Red River Gorge

We were THIS close to renting Harleys or river rafting... but this was more peaceful.
We got a decent workout hiking around Daniel Boone National Forest & up to Natural Bridge, too.
Apparently this part of KY is well known for rock climbing.
We also decided to do some ziplining through the canyon. It's 1,900 feet to the other side of this line!

We checked out the town & went to Hard Rock Cafe, but the Slugger Museum was my favorite.

Quick pit stop at the Cumberland Gap on our drive to South Carolina. Carmen & I ran through the National Park to have the rare opportunity to stand in 3 States at one time.
End of the road for the Colonials of 1665, if they desired British protection.
Here we are at Kentucky, Virginia, & Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains! A few quick push-ups & a run back to the car!

The Battle of Big Hill

Ready to watch the reenactment of a 150 year old Civil War battle.
By the end of today the confederates will take the hill.The reenactment featured authentic uniforms and weapons including rifles, pistols, swords, and a canon.
The battle led to the death of the first Kentucky Union soldier.
No one died here today. Although, it was HOT.

What would a camping trip be without the canoe?
To commemorate the Walupt Lake Reunion Tour we're going on the Hike from hell.
Relentlessly attacked by bugs, scraped up by heavy brush, exhausted from lack of mountain climbing... but the view was worth it.
To celebrate our accomplishment, let's cook up some crawdads.
The best way to cook em? Boil them in beer of course!
Perfect little lobsters!
Nice catch Doug. Brian would be proud.

Parade Time! I don't think any of the kids rode with their own parents but we all had a blast (literally... the radiator cap exploded off the Roadster and spewed an eruption of coolant into the sky half way through the parade)
The family bbq & parade at the office along with Daryl's birthday were a hit!

Israel/Palestine - Day 1

After a few months off, I plan to get back to the blog again, starting with photos from my recent trip to Israel & Palestine in November...My very first look at the Mediterranean Sea from our hotel in Haifa. The previous night we arrived after flying across the nation, then over the Atlantic, then 3 hrs by bus to our beds.
Our staff. The food & hospitality were great by the way. Tour bus, check. Tour group, check. As much as I like it here, I can't wait to hit the road & start exploring!

This study is where St. Jerome translated the Bible into Latin in the 3rd/4th century. It is located at the Church of the Nativity, where Jesus is believed to have been born. Christmas will never be the same for me after visiting Bethlehem this year.

Thanks to Carmen's connections on the East coast, we had good company and a place to stay while visiting the city of brotherly love.
So while we had a day to spare before heading to Israel, we took a tour of Philly.
We had drinks at Ben Franklin's tavern, then spent some time in George Washington's pew.
We looked at some coins...And of course we ate steaks!We conquered the steps...
And checked out some houses on Elfreth's Alley...We found out that this is a beautiful town.

Last day in Mexico feels a little more relaxed.
But we still have some packing to do.
Teamwork till the very end.
Time to go home!Just 3 hours at the border before we're back in the land of freedom.Just enough time to hit the beach before our flight to SeaTac.

Putting the finishing touches on the house today.
We made it to final inspection before mid-day thanks to our fearless leadership team!
And we presented mom with a Bible and the keys to her new house.
Exhausted.But the family who will grow up in this house inspired us to help where we can.So we donated basic living supplies and other gifts that the family can use.
The gifts were well received :) and we said our goodbye's.
We found other teams who were still building.
And we helped them finish their houses.
Sitting down to eat fresh tacos never felt better.
The power of God is awesome. We have a lot to praise Him for.
