Fashion at any size: Plus size edition

2012-05-28T18:40:00.000-07:00

I am plus size, hear me ROAR!!! Lol, seriously my love affair with fashion began at a early age. It took me a while to get into my own style. I went through a preppy stage, gothlic/vampire stage, even a 70's bell bottom stage. I think back and laugh, but I am happy that I always threw my own flavor into any trend. So imagine when I started to step into the plus size area and I find that the options are not the same. Either you look like a 60 year in hot polyester or you are stuck in cheap material made into halter dresses and unattractive size 6 replicas. Note: Just because it's your size doesn't mean you should wear it. So when I couldn't easily find attractive clothing for a plus size figure I began to scope the web and this is what I found.

First up is ASOS.com: ASOS Curve collection

A trendy yet affordable fashion for plus size ladies

Next up we have Monif C

Monif C also has nice affordable but trendy outfits

And last but not least we have Forever 21 Plus

when you want something fun cute and affordable

Happy shopping Divas!!!!

Flashing Lights:Neon and Bold Colors

2012-05-27T07:25:00.000-07:00

It's old.....yes, I know. Nothing says the 80's more than Neon and bold bright colors. Add a little bit of spark and mystery, yes I said mystery with a touch of Neon. Careful not to go overboard with this hot trend, too much neon can easily change you from a chic fashionista into a cheesy 80's movie extra. Whether it be a bold purse, a statement bracelet or some hot neon shoes; try this tend out for a night on the town.

Hello World................guess who's back!!!!

I know I have been away for a while, but I am back. I thought I could easily walk away from this blog, but even when I wasn't blogging fashion stayed on the brain lol. A lot of my friends would ask what happened to the blog and I would say not right now, but honestly I just wasn't motivated to write a thing. Just wanted to say a special thanks to all my friends that have stayed positive and have kept me encouraged during my hiatus. I really do love you all!!! Muah!!!!!!!

When Keep it real goes wrong

2011-11-14T21:54:00.000-08:00

We have all had bad days. We have all had bad relationships. We have all had a situation that happened in life, that caused heartache and pain. There is nothing wrong with dealing with your problem and becoming a better person because of it. We all know that one person that is absolutely gorgeous, but we can't get past her one fashion fail: bitterness. Being bitter is the worse fashion accessory that a girl can have.

Bitterness is something that you can't hide; it begins to eat away at your inside and spews out to everyone around you. No matter how you dress it up, bitterness will never be a trend to follow. I find that prayer, exercise, meditation and journal writing helps to relieve bitterness. Your thoughts???

You've been there before. Picture it, you're standing in a line and BOOM, the most divine scent hits your nose and you begin to turn and look until you have found who owns that scent. I am in love with fragances. I believe that you should find your signature scent and that doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune to do so. Here are some of my favorite fragances. What are yours???

Fashion is seriously all about risk. This blog is my small start in risking taking. I have always loved fashion; I was the kinda girl that would buy all kinds of fashion magazines and pour over them for hours. I would save them and read them over and over. Writing has always come naturally to me, but for years I allowed fear to stop me from my dreams. Sometimes fear can be a generational curse, because no one ever took the chance to step out of the box. When I decided to start my blog, I didn't tell anyone. I didn't need or want any ones opinion. To step out of the box you have to realize that everyone will not support your plan. At 30 years old, I have decided not to let fear hold me back anymore. Everyday will not be easy and you will cross some bumps in the road. I learned about the power of prayer a long time ago and God will truly reveal somethings to you, if you take the time to open your heart, mind and eyes. You are in charge of your future. It's all about LIVING YOUR LIFE YOUR WAY !!!!!!

Daily Grind

2011-10-31T20:07:00.000-07:00

Smart, sassy, and independent women stand out in any room. Fashion Daily caught up with business owner and fashionista, Kimberly Joseph. She is the owner of Kimberly Koko Shoe Boutique and has many more business ventures to come!!!

As we sat down, over great cocktails, Kimberly opened up about her business, her passions and her goals.

1. Have you always wanted to be a business owner?

Yes, I got the itch to become a business owner in highschool. I got sidetracked ,as we all do sometimes, but I realized what I loved and I went for it.

2. What is your favorite footwear for the fall?

I love military combat boots for the fall season. I also think that the Mary Jane pumps are hot. Of course, fall staples such as knee boots and booties are a must.

3. What is your personal style?

My personal style is laid back with a hint of sex kitten. A typical outfit for me would be skinny jeans, graphic tee, blazer, big earrings and of course heels.

4.Who would be your dream client(s).

I would love to style Rhianna. She has a edgy style that I can relate too and she is not afraid to take chances when it comes to fashion.

5. What advice would you give others who are thinking about starting a business?

I would say pray about everything and do your research!!! Keep positive people around. There will be people that will come and there will be people that will leave you, but you must push forward. Another important thing is networking!! Networking helps to get your business out to the public. You will meet people that you can learn alot from. Learning your customers and your products is also very important.

6. Do you plan to expand your business?

Yes, right now the boutique is online, but the goal is to have a physical store. I would also like to come out with my very own shoe line. Kimberly Koko's Shoe Boutique has the potential to become a global brand and I would love to see that happen.

7. What inspires you?

Knowing that I am following my dreams inspires me to do the very best that I can. I look to God for help, guidance, support,..............I just look to him for everything. I had to learn that I can't please everyone. I took something as small as a passion for shoes and turned it into a business with God's help. No matter where you are from; your dreams can come true.

When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong

2011-10-30T18:41:00.000-07:00

We at Fashion Daily believe that hair is a powerful way to express ones personality. Wigs and weaves are fun ways to try styles without damaging your hair. When applied correctly wigs can help create a sense of mystery and character to any outfit. If not taken care of or applied incorrectly a wig or weave can become a diva's worst enemy.

Daily Grind

2011-10-24T15:16:00.000-07:00

We at Fashion Daily heart professionals in the fashion industry. As we approach the Fashion Daily Spa Manicure GiveAway, who better to interview other than expert stylist Tamara Kelly.

Tamara is a stylist at Total Pizzazz Styling Salon. She has been a stylist for 5 years. She specializes in custom coloring, cuts, and natural & healthy hair. She also specializes in all your makeup and nail needs. Fashion Daily caught up with Tamara and asked her some questions about fall fashion 2011/2012.

What are some of trendy hairstyles for fall?

I love short and sassy cuts, silk wraps, short layered and feathered bobs. I also love putting a bold twist on natural colors. Some hot colors I have made for my clients are pumpkin orange, cinnamon twist, cherry blossom red and of course jet blue black.

       2. What are some hot makeup color choices for the fall?

Bold Colors mixed with neutrals!!! You can really express your emotions with your makeup choices. For the lids I love reds, blues, purples, gold, even yellows. For the lips pinks, reds, and neutral colors are hot!!

        3. Who is your dream celebrity client?

I would love to work with Monica. I like her style and how she is not afraid to play with short and sassy styles. She makes every hairstyle her own and she is a trendsetter.

         4. What is your definition of fashion?

My definition of fashion is expressing yourself using your personality. Being the fashion trend; not the follower.

         5. How do you rock to the beat of your own drum?

I draw inspiration from my close friends and life……………My best friend loves to push boundaries when it comes to color and I have learned to really step out of the box.

DIME on a dime

2011-10-23T21:13:00.000-07:00

I love to shop, but in this economy it would be wise to spend less and save more. I got a great tip from a family member; shopping at GOODWILL and CONSIGNMENT SHOPS. I found a great Sag Harbor Boyfriend Blazer similar to the one in the picture above. This blazer retails at $39. The gently used blazer from Goodwill cost $4.97. You don't have to spend alot to look good.
