The Rescues and The Cheapmunks

The Rescues is an American Rock Band formed in 2008. All the members sing and play instruments. They did their cover on Katy Perry's Teenage Dream. Its just an amazing song, specially with the female voice being extremely good. I'm still checking out songs from their album Let Loose The Horses which was released in June.

The other artist was The Cheapmuncks. They are a Pakistani band (yet another one) but haven't published any albums officially yet. They were promoted by a Pakistani FM Group and was brought to the Internet mainstream by "In The Loop Video Department. Both the females have a really good voice and, I'm hoping, we can get to see more of them in the future.

Conan O'Brien quips about next career move: nudity

After an ugly shakeup at NBC over the late-night lineup, Conan O'Brien hosted the "Tonight Show" for the last time Friday.

"We've a had a lot of fun being here these last seven months, but like everything in life, the fun has to come to an end a decade too early," the comedian joked during his opening monologue. "As I set off for exciting new career opportunities, I just want to make one thing clear to everyone listening out there: I will do nudity."

The red-headed host is getting $45 million to leave his late-night hosting gig on NBC so that Jay Leno can return to the 11:35 p.m. slot from prime time, where his ratings had been sagging.

As for how history will remember the late-night showdown, O'Brien has at least one idea. "HBO, when you make the movie about this whole NBC late night fiasco, I'd like to be played by Academy-Award winning actress Tilda Swinton," he cracked.

Leno's new "Tonight Show" will premiere March 1, followed by "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" at 12:35 a.m. O'Brien is free to sign a contract with another network beginning on September. 1, NBC said.

Although his opening monologue was light, before wrapping up the show by singing a song with guest Will Ferrell, O'Brien expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his fans and took the high road, thanking NBC for all the years he spent at the company.

"There has been a lot of speculation in the press about what I legally can and can't say about NBC. To set the record straight, tonight I am allowed to say anything I want. And what I want to say is this: between my time at "Saturday Night Live," "The Late Night Show," and my brief run here on the "Tonight Show," I have worked with NBC for over 20 years. Yes, we have our differences right now and yes, we're going to go our separate ways, but this company has been my home for most of my adult life. I am enormously proud of the work we have done together, and I want to thank NBC for making it all possible.

"Walking away from the "Tonight Show" is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Making this choice has been enormously difficult," O'Brien continued. "This is the best job in the world, I absolutely love doing it, and I have the best staff and crew in the history of the medium. But despite this sense of loss, I really feel this should be a happy moment. Every comedian dreams of hosting the "Tonight Show" and, for seven months, I got to. I did it my way, with people I love, and I do not regret a second. I've had more good fortune than anyone I know and if our next gig is doing a show in a 7-11 parking lot, we'll find a way to make it fun.

"Finally, I have to say something to our fans. The massive outpouring of support and passion from so many people has been overwhelming. The rallies, the signs, all the goofy, outrageous creativity on the Internet, and the fact that people have traveled long distances and camped out all night in the pouring rain to be in our audience, made a sad situation joyous and inspirational. To all the people watching, I can never thank you enough for your kindness to me and I'll think about it for the rest of my life. "

Although O'Brien did not end up winning the late-night battle, he remains optimistic about his future, he said, and hopes his fans do the same.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere," he concluded. "Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen.

Heroes was the Most Pirated Show of 2009

Way to go, kids! It's all your fault that Heroes will be canceled! Well, not really, but you're pushing it. According to the blog TorrentFreak, which reports on the Internet black market known as file-sharing, NBC's Heroes was the most illegally downloaded television show of 2009.

The stat shouldn't be taken as gospel, however, as the site merely lists the number of downloads for a show's most popular episode and not its entire season run (not to mention that it's tough to swallow empirical data from a site with "freak" in its name). Still, TorrentFreak claims that the most-pirated episode of Heroes (the particulars of the episode were not disclosed) was "stolen" approximately 6,580,000 times. That's over half a million more than the show's average TV audience.

Overall, sci-fi and action dominated the list of most-pirated shows, with Lost (6,310,000 downloads), Prison Break (3,450,000), Dexter (2,780,000), and House (2,590,000) rounding out the top five. Eight of the top ten entries were broadcast shows, and two were premium-cable shows (Dexter and no. 10 True Blood), indicating that TV piracy isn't committed primarily by those who don't want to pay extra for HBO and Showtime, but rather by those who don't want to pay for cable at all and are willing to watch on their dinky computer monitors.

And while online piracy is thought to be the realm of the male basement nerd, both Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives made the top ten list. Either female basement nerds are getting into the act too, or the guys out there are getting soft. That's what happens when you dudes gender-swap and level a female night elf to 70 in World of Warcraft.

Overall, the takeaway from these numbers isn't that there are millions of horrible people out there stealing TV (a large chunk of the downloads is thought to be from foreign markets that can't get the shows legally), it's this: Television viewing habits are changing. Networks shouldn't be looking for ways to stop illegal downloading, but rather to find a way to make it work to their advantage.

Swine influenza (also called H1N1 flu, swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) is an infection by any one of several types of swine influenza virus. Q: What is swine flu?

Emotional farewell to King of Pop

Michael Jackson's family and fans have said farewell to the pop superstar at an emotional memorial service.

Jackson's daughter Paris, 11, fought back tears to describe him as "the best father you could ever imagine".

The singer's coffin was placed in front of the stage during the event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles after an earlier private funeral.

Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey paid tribute before the family joined a sombre finale on stage.

Jackson's siblings, children and parents took part in a chorus of We Are The World and Heal the World.

His family, with the brothers each wearing a single jewelled glove in Jackson's honour, then took to the podium.

Comforted by aunts and uncles, Paris stepped up the microphone. "I just wanted to say, ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine," she said.

"And I just wanted to say I love him so much."

Marlon Jackson spoke of the troubles his brother faced. "We will never, never, understand what he endured," he said.

"Not being able to walk across the street without a crowd gathered around, being judged, being ridiculed. How much pain can one take?

"Maybe now, Michael, they will leave you alone."

'Nothing strange'

Jackson's brother Jermaine earlier took to the stage to perform the song Smile. It was said to be the King of Pop's favourite song, featuring the lyric: "Smile though your hearts are aching."

At the start of the service, Jackson's brothers carried the golden flower-draped coffin into the arena to the strains of a choir singing "Hallelujah, hallelujah, we're going to see the King" from the song Soon And Very Soon.

Mariah Carey was among the artists paying tribute, performing I'll Be There and ending with the words: "We miss you."

Stevie Wonder said: "This is a moment I wished I didn't live to see come. Michael I love you."

Civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton gave a fiery speech, telling Jackson's children: "There weren't nothing strange about your daddy.

"It was strange what your daddy had to deal with but he dealt with it."

Motown boss Berry Gordy, who signed the Jackson Five, ended his tribute with the words: "Michael, thank you for the joy, thank you for the love. you will live in my heart forever."

KING OF POP DIES AT 50...R.I.P

Michael Jackson, the singer, has died after suffering a suspected heart attack. He was 50.

The Los Angeles coroner, Fred Corral, said that Jackson was pronounced dead after arriving at UCLA Medical Centre in full cardiac arrest. A post mortem examination is likely to take place today.

Paramedics who responded to an emergency call to the singer's home in Los Angeles said that he had stopped breathing by the time they arrived. Jackson's brother Jermaine told reporters: "My brother, the legendary King of Pop , passed away on Thursday June 25 at 2.26pm.

"We believe he suffered a cardiac arrest at his home, however the cause of his death is unknown until the results of the autopsy are known. The personal physician who was with him at the time attempted to resuscitated him."

Jackson is widely credited with revolutionising pop music with albums including Thriller, Bad and Dangerous but his career was tainted with allegations of child abuse.

He was due to perform a highly anticipated 50-date "farewell" residency at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, south-east London, starting next month. Fears for his health emerged after he postponed the earliest dates, and his aides were forced to deny that he was fighting skin cancer.

Born in 1958, Jackson made his musical debut with four of his older brothers in the Jackson Five before embarking on a solo career.

His 1982 album Thriller - which included the hits Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller - is still the best-selling album of all time, with more than 26?million copies sold. His lifetime sales tally is estimated at 750?million.

In 1994, he married Lisa Marie Presley, the 26-year-old daughter of Elvis Presley. The couple separated two years later and Jackson later married Debbie Rowe, a 37-year-old nurse he met while undergoing plastic surgery in 1997. They had two children, Prince Michael and Paris Michael Katherine, before divorcing in 1999.

Conan O'Brien's 'Tonight Show' Debut

Conan O'Brien debuted as host of "The Tonight Show" Monday with a "run" across the country to Los Angeles and some other comedy bits emphasizing his entry into a strange new culture. He joined a line of predecessors Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson and Jay Leno on television's most historic late-night franchise.

"I think I've timed this move perfectly," he said in his opening monologue. "I'm on a last-place network, I moved to a state that's bankrupt and 'The Tonight Show' is sponsored by General Motors."

O'Brien spent 17 years as host of NBC's "Late Night" in New York, and the move up one hour has been in the works for five years. Leno, his immediate predecessor, will do a weeknight prime-time show on NBC. The workaholic Leno will start "in two days, three days tops," O'Brien joked. Actually, it's in September.

O'Brien christened a new studio on the Universal City lot with a handsome art deco look. The stage has a blue glass background for the opening monologue, before O'Brien retreats to a desk in front of a sparkling backdrop of Los Angeles.

From the top, O'Brien showed the silly comic style that sets him apart from Leno, with more comedy skits filmed earlier and less reliance on jokes in front of the studio audience. The first one showed O'Brien marking off a to-do list with "move to L.A." left undone, as a camera panned a New York skyline outside his window.

Missing Air France jet 'hit by electric fault'

An Air France plane feared to have crashed in the Atlantic with 228 people aboard reported electrical problems in stormy weather before it lost contact, the airline said Monday, describing the loss as a "catastrophe."

The incident involves an Air France Airbus A330-200.

The Airbus A330-200 sent an automatic message signaling equipment failure as it hit turbulence early in its 11-hour flight from Rio de Janeiro to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, Air France CEO Pierre-Henri Gourgeon told a news conference.

The last known contact with the plane was at 1:33 a.m. GMT (8:33 p.m. Sunday night ET), according to the Brazilian Air Force.

Brazil says it has launched two air force squadrons to hunt near the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha in the Atlantic Ocean, 365 kilometers (226 miles) from its coast, although the plane vanished outside the country's radar coverage.

France's ambassador in the west African country of Senegal told CNN affiliate BFMTV that French military aircraft had been dispatched to search the coast of Senegal.

Flight AF 447, took off shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday local time (6 p.m. Sunday ET). It was carrying 126 men, 82 women, seven children and a baby, in addition to the crew, Air France said.

"I can say without doubt that this is a catastrophe," Gourgeon said, adding "the entire Air France company and its staff are very moved and affected by this."

There has been speculation it was struck by lightning, but that should not bring down a modern airliner, former Airbus pilot John Wiley told CNN.

Somber members of the families could be seen entering a special terminal set aside for them at Charles de Gaulle airport.

A crisis center was being set up at at the airport to deal with anxious relatives and friends waiting for news of passengers. Airbus has opened a crisis room and their flight safety team is in place, a company spokesperson told CNN. Airbus is working closely with authorities and Air France, he said, declining to comment further.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy expressed his "very deep concern" and asked the government "to implement every effort to find the plane," according to a statement from his office.

Agence France-Presse quoted France's Environment Minister Jean Louis Borloo saying that it was extremely unlikely the plane had been hijacked.

Gourgeon said the aircraft involved was a new Airbus piloted by a "particularly experienced crew."

Analyst Kieran Daly of online aviation news service Air Transport Intelligence told CNN that the lack of communication with the aircraft "does suggest it was something serious and catastrophic."

He said the aircraft involved is believed to be one delivered to Air France in April 2005.

CNN air travel expert Richard Quest says the twin-engined plane, a stalwart of trans-Atlantic routes, has an impeccable safety record.

"It has very good range, and is extremely popular with airlines because of its versatility," he said.

Finally...Prison Break comes to an end...

So after 4 seasons of action, drama n adventure, Prison Break finally came to an end last Friday in an action-packed 2hr finale. I've been following this from Season 1 (my bro told me about the show) and frankly, am happy its over cause I feel they just kept dragging the show after the Season 1 which I'm sure was the best among the audience. Anyways the Fox series ended its 4 year run with an emotional note where they show the life of the remaining survivors 4 years into the future and the BIG TWIST - MICHEAL is DEAD.

Man Utd : EPL Champs Again...

Manchester United have won the Premier League title after a scoreless draw with Arsenal. Needing just a point from the 2 remaining matches, they made sure they secure it at home in front of their full-capacity crowd. They now equal Liverpool's record of 18 Premier League titles and Sir Alex Ferguson has already made his intention to add more. They now have 3 titles this year - World Club Championship, League Cup and the league title - with the champions league final against Barcelona on May 27th in Rome, where they will hope to defend their trophy.

Today's result means Liverpool who were at their heels from the beginning and had their chances of winning the league, will now have to wait till the next season to again try their luck.

After having won the first leg 1-0 at home a fortnight ago, Man Utd. destroyed Arsenal 3-1 in the second leg at the Emirates on Tuesday to seal their second straight Champions League. In doing so, they also become the first defending champions to enter the final since Juventus did in 1997. Goals from Park and Ronaldo (twice) ensured their passage to the final. But they will miss Darren Fletcher for the final after he picked up a red card for a foul. The appeal has been overturned by UEFA.

After a draw at Nou Camp 2 weeks back, which by the way was the first time this season they haven't scored at home, Barcelona booked their ticket to Rome on away goals rule after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Wednesday. Chelsea were all secured to make it an all English final again when Essien scored in the 9th minute. That lead was there all the way till the 3rd minute of added time when Iniesta scored a superb goal to put the Spaniards to the final. The Chelsea players were all furious at the referee after not having 2-3 penalty calls overturned. After the match, Drogba even went so close of hitting him.....loll...but he's apologized for it...

The semi-finals are set for this years Champions League after the second leg of the quarters finished this past week. Chelsea, Barcelona, Arsenal and defending champions Manchester United all made it through. I guess we all can expect an all English final this season too...

e top of their league with a 6-point lead over rivals and defending champs Real Madrid while Chelsea, who under interim manager Guus Hiddink just seem unstoppable. The Blues, who beat Liverpool 7-5 on aggregate in the quarters, also has an eye on the league title - currently 3rd n 4 points behind Man U - and the FA Cup - vs. Everton on May 30. Whoever wins this tie, its sure to produce 2 great games and some fantastic goals.

Players to watch : Drogba and Messi

My prediction : Chelsea win 3-2 on aggregate.

Nothing has to be said about these two teams rivalry. Not even about the coaches. This game is going to be one hell of a kind and tensions will sure rise b/w them as they fight out for a place in the finals. Arsene Wenger's young side is in good form after a bad campaign in the middle while Ferguson's boys are having some problems which i don't know - but mainly i guess injuries. Anyways sure to be a game to watch.

Players to watch : Ronaldo and Adebayor

My prediction : My favorites Man U will see it through 2-0 on aggregate or it will end in penalties, which again Man U will win.

After knocking down the refree, Randy Orton went down to take the Sledgehammer which is often the equalizer for Triple H. But no1 plays with The Game. He hit him with the Punt, Sledgehammer and then the Pedigree to win the match.

John Cena def. Edge & Big Show (New World Heavyweight Champion)

John Cena beat the odds and beat the Edge and Big Show to capture the World Heavyweight title once again.

The victory was a sweet measure of revenge for the Raw superstar who saw The Ultimate Opportunist finagle his way into the Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out and emerge from the evil structure with Cena’s gold. Ever since that shocking night in February, Cena set his sights on regaining the World Heavyweight Championship. Like a tenacious pit bull, Cena kept himself close to the trio of Smackdown General Manager, her husband, Edge, and Big Show. Wherever they went – Raw or SmackDown – he was right there behind them.

Cena’s persistence paid off. After waging a brutal war with his opponents, Cena summoned from deep within and hit the Rated-R Superstar with an Attitude Adjustment. Next, he hoisted then 400-pound plus World’s Largest Athlete atop his shoulders and – with the 70,000 in attendance cheering him on – Cena dropped Big Show with a thunderous Attitude Adjustment. After the carnage, Cena pinned Big Show to regain his gold.

CM Punk wins Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk regained that status from last year, making history as the first person ever to win multiple Money in the Bank Ladder Matches. He was my favorite anyways. This match saw a lot of high-flying moves and so much of athletism. But CM Punk prevailed against all and became the new #1 contender to any WWE title which he can use anytime in the next 1 year.

Whoever conjured up that old cliché obviously knew nothing of Undertaker. After an epic battle pitting shadow against light, The Demon from Death Valley was finally able to bury the soul of “Mr. WrestleMania,” Shawn Michaels. A triumph of darkness, the victory propels Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak to an unprecedented 17-0.

Slumdog Rules Oscars...

The rags to riches tale Slumdog Millionaire scooped home 8 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director. The film was nominated in 9 categories and only missed out in the Best Sound Editing category, which was won by The Dark Knight. It was a big night for India too, as their musical maestro A.R Rahman won 2 awards for Best Song and Best Score from Slumdog Millionaire. The 3rd award for India came from Rezul Pookutty for Best Sound Mixing, again for Slumdog Millionaire.

Sean Penn won Best Actor for his role in The Milk while Kate Winslet won Best Actress for The Reader. On the whole it was Slumdog that ruled the night. The fairy tale run of this movie had a happy ending.

So the big day had finally come for the Americans as they witnessed history in the making as President elect Senator Barack H. Obama took oath on 20th January, 2008 to be the 44th President of the Country. He was the first African-American president in the history of the country. Vice President elect Joe Biden also took the oath at the Captiol, where there was a turnout of more than 2million people.

Around the world too, the whole media was covering the swearing in ceremony with special reports of their own. I personally was watching the entire ceremony with my family.

Now all that we have to wait and see is if the newly elected President can make anything happen or change the way things are now. After all, he has a very big task ahead of him. Can he stay with his slogan of "YES WE CAN"????Only time will tell us. Anyways, Congrats Mr. Obama.

Finally...Jeff Hardy - WWE Champion

Ok...for those WWE fans out there, this post is for you guys....after almost a whole year of having his sights set at the WWE Championship, Jeff Hardy finally gets it in the final pay-per-view of the year Armageddon which happened past Sunday.

I've always been a big fan of Jeff Hardy right from the start. And for me the Hardy Boys were just TOO GOOOD...dey were the best....Jus going back on the whole year, Jeff was there right from the start as a challenger for the title. But he always fell short in the end. But on Sunday, he silenced all his critics by claiming the title in a Triple Threat Match vs. Edge n Triple H....He surely deserved to win this one as he was at it rite from the start...and as most of you would hav reacted OMG in de end....so was I...he came from nowhere in the end to giv dat Swanton Bomb and finish it off...

Royal Rumble ( vs. Randy Orton) : The first PPV of the year and he's the challenger. But just couldn't keep up wid Randy in the end.
No Way Out (Elimination Chamber) : He was up against the best - Shawn Micheals, Triple H (winner), Umaga, JBL n Chris Jericho. But this one was not his type of match and he paid for it heavily.
Unforgiven (Scramble Match) : This was a major turning point for Hardy. He almost went on to win the championship until the last 10sec when Triple H hit MVP wid a Pedigree for the win. It was soo close that Hardy just couldn't believe it. He later went on to become the No.1 contender for the title.
No Mercy (vs. Triple H) : Despite a valiant effort from Jeff Hardy, Triple H prevailed to retain the title. He was so close again, but no Gold for Hardy.
Cyber Sunday (vs. Triple H) : The WWE Universe put their faith in Hardy once again voting him over Vladimir Kozlov. Despite the vote, Hardy came up short in his attempt to become WWE Champion, falling to Triple H once again. It was a match that he almost one when he hit the Swanton Bomb on Triple H. But he climbed back the ropes again to assure himself a victory which led to his downfall again.
Survivor Series : Although he was supposed to be involved in a Triple Threat Match with Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov, a strange attack that morning in his hotel room left Jeff Hardy unable to compete. So it was a one-on-one match b/w the other two competitors. But in a turnaround of events, Edge showed up and delivered a sphere to Triple H. But Jeff Hardy did come out and do some damage. But the Ultimate Opportunist struck again pinning Triple H for the title.
Armageddon (vs. Triple vs. Edge) : The last pay-per-view of the year. A triple threat match for the WWE Championship. Triple H vs. Edge vs. Jeff Hardy. This was my fav. among all. Not because Jeff Hardy won, but because of how he won it. He was speared on the announcers table, put off from the rope by Vladimir Kozlov...still he prevailed to be the new WWE Champion. Congrats Jeff...finally...

For those of you who haven't watched that match at Armageddon, do something to watch it as that's the only match which is interesting in the whole PPV.

Christmas at Le Rock, Brigade

Okay...for those of you who don't know wat Le Rock is...its one of the best pubs in Bangalore...its in Brigade Road...the ambiance is pretty good n so is the music...ofcourse the drinks too...hehehe...

I was passing by Le Rock today as saw so many people taking pics...so i took a peek...and this is wat i saw...

Pretty amazing actually...for those dumb people who still dint figure out wat it is...its a Christmas tree made out of Fosters beer cans...it was really good...guess u should see it yourself over there....

OK...am not someone who watches movies very often....and am not a very big fan of movies too...for example, when all the guys ere took tickets to go and see DARK KNIGHT, i jus dint go as i dint have mood to go n watch it...same with so many other movies...but yest we watched Schindler's List in the afternoon and Fashion in the night...n surprisingly i watched both...but i really liked fashion...

For those of you who don't know abt the movie...the movie is about the life of Meghana Mathur (Priyanka Chopra), who is a gal from a small town in North India with the dreams and determination to make it a reality : BE A SUPERMODEL. It shows a somewhat big picture of the fashion industry and the rise n fall of models. Fashion explores the world of style through the emotional personal journey of the key people that make the industry - the dream-weavers of that elaborate world of glamour: the models, designers, photographers, businessmen, agencies etc. The film is directed by Madhur Bhandarkar whose other films include Page 3 n Corporate to name a few.

If you haven't watched Fashion, i would recommend u to watch it as its a pretty good movie. I'd give 3/5 in my ratings...

Exploring 'Friendship'

So what is it about friendship that makes it such a huge seller at the box office? Okay, let me rephrase that.

How is it that such a storyline (two male friends showing off their well-toned bodies; having a great sense of style; living by the sea, falling helplessly in love with the same girl) becomes a super-duper box office hit?

Karan Johar found the miracle formula in Kal Ho Na Ho. And looks like he decided to bring home the moolah with more of the same theme. Who doesn’t remember Kantabai’s horror? Or the chemistry that Sharukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan shared for those few ludicrous screen moments?

Dostana seems to explore alternate sexuality in the guise of laugh-out-loud entertainment. It is no wonder then that the buzz on the Answers site too is all about Dostana.
