Shrimp Festival- P.F Changs at Al Corniche

We were invited by the PF Changs Marketing team to try out their New Promotion "Shrimp Festival ".

As usual we were the last to enter interrupting a table full of bloggers.

We were greeted with warm big smiles and a few familiar faces.
Once settled we were briefed about the shrimp festival, with new mocktails, starters and appetizers the Shrimp festival was set to have a bang on start.

Shanghai Sunrise was served to F&B Boy ..which he thoroughly enjoyed!!

And I got the Pomegranate Cosmo, which was my favorite..

Appetizers:
Grilled Spicy Prawns "Perfectly grilled these prawns are guaranteed to delight your senses. Seasoned with house spices, black pepper and served on a bed of tangy cucumber and tomato salsa" KD 3.500 (as per the menu)

Shrimp Ceviche Crisps " A refreshing citrus-marinated shrimp dish with a medley of peppers, cilantro, tomato and cucumber on a wonton chip. Great for sharing and trying something new" KD 3.500 (as per the menu)

This was my favorite amongst the appetizers.. its light and refreshing!! different from the usual.

Spicy Crunchy Shrimp " three jumbo shrimps hand -rolled in a shredded spring roll wrapper, flash fried golden brown, served with spicy plum sauce and topped with Julienne scallions" KD 3.500 (as per the menu)

This was F&B Boy's and my second Favorite for the evening!!

Main Course:
Lemongrass BBQ Shrimp "Tender shrimp marinated in lemongrass BBQ sauce laid on top of fresh vegetables cooked to perfection." KD 5.750 (as per the menu)

The blogger (who I believe was LWDLIK) sitting right across the table suggested the Lemongrass BBQ shrimp, which later that evening ended up being my favorite. This stood out from the rest of the main course.

As per their conversation, this is their best selling dish in their shrimp festival promotion.

Ma La Shrimp "We've combined three of our favorites to create this one of a kind, yet traditional dish. This trio of green beans, juicy shrimp and our Kung Pao sauce is sure to dazzle your senses! KD 5.750 (as per the menu)

The best part about this dish was the crunch of the beans.

Red Chili Buttery Shrimp" A tasty plate of shrimp and egg noodles, wok-seared and peppered with light chili flakes. Garnished with a hint of minced garlic and black beans then drenched in a savory chili paste, ready to present" KD 5.750 (as per the menu)
This was my second favorite for the evening, since it had two of my favorites to began with.

Macanese Garlic Shrimp " A sizzling mixture of shrimp, bay leaf,minced shallots and fine powdered garlic, all cooked in Macau chili and fish sauce, straight from our woks." KD 5.750 (as per the menu)

We were specifically warned about the heat of this dish since it was prepared in Macau Chili. Well, to be very honest it did not hit me but then again I eat spicy food for living.

Last but not the least my favorite dessert!! I sooo love it!!

The Banana Spring rolls served with vanilla ice cream, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries topped with caramel sauce.

Ended with Jasmin Green Tea.

Had a lovely evening filled with laughter, delightful ambiance and my clumsiness (I thank my stars that the shrimps were not flying across the table) overall, we all stuffed ourselves with shrimps.. perfect for shrimp lovers.

If you love shrimps as much as I do then this is definitely not one to miss out on...

McDonald’s Kuwait prepares to spend ‘A Day Offline’

- McDonald’s Arabia encourages families to switch off mobile phones, computers and television sets this Friday September 28th

- Initiative expected to engage thousands of parents across the region

- Forty-five per cent of Middle East workers experiencing higher stress levels than last year

KUWAIT: 22 September, 2012: With less than a week to go until McDonald’s Kuwait’s highly anticipated ‘A Day Offline’ campaign, families from across the country, and throughout the entire GCC are encouraged to turn off their mobile phones, computers and television sets all day on Friday September 28th. Officially launched in early September, the campaign has already caught the attention of thousands on social media channels, and is expected to impact families across the region.

A 2012 study conducted by Regus, revealed 45 per cent of workers in the Middle East are experiencing higher stress levels than they were just one year ago. Roughly 70 per cent of respondents agreed that flexible working practices would reduce workplace-related stress, and over half (52 per cent) agreed that flexible working practices would allow them to spend more time with family.

George Khawam, Marketing Director of McDonald’s Kuwait commented: “Kuwait is undoubtedly a family-oriented country, and one that greatly values the importance of family relationships. However, increased workplace demands often result in decreased time for family bonding”.

“We at McDonald’s have developed the A Day Offline initiative to bring mums, dads, children and loved ones together to enjoy uninterrupted family time. We believe in cultivating family relationships and are demonstrating our commitment by providing venues and opportunities to spend quality time together.”

In the lead up to the event, McDonald’s will be distributing phone vaults – phone-sized containers with adhesive closures – to help Kuwaiti families plan for the special day and spend uninterrupted time together through fun outdoor and indoor activities throughout McDonald’s branches across Kuwait.

Khawam commented on the importance of uninterrupted family time. He said: “Simply spending time around family is not enough – especially when mobile devices may be flickering in the background and creating unwanted distractions. To make the most of the time we spend with our loved ones, we must mentally and physically switch off the triggers that cause us to disengage.

“Spending time in the presence of loved ones has been shown to dramatically reduce stress, and the McDonald’s’ A Day Offline initiative is providing opportunities for families to join together and reconnect without interruptions. A concept like this is long overdue in Kuwait, and I see tremendous potential for this to become an ongoing event with fantastic results for families.”

Based on the incredible success of last year’s campaign, McDonald’s has committed to make this an annual initiative whereby the organization will devote one day every September to celebrating the importance of uninterrupted family time.

Bloomingdale's - Magnolia Bakery

Not only did I want to eat the entire bakery but I wanted to buy the whole of Bloomingdale's!! absolutely gorgeous!! Since I had a lot on my food list, I decided to keep it to a cupcake!!

It's obvious that I tried the ever famous Red Velvet cupcake... the frosting was orgasamically good!!

Thank you F&B Boy for this cute little brown bag!!! Muwaaaah!!!

While we await to enter the Dolphin Bay, we decided to kill our hunger by trying out TBJ (the hunger wasn't the only factor that lured us to this joint..."The Smell of Burgers" was the main culprit)

F&B Boy was disappointed since he didn't get his beer but the burger calmed him down!!

Visiting Dubai for this Eid Weekend was the best idea ever!!

We got to visit yet another amazing joint by Alshaya coming soon to Kuwait..

To be very honest at first I was not super excited about Texas RoadHouse since I am not a hardcore red meat person but F&B Boy is!!

It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be for Dinner but then again it was Ramadan so the eaters started coming in quite late.

We were greeted with big smiles ...our hostess got us the menu's ..
she then served us the tiny buckets of in-shell-Peanuts (which they are known for.. )

As usual, I have to nibble on the hostess head to know their popular dishes, best sellers and what she would recommend us newbie's...

After placing our order.. we were served with Complimentary sweet rolls with butter, honey, cinnamon dip. We loved it!!! Good start for a delicious meal coming ahead..

Our Order:

Beef Brisket AED 58.000
Tender, slow cooked beef brisket covered in our made-from-scratch brown gravy, served with seasoned rice or mashed potatoes and your choice of one additional side.
Fried Pickles AED 18.000
A heaping basket of pickle chips hand-battered and lightly fried. Served with Ranch sauce.
BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich AED 34.000
1/2 lb. Beef Brisket slow cooked in our signature BBQ sauce and topped with our made-from-scratch cole slaw. Served on a toasted bun with seasoned steak fries and pickle spear.
Original House Margarita AED 22.000

I ordered the Beef Brisket for myself and F&B Boy ordered the BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich !! The best beef briskets ever... just melts in your mouth!! the feeling was beyond explanation..

The Margarita complemented the meal !! Oh and not to forget the pickle lovers are so going to love this..."fried pickles" awesomeness!!

The F&B Boy ate his whole meal in silence which means he was enjoying his BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich ..two thumbs up from him as well!!

Since it was Ramadan we missed out on the dance but looking forward to it in Kuwait!!

It's a must try!! We enjoyed our Dinner!! :)

Sparkling red wine, mix mojito & tropical blend syrup

thin slices of beef tenderloin, with our chef's special herb pepper. Served with fried capers, toasted sesame seeds, roasted capsicum and shaved Parmesan, dressed with sesame lime oil.

Succulent Gulf prawns pan-fried with garlic, ginger, red chili, lemongrass and cream

Grilled traditional South African sausage, served with pap (polenta) and Chakalaka sauce
Since pap was not available we had it with mashed potatoes.

Everything was perfect..cooked to perfection..from the drinks to the dessert!! we had a beautiful meal!!

The meat just melts in your mouth and the only restaurant after quite a while got the perfect medium rare for my palate!

The dessert platter is the best way to go, it includes most of their desserts in a smaller portions.

Special thanks to Rosie Webb for the invite and Dezmond & Micah for their service and hospitality!! Had a lovely evening and it was a pleasure to meet them!! :)

Review: Solo Pizza Napulitana

F&B boy and I were dead tired and hungry, so we decided to go for something small yet tasteful and satisfying...

I recommended Solo Pizza Napulitana as its behind my office, plus I have heard good reviews from friends and colleagues..

The restaurant had a warm and homely feel to it!! The menu is short and simple!! neat...

Our Order:

2 bottles of Pepsi

Half of Frodo & Half of Bianca
(total bill was 5.400 KD)

Frodo is basically San Marzano tomato, fresh mozzarella, smoked salmon, oregano, peperoncino, Chili Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Bianca is fresh mozzarella, garlic, basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (no sauce)

I loved the pizza, fresh from the oven topped with fresh ingredients...far apart from the idea of a commercial daily pizza you are used too...

Although, F&B boy had a different opinion about it.. I still stick to mine..it was simple and delicious!! :)

Overall:

Quality, quantity, presentation & taste was simple yet tasteful!!

Fact:On the 26th of April 2011, we became the first & only pizzeria in Kuwait to be awarded the Seal of Authenticity, by the “Vera Pizza Napoletana” Association (VPN) of Napoli, Italy. (World Certified Member No. 353) Pizza was born in Napoli over 200 years ago. After spreading throughout the world, pizza lost its authenticity, becoming commercialized and ordinary. VPN was established in 1984 by a group of Napoletan “pizzaioli” (pizza makers) in order to preserve and promote the genuine taste of pizza, as it has always been made in Napoli.

Business Supporting Charities (BSC) will be conducting an awareness event on Diabetes featuring Professor Francine Kaufman, MD.

This event is in association with the Dasman Diabetes center and will be held on Tuesday - 7th August 2012, at Dasman Diabetes Institute at 12:30pm.

This awareness event is part of the Pumps 4 Kids Campaign, which aims to collect donations in order to provide diabetic children with insulin pumps.

The event will focus on the breakthroughs in Insulin pump therapy and the benefits of using insulin pumps in both children and adults.

This is a unique opportunity to meet and listen to a world renowned Doctor in the field of Diabetes. Professor Francine Kaufman, MD is Director of the Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles and Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Southern California (USC), LA, California.

Dr. Kaufman was president of the American Diabetes Association (2002-03), and serves on the Advisory Council of the Diabetes Branch of the NIH.

Invitation is open to all people interested especially parents of diabetic children and diabetic patients.

We were invited on behalf of the marketing team to try out Cherriez and taste their new Ramadan flavor "Vimto"

Being the first store and opened just 2 year back they are catering & delivering all over Kuwait!!

Henry was the first employee of the sharq outlet... He introduced us to the flavors and

set aside mini testers ...among them Mango was my favorite...

Sizes: Mini, small, Medium, large

Small with 4 toppings KD 1.600

Medium with 6 toppings KD 2.250

Large with 6 toppings KD 2.650

Small cup add 0.850 fils and choose 4 toppings
Medium & Large cup : Add KD 1.000 & choose 6 toppings
Add 0.250 fils for additional toppings

Mini cherriez:

Original (dozen) KD 4.950

Flavor (dozen) KD 5.950

The Flavors available are :

Original
Alphonso Mango
Chocolate
Vimto

Toppings:

Fruits: Blueberries, Blackberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, Watermelon, Banana's.

Others: Chocolate chips, nutella, oreo, cheesecake bites, granola, M&M, Fruit loops, Roasted Cashew, Roasted Almonds, Chocolate nibblers, kinder buneo, flakes etc...

So this was mine!! I went ahead with all the flavors and my toppings are usual were all the berries and syrup :)

& this was F&B boy's : he choose Vimto with oreo, kinder buneo and granola as toppings

The notable factor at Cherriez was its service , while we were finishing our frozen yogurt we happen to notice two kids walk in... one being a toddler and the other maybe 5 years old ..with a KD 10.000 and demand for ice cream ...Henry was very calm and polite ..he treated them the same as how he treated us...he gave them a tester each and asked them what flavor would they prefer... he showed way too much of patience with these kids.

Any ways, It was nice to see the way he tried explaining the product and helping the kids select what they wanted.

Frozen yogurt fan's its a must try if you haven't tried it yet!!!

Bloggers Iftar at Zafran and I wasn't planning to miss it!!It was sort of a pre-bday celebration for my momo!!

Upon entrance we were greeted with familiar faces!! It was so nice to meet all of them since our last Bloggers Night (Link)

I had the pleasure to meet most of my fellow bloggers, Swear (the mother to be) from Crazyyetwise, Jacqui(my fav) from Couch Avenue accompanied with Lujain(super cute) from Lujain Talks, Joe (from the super couple) 965malls and Khalil(cutest smile) from Q8path..

Kamarrudin, Jallab & Leban with Mint and a bowl of Dates were served to break the fast!!!

Loved the Salad bar...it was a treat for my eyes (colors of summer)

Cold Mezza: Hummas, Baba Ganoush, Fattoush Salad, Grilled seafood & pickling spices, seasoned chicken, diced tomatoes, corn niblets & Lemon grass Mayo, Penne Pasta, Green peppers, Indian cottage cheese & Tomato basil salsa, mushroom marinata, Baby Aubergine & Yogurt Garlic dip, Dahi Bhalla

My favorites were the Grilled seafood salad, Indian Cottage Salad, Baby Aubergine Salad and Dahi Bhalla.. absolutely yummylicious!!

Fresh Salad bar:
Cucumbers, Carrots, Onions, Tomatoes, Ice berg Lettuce, Radicchio

Selections of dressings , Chutney and pickles: Saffron Mayonnaise, thousand Island, Mustard Vinaigrette, Balsamic Honey Ginger vinaigrette, Mint chutney, tamarind chutney, pachranga pickle, crisp indian pappadums & cucumber Raita.

Chef Mohit recommended the Balsamic Honey Ginger vinaigrette ..which is a must try!!

Next was the Dal Palak ka Shorba ( Soup) i.e Lentil spinach soup followed by Indian snack food such as Punjabi sambosa, pakora...etc..

For the main course we had a choice from Tandoor to Curries...

Tandoor Grills: Gillafi Ghost kee seekh, Lahori Murgh Tikka, Tandoori Subzian, Kashmiri Murg Tikka

Indian Curries: Murgh Tikka Masala, Roganjosh, Mahi methi Kofta curry, Subz Miloni, Murgh Hyderabadi Briyani, Dal Panchmel, steamed Rice and Naan

Keep in mind that Zafran serves contemporary Indian cuisine so its not heavy and spicy like the Indian food you are use to eating elsewhere... It's light on stomach and you wont end up with a heart burn :)

Dessert: Fruit basket ,Sliced watermelons, Rice pudding, Om Ali, Jalebi , Gajar ka halwa...

My favorite was the Carrot Halwa (Gajar ka Halwa)

Ultimately, If you enjoy Indian cuisine, a good variety with great service then Zafran is the place to be...

A couple of weeks back I was invited to Sushi Club by Ali Al-Enizi...

Finally setting aside my busy schedule, I decided to go ahead and take my Mom, Momo & F&B Boy out to Sushi Club for Dinner!!

With big smiles and an appetite to attack we climbed upstairs to settle down and go thru their new menu

Luckily we didn't walk into a set menu so we asked the restaurant manager to suggest us a couple of dishes...

Our Order:

Drinks: Orange Juice & Lemon with Mint (KD 1.000 each)
Salmon Avocado Salad: Mixed fresh vegetables, topped with sliced salmon & avocado..served with Sushi Club's special dressing. (KD 2.750)
New Wave Salad: Fresh greens topped with crab sticks, Japanese caviar served with Sushi Club's special dressing (KD 3.250)
Prawns Gyoza : Prawns & mixed vegetables dumplings (KD 2.500)
Sesame Chicken: Pan fried chicken with Teriyaki sauce & Sesame seeds (KD 2.000)
Jurassic Maki (KD 5.250)
Mix Maki Platter (KD 9.000)
Chicken Noodles(KD 3.000)
Tempura Vanilla (KD 1.750)
Pumpkin Cake (KD 2.250)

Fresh greens topped with crab sticks, sesame seeds and Japanese caviar ..served with their special dressings.... this was my mom's favorite!!

As usual I always order salmon avocado salad when ever I see it..
It was light and refreshing!!

My mom really enjoyed the salads !!!

The beverages complimented our food and was quite refreshing !!

Next came in the gyoza and the sesame chicken...

Both were my favorites!! I LOVE gyoza and very few restaurants make them right!! (i.e according to my taste)

The Noodles were especially recommendation for my mom!!Loved it!! yummylicious!!

Then came in an army of maki's!!!

My favorite was Jurassic Maki

Mix Maki Platter 24pcs (Mix of California, Spicy Salmon & Tampaand Tempura Prawns)

Towards the end we decided to order some dessert and what better way to end this wonderful evening than with tempura ice cream!!

Yessss!!! I said it!! *Drum rolls please* It was Tempura ice cream!!!

I absolutely loved it but would avoid the caramel sauce in future!!

Next in line was the Pumpkin cake and again I would avoid the caramel sauce...coz it makes it way too sweet!!

It was a perfect evening with delicious food!! singing to Rihanna while having my maki's and signing it out loud with momo was pure madness!!!

Towards the end we had a lovely chat with the restaurant manager Mohammed Saleem and the Executive Chef!!!

Special thanks to Ali for inviting us and the staff for taking such good care of us!!

Overall:

Quality, Quantity, Taste & Presentation was good
Delightful ambiance - cozy interiors
Good variety to choose from
Friendly Staff- Fast Service
Total cost was 36.250 (complimentary)
