reasoned,"that statement was meant to be an insult but it's actually a compliment because it is because the Jamaican culture is so influential why he found it necessary to include Jamaica in such a distinguished lecture. I wish him the best of health and hope he is not getting senile because he is over 80 years old and he needs to find a successor," Tony Rebel said. 'Violations': Robert Mugabe

President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe listens as Prof. Alpha Oumar Konare, chairman of the Commission of the African Union, addresses attendees at the opening ceremony of the 10th Ordinary Session of the Assembly during the African Union Summit in Addis Ab aba, Ethiopia, Jan. 31, 2008.

News - Artistes accuse Broadcasting Commission of double standard

2012-09-10T11:17:00.001-07:00

While dancehall artistes have been, for the most part, adhering to the Broadcasting Commission's 'no-beep' rule, there is growing discontent about a double standard when it comes to the way foreign music is treated.

The general belief shared by the artistes is that hip-hop music is not regulated by the Broadcasting Commission as strictly as is the case with dancehall.

The duo known as Twin of Twins, is one of the groups that is discontent.

"We think it's double standard and that is why our music is not growing. We are fighting our own things and it's not only bleeps. If we keep a dance in the middle of the sea they send coast guards to turn it off," Curly Locks of the duo said.

"We agree that there is an upside to the rule, because it helps artistes to be more creative in terms of using different words instead of using curse words. But the same thing for dancehall should be for hip hop, if dancehall is not aired with bleeps, it should be the same case with hip hop. The hard-core nature was the value of dancehall music and we have lost that because it has watered down," Curly Locks said.

Twin of Twins also said the Broadcasting Commission should be paying more attention to the Internet, citing that children are more prone to explicit content through that medium.

Youth Ambassador for entertainment, Graham Rowe, also commented.

"I don't think that they (The Broadcasting Commission) consciously say it's hip hop leave it alone. But because they are so focused on local music they don't even realise that foreign songs are being played with bleeps, because they are really not focused on hip hop or other foreign content," Rowe explained.

Sub Konchus recording artiste Delus shared a similar view to Twin of Twins, he believes a rule should be evenly enforced.

"I just feel like it's double standard, they are not enforcing it for hip hop but they are enforcing it for dancehall," the deejay said.

Meanwhile the Broadcasting Commission maintains that its 'no bleep' policy is a standard for all musical genres.

According to public relations officer Nicole R. Morrison the rule applies equally to all types of music regardless of origin.

I used to find these stories funny a year ago, but now I no longer find them funny. We all want our mates to do exactly as we tell them to do and do everything in their power to keep us happy but we do not own people. You have no right to harm another human being..
