Back 2 School

August is finally here and I can't be more excited, because school is starting soon. I love when school is about to start because I get to go school supply shopping and buy basically everything that can feed my organization fetish! I don't really need half of the school supplies I buy, but I love starting school with brand new supplies. I literally have tons of old pens and pencils in my backpack right now from the last semester but I refuse to use them in the new semester (new semester, new supplies).

Texas Made: All The Wire

Today was definitely a lazy Sunday, but a successful one at that. I finally got internet at my new apartment so that means I will be back to blogging more often. This afternoon I came across All The Wire, not only is all their jewelry hand stamped but the girls who do all the stamping are from Texas. I love it because its mostly personalized jewelry and who doesn't want to wear something special to them? They also have the cutest midi-rings that you can make your own by getting one with your initials. I NEED so many things from their website, but I will more than likely be getting a big bar necklace with the date I met my girlfriend on it. How cute is that?!

Don't Mess With Texas

The sun is out, the river is warm, the tubes are inflated, and you all know what that means! Summer time in TEXAS! If you're not from Texas I feel bad that you can't enjoy all the amazing summer activities that we can. We literally spend 3hrs floating on a 75 degree river with an ice cold beer in our hands and no worries in the world. For those of you that can't experience this you can feel a bit of Texas with these southern charmed collections by Tumble Weed Styles and Southward Apparel.

Medical Corner: Gluten Free Diets

From the moment we all heard of how Miley Cyrus lost weight while being on a gluten free diet it began to be a fad with the world of weight loss. I even tweeted about wanting to go on a gluten free diet last week but I have done some research and spoke to some doctors about this new fad and I wanted to share with you all some of the things I learned.

First of all, what is gluten?
Gluten is a protein composite that is in foods mainly processed from wheat. It is what gives rise and keeps the breads shape. So as you can tell from now that consist of most of your breads, pasta, and things you eat on a regular daily food intake.

So, who should REALLY be on a gluten free diet?
From the conversations I have had with a few doctors they all say the same thing. NO BENEFITS HAVE BEEN FOUND for people who are on a gluten free diet that do not have celiac diease (a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is due to a reaction to eating gluten.) People who have celiac diease and eat gluten can have symptoms of diarrhea and fatigue. Some cases have been found that people who are gluten free diets and do not have celiac diease can cause weight gain and nutritional dysfunctions.

Overall, gluten free diets are for people who have celiac diease but like every other fad most people will not pay attention to the FACTS and just go into these diets because "Miley Cyrus" looks "so thin/fit". But what I wanted to bring you guys the facts and truths about gluten free diets and I hope that you take some information from this post with you. Remember NO BENEFITS HAVE BEEN FOUND UNLESS YOU HAVE CELIAC DIEASE and gluten free products can be quite EXPENSIVE.

One thing I always tell everyone is "If you want to loose weight and be healthy, do it the best way that works by exercising and eating right!"

Street Style: Gwen Stefani + Karen Walker

I absolutely LOVE Gwen Stefani's style! Its very earthy, down to earth, and comfortable. If I could do a street style everyday it would be on her. She has been seen wearing a lot of Karen Walker lately and it looks so fab on her. The second outfit on here is my favorite, its very much something I would wear on a daily.

Catching You Up

It's been a couple LONG months since I have blogged and I've been dying to get back on the blog train! I'm gonna catch you guys up on a couple new things going on in my life right. First of all I am beyond glad that Spring semester is OVER. It was the most stressed semester I have ever had in my entire college life, but thats over and done with. Anywho now that the sun is steaming hot and the beach is looking its best, I wont be able to enjoy it. My summer is so busy but I love it! I came back home for 2 weeks to shadow a doctor and its the best thing I have done all summer. I love it because I get to see the patients progressing and it feels amazing. I go back to San Antonio next week and I hope to do a STREET STYLE POST while I'm there because I mean if you haven't been to San Antonio your missing out on the amazing-ness that is downtown SA. On top of everything I am taking summer classes! So I am hoping to make this summer a bit fun before Fall because once that comes around I will be dead with the classes I am taking. So thats what I have been up to lately, catch you guys on the flip side!

Texas Medical Association Rally

If you guys don't know yet, I am a pre-med major at my university. So I am not just interested in fashion and music, I am actually a huge nerd when it comes to medicine and science. So today I wanted to bring you something different than what I usually post, and I might start doing these frequently, a health post.

In medical news,the Texas Medical Association held a rally yesterday afternoon in Mcallen,Texas to reverse state cuts in Medicare-Medicaid funding. Basically, there are budget cuts that are coming into effect for physicians' medicare-medicaid patients. Most of the physicians patients in the Rio Grande Valley are medicare-medicaid based so that means that the physicians would have less patients (less income) and they would have to close their doors to many of their patients, some even long-time patients. Alone, in the RGV 75-80% of the physicians patients are medicare-medicaid based being a dramatic difference than other cities in Texas such as Dallas where the percentage is down to 15-20%. Just in the last years budget cuts the physicians in the RGV are getting 20% less income. I am glad to see that not only are the patients taking stand for their rights to continue to see the physicians they have always been with but as well as the physicians fighting for their patients.

Despite the tornado warning weather on Monday, this week has been so beautiful outside. The sun is shining everyday of the week and its warm! My favorite weather. I'm back from under my study rock! I've been looking forward to this day to blog. Well I just want to show you guys some pictures from Spring Break (which went by too fast). I found a new roll of film for my Polaroid, so expect some awesome pictures soon.

I got a new pup over Spring Break and she is so adorbz! Maddie Liz is her name and shes a Jack Russell Terrier, shes got some spunk too! I didn't really do much over Spring Break except spend some QT with the fam bam.

Spring Break!!! Not so much for me I still have exams to study for and looking for internships. I never can catch a break, but its all worth it in the end. I am trying really hard to get into Ross Medical School in the Caribbeans, which would be totally cool. So that means I am only working even harder in classes = not as much time for blogging. I am going to try really hard to change my blog around sometime this weekend. In other news...I have a photo shoot that I am shooting tomorrow for a 15th birthday, so stay tuned for those photos. I got a Neiman Marcus catalog in the mail today and found such maj outfits. (below)

I'm On A Boat

Not literally. I am stuck at school but spiritually I am on a yacht somewhere in the island of Capri. This Wally 73 yacht is amazing the design and texture of it is beyond flawless. The living space and kitchen accommodations are even much more appealing than some of the most expensive houses I have ever seen. The inside of this yacht is designed by Stefano Pastrovich who I must give props to for this sleek, exquisite modern design. Spring break is coming up and imagine laying out on some island with this yacht, I can feel the sun rays already. The price isn't up on the website so I am sure its more than likely a pretty penny. So, until then I will lay out on a rowboat on some dirty beach until I become a physician and can afford this lol.

90s Baby With An 80s Soul

Yeah, so I am not even going to start with how I am coming back to blogging regularly. I have a crazy busy semester right now and trying to get in a research program for summer adds the cherry on top.

BUT....I have been obsessing with the 80s era lately and Madonna. Not just because she recently did an amazing job at halftime on the Superbowl but because my mom has loved her, so it kind of rubbed off on me. My playlist this week has consisted mostly of her music and I absolutely the outfits in her "Borderline" music video (below).

As any bloggers/readers SHOULD know it is NYFW but I want to go back to last years NYFW with Yigal Azrouel's Cut 25 SS 2012 line. Its very 80s vibe with the P.O.C (pop of color) and the clothes cut to design just like they were in the 80s. Ohhh what I'd give to live in the 80s.

Ramblings: Rings + Things

I've been a bit MIA for a while because I am back in the city (means i have more things to do in the day). Unlike being back at home in the middle of no where with nothing to do but blog. School doesn't start till Tuesday but I came back early for work which was cancelled so that totally pissed me off. I miss my family and I could've stayed back home till the weekend but whatever with this BLEAKNESS!

I have been obsessed with Top Chef, Chopped, and Cupcake Wars lately. I have literally stayed in and watched these shows all day. I so wanna be a chef but I am fine with being a doctor :)

I also bought a ring from JewelMint but it arrived back at home, gotta wait 2 weeks (my birthday) to see how it looks.

What do you guys think about 24 Hour Catwalk? I love it so far.

I was outside the other day with my little 9 year old cousin and it felt great. Not having a care in the world and just in the moment of flying my kite. Usually we all get caught up in work, school, and just staying inside doing absolutely nothing. The weather is great if you live in Texas so don't let it go to waste.

So go outside, enjoy the weather, and just be in that moment no where else....that is after you comment on this post :)

Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals Lookbook II Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

As always Jeremy Scott brings a lot of attention to himself and Adidas Originals. He brings a pop of color and unique-ness to Adidas, which makes them not so original anymore but still haute.
