Taylor Swift

Journey To Fearless (DVD)

Der amerikanische Superstar Taylor Swift ist nicht nur Sängerin, sondern auch Songschreiberin, Musikproduzentin, Schauspielerin und mehrfache Grammy-Preisträgerin – u.a. wurde sie 2011 als Billboards Woman Of The Year gekürt und gewann zum zweiten Mal den CMA Award als Entertainer of the Year. Ihr jüngstes Studioalbum „Speak Now“ verkaufte sich in den USA innerhalb der ersten Woche über eine Million Mal und wurde in unzähligen Längern mit Gold- und Platinawards ausgezeichnet.

Doch damit nicht genug: auch 2012 ist ihr Jahr. Ihr Song "Safe & Sound" ist der Titelsong des kommenden Kinoblockbusters "Die Tribute von Panem". Zudem hat die Songwriterin bei den diesjährigen Grammys abgeräumt. Gleich zwei Preise konnte Taylor mit ihrem Monsterhit „Mean“ mit nach Hause nehmen. In den Kategorien „Best Country Solo Performance“ und „Best Country Song“ ging Taylor als strahlende Siegerin vom Platz und darf nun zwei weitere Awards ihr Eigen nennen.

Da aktuell keine Deutschlandtour von Taylor Swift in Aussicht ist, werden sich ihre Fans besonders über ihre neue DVD „Journey To Fearless“ freuen. "Give Me All Your Luvin'" feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.

Der Countdown läuft... nur noch etwas weniger als ein Monat, bis Madonna ihr brandneues Album "MDNA" veröffentlicht. Am 26. März wird das neue Werk weltweit auf den Markt kommen. Mit "Give Me All Your Luvin'" feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A. präsentiert Madonna einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf ihr neues Album und feierte eine würdige TV-Premiere: Beim diesjährigen Super Bowl bestritt Madonna die Halbzeit-Show, brach Zuschauer-Rekorde und setzte einmal mehr technische Maßstäbe! Am Freitag erscheint "Give Me All Your Luvin'" feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A. als 2-Track Single inklusive der LMFAO-Version, die sie beim Super Bowl gemeinsam mit den Dance-Shootingstars performte.

Am 26. März erscheint das 12. Studioalbum der Pop-Ikone: „MDNA“ wurde in New York und Los Angeles aufgenommen, William Orbit war sofort zur Stelle und hat auch einige der Songs auf dem neuen Album mitgeschrieben und mitproduziert. Zu den weiteren Produzenten gehören Martin Solveig, The Demolition Crew (Keri Hilson, Lady Gaga), Marco “Benny” Benassi und Pitbull. Vor wenigen Tagen wurde das Lyric-Video zum Song "Girl Gone Wild" ins Netz gestellt. Man kann es u.a. unter www.universal-music.de und www.myvideo.de anschauen.

Call Me Maybe

Carly Rae Jepsen ist in ihrem Heimatland Kanada kein Geheimtipp mehr. Die 26-jährige trat bereits 2007 in der 5. Staffel der beliebten Castingshow Canadian Idol auf und belegte Platz drei. Vom Siegertreppchen startete sie kurz danach mit ihren Mitstreitern die Canadian Idol Top 3 Concert Tour und baute sich dadurch eine große Fanbase auf.

2010 nominierte sie der kanadische Musikpreis JUNO in der Kategorie New Artist of the Year und Songwriter of the Year. Auf dieses Talent wurde auch Justin Biebers Manager und Entdecker Scooter Braun aufmerksam und nahm sie kurzerhand unter Vertrag.

Mit ihrer absoluten Ohrwurm-Single „Call Me Maybe“ belegte Carly Rae Jepsen bereits sämtliche kanadische Hitlisten und Verkaufscharts und erreichte sogar Doppel-Platin. Zu ihren Fans zählt auch die oberste Riege der Hollywood-Jungstars: Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez und Ashley Tisdale haben kürzlich erst ein Viral-Video zur Single erstellt, das auf Youtube innerhalb weniger Tage über 12 Millionen Views verbuchen kann. M.I.A.

Bad Girls

M.I.A.s Musik lässt sich in keine Schublade einordnen. Ihr Sound liegt irgendwo zwischen Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Grime und Elektro. „Bad Girls“ ist die erste Single aus dem vierten M.I.A.-Album, das bald erscheinen wird. Dieses wurde von Danja produziert, der vorher schon mit Künstlern wie Madonna und Timbaland zusammen arbeitete.

M.I.A. gilt als einer der interessantesten und kontroversesten Künstlerinnen unsere Zeit. Der Rolling Stone ernannte sie zu einer der bedeutendsten Künstlerin der letzten Dekade. Zudem wurde sie vom Time Magazin auf die Liste der 100 einflussreichsten Menschen der Welt aufgenommen.

Ihre neue Single „Bad Girls“ erscheint am Freitag im Handel. Die Single klingt so, wie man es von ihr erwartet: einfach anders und unverwechselbar. „Live Fast, Die Young - Bad Girls Do It Well…“, fasst M.I.A. ihre Message zusammen.

Far East Movement

Far East Movement - die Überflieger aus L.A. präsentieren ihren neuen Track "Live My Life" feat. Justin Bieber

Bereits in 14 Ländern steht der neue Song von Far East Movement in den Top10 der iTunes-Charts, darunter ist mehrfach die Chartkrone und in den USA Platz 3! Alle Zeichen stehen also auf Hit, und das wundert bei dieser Truppe überhaupt nicht: Far East Movement, in L.A. beheimatet, von Kunst, Streetstyle und Urban Lifestyle zu ihren Songs inspiriert, haben bereits mit ihrem Song "Like A G6" die Charts rund um den Globus gestürmt. Hierzulande erreichte die Single Goldstatus, # 15 der Charts und die Top 10 der iTunes Charts. Nun legen die vier Jungs aus Koreatown mit "Live My Life" ihre brandneue Single vor.

"Live My Life" entstand gemeinsam mit dem Pop-Superstar Justin Bieber, der nicht nur auf dem Track zu hören ist, sondern auch daran mitgeschrieben hat. „Live My Life“ ist die erste Singleauskopplung aus ihrem kommenden Album „Dirty Bass“ und wurde von RedOne (Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez) produziert.

Die stylischen Jungs von Far East Movement touren momentan durch Europa u.a. auch durch Deutschland im Rahmen der Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour und treten neben LMFAO, Rye Rye, Kay und Colette Carr auf.

The All-American Rejects im Sommer auf Tour mit blink-182

Blink-182 kommen in diesem Sommer nach Deutschland und werden eine Show präsentieren, die in der Geschichte des Trios alles bisher Dagewesene übersteigt. Als Supports werden die Jungs von The All-American Rejects begleitet. Die Alternative-Rocker aus Oklahoma kommen ebenfalls mit einem neuen Album namens „Kids In The Street“ auf Tour. Das Album erscheint am 23. März in Deutschland und beinhaltet natürlich auch die neue Single "The Beekeeper's Daughter" (VÖ:16.03.). Die Jungs haben sich bekanntlich nie gescheut, The Who mit den Beach Boys zu mischen und durch Punk-Hooks auf Touren zu bringen, und diese eingängige Mischung hat ihnen nicht nur zu Gold- und Platinstatus bei den Plattenverkäufen, sondern auch treuen Fans rund um den Globus verholfen. Ben Howard - Weitere Shows in größere Hallen verlegt

Ben Howard ist schon mit seinem ersten Album „Every Kingdom“ auf dem Weg, einer der ganz Großen zu werden. Was das Erfolgsgeheimnis des Briten ist? Wahrscheinlich einfach seine Authentizität und seine samtweiche Stimme.

Mit seiner packenden Single „Keep Your Head Up“ und dem Debütalbum „Every Kingdom“ beweist Ben Howard, wie viel Gefühl in seiner Akustikgitarre steckt. Nach einer Reihe von Promo-Terminen, Radiokonzerten und TV-Auftritten, kommt der junge Brite im April endlich auf Deutschlandtour.

Die Freude über Ben Howards Deutschland-Tour ist so groß, dass nun auch die Konzerte in Berlin, Dresden und Frankfurt in größere Hallen verlegt wurden. Köln und Hamburg waren bereits vor ein paar Wochen verlegt worden. Wer hierfür übrigens noch kein Ticket hat, sollte sich beeilen, den es gibt nur noch wenige Plätze.

NEW YORK (February 29, 2012) – On April 2, 2012, at New York’s Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, musical artists and stars will come together to show their support for a very special evening billed as “A Celebration of Paul Newman’s Dream,” to benefit Paul Newman’s Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. The event will feature performances by world-renowned performing artists, the campers themselves and a very special announcement about the Association’s global network of camps. Performances will include GRAMMY-winning and GRAMMY-nominated musicians: Josh Groban, Paul Simon and Trisha Yearwood, as well as additional surprise musical performances throughout the evening and appearances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Jimmy Fallon, with more to be announced. Ticket sales from the evening – which is generously supported by Newman’s Own Foundation and hosted by Joanne Woodward, produced by Kevin Duncan and directed by Josh Rhodes – will benefit Paul Newman’s family of camps and programs supporting children facing serious illnesses from around the world.

“This is the legacy of my husband, Paul, and he considered it to be his most important one,” said Woodward. “It is for that very reason that I find this delicate way, in my best manners, to ask friends and supporters to come together to help raise money – it’s about helping the children who need it.”

The 2010 Celebration of Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Camps raised more than $3 million in support of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps thanks to the generous participation and performances from Renee Zellweger, Bette Midler, Bill Cosby, Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett and many more.

The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps is a growing global community of innovative camps and programs for children with serious illnesses and their families. Today, there are 14 member camps worldwide, including eight in the United States, five in Europe and one in Israel, as well as 10 programs in Africa, Asia and South America. Since 1988, over 350,000 children and families have been served from 50 countries. The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps is an independent not-for-profit organization dependent upon private funding to serve all children free of charge.

The major supporter of the event, Newman’s Own Foundation, carries on Paul Newman’s philanthropic legacy and commitment to helping make the world a better place by turning all net royalties and profits from the sale of Newman’s Own products into charitable donations. Republic Nashville Presents Trio with Platinum Plaque To Commemorate Sales Of Over 1 Million For Their Debut CD – THE BAND PERRY

Nashville, TN (Feb. 28, 2012) – Celebrating The Band Perry’s continued success, BMI and Republic Nashville hosted a party this week to commemorate both a two-week #1 single and Platinum album. The band’s most recent love ballad, “All Your Life,” written by Brian and Clara Henningsen, topped the charts and also attained RIAA Gold certification, with a consistent increase. The hit is featured on their Platinum-certified debut album, THE BAND PERRY, which has sold in excess of 1 million copies.

“Brian and Clara wrote a great song and we are so happy that they pitched it to us!” says Kimberly Perry. “We get such a great reaction from it live and the fact that it stayed in the #1 position for two consecutive weeks proves what a well-crafted song it is.”

BMI Assistant VP, Writer/Publisher Relations Clay Bradley introduced the band and writers to a packed lobby, presenting them with the symbolic silver cups for the #1 achievement. BMLG President & CEO Scott Borchetta and Republic Nashville President Jimmy Harnen followed, presenting the sibling trio with their Platinum plaque. The album also includes the Triple-Platinum, #1 smash, "If I Die Young" and the Gold-certified “You Lie.”

“We are so proud of Kimberly, Reid and Neil on their second number one single and better yet a multi-week number one single. There are just a handful of debut albums in the last three years that have sold over a million copies. Today’s celebration was an exciting moment and a great accomplishment,” said Harnen.

“Different Places” features new Gregory single, “High On You”

(Nashville, Tenn. – Feb 28, 2012) Country artist Adam Gregory is set to release his new single and six-song album, Different Places, in the U.S. and Canada on Feb. 28.

The first single, “High On You,” ships to Country radio the same day Different Places is released on Feb. 28. Gregory co-wrote four of the six songs on the album, including the “High On You” single. Chart-topping songwriters Victoria Shaw, Frank Myers, James Dean Hicks, Steve Bogard and Clay Mills also contribute co-writes on the project. Gregory, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, and a Nashville resident since 2006, had been writing and recording new material for Different Places over the last 12 months.

“I’m really excited for my new music to finally come out and give people a taste of what I’ve been working on for the last year or so,” says Gregory. “I had considerable input in terms of the songwriting and song selection for this project, and I think the writing is a little more mature, a little more personal than my last project.”

Internationally acclaimed producer Mark Moffatt produced Different Places at Funhouse Studios and Big Dog Studios in Nashville.

“Adam is a great young artist who defies the trends and lives one hundred percent for his music, a quality that comes across very strongly on this record,” says Moffatt. “His voice is unique and instantly recognizable, and his ability to convey pure emotion in his music draws the listener in from the very first word of every song. Working with him on this project has been a distinct pleasure.”

A Gold-selling recording artist in Canada, Gregory first made a name for himself in the U.S. with his 2008 Top 40 debut single, “Crazy Days.” He released a follow-up single, “What It Takes,” through Big Machine Records and subsequently went on to star in the motion picture, “WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?)” in 2009. The Sandra Piller fan club has created a new music video to her song "Easy to Love" using images that are surprising and delighting viewers.

Now available on YouTube, the video showcases photography of animals happily nuzzling and cuddling with each other, including dogs, cats, birds, and horses, but also displays such unlikely couples as cats with dogs and birds with cats. "The reaction from people who see the video is almost always 'awwwwww!'" says Piller. "It just makes me smile every time I see it."

Calling themselves The Wild Bunch, the gathering of Sandra Piller fans worked together in completing the video to showcase one of the twelve songs on Piller's "Days Like These" album which was released by Shady Hill Records (www.shadyhillrecords.com). This is the second fan-produced video for Piller and joins two official videos for songs from that album.

"Days Like These" is Sandra Piller's third collection of what some people are calling "new country classic music." For Willie Nelson, the difficult part about recording an album of Country classics wasn’t deciding what to record — it was deciding what not to record.
“I probably know two or three thousand songs,” said the member of CMA’s Country Music Hall of Fame, “everything from Jimmie Rodgers’ ‘Blue Yodel No. 1’ to the songs of today. There’s not enough room on one record for all of my favorites. There aren’t enough records, either — not in one lifetime.”
Fourteen of Nelson’s favorite oldies can be found on his latest album, Remember Me Vol. 1, released on R&J Records. As its title suggests, he has recorded more than can fit on one album. “Eventually, we got it down to 32 songs,” Nelson said. “The biggest problem was cutting it down.”
He and producer James Stroud both contributed to selecting the repertoire. “Me and James got together and chose the songs and chose the keys I would sing them in,” Nelson said. “I came up with a few. James came up with a few. James went into the studio with the Nashville musicians and cut the tracks. Then he brought those down to Austin and I put my vocals on them.”
“We started out with about 75 songs,” Stroud remembered. “It was sort of a combination of music that we loved and music that we could apply to Willie’s style.”
Stroud’s production credits include new hitmaker Chris Young, superstars Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Randy Travis and Wynonna, living legends Charlie Daniels, Neil Diamond and Hank Williams Jr., plus Country Music Hall of Fame members Merle Haggard and Barbara Mandrell. As a session drummer years before he began producing, Stroud worked with hundreds of others as well.
His association with Nelson goes back a long way, but neither man can remember exactly how they met. “I played on one of his records that Chips Moman produced (in the 1980s) but Willie wasn’t there,” Stroud recalled. “Then, sometime in the early to mid ‘90s, a mutual friend introduced us and we played golf in Nashville. The first music I produced for Willie was for a TV special, maybe 11 years ago. I was working with one of my heroes, so it was a combination of feeling intimidated, excited and thrilled. I’m on a small list of producers who have worked with him, one of the top three or four Country artists in history. Honored is not the word, because I was beyond honored. And I still feel that way. But he never makes you feel that way.
“Willie is about as easy to work with as anybody I’ve been around,” Stroud added. “Working with Willie is like pouring water. It’s just that easy. He’s very knowledgeable. He certainly understands everything that he can do — his inflections, the way he sings, the way he plays, the way he ties his (vocal) phrasing in around the way he plays his guitar. Everything that he does, he’s an expert at being Willie Nelson.”
Nelson’s vocal performances on Remember Me Vol. 1 sound astoundingly strong for a man who will celebrate his 79th birthday on April 30. What is his secret?
“If I knew, I’d bottle it up,” he answered, with a chuckle. “I do an hour-and- a-half show every night, and that’s the best (vocal) exercise you can do. When other singers ask me, that’s what I tell them: Sing all the time. If you don’t use it, you lose it.”
“Willie has an awesome range today,” Stroud confirmed. “If he sang a song more than three or four times, it was rare. I mean, he had each vocal on that record done perfectly by three or four, every one of them.
“He’s very spontaneous as far as the way he records,” the producer continued. “He would sit and play his guitar and have fun. He’d sing a song, and then we might go out to eat or go hit a golf ball, because his studio is on his own golf course. I remember one day we did a couple of vocals and then he said, ‘Let’s go play golf.’ So we went outside and got in his Mercedes. He popped the trunk, we put our golf clubs in the back and he drove it onto the course. We played golf in his Mercedes! He said, ‘I like to play golf with it being air conditioned.’ That’s how we worked. We take our time. He doesn’t stress out.”
The oldest song on the album is “Roly Poly,” a Western Swing tune by Fred Rose that was popularized by Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys in 1946. Nelson had a particular connection to Wills, so he and Stroud gave it an especially swinging treatment. “I grew up on Bob Wills’ music,” the singer explained. “And I got to know him personally. Very early in my career, I did some concert promoting, and I hired him for some shows. He was such a great guy.”
From 1947 comes “Smoke That Cigarette,” a hit for Tex Williams, who co-wrote it with Country Music Hall of Fame member Merle Travis. Phil Harris took it up the pop charts that same year. It was this song that actually jump-started the album.
“One day we were talking about ‘Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette),’” Stroud recalled. “I remembered my mother hearing that song on the radio and then seeing her actually smoking a cigarette. So Willie and I were laughing at that. He said, ‘You know what we should do? We should look at all of our favorite songs.’”
Singer/songwriter Stuart Hamblen created the original version of “(Remember Me) I’m the One Who Loves You” in 1950. During that same year, Ernest Tubb also had a big hit with the song. Hamblen is represented on the album as well by Nelson’s revival of his “This Ole House,” from 1954.
Also dating from 1950 is “I’m Movin’ On,” the signature song of Hank Snow, a previous Nelson collaborator. During the 1980s, Nelson sought out many of his musical heroes to record duet albums, including Snow. The first of these was San Antonio Rose with Ray Price in 1980. “Release Me,” written by Eddie Miller, Dub Williams and Robert Yount and introduced by both Price and Kitty Wells in 1954, is revived on Remember Me Vol. 1.
In 1982 came Nelson album collaborations with Roger Miller (Old Friends) and Webb Pierce (In the Jailhouse Now). Nelson revives Pierce’s 1954 smash “Slowly” (written by Pierce and Tommy Hill) on the new album. Also in 1982 were the first of four Nelson duet albums with Waylon Jennings (WWII) and the first of three with Merle Haggard (Pancho & Lefty).
In 1985, Nelson reacquainted audiences with the songs of Faron Young (Funny How Time Slips Away) and Hank Snow (Brand on My Heart), including “I’m Movin’ On.” All seven of these classic duet partners are members of CMA’s Country Music Hall of Fame, and all except Haggard and Price have since passed away. Were these projects a way for Nelson to get to know his boyhood favorites while he still could?
“I’ve done a lot of duet projects,” Nelson reflected. “I did an album of Lefty Frizzell songs (To Lefty from Willie). And then I did whole albums with Ray Price and Roger Miller (Old Friends). It’s just that I loved their music. It’s just that I loved the sound of people like Webb and Hank. Those two were guys I just really liked the unique styles of what they do.”
Three big hits from 1955 “made the cut” after Nelson and Stroud trimmed their song list. “Sixteen Tons” was written by Merle Travis and popularized by Tennessee Ernie Ford. George Jones broke through to stardom with “Why Baby Why,” which he’d written with Darrell Edwards. “Satisfied Mind” (Red Hayes and Jack Rhodes) was a 1955 hit for three future members of CMA’s Country Music Hall of Fame: Red Foley, Jean Shepard and Porter Wagoner.
Though songs from the 1940s and 1950s dominate on Remember Me Vol. 1, other eras are represented too. The 1960s gave us “Today I Started Loving You Again,” introduced by songwriters Merle Haggard and Bonnie Owens in 1968. And Kris Kristofferson’s “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” a massive hit for Johnny Cash in 1969, was named CMA Song of the year in 1970. Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kristofferson and Nelson were billed on albums they recorded in 1985 (Highwayman), 1990 (Highwayman 2) and 1995 (The Road Goes On Forever).
“I had the best seat in the house,” said Nelson, fondly recalling his tours with the group. “I was at the right of the stage, Kris was on the left, with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings between us. I felt like I had a front-row seat at the best concert in the world, every night. I consider those records and those tours with The Highwaymen as a major highlight of my life.”
A rocking remake of Haggard’s 1977 hit “Ramblin’ Fever” represents the 1970s. Haggard, Hamblen and Travis are the only songwriters featured twice on the album. “James and the musicians in Nashville had the idea to crank it up on ‘Ramblin’ Fever’ and make it rock,” Nelson said. “I thought it turned out great.”
The late Vern Gosdin had a 1989 hit with “That Just About Does It.” Nelson becomes the first artist to revive this mournful ballad, written by Gosdin with Max D. Barnes. “That’s the most recent song on there,” Nelson commented. “I just love Vern Gosdin. He’s the best. Again, a real stylist.”
In assessing Nelson’s perspective throughout Remember Me Vol. 1, Stroud ventured, “I think his state of mind right now is grateful. He’s lost some friends over the years, and I think he looks back and is grateful that he knew them. He’s grateful that he’s still able to play well and perform at a real high level. But we always talk about what’s next. He’s always looking forward. He’s as excited about his music right now as ever.”

Nashville, TN (February 28, 2012) – “Tidy” is not a word often associated with the against-the-grain work of Hank III, but it’s a fitting way to describe the way “Long Gone Daddy” packages up a full-bodied sampling of his career, style and influences.

Due April 17 on Curb Records, this 10-song collection could have been titled “Long Gone Granddaddy” for the shuffling country blues flavor of not just the Hank Williams covers but of much of the batch.

Grandpa’s contributions, title track “I’m A Long Gone Daddy” and “Neath A Cold Gray Tomb of Stone,” are complemented by fiddle and steel-drenched songs written by generations he influenced, including Merle Haggard (“The Bottle Let Me Down”), Johnny Cash (“Wreck of the Old 97”) and Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson (“Good Hearted Woman”).

The singer-songwriter Hank Williams influenced most – on this record, at least – is Hank III, whose remarkable vocal, including yodeling sendoff on the title track, would have been just right on a circa 1950 Grand Ole Opry or Louisiana Hayride stage.

A collection of six previously unreleased recordings and four resurrected from prior releases, the album is an exclamation point on the style and mood of Hank III’s 1999 “Risin’ Outlaw” breakthrough and acclaimed follow-up “Lovesick Broke & Driftin’.”

As “This Ain’t Montgomery,” a lament of the state of modern country, states: “Hank Williams is dead and he ain’t comin’ back here again.”

True, of course. But he’d be proud of his grandson.

Fallon welcomes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to studio 6B on Monday, February 27 to open the week with two performances. Springsteen will chat with Fallon for an interview segment before taking the “Late Night” stage again for multiple performances with the band. One of “Late Night’s” most memorable moments included a 70s dressed Springsteen and Fallon dressed as Neil Young performing a parody of pop hit “Whip My Hair” together during the musician’s November 16, 2010 debut on the talk show. The video of the comedy bit garnered instant viral success.
Tuesday night, Kenny Chesney makes his first appearance on “Late Night” when he performs “I’m on Fire,” from Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A” album, a song which Chesney previously released as part of the bonus tracks from his 2004 album “When the Sun Goes Down.”
Elvis Costello backed by Fallon’s house band the Roots is set to perform “Brilliant Disguise” from Springsteen’s album “Tunnel of Love” on Thursday, March 1.

Underdog Breaks Down Industry Walls

New U.S. Company Reaches Top 40

Nashville, TN --- This week, the Nashville-based company Stokes Tunes breaks down industry barriers as the only wholly artist-owned American-distributed firm in the United States to achieve Top 40 status in either the Country or Pop Top 40 Radio play charts in 2012.

Fueled by a promotional partnership between Stokes Tunes and songwriter Harrison Tobin, The Lost Trailers’ single “Underdog” jumped into the Mediabase Top 40 on the strength of across-the-board support from large and small country stations throughout the United States. The song was co-written by label owner Stokes Nielson, Tobin, Jason Sever and country hit-maker David Lee Murphy.

“I believe that if you champion your listeners, they will champion you,” Cites KAJA San Antonio Program Director Travis Moon, who has seen his station climb to the #1 rated station slot in the market while heavily supporting the new tune. “Underdog speaks directly to the lives of our listeners, we’re in for the long haul on this record.”

In a time when the majority of the Top 40 Country Music Chart is populated by foreign companies like Tokyo-based Sony Music, Paris-based Universal-Vivendi, and Russian oil tycoon Len Blavatnik-controlled Warner Music Group; the entry of music by a US-owned and distributed company to the chart is indeed a significant “underdog” tale.

“We’re brave enough to believe in the power of great music that is shared from the ground up, because it embodies the spirit of the everyday country fan.” Nielson says, “Between working closely with country radio, constant live touring, and keeping our online audience fed with new content, we feel like we can impact the industry in a positive way.”

Country Music News International began on March 1, 2011. The idea for the magazine did not come from the editor, Christian Lamitschka, but from one of his friends in Nashville, Tennessee. He made it clear to Christian that due to the work he had been doing for many years and the great reputation that he had gained in the community from artists, other editors, managers and many more people in the music industry, it was time for him to publish his own music magazine.

Thus the only thing missing was a fitting name for the music magazine. Country Music News International was exactly the right name. The name represents what the aim of the magazine is, Country Music as made anywhere in the world.

Due to the variety of Country Magazines on the market it was difficult to stand out. It was then that Christian Lamitschka had the idea to do a bilingual music magazine in English and German. Thus, starting on the first of March 2011, one could find music news, interviews, CD reviews, news and much more in Country Music News International. In order to also gain the interest of music fans that are not particularly interested in Country Music, the column “General Music News” has been added.

In the meantime the magazine made it onto page one on the Google search engine. This certainly is due to the newsletter, that is distributed daily by Country Music News International. The newsletter reaches more than 200,000 readers worldwide and is distributed using platforms like MySpace, Facebook, Google +, Twitter, Digg, YouTube, E-Mail and many more.
