When I talked with Mike B (after my old roommate's introduction) he had said he was swamped but expected that to change after the 4th. Now I'm beginning to get a little nervous. He isn't responding to email. I don't want to make a pest of myself... perhaps I should begin again.

Company Information on the Web

ASC is a very difficult company to track down through inexpensive means. Since researching companies wasn’t something I had done very much of before I went to the Reference Librarians at the Lakewood Library to get a brief introduction. They showed me how to access the databases that were available and helped me with some of my research, mostly because the first three places we looked contained little to no information on my company.

So then I went to DU’s Library and spoke with a Reference Librarian there. She believed that DU would be a better choice because they have more databases available. Unfortunately, even with additional databases, the company information was scarce.

Overall, the company seems to keep a relatively low profile. They do have an excellent website explaining their company and it will be interesting to see if/how they are using Knowledge Management.

Case Study Proposal

After working in the commercial real estate Industry and the same company for 17 years, I decided the case study should be an opportunity to start looking at how other companies work. I was fortunately able to convince an IT manager at ASC (name changed for privacy) to allow me to do a case study on the Knowledge Management environment the company has adopted. ASC is a specialist in environmental, health and safety industry.

While the contact has accepted the case study, the timing of the initial meeting must be postponed for a couple of weeks while he completes a couple of projects. Our first meeting is scheduled the week of July 5th.

My initial research into the company leads me to believe that as a service and technology company, they have adopted several concepts of knowledge management without necessarily knowing they have. Their stated focus is on identifying and solving environmental problems, allowing the client to get back to their business.

My education began in Geological Engineering and I enjoy the technical challenge that looking into something new will bring.

The Good News: Mike Kreitzschmair with ASC has agreed to meet with me and let me do a Case Study on the company.

The Bad News: He's not available to meet until after July 4th.

I'll type up a proposal and post it later. If it is promising and approved this could be fun.

Coors Tech doesn't seem to work out. I can't get a hold of anyone to help.

So today I tried Time Warner Telecom. They are a major tenant in this building (having all or part of 5 floors) and our local dial tone provider. I call the engineer who helped to design and install our T1 and asked him if he knew of anyone that might help me.

Called Coors Tech today and left message. Contact is out today. Will try back on Monday if I don't hear from her. May try a couple of different avenues anyway.

A Different Direction?

I had originally hoped to see if Time Warner Telecom or Keller Williams who are in the building I work would let me do a case study. I think for the time being I may make them the back up plan. So, I called a friend at Coors Tech to see if they may know who to talk with. I'll pick up the article Che talked about tonight and then call the contact at Coors tomorrow.
