Actually we had set up the board a few times at a coffee shop (Open Space) or at home, but today was the first time we really played a full game with me helping her by explaining where she could move her pieces according to the rules <br /> <br /> I won, but i lost a few key figures carelessly...a queen, a bishop...basically playing against myself.&nbsp; Anyway, she seemed to have fun, though she probably just wanted to move the figures around however she wanted and pretend she was playing.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> I haven't played chess in a long time, though i fondly remember playing it with Dillon, Gregg, and others.&nbsp; It's been a while since i've played at all, and i definitely haven't played seriously in many years.&nbsp; What is serious chess playing?&nbsp; Unhealthy mental obsession?&nbsp; Memorization of patterns or superhuman like capability for forethought?&nbsp; I know that chess is supposed to be good for the brain--for making rational, thought-through decisions, though part of me kind of feel like it's pointless.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> I do really like the name of the game in the three languages i know it.&nbsp; Actually, now that i think about it, i may have attempted a bass before, but probably just played it by plucking the strings.
