Tandem Skydiving

There are skills that you must have to ‘dive’ in the sky. If you have no experience, you can try tandem skydiving. Tandem skydiving is a kind of skydiving where you are physically attached to the instructor with a harness. With an instructor flying together with you, you don’t need to be confused about what you should do up there. You and the instructor will flare the same canopy for a nice soft landing. Unlike tandem skydiving, in accelerated free fall the instructor is flying by your side, not attached to you, coaching you by using hand signals, and assisting you, if necessary, during your nearly one minute freefall. The instructor will leave you after you open your parachute and you can safely land with radio assistance. Accelerated free fall is the easiest way for you to achieve your first skydiving certification. It requires only 8 jumps to get it. For accelerated free fall your weight should not be more than 120 kilos.

“A” License Requirement

After graduating from accelerated free fall, you need another requirement to skydive with other skydivers. It mean you have to gain an “A” license. To be eligible, you must have 20 jump and be able to do relative work with another divers in the air with you. Relative work consists of some basic skills that you have to carry out in each skydive. To do save relative work, you should pay attention to :

- Exit technique

- Neutral box body position

- Up/down movement

- Canter point turns

- Swooping to a formation

- Freefall safety

- Canopy control and safety

- Packing the parachutes after landing

An “A” license is the key for you to enter advanced skydiving. After you get an “A” license, you can get the “B” and then the “C” license. There is no other way to get those licenses except by doing more and more jumps. For example, to do freeflying, you should have an “A” license first and a minimum of twenty-five jumps. Freeflying is the ability to fly in any position, in any direction, at any speed at any given time. You can doit with your head down, sit, stand, or any style of flying you can create in your own mind. It’s like dancing in the air.

Museum Fatahillah (Jakarta History Museum)

Also known as Fatahillah Museum, this museum was named after the sultan who defeated the Portuguese in 1527. The museum located in Taman Fatahillah, , used to be the heart of the Dutch colonial administration. Formerly it was Stadhuis or the Town Hall of Batavia, built in 1627 and then renovated in 1705-1715.

A well known historical event that took place there was the imprisonment of Pangeran Diponegoro. He was tricked by the Dutch colonial administration to come and discuss truce in Magelang, Central Java. But he ended up being taken into custody, and brought to this building before he was exiled to North Sulawesi.
There is a painting, a work of art by the world famous Raden Saleh, depicting this arrest.

The museum has a collection of 18^th century furnishing, chinaware, ancient maps of Jakarta, and portraits of the former colonial governors.

In the backyard of the museum, there is a big old Portuguese cannon called Si Jagur, with an inscription in Latin : Ex Me Ipsa Renata Sum (I am reborn from myself). It said so to show that the cannon was the remold of several smaller cannons. It is believed that Si Jagur Possesses certain mystical powers. Many women who aren’t able to bear children visit it hoping to be blessed with children.
