Jags Review: Businessman & Boduguard and their upcoming multistarrer

2012-01-14T00:37:00.000-08:00

Businessman:

Entertaining action flick. Watch it for complete Mahesh show on-screen, puri show (importantly dialogues) off-screen well supported with reasonably good music & commercial elements.

Rating: 3.25/5

Bodyguard:

Pleasant/Enjoyable love story with good comedy & sentiment backed with high voltage fights. Venky scores a HIT. 2nd half can be better/entertaining. Interesting climax.

Rating: 3.25/5

Analysis: Pongal Winner

For those who are interested to know which is the winner among the movie released for Pongal ...Both the movies should be rated with same rating, but the target audience are different. Businessman might beat Bodyguard in terms of revenue, due to the record screening of Businessman in 2000 theaters & Mahesh's previous film (Dookudu) being a blockbuster. Youth & regular movie buffs might like Businessman more, which a typical Puri style flick with one-man-show from Mahesh; while Bodyguard would impress family audience more due to good comedy/sentiment, but no one would disappointed after watching this movie.

Jags Analysis: Both Businessman & Bodyguard are winners in Pongal race!!

Venky-Mahesh's upcoming multi-starrer:

Now that both these stars will be seen on-screen in same film 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu', HiTollywood team is wishing this multi-starrer flick to become a blockbuster, setting benchmark for many more multi-starrer movies to come. Dil Raju is producing this movie under Sri Venkateswara Creations. Music is being composed by 'Mickey J Meyer'. Story-Screenplay-Direction is by Srikanth Addala, who debuted with Kotha Bangaru Lokam. Other casting: Samantha, Amala Paul, Prakash Raj, Jayaprada.

Panjaa Movie Review by a Tollywood fan - Exclusive

Cast : Pawan Kalyan, Sarah Jane Dias, Anjali Lavania, Jackie Shroff, Atul Kulkarni, Adivi Sesh, Tanikella Bharani, Subbaraju, Brahmanandam, Ali, Sampath Raj, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, Jhansi and others.

Editing : Sreekar Prasad
Action Choreographer : Shyam Kaushal
Screenplay : Rahul Koda
Dialogues : Abburi Ravi
Styling : Anu Vardhan
Art : Sunil Babu
Publicity Designer : Neel Roy
Still Photographer – V Sittrarasu
Story & Direction : Vishnuvardhan
Producers : Neelima Tirumalasetti, Nagesh Muntha, Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni
Banners : Sanghamitra Arts & Arka Media
Release Date : 9th december 2011

Story : Pawan Kalyan’s childhood gets disturbed as few goons kill his family and make him an orphan.
He meets Jackie Shroff, who gives him support and also a gun to survive, and also names him as ‘Robert’.
Now Robert grows up with vengeance in his heart and uses the gun given to him and builds a mafia empire in kolkatta.
He becomes a rugged mafia leader and helps those who are helpless and robbed by more powerful people.

In his action packed life, enters Sandhya (Sarah Jane Dias) and robert gets attracted towards her.
Despite having a target in his mind and leading a risky lifestyle, robert couldn’t help himself from falling in love with sandhya.

Robert wants to finish off those goons who killed his family and he plans to do it alone himself.
For this, he re-enters his village with new name as ‘Jaidev’ and starts executing his plan.
There he meets local police, Paparayudu(Brahmanandam), who has very bad reputation in the village.
How robert/jaidev changes paparayudu’s image and uses him to finish off the villains is the rest of the story, which should be watched only on big screen.

Actors : Pawan Kalyan excelled both as mafia leader and lover.
His rugged full beard look, body language, dialogue delivery are impressive.
Especially in few scenes where his voice is used as narrative, he excels.
It is feast for fans to see Pawan’s rocking performance.

Sarah Jane Dias tried to look cute and romantic.
Eventhough she lacks the look, she managed few good expressions, especially in songs and in few romantic shots.

Anjali Lavania has very lesser role and is more of an item girl who has 1 song and a fight.

Jackie Shroff, Tanikella Bharani, Atul Kulkarni and Subbaraju were as usual but new villain Adivi Sesh was excellent.
He showed varied expressions as a psycho villain and seems to have good future as a versatile actor on telugu screen.

Brahmanandam, Ali and Jhansi take care of the comedy part in second half and infact without brahmanandam, second half would be incomplete.
Especially, Paparayudu song shot on him and pawan was hilarious and is highlight of this movie.

Technicians : This is a directors movie and Vishnuvardhan excels in his work.
His ideas can be seen through excellent cinematography of PS Vinod and art work of Sunil Babu.
In all technical departments, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background music and PS Vinod’s cinematography standout as excellent works.
Editing by Sreekar Prasad is slick.
Stunts by Shyam Kaushal are thrilling, especially the climax fight.
Abburi Ravi’s dialogues are average and he doesnt use many oppurtunities in screenplay to showcase his talent.
Rahul Koda’s screenplay is gripping, except for few minutes in the begining of second half.
Vishnuvardhan has extracted best possible output from all his technicians in this movie.

Production values of Sanghamitra Arts and Arka Media are rich.

Highlights :

Pawan Kalyan’s presence and performance.
Cinematography by P.S.Vinod
Haunting Background Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja
Vishnuvardhan’s stylish taking
Comedy in second half
Overall, this movie entertains and gives us a feeling of watching a worthy movie from Pawan Kalyan after more than 3 years.

Jags Review: SOLO: One time watch movie!

2011-12-03T03:42:00.000-08:00

SOLO - SOlid LOve story: One time watch movie!

Solo is a movie depicting how a SOLO (Orphan) becomes no more a SOLO (gets family by marrying a girl having joint family)

With some SOlid LOve story, hilarious comedy in some scenes, sensible sentiment/dialogues towards end, SOLO turns to be just a decent movie.

Looks wise Nara Rohit is superb, except that he can become a bit more slim. In acting he needs to improve his body language & ease of acting.

2nd half is a bit dragging & tight screenplay would have made the film much more entertaining.
Can watch it once without much expectations.

Jags Review: Old wine in New fresh bottle

2011-11-12T04:02:00.000-08:00

[Click on image for better/larger view]

Oh my friend: A youthful musical entertainer with predictable old story, in lines with Chiru's 'Idhari mitrulu', and some scenes which remind 'Nuvvekavali'. Good performances by lead roles, very good music/cinematography and sensible sentiment/climax well supported with Dil Raju production values & publicity make this movie a hit, in spite of missing novelty in script & slow paced second half.

Jags Review: Mogudu: Dramatic Dud

2011-11-05T05:30:00.000-07:00

Mogudu: Dramatic dud :(
Severe torture wit sentimental overdose n illogical silly scenes. Don't dare 2 watch d film. Expected atleast some entertaining scenes from KrishnaVamsi.
Except noteworthy cinematography in some scenes, skin show from leads roles [Tapsee, Shradda Das, GopiChand ;)], some meaningful dialogues and one stylish fight, everything is rubbish.
