EXPERIENCING NEW ZEAL AND...

I was lifting my hands together with the people in the hall worshipping and declaring the promises of God in our lives. Bruce Monk was leading the people to act as if lifting the ceiling to signify lifting off any lid or anything which restricts the breakthroughs in our lives. Tears were flowing, my heart was pounding, my words of prayers were these - "it has been a long time which I have allowed fears and doubt restrict the blessings and potentials which God has given me. Though I have done a lot of things worthwhile but I know deep in my heart this is not just it. I may flourished in many areas of my life but actually I have realized that it is possible that you can hide one potential by another potential. This potential is being an artist, and somehow it covered my other potential which is being a messenger/preacher of God. I have realized that it could be because I got tired of religion, the mock and condemnation of "righteous" people, and of course, maybe I got tired with myself of this certain aspect of my life. And what I did was just set it aside, and just put it in oblivion. But tonight, the Spirit convicted me that this is more than just a potential set aside, it was a call which I deferred. Somehow, self-condemnation and other things have restricted me. As Glen Berteau's words thundered in my ears, "Your blessings depend on what you settle" so the more the inspiration of God's words gripped my heart. I know I have to lift all of these, and I know it is the Spirit which is the only One who can do this." So I prayed and I declared all things which restricted me all these times. I will not settle. I will go for what the Lord has called to be, and to do. It doesn't matter what the world says, what matters is what the Lord says.

Just to be in New Zealand is already a miracle for me. My Visa application has been turned down in 5 grounds but the Consul granted my visa only on the basis of "my good purpose and good intention." Actually it is not just a good purpose, but God's purpose. I travelled alone from Manila to Thailand and on to New Zealand. It was a great time of solitude with my DaddyGod. Every minute was a breath of thanksgiving and somehow there are answers God is revealing me.

And here I am, standing here, lifting my hands and embracing God's call again. I declared "No more restrictions, no more holding back." The more I was surprised when Glen Berteau, the main speaker, quoted my life verse in John 12: 24 which says, "Truly, truly, except the seed fall into the ground, and die, it abides alone, but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit." Suddenly, my life verse flashed to me in a new light. I suddenly realized God is saying to me, "Son, your qualification to serve me is not that you are good, nor that you are talented, or you graduated in a Bible college, or you are good in preaching and in leading, or you are educated. None of all those things qualify you to me." I answered, "Yes, Lord, the truth was, I may not even qualify because once in my life, I have failed you greatly." God answered me, "Failed? The truth is, Son, that is what I need you to be. The seed must fall to the ground and die. Can't you see it? Failing is your qualification. Now, you no longer depend on anything good about you. You depend on me now. And that qualifies you. The thing you thought destroyed you is actually the thing which qualifies you. Why? because it is through this my grace abounds. From now on, when you serve me, people will never see your talent. They will see me. They will not see your accomplishment, but they will see me. They will not see your goodness, but they will see me. Some may even mock you but they can never deny that it is my grace which makes you stand until now, and because of that they will still see me. And in this way, it is my Name which is only glorified. Rise up, Son, embrace this new zeal."

Right there, I embraced God's mighty grace for me. Right there was deliverance and freedom day for me. Right there, I have this new zeal. Yes, it is not reviving the old, but a revolution of the new.

I felt this new zeal revving inside my soul.
And the Spirit somehow is challenging me the more -

"Thank you Lord for this new zeal!" I exclaimed.
"New zeal and,..?"the Spirit was moving me.
"Yes, what will be your answer and your choice?"
I answered, "Lord, new zeal and the new me."

I have realized right there and there that God, our God as a consuming fire of passion, will always grant us a new zeal when we ask for it. But just like the name of this country, it somehow asks, "New zeal, and...what?"

Will I add fear?
Will I add doubts?
Will I add negative thoughts?
Will I add pride?
Will I add selfishness?

I have realized that what we add to our new zeal is up to us, but what we add to it can strengthen or vanish it. If we add faith, love, humility and love for people to it, it will accomplish its purpose. But if we add fear, doubt, negativism, pride and selfishness to it, the new zeal can never be a part of any these things and for sure it will vanish. So, I made a decision.

God encouraged me -
Why will you add fear when I am with you, and I am always for you?
Why will you add doubts when I can even make the impossible, possible?
Why will you add negative things when I promised you that I will bless and prosper you?
Why will you add pride when I am the One empowering you?
Why will you add selfishness when I designed you to help and save others?

I lifted my hands.
I cried to God in declaration, hope and love.
I was so awesomely touched by Him.
This new zeal showed me that no failure can fully disqualify us from serving Him, in contrary, Grace qualifies!
All these things were just kept in my heart through out the travel, and now I have written about this to testify what God did to me in New Zealand. As one dear person approached me and with a revelation from the Spirit and with great compassion told me, "John, you don't have to stay in the shadows. Rise up!" When she said that, I was overwhelmed that I was pondering about it with tears even when I was already in the plane going back home. I was amazed because it connects to the verse which I claimed before going to New Zealand which says, "Arise, and see the brightness of your shining." I was so overwhelmed.

This is what I experienced in New Zealand.

TOUCHING AN ATHEIST WITH GOD'S LOVE

I remember one time I was helping in counseling students in one campus in partner with one lawyer. This lawyer was so amazed that I am helping their school without any fee, and her heart was touched by goodness. She knew I am a Christian, and somewhat ashamed, she told me that she is an atheist and she hoped it will not offend me.

With a smile, I told her, "It's okay, Mam."

She asked,

"Is it okay with you I don't believe in God?" Many Christians I knew who partnered with me in the past changed their dealings with me when they discovered I am an atheist. They fought me with their Bible standpoint and even separated themselves from me."

Same words I told her,

"It doesn't matter. God believes in you. And if God believes in you and loves you, why can't I?" I told her, "In behalf of those who said they are Christians and did these things to you, I ask an apology. However, if Jesus is alive today, He will not do that. What will He do? He will just talk to you, listen to your problems, your past frustrations and your aspirations. He will still love you no matter what, and He will not force any agenda to you. He will win you with HIs love."

After a few months, after a crusade in the campus which thousand has accepted Christ, she was overwhelmed with the response of the students. There In the middle of the basketball court, where we were standing, she accepted Jesus in her heart with tears in her eyes.

When love is felt, the message is heard.

DECLARE GOOD THINGS TO YOUR LIFE

You have been declaring or saying bad things about your life all those times and it is time to change it. What you are now is the product of what you have declared in the past. All those complaints and sighs of frustrations will come alive because our words has creative power. There is no good of emphasizing the setbacks of your life. It will just pull you down and the more you inviting misery to your life.

When Jesus came into your life, your life had a radical change. He promised that everything became new, but you must believe it, say it, declare it and live it. You must declare good things to your life. If God has declared good things to your life, why can't you? God declared that He will do new things in your life. He declared that you are more than conqueror. He declared that nothing and no one can separate you from the love of God. He declared that you were designed now to triumph. Declare these words in your life.

It is now time to turn your life around. Declare good things in your life. Yes, there will still be limitations and challenges, but instead these challenges make you retreat and make you say bad things, take these challenges instead and declare God's promises over them. It is time to declare that you are a winner, you are blessed and the great things are yet to come.

FOLLOW GOD'S DESIGN FOR YOU

It's has been awhile that I have not updated this blog. I have full of days recently, yes, not just busy but full of days. Yes, I have fullest of blessings. What I have declared, believed and claimed from God have already started. I have stepped up to what God has designed me for.

I have full of days since I was started not just one, but four businesses recently. Indeed, the promise I claimed from God for 2011 was double blessings, and God has been doubling my blessings all the way. Instead of just one, He blessed me to start four - one was apparel business, another was my own creative designs studio, one is designs for churches, and the other was book publication. Isn't God great?

I am also starting my own advocacy and community project which will help impoverished youth to discover and harness their potentials in arts and creative designs. Indeed, it is not just "the best is yet to come" but "the best is already right now."

Contemplating of all I have gone through in life and the present blessings He has paved for me, I realized the following things -

About Potential
This is what I realized -

God will not give you a gift, a talent or a potential which He will not intend to use you to bless you and to bless others. God has given you this potential with a purpose. You need to believe God, harness your potential and unleash it in due time as paved by God.

Don't allow anyone to determine your potential. Don't allow anything to restrict your potential. Many people will try to design life for you but they are not the designer of your life. It is only God. You don't have to follow God's design for someone because you are uniquely different. Don't even let religion design your life because for sure it is just based on the preference of the leaders or the uniformity they want in life, but it is not God's design for you. Be the person God has designed you to be.

Discover your purpose, calling, gifts, talents and experiences. Those will not intertwine without a purpose. For sure you have them because it is God's design for you. Be thankful for the potential God has given you. You were designed by God as a winner, as the head not the tail, as a victor and as a very blessed person. Follow that design.

About Preparation
This is what I realized -

All of your experiences are but preparations for greater things. Yes, even your past failures were preparations in molding you the person God wants you to be. There is no accident in God's sight. Don't call it "failure", it is just a molding point for our lives. I have realized that even irritations are but preparations for promotions. God always prepare us for blessings. I fully believed I was prepared for blessings and greater things. All the stories, the ideas, the people, the concepts, the improvement of skills and development are all but preparation for the breakthroughs God is preparing for you. You were designed by God not to be failure but to be a success. God designed you to overcome and win any challenges in life.

About Purpose
This is what I realized -

The purpose of my potential is not just for me but for others. The gift that I have are meant to be shared. I always believe that art is not art unless shared. So I can also say, "life is not life unless shared." This is why I am so excited for the advocacy which I will soon start. This is the new thing which I will do. It is an awesome experience when you fully understand your potential, your purpose and your life story blend into one. This is equivalent when dream and reality becomes one. This is enlightenment. I have realized that life is to be lived with joy, purpose, fullness and happiness. There is no need to be cynical about life for life can be enjoyed to the fullest. God has designed us to live life abundantly.

And just like the process of art- from concept, to actual painting, to revisions, to displaying to gallery and to the delight of the audience, our life is like that. But joy is not reserved at the start or at the end of the process. Joy is in the process. Joy is in the journey not in the destination. This is why I am enjoying every step of the way as I go along establishing the businesses, helping the community and being passionate in sharing the love of God to the world- in the way He designed me to be. Yes, I don't have to be completely like just the rest. Everybody has their own calling and design of God. This is how God designed me to be, then I will be how God designed me to be.

So go. Discover God's design for you. Be inspired but you don't have to copy me. You are uniquely different. Follow God's design for you.

A radical truth from God -

Let the weak say they are strong. - Joel 3: 10

It didn't say, "Let the weak say they are weak."

Most of the times when we are weak, we complain and emphasize our weakness. Most of the times, we declare our discouragements, our disappointments and our frustrations. And the more we speak about our weakness, the more we get weak and oftentimes, this aggravates to doubt, fear, and anger. God says in this passage, that we must declare the opposite. When we are weak, we must declare we are strong.

This does not mean that God doesn't care of our weakness. The truth is the opposite - God cares for us so much that He is giving a formula for us how to be strong. This also doesn't mean that we ignore our weaknesses. The truth is clear, God recognizes our weakness. He said, "Let the weak..." so it means God knows our weakness. The truth is - God is offering a formula for us how to be strong and what to say when we are weak. And God said when we are weak, we must say we are strong.

The reason is this - our life go to the direction of what we say. Our words has a powerful creative power to change things. God wants us to say " we are strong" when we are weak, because there is no need of emphasizing weakness, but rather to emphasize our strength in God.

Let the weak say they are strong.

It also didn't say, "Let the weak think that they are strong."

To think is not enough. We must declare what we believe. This is the reason why "faith comes by hearing", and not by reading the word of God alone. When we hear, it means someone spoke, and it includes us in this regard. We must speak the word of God so that we can hear. And by so doing, our faith increase and our strength too.

Let the weak say they are strong.

It didn't also say, "Let the weak invite friends to talk about their weakness."

Our weakness can be passed to others when we emphasize too much about it. Words of discouragement can influence others. God said, "let the weak say they are strong."

You produce what you say. Your life go to the direction of what you declare. If you are weak, you can never be strong by saying you are weak. Better declare and say that you are strong. This is not my idea. This is God's. Say what God wants you to say.

So when you are weak, you know now what to say.

PROPHESY GOOD THINGS AND BLESSINGS FOR YOUR LIFE

The word of God says, "We will eat the fruit of our lips." It simply means that we will produce what we are saying. In essence, every time we speak, we are "prophesying" our future.

If we always complain, we are projecting a future filled with lack and disappointments. If we always say "I will never be good" then it will happen. If we always say, "I will never progress" then you are projecting this to your life. Whatever you say, you are prophesying your future.

5 years from now, you will be by what words you are saying right now. So, why not use words to bless your life? Why not speak words which releases blessings to your life and to your future?

Declare that you are a child of God - so loved by God and that God's plans for you is to bless you. Declare that you will be prosperous. Declare what you want in your life not the things you don't want. Declare the promises of God in your life. Declare your dreams. Declare what you want for your family. Declare the fulfillment of your goals.

This is your life. Why prophesy things that are bad for you when God already laid in His words His promise that He gave you an abundant and victorious life? Use words to bless your life.

Prophesy good things for your future by speaking faith-filled words.

The general approach for a victorious life starts in this -

Be Thankful

The verse said,

"Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

The truth is this, we don't actually have to pray to have victory.

You don't ask what you already have.

God has made us victorious thru what Jesus has done on the Cross.

We are already victors.

You need to claim it, believe it and be thankful for it.

When you are thankful that you have a sure victory everyday,

you will automatically live as a victor.

Believe That You Are Greatly Loved

The verse said,

"Therefore, my BELOVED brethren..."

The word "beloved" originated from God. He is Love.

And the key to be tough over any challenges is to believe that you are loved.

Why is it that there are some who are depressed in life though they already have all material things they want?

It's because they need the most important of all - "to be loved."

When you believe you are loved, you can proceed without hesitancy, without doubt,

without guilt and without condemnation.

Take note that the word "beloved" came before the word " be steadfast."

If you can't believe you are loved, you can never be steadfast in life.

Be Tough

The verse said,

"Be steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord."

Toughness is not being cruel. Toughness is not being without emotion.

Toughness is not being filled with anger and hate.

A true tough person is a person who can love.

Look at how fathers will risk everything just to save their children who are in dangers. Look at how a man will forsake everything just for a love of a woman. And just consider how the Lord Jesus forsook everything just to die on the cross. That's real toughness, man!

You can only be tough if you know you are loved.

God loves you.

The people who knows and believes that Someone loves them

are the people who can endure any difficulties and who can withstand any trials.

A person without love can easily quit, and will easily give up.

Love - this is tough.

Remember, you are already a victor.

THE TRUE MEANING OF THE WORD "COMMEND" IN ROMANS 5:8

I have known and have been familiar with the verse Romans 5: 8 -

"But God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

But only this time I have discovered what it really means why it said, "commended." Some even used the word "commanded" mistakenly. But the word used was "Commended." I thought the meaning of this word just means -

- demonstrated;
- gave;

But when I traced back to its original Greek word, it's Greek word is "sinustemi." You will be amazed what it means. The word actually means -

- to place together;

- to put in the same place;

- to stand or near side by side;

Isn't this amazing to discover? So Romans 5:8 means more than we usually understand. What God is saying to us through this verse is that God did not gave us love, but He stand near to us side by side, and this is through the incarnation of Jesus Christ. It is different when He just gave the gift of eternal from He himself became the gift, became human, and stood with us side by side. "Commended" means that His love was ultimately demonstrated when Jesus came down and died on the cross for us.

So now we can fully understand why His name "Emmanuel" means "God with us." He promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. It means, "Jesus is with us- side by side." It means that no matter what happen in life, Jesus is with us side by side. It also means "no more condemnation." God the Father cannot condemn us because Jesus is with us side by side. And the most amazing thing about this was He chose to stand with us side by side while we were yet still sinners. So meaning, Jesus loves us fully and unconditionally. This means too that your victory is sure and secure because it depends on you holding Him, but Him holding you. Yes, we are with Jesus all the time, side by side.

That is the meaning of the word "commend."

TO ALL EMO's, THIS IS FOR YOU

I have ministered to many EMO's in various community, schools and churches. Oftentimes, they have been looked at with disdain and prejudice just because of how they look. Good thing, God don't judge us based on outward appearance. I have experienced that people who look rebellious are just actually people who are needing love.

I have encountered group of young people in one campus who were kick-out by the school because they started to make cuts in their arms using a cutter. When I counseled them, each one of them shared their frustrations and pains in life. One has a broken family, another has been physically abused. And goes the story of each one trailing stories of frustrations, self-pity, self-condemnation and guilt.

Oftentimes, these young people have been misjudged just because of their looks, their hair-style and their music. Even churches has the wrong goal to change their culture and their looks without addressing the pain and the reasons why they are doing Emo. Instead of receiving love, what they received is prejudice and rejection. All they need is to be listened at, to be cared for, to be accepted, and to be helped.

One Emo asked me, "Does Jesus loves an Emo like me?"
I told him the stories of the "emo's" in the BIble - the lunatic whom Jesus healed, the demonized boy, and Mary Magdalene. And I showed her my own scars in my left and right arms, "Even before this emo culture has emerged, people has been already struggling with self-hate, depression, frustrations and guilt. It's as old as the world. But there is hope. I experienced this freedom and I want to share it to you."

I told the 13-year-old girl who has the worst cuts in her arms, "You don't have to do this anymore, because Someone has already been wounded for you. Jesus has already been punished, cut and wounded for you. It means you are loved, accepted, and forgiven."

"So then it could mean Jesus is also an Emo in this regard?", the girl asked me.
"Well, if we take Jesus becoming "human" to die on the cross, and "emo's" are humans, then it is right, Jesus is an "emo" in this context. He became "emo" for you and died for you to have freedom. If you were called today as "Emo," He was called in his time as "Man of Sorrows." You don't have to do this because Jesus is hurt looking at you doing this because He loves you so much. He already shouldered all the pains and the sins."

This emo girl together with her friends cried as they received Jesus in their lives.

Emo culture, is just one of the many cultures of the new generation has. Instead of looking at them with disdain and prejudice. I think we can only reach them not through condemnation, but through the love of Jesus.

To all EMO's out there - Jesus loves you.
