SPRING still coming

i know it's still freezing up there in Japan. i hope those survivors have enough blankets, warm meals and safe drinks. i know it's tough. it's tough no matter how strong and calm they are. it's not an easy task to rebuild. but i believe in them. no matter how long the time would take, how big sacrifice and perseverance they would have.

meanwhile in Libya, Gaddafi forces still continue attacking the civilians who want democracy and freedom. [sigh] saite da ne. who does he think he is.. another Pharaoh? :( and what's up with US's strike. it's already sixth day.. nanda sore, America.. are you still the world superhero who can do everything, anything, something out of nothing? no i guess. coz we are just the same normal human being, deshou.

'what you give, you get back'... every time Israeli military were killing Palestinian civilians, there will be counter attack that injured/killed Israeli civilians. the thing is.. world media always voice up for Israel side and remains silent on real situation of Palestine. frankly, i'm quite happy when Israel sending their aid team to Japan. they should do more positive thing like that. if they could do humanitarian and social work to others, i hope they would do the same to Palestinian. Israeli are smart, wise people. i just wish they'll be gentle, kind and respect towards muslims. .... moral of story: abused no more - violence will brings more violence.

right here in malaysia .... still lots of clowns and puppets who love talking bullshits. crimes rate still high. voice of freedom still low. and ... should i introduce you with our malaysian imelda marcos? emph, disgusting.. totally wasting my time : /

anyway, kuala lumpur still in cloudy mood.

i've been following this long before.. but only now i've a mood to write about this movie.

Takako (Kikuchi Akiko) suddenly quits her job when she heard the man she love is getting married. Soon she receives an offer from her uncle to work at his secondhand bookstore in Jimbocho. Here is the beginning of her day life at Morisaki Bookstore - a unique, beautiful quiet surrounding [as what you expected from books' heaven]. She also meets many kinds of customers [including weirdos]. Takako hadn’t read much in her life. But from time to time... gradually, she's drawn into this world - the world of old books. The movie will bring you her time journey from summer to autumn to winter. Within this period, Takako starts growing up through her new-found love of books and personal experience interacting with people around.

maa... i love a character named 'Takako'. [hwahwa, takako matsu]. last time, in tsuyoshi's Japanese American drama.. there's a character named kimura. i gave a small laugh, thinking "okay, who's gonna be matsu here":P

at first... i thought my Tanaka Rena was in a small role or just a cameo. but not really. she's the co-star. her role play as the bar cafe's waitress. since she was introduced to takako, they've become good friends. i still remember watching the trailer... "hee, is that girl in green is rena? kyaa~ rena-chan... kireiii!"

During press conference also she's really beautiful in her black dress. Kikuchi Akiko [former model] was crying ne. this considered as her movie debut. yappari rena was so gentle and kind - showing her support (well, she always like that to her kouhai anyway. that's why i love her much!).

anyway, i dunno why this Morisaki movie was being connected with the late famous director-writer Ichikawa Jun. [oh ya, that's because Akiko was being planned to be in his movie.]. Ichikawa Jun was a director of rena's Tokyo Marigold (one of my all-time favorite movies). rena respected him much and was grieved over his death on last 19 september 2008. emm, yeah... ichikawa jun is one of my favorite director who had his own unique style works. but i don't understand what's the relationship between Ichikawa Jun and Villon's Wife movie ... unn, wakarimasen.

this movie was setting at Jimbocho. FYI, Jimbocho is a town in Tokyo, a neighborhood with Chiyoda. Jimbocho is very well-known as a center of Tokyo's secondhand used-book stores, publishing houses, distribution warehouses, small book cafes and popular antique-curio (novel and rare decorative stuff ) shopping area. Jimbocho is named after a samurai Nagaharu Jinbo who lived in the area at the end of the 17th century.In 1913, the area was mostly destroyed by a big fire. Later, a university professor named Shigeo Iwanami opened a bookstore (today, it's the famous Iwanami shoten publishing house). Since that, Jimbocho become popular with intellectuals, university students and tourists as "Jimbou - The Book Town".

uwaaa... this definitely gonna be my heaven!

latest about tanaka rena, she's now filming two movies

'The Tales of Genji' as one of ikuta toma's concubines. rena is playing as Rokujo no Miyasudokoro (Princess Yoshiko). after became Saio - serving for 9 years at shrine, she returns and became queen consort to Emperor Murakami and gave birth Princess Noriko. somehow, she was deeply in love with Prince Genji (ikuta toma) but her jealousy brought the death of her rivals; including Genji's lawful wife Aoi (tabe mikako).

yosh, rena in evil's character! ... first matsu, then miho, then yukie, then rena... i wanna see arisa after this. and nanako and amami too.

'Bibito's Poetry' - rena as a former designer, being forced to move from city to countryside. as a granddaughter who needs to manage her family's organic tea plantation. the movie is filming around Oita Prefecture.

oh, btw... it's been said that rena now dating with sato yuki. emm, yeah yeah.
but, i'm still in TsuRena mode. i guess i'll be TSURENA FAN forever. hehe.
well, deep thinking... i have a good enough reason.
why. coz they were coupled. which i believe yes.

final episode of MOTHER yesterday night. sugee na.. final episode suddenly increased to
16.3%. the one and only my watch drama for this season. i'm waiting for my DVD.. and i'm gonna spread this to local community. definitely. it's beautiful.... either smile and tears, it's truly beautiful.

now i can't wait to watch ashida mana with o-matsu in CONFESSION movie. it's already three weeks, Confession movie still ranked no.1 in box-office chart. omedetto matsu. now let's break the record..make it 1-2 months, will ya. oh, it's still on-screen... but this 'made in japan' movie already got so many re-make offers from studios all over the world including hollywood. i can imagine nicole kidman in matsu's role play and sarah jessica parker in kimura yoshino's role play. and really, i love so much Last Flowers song by Radiohead. it's really fits with the mood. and i feel amazed knowing about the outstanding 30-minutes opening scene by matsu. and almost 95 percent who came watched the movie were commenting 'very good' and 'good' in survey. it's already become social phenomenon... thanks to free publicity and words of mouth, people keep coming and world still waiting. ... me too. arghh.

okay spring for MOTHER... and yes, i'm looking forward next summer for GOLD drama - amami and sorimachi. yosh, you can expect the return of 'beach boy'. somehow i love the title.. gold. currently i kinda obsessed with MOTHER... which make me push abe and kimura's dramas aside. hehe. gomen. when i found a 'great beautiful cinematography well-scripted movie stucked in dorama long hours'.. definitely i'll give up all the other glossy doramas.

SYNOPSIS:
Child abuse is arguably one of the cruelest of crimes. But just as despicable, if not worse, is the all-too common tendency of society to turn a blind eye to evidence of such exploitation.

“Mother” is the story of a woman who responds to an abused girl’s silent cries of help. Nao (Yasuko Matsuyuki), an aloof 30-something woman who works reluctantly as an elementary school teacher, notices the unmistakable bruises on her first grade pupil Rena (Mana Ashida). Initially, like everyone else, Nao looks the other way.

But Rena’s wretched desperation soon awakens a passion and determination in Nao. Together they skip town and embark on a risky journey pretending to be mother and child. “Mother” is the story of the transformation of a once-disenchanted woman who suddenly takes on the role of a parent to a child who is starved for maternal love. The drama probes into the meaning of motherhood in modern society.

this SPRING season, i should give a big trophy to MOTHER.
[1] i love matsuyuki yasuko so much. if only tsutsumi shinichi appeared here as a special guest...

[2] i really really love ashida mana [the daughter of matsu takako in CONFESSION movie].. this is her lead debut in drama after debut in Confession movie. this kid is amazing talented. carrying such a heavy character with different colors and moods. she's a brilliant ... spontaneous and never limits herself with the script. i could see some lines and expression which i believe her improvised. sasuga matsu's daughter!

the challenging part ... when she brought scenes of being abused, before and after.. and the consequence behavior. her colorful behavior and thinking described enough of her character. you can't guess what she'll say or do... and that's the interesting way to learn more and more and more about her.

[3] the return of my favorite tanaka yuko! who will forget this OSHIN. she never fails here. and never bored me. she's exactly resembles my beloved late grand-auntie. certainly me and mom used to cry everytime we watched tanaka yuko.

[4] the scriptwriter sakamoto yuji .. beautiful words. until now, i can't expect the next lines .. and couldn't really guess what will happen next. it's relaxing. you'll find several surprises. with a nice momentum and the flow - not so fast, not too slow. at certain moments, i didn't expect that i would be flooded with tears. it's ok not to cry .. but if somebody watching this without feeling or thinking anything, i'm sure that person considered heartless.

very well-developed plot .. this main story slowly moving into several sub-plots which covered many issues that related to motherhood topic. i just watched Ep 4, and i'm looking forward for more. oh, what a great opening in Ep 1... that's what made me kept on watching the two whole episodes non-stop in a row at cyber cafe :P

i've known sakamoto yuji for comedy and humor works [Saiyuuki, RyokitekiNa, TopCaster, TokyoLoveStory etc]. sakamoto yuji awarded for the best writer of kanno miho's OUR TEXTBOOK drama. emm, but my personal view, MOTHER is his best work at this moment. oh wait, i haven't watch Anata no Tonari ni Dareka Iru drama [B'z did all the theme songs for this drama!].

the soft voice of yasuko and the cheerful voice of little mana is such contradiction but melodious to my ear. time to time, i could feel their growing relationship and even their tiny miny detailed expressions would touched and carried me away. ashida mana's memorable cute laugh already became her trademark now ~ ah, i can't sleep. this make me wanna watch NHK The 8th Day Chicada drama [if i could find it with sub].. but i've got a feeling that the plot of MOTHER is more appealling than CHICADA. maybe.

[5] yamamoto koji as the reporter who investigate the case and kept on following the runaway mother-daughter. for earlier episodes, i saw koji as the usual koji we used to know. the handsome and flirtatious face. i wanna see his other side.

at last, at the end of Ep 4 - with his gentle expression, unexpected line came out from him. yosh, i can't wait for upcoming episodes! i hope sakamoto yuji would succeed to develop yamamoto koji's character.

[6] the director is mizuta nobuo.. when i watch the opening of ep 1.. i kept asking who direct this drama... yappari, no wonder MOTHER is soooo movie-mode! ^^

the director is a film director. this is his debut in directing drama. .... oh, wait .. his debut was in yutaka takenouchi's Psycho Doctor drama. hehe, he's a director of Maiko Haan!! and No More Cry!!! movies.

another director is naganuma makoto - i'm not familiar with his works. oh wait, he's one of directors of miyazawa rie's Ichiban Taitsetsu drama and nakama yukie's Kao drama.

[7] music ... i can't let off the theme song. Nakigao Smile by Hinaco [rythm zone]. i just love it so much. beautiful sad + happy + mixed feeling melody. really wanna know the meaning of the song. you could easily find fanvideos of this drama online :)

i'm waiting the english sub for for Ep 5 and 6 now ... seems suddenly rating for Ep 6 increased from 11.9 to 13.9%. this is NTV's production. i don't think it will get a high rating, beating other glossy doramas. but overall ratings still good, so far.

i wish ashida mana will act with matsu again. as her daughter ... together with kimura. it'll be a miracle if suddenly LOVEGENE sequel come up. oh, btw.. from now on... i will refer ashida mana as matsu's daughter. i'll pray that she'll be a great actress in future .. like his 'first mother' matsu takako. although i love her 'second mother' matsuyuki yasuko too.

she's so small and cute... with such heavy and challenged roleplay on her own.. i've to say, she's on top of the list now .. high above from the other child actors/actresses. this small young kid is really something, ya'know!

i just finish Ep5 and 6 without sub. ~ dramatic scenes.
uwaa, stress ~ i want more...and more...and more!!!

END of EP5: actually from episode trailer, i already knew the real mother will found the girl. But.. as i said before, over and over... ashida mana's acting is powerful amazing! exactly when she voiced out, "Mama" ... i was shivering. her one word gave me such goosebumps. oh my ~ i was weak, half-fainted. just in a blink of an eye, her face turned into horrible traumatic expression. i could feel hers. she was deeply frightening. iyadaa~ doushiyou?!! if only i could hide her under my bed. poor child.

EP6: dramatic episode. i can see that the character of yasuko's younger sister started developing here. yamamoto koji such a jerk.. with his gentle face, i still can't get why he's trying to manipulate everyone. what his motive anyway? money? scoop? being fun playing with people's feelings? i'm indeed madly-cursed on him.. [anyhow i still can't resist this playboy... lol] ........ and the real mother. uwargh, i feel like i wanna kick her into the sea. not worth to be 'mama'. hikhik, why i'm feel tensed here.. anyway, this is one of the best drama that i will treasured.

the magic of my B'z and SMAP when everything is fit and tightly in-sync.
inaba's lyric really conveyed my feeling... those are my message to SMAP members and Ladies. meanwhile tak's magic guitar fit well with the choreography. even the dance steps... delivered inaba's lyric perfectly.

it's magic.. and miracle to me! - as i did this on 1.4.2010 for time capsule 10.4.2010. and suddenly kimura talked about omatsu 2 times in between of that time capsule period. sasuga kimura... he listened to my whisper! :)

for "Time Flies", i translated the kanji myself with translator. then check-confirm with the one done by ARTHURO. so, probably my interpret might be different. while the very small part of "Calling" and "One" songs... i referred to KEEN. thnx SO MUCH to those B'z fansubbers. they're such a great B'z encyclopedia. their site links were in my tresure Jbox blog.

i did this fanvideo.. just because my own celebration of B'Z and SMAP anniversary of 22nd Year.. since 1988 to 2010. showing how much important of those groups to me. even though i didn't talk much about them in my blogs... they're so important. it's not easy to do something that could satisfy both fans of rockband and boyband, ne. but i do hope this will make people respect to each other. music is a miracle to me. thnx God, i could hear ... because of music! :)

probably because kimura mentioned again matsu's name and their kiss scene in his radio show. hehe.

it's already how many years... now going to be 14 years. he still talk about her.

because of that, i finished watching HERO (2001) and LoveGene (1997) drama series - both straightly in one full day. already watched it for hundred times.. never get bored.

i'm in da middle of urgent research writing works.
something wrong with the chatbox, so i just delete it.
because of that..
i couldn't contact that person who asked for the soundtrack.

recently, for few weeks
my migraine attack keep coming ON and OFF. i try my best taking a good care of myself. i already lost appetite for outside meals, so i start again doing home cooking. my own recipes. coz i'm lazy to read other people's recipe books. just use my imagination and whatever i have in my kitchen with limited, short time. i seldom taste my food while cooking. so, when everything done, sitting with a spoon or chopsticks... lol, really nervous to take a first bite. this kind of doki doki feeling makes me a lil'bit high tension, exciting and feeling genki. OISHII~ UMAI! kinda shocked i could prepared such luxury food with cheap ingredients.
yosh, i can open my own bistro cafe tomorrow!

demo ano, emm.. rather than putting this as hobby, i prefer to say that this is a part of my survival. i always tend forgetting to eat when i start concentrating on something. last night, i just realized i didn't take any meal for almost 48 hours. quickly, i rushed to the kitchen with a dizzy head and weak body.. opened the cabinet
- "oh my... no rice?! finish?! already?! hee?!
ah, 7-Eleven convenience store.. i'm starving.. how to.. heee, drive?! iyadaa~. hold on. focus focus.. i need carbohydrate..or else i'll be dehydrate." while my brain kept stimulating weakly... i prepared the soup. with whatever things that i could call INGREDIENT.

~ atta, yo! a pack of rice vermicelli. good enough. i need RICE. bihun pun bihun lah, janji beras! i wonder which was the best.. my rice vermicelli or japanese ramen. .. emm, won't care. i was hungry. oh, btw most my meals nowadays are combination of western and oriental improvised on my own .

my dinner.. it's time now. jikan desu yo.

inagaki goro would be the lead cast in “Elephant @ ZOU” stageplay on 5.3.2010 till 30.3.2010.
the story is based on Betsuyaku Minoru’s early work [one of his best]. it’s about the hardships and the sufferings of those atomic bomb’s victims; which revolved around humanistic issues – their vulnerability and sacrifice.

somehow i like this kind of plot~ atomic bomb. i’m always curious and admire how that country could struggle and re-born after the big historical event. i wonder if it wasn’t happened, how my country would be now on the mark of Japanese administrative compared to British imperial system.

by the way, with the same theme of Atomic Bombing
[1]matsu takako did a special drama “Hiroshima Showa 20 nen 8 Gatsu Muika” – a first project of Nada Sou Sou song by natsukawa rimi.

Hiroshima Showa 20 nen 8 Gatsu Muika is a special year 2005 drama done by TBS channel as the first of Nada Sou Sou project. the story about three sisters and their youngest brother in a small town, Tenjin-cho [a demolished area somewhere around Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park]. matsu takako is a lead cast as the big sister. the drama is about their life story during end year WWII, before and during a-bombing tragedy.

the drama was broadcasting in august 2005 which got 28% high viewership rating from Hiroshima region [not including average rating from other regions]. it was re-run again in september 2006 with additional unpublished scenes. National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan (NAB) chose this drama as the winner of Best Television Program Award for year 2006. this drama directed by my favorite Fukuzawa Katsuo (the gentle 'giant' who directed Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai movie) - fukuzawa really good in making war movies.

besides matsu, other favorite casts here like kokubun taichi, tamayama tetsuji and nagasawa masami. nishida toshiyuki was the elderly who did the story-telling.

Yunagi no Machi, Sakura no Kuni [Yunagi city, Sakura country] is a live-action movie directed by Kiyoshi Sasabe based on Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms manga. the manga was wrote and illustrated by Fumiyo Kono in year 2003-2004 in Weekly Manga Action; which then received several grand prizes for manga awards and international recognition for its 'silent-human-anti war' message.
the story is split into two-related story, which focused on the first and second generations of survivor. also about long-term effects of radiation poisoning and the illness suffered by most survivors. in Hiroshima, people do take care whatever all the left standing atomic bombed trees because it's been said that Hiroshima - the city where no plants could be grown for 75 years. here, kumiko aso as the main cast for first story [first generation] and rena tanaka as the main lead for the second story [second generation]. for this movie, kumiko aso received several awards.

since matsu and rena were involving the same theme which is hiroshima a-bomb, i did a short fan video "Roots of Love" from those above drama and movie using B'z song, few years ago.

last year 2008, i heard about nanako matsushima's new project as a narrator for charity movie, GATE ~ A True Story which also known as "Atomic Flame"; produced by Global Nuclear Disarmament Fund [an alliance of five NGOs that gathered during the 2005 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference at the United Nations in New York City].

the story is about a documentary of true story of Buddhist Monks walked endlessly between Hiroshima and Nagasaki which had been done for few decades - believed that their selfless sacrifice and prayers for peace will make Nagasaki the last city in the world ever to know the horrors of Nuclear War. one day, the monks walk was being participated by native Americans, Veterans, and peace groups of all faiths for their final 1600 mile journey across deserts, over mountain ranges and through more than 250 communities as they walked from San Francisco to the Trinity Test Site in New Mexico, location of the first Atomic Bomb detonation.

for japanese version, nanako matsushima did the narration. the theme song was done by a collaboration of yuna ito [america], composer yoshihiro ike [japan] and Russian National Orchestra led by legendary conductor mikhail pletnev [russia]. my favorite actor martin sheen also featured in this documentary movie. this movie still not released yet .. however we could still watch the short footage of the movie on net.

while i'm writing this post entry, i do searching and digging to gain some knowledge, even though i knew what our history book wrote. i watched videos [japanese movies and international documentaries].
i read the compilation of essays made by the atomic bomb survivors and victims.
i look through all photos and the drawings made by them with the explanation.
seriously, i cannot take it anymore. and i couldn't write well here.
it's really painful. ~ hontou ni hontou...

duu~ i'm not feeling well now. totally sick - almost going to vomit.
the real situation that happened to those civilians were something out of my mind.
i guess those americans who did the dropping at that Day, already
speechless scared with what they saw - the real effect live in front of their eyes.

i wonder if i could find Yunagi Sakura in english sub here. anyway, after watched Hiroshima tanpatsu... i like Hiroshima presentation in term of visual, sounds, script and acting. i lost my breath for certain time watching masami (third sister) and her friend being chased by komoto [the japanese army @ clothing factory instructor] - what a loooooong scene!

also the part when the young brother was beaten by superior during his brutal training, remind me of Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai movie (but here, the boy was so young compared to that nakai). matsu as usual did her best job. although kato ai is not my fav, but at least better her than aibu saki. kato ai was ok here. although at certain part she failed to show her ideology or strong intention to change the situation. [or else, what kind of good reason to put matsu sitting outside the building under the heavy rain, apologized and asking bravely from the higher-ranking military officer to release her sister].

the chemistry of kato-tamayama just ok. not strong though. same thing between matsu and kokubun. their chemistry quite weak, but still ok because i didn't concern it much. but still when matsu was alone... i could feel her longing to her boyfriend. especially when she started humming 'Over The Rainbow' song.. and on that hill towards the sea-view, when she started singing the song [yes, it's not the first time matsu sang in english ne]... from the sound, without seeing her face, i could feel she's mustering up her strength, singing while holding back her tears.

the young brother such a gentle person ne. both satoshi tamiura (during his teens) and toshiyuki nishida (during his elderly) did superb job here. i could feel their tenderness to people, pets and plants from their voice. although it might sounds childish, the character of young brother was strongly touching. i could feel their cheerfulness (outside appearance) and sadness (deep inside). the best scene of tamiura was a family farewell at train station meanwhile nishida did a great closing at ending scene.

here's a bits and pieces about Ore wa Kimi no Tameni Koso, Shini ni Iku [I Decided to Die For You] or well known as "For Those We Love" movie.
- B'z was responsible for the theme song "Eien no Tsubasa" and image song "The Wings" [as usual matsumoto tak did the composing and inaba koshi did the lyric].
- the movie was about the true story of young kamikaze pilots of Chiran Air Base that had been told by Tome Torihama, a woman who ran a restaurant at Chiran town where those pilots were her frequent customers.

i knew the movie because of B'z and yosuke kubozuka, michitaka tsutsui, mikako tabe were among the casts. after watched the movie, i started reading a great compilation facts done by Bill Gordon. emm~ somehow... Gordon's explanation of those kamikaze's images from japanese point view is exactly same like what i think. my strong perception.

for Ore Wa Kimi movie, i guess the character of restaurant owner [Tome Torihama] was the most memorable for me. that woman was like a mother to those young pilots. the role play was held by a veteran actress Kishi Keiko. i was glad to know she rejected the script several times because she thought the screenplay glorified the war too much. if not because of her, i guess this movie wouldn't be softened as it would be now. regarding those individual stories of pilot ~ i received the message. but the scene of admiral's ritual suicide was not exactly an answer for us. being tokyo governor at that time, i guess Ishihara (movie writer) was avoiding few matters that related to 'who gonna take the responsibility for those thousands victims and young pilot's death'. ..... anyway, at least.. Kishi Keiko really save this movie. and for real thing, we could see the scene of kamikaze pilot crashing their aircrafts into Allied warships, not just air or sea explosion.

right now... i'm thinking to buy an independent documentary 2007 movie of Wings of Defeat - a rare interview of surviving kamikaze pilots [at the age of 80s] - sharing their true stories and personal opinions. there's another journey where two survivors of USS Drexler destroyer meeting with a survivor of kamikaze pilot. .... Wings of Defeat done by filmmakers - Risa Morimoto and Linda Hoaglund. oh, remember the Bill Gordon i mentioned above. i just realized that he was the consultant for this documentary movie.

i must say Wings of Defeat is much much better and worth to watch .. seeking the truth by highlighting views from both sides. maa ~ shopping online thru paypal is a bit hassle for me. could someone just send it to the store shelf.

W-AB movies [part 1]

my own movie term [W-AB] stands for war-or-atomic bombing theme. any kind of war action movies supposedly not my favorite genre. i dunno why. maybe because i always being skeptical about this.. well you know, certain directors/writers always proudly making themselves superhero and looked down on other opponents
[same thing how i hate certain movie makers being biased by putting my people as terrorist].

~ eh, hello.. remember words from West Wing second season series? .: terrorism actually exists in any religions, races and countries :: so please never ever make some kind of super-low-minded accuses.

in my home country, i watched "SARJAN HASSAN", a 1958 black-and-white movie [one year released after our independence] which set in Singapore-Malaya during Japanese-British war period which considered our local-made recognized patriotic movie. it was not fully completed under the late Lamberto Avellana [a famous Filipino movie and stage director]. so the rest of task was took over by late P. Ramlee. the screenplay was wrote by Ralph Modder and P.Ramlee. Ralph Modder a veteran journalist, novelist and screen writer who was born in malaysia and grew up in singapore.

the one and only malay war movie that i respect most is "BUKIT KEPONG". [repeat: the ONE and ONLY in my ever life!]. Bukit Kepong was a 1981 movie which based on a true-story that happened at bukit kepong, muar, johore [muar johore is my parents' hometown anyway]. the setting time was during year 1950 [exactly the same year of my both parents were born]. after Japanese invasion broke down [the withdrawal of WWII because of hiroshima-nagasaki bombing incident], British took over Malaya again.. but then the Malayan Communists Party started their guerrilla attacks to force British out of Malaya. however, those bandits also robbing, assaulting and killing civilians. it's 'black days - malayan emergency' for us. i remember my late grandpa's words... "it's still okay with British or Japanese.. but Communist.. that's the most scariest period in my life". ... in someway, thanx God, both my parents were born and grew up safely :)

The story based on the true, tragic incident that happened surrounding a small police station, located on isolated countryside river banks area on 23 february 1950. not just isolated, but also lack of facilities and equipment - shortage of guns, mortar or explosive supply, old wooden buildings, no electricity and telecommunication system, the only transportation was a small river boat etc. [sigh] yeah, our 50s era wasn't really something and rural area still less developed. during the bloody incident on that day, a fierce attack came from 200 communists towards 25 local policemen (can you imagine 200 vs 25!) and their family members. almost all the polices were killed including police chief Sergeant Jamil and several women and children were executed or burned to death. the police station, the barracks and married quarters were all ablaze.

although with all the well-planned strategy by the communists, it was still not an easy battle for them, as it took five hours to break in. the communists also were shocked with a sudden alarm from the tenacity side - when the two police wives fired the guns and continued fighting bravely after their husbands were shot dead. with all the pressure and threats, the defenders were refused to surrender and fought to the last man. ..... at the same time, reinforcement groups from nearby villagers came but failed to give their aid. they were halfway stopped after being ambushed by the communists; just about 500 meters from the police station. numbers of villager guards were shot down - wounded or killed. ..... the battle of Bukit Kepong was starting before dawn around 4.15 am, but with the help of survived villagers (from the ambush at Muar river banks), the news was received by another nearby station only at 10 am.

Bukit Kepong - the one and only movie that affected my emotions for certain time. i watched this when i was still kid. and it's haunted me. i totally lost appetite and lack of sleep because of those imaginary of fire blazes, explosions, the screaming and the crying from the children that kept remaining in my mind. ..... despite to the limitation of film technology, this movie was succeed in delivering the message of tragedy because of the strong, powerful and honest acting from all the casts and extras... especially those pure, innocent small kids who knew nothing about what is star, popularity or glamor.

the famous shout by the late chief Sergeant Jamil to the opponent - "We, the policemen, would never ever surrender. Let us die here. Bukit Kepong (Kepong Hill) would be our burial ground." ... ironically, 'kepong' is the old version of malay word, means 'surrounded'. who would thought that time, the surrounded hill would be surrounded by enemy on one fine dawn.

from the interview of NST with the director tan sri jins shamsuddin [who was holding the role play as Serg. Jamil], the movie was the most expensive malay film at that time (1980) which cost around RM1.3 million. and it took about four months filming and involving hundreds of people at the set. the director was assured that everything in this movie was 98 percent accurate with the real case. it was 1980s, deshou. they were only using three cameras and no CG or whatever kinds of special advanced effects used. probably, it was not dramatic like other international action movies. but at least it was made in pure-natural-frank-and-humble way. nevertheless, up to now.. there are no local stuff that could beat this. yappari, with all the modernization after 51th years of independence, our movie industry nowadays ne, time to time smoothly goes... backward! one of our high level key performance index achievement, i must say.

my notes on Bukit Kepong clips:
i realized there were some small parts in those clips above were edited [not uploader's fault i guess]. the clips were a bit dark visual. long ago, i watch the original play on tv screen.. it was a clear visual [and the duration also a bit longer] which was why i remember every details of expression vividly. that's the beginning of my childhood nightmare. certain details perhaps being done with some morale-political consideration and sensitivity - we're multi-religion-cultural-ethnic people after all. if they showed how a small kid being executed, i guess my nightmare would be worst. at this moment, i try to understand few things that i never thought before. they were just a small group of policemen, right. unlike the soldiers [royal regiment battalion], their movement and sources were limited. soldiers could move around themselves - attack, defend or hide in the jungle. but policemen need to defend their station. the weight of responsibilities they had to carry - villagers (around), friends (at the front) and families (at the back). they had to protect all of them at the same time. not even chance they could get out from that place (sending news and asking aid), not even one inch that those villager guards could move forward for a support. what a serious battle of this 200:25. since 16th century, johore considered one of the modern states [in our definition]. so imagine what kinds of other undeveloped states of Malaya would be like during that time. i guess i could understand why my late grandpa [mother 's side] was so scared. he's got a comfortable job as a high-rank school educator during British time and warehouse clerk during Nippon time... [i have no intention to brag] but frankly, my late grandpa was well-known among local veterans as a smart, good personality, trustworthy person - admired by both British and Japanese administrators.] i always know he helped people around even during his difficult life-time. but what if a bunch of malay-chinese communists couldn't hold their grudge and find him for revenge for being 'traitor'. during this time, i wonder how he did protect his pregnant wife (grandma + unborn mom), his chinese adopted chibi (small) sister, his parents and family in-laws. huuu, kowaii na ~ scary! demo, on the other hands... talking bits n pieces about life of my important persons would be a good reflection for myself. it's hard to be perfect, but whatever time left, whatever pain .. i'll do my best to survive in my own battle ... ~ emm, may i cry now [smiling].

as far as i remember.....

the first and the earliest war movie i've ever watch was "TORA! TORA! TORA!". i can't remember how old i was that time, probably too young to understand the definition of war. i couldn't remember much what was the story about... all i know, it's about pilots. and the title was so catchy, which easily stick to my brain's memory. frankly, in that young age... even i didn't really understand the content of story - what, when, where, why, how.... i was already stunned with the visual of combat scenes...aa, those pilots and their japanese aircraft! i wish i could sit and watch it again. emm, i'll find it.

when i checked back, Tora! Tora! Tora! is 1970 american-japanese movie. wow, a big collaboration of american and japanese. for real?! directed by 3 persons [1 american, 2 japanese] and the credit of writings go to the 6 persons [3 american and 3 japanese]. in short, this movie is about chains of historical events that related to Pearl Harbor attack.

about pearl harbor..i'm not sure if i should define it as smart or lucky.. there were about six signs before the attack - those were ignored or denied by american higher-ups.. six signs and they're not even prepared. although the intelligence already gave their warns and estimations.

"I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." - said Admiral Yamamoto after their success.

that was the beginning of WW II. and the ending happened when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed with the small boy and the fat boy [nuclears]. Pearl Harbor was the main American base in the Pacific region which located at Oahu, Hawaii island. meanwhile Hiroshima was a modern city of industrial and military significance; and Nagasaki was one of the largest, important sea ports in southern japan which still had surroundings of old-fashion town/villages. ~ emm, what a revenge.

"If they do not now accept our terms, they may expect a rain of ruin from the air the likes of which has never been seen on this earth." - said President Harry S.Truman after Hiroshima atomic bombing.

emm, honestly... i couldn't remember much american war movies. perhaps, the one i could recall is only "SAVING PRIVATE RYAN" ... and that's because my favorite tom hanks was the lead cast. this 1998 movie was about a loose true story of Niland brothers - a siblings of four american soldiers. three of them were killed in the WWII but the youngest one heard that still survived. operation was given to find him. this movie was about Normandy, France invasion which later the setting went to the fictional town of Ramelle where Ryan (fictional character) believed to located. [but in real-life, that Niland brother was actually imprisoned in Japanese POW camp, Burma].

.... Burma. emm~ i'm familiar with this. long time ago, so many my country men were captured by Japanese Army and were sent to Burma camp....forced to work as labor of railway's construction with little machinery. it's well known as Burma Death Railway. from wiki, i found out that the total of laborers were about 200,000 [local Asian people] and 60,000 [Allied POWs]. due to horrible working and living condition, hundreds thousands were died.

last year, i watched another american-japanese production, "LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA" with my father. at first i was in doubt, especially knowing that this 2006 movie was directed and co-produced by Clint Eastwood. i was afraid if i was going to hate it [after watching Memoirs of Geisha and later Dragonball Evolution, i totally have no faith for american to produce any japanese stuff).

but i gave my try since ken watanabe, ninomiya kazunari and so many other casts were my favorite. the setting was during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima is a sulfur island [an island of volcano chains which located at south of mainland Tokyo]. the battle also setting in WWII. the defeat of Japanese was predicted from the beginning - especially without backup from the mainland, big numbers of opponent, shortage of food-water supply and sickness. despite to that, even knowing they would lost and died.. those Japanese soldiers were fighting fiercely for 35 days - trying their best to defense and delayed the opponent as long as possible to invade the island.

i really admired that this movie was well-made. clint eastwood was very dedicated in describing the movie from Japanese Army point view. at least eastwood being fair and square by presented both Letters from Iwo Jima [japanese version] and Flags of Our Father [american version] on the same war event. Letters from Iwo Jima was based on true story - from two non-fiction books which are [1] "Picture Letters from the Commander in Chief" wrote by General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (the high general who involved in the battle, acted by ken watanabe in the movie) and [2] "So Sad to Fall In Battle: An Account of War" wrote by Kumiko Kakehashi.

as the title suggested, japanese archeologists found bunch of letters that never sent out, wrote by japanese soldiers buried underground tunnels on Iwo Jima in 1945. from wiki, i found out that other alternative title for this movie was "Lamps Before the Wind", which taken from words in Kuribayashi's letter to his son: "The life of your father is just like a lamp before the wind."

somehow, i'm guessing that General Kuribayashi portrayed by ken watanabe in the movie was a gentle person, father-figured and respected leader in real life. Kuribayashi once studied in Harvard University. he traveled across america to learn about the industrial and military research. not only genius, he's also talented in writing. this historical person now already well-known among outsiders after the movie worldwide released.

what's the similar thing between Kuribayashi of Iwo Jima and Jamil of Bukit Kepong?
both were writing letters to their wife and family.

eguchi yosuke once said he's looking forward to Season 6.
hikhik, eguchi-san... even up to season 10, i'll be waiting.

last week, i was watching season 4 again with my mom. she was so happy and we kept on watching non-stop, finishing the whole drama in one day. hehe, she is a loyal fan of this series, anyway. moreover it's simply bring back memories of her medical career period.

last year, FujiTV did some small exhibition and display as promotion.
to see those posters... natsukashii, isn't it. ^^

for 2009, thanx for early special 4 episodes.. a reunion of nanako with yashima norito, sudo risa, miyasako hiroyuki and inoue mao. i still wish there would be a reunion of nanako/eguchi with matsuyuki yasuko [that female doctor in season 2].. miss her so much!

kyumei byoto 24 ji [24 hours emergency room] is a special and unique drama to me. there's no medical drama could beat this series in term of longevity and rating. seems that FujiTV never re-broadcast or re-run the series. instead, FujiTV used SP [special tanpatsu] to flashback certain episodes, characters or theme from all seasons; in addition of short un-aired or new scenes.

put aside, Shiroi Kyoto (White Tower) drama by karasawa and eguchi .. because it's a special FujiTV anniversary; re-making project of 1978's drama. put aside Team Batista or Gyne.. because kyumei byoto employed so many specialists which i enjoy various kind of cases and skills, without exaggeration. moreover, up to now.. kyumei byoto still consistent as tv series - not desperately transformed into movie franchise. put aside Jin or Blackjack ni Yoroshiku.. because kyumei byoto not based on manga or novel. put aside Code Blue.. because to me, kyumei byoto series are more logic and realistic. they're pushing efforts towards awareness on medical crisis issues, raising sense of urgency towards policy-maker, and public-educating.

Shindo sensei and Kojima sensei - the two leads already become the icons. kojima sensei was absent in Season 2, [nanako matsushima was just married in feb 2001]. there were two tanpatsu in Season 4. first one were divided into 4 episodes [in the beginning of 2009 season, during eguchi was being hospitalized after motorbike accident] and the second one was in january 2010.

another icon for this series, Dream Comes True who still rules with all those four seasons theme songs. ... anyway, with good lyrics and melody, i believe those theme songs were part of reason why DCT got high points in NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen :)

Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji Season 3. but it was broadcasting in year 2005. Season Three is about a medical rescue during earthquake tragedy. based on research which assumed in future, Japan might get more than high 7-scales great earthquake [again].

so this season was a part of pre-caution program.. and a part of education to public, govt and all emergency rescue teams on how it would looks like... and what should they do in that kind of situation.

no electricity, no water, no food, no communication, no transportation, lack of medical sources, the numbers of patients and death increasing time to time, fires spreading everywhere, buildings and skyscrapers collapsed, psychological and emotional trauma.

it's also referred to Japan's past experience which same happened at Osaka-Kobe in year 1995.

i guess during that period, there's no drama trying to highlight this issue except Kyumei Byoto drama.

probably, some outsiders [ non-japanese viewers] might commented about "non-logical" scenes here...about the shortages of staff.

honestly, if you think again... it's a real thing that japan's medical system and other countries facing nowadays [not many ordinary people like us realized during that time - if not mistaken, the official japanese medical research papers and surveys done by institutional were widely started exposed around year 2005-2006, i think].

season 3 is just the beginning ~ showing the early sign of medical staff shortage and long-non-stop-working staff [the real crisis in japan now].. but this shortage issue didn't received much focus in Season 3.

because Mr Director pushed it to the next season's theme which Season Four 2009-2010.

On 6.4.2009, FujiTV station broadcasted a 3.5 hours special show as celebration of 50th anniversary - "SMAP Presents Drama in Drama". the show was presenting a collection of dramas along this 50 years - including VTR, footage and re-act; describing interesting, sad and funny facts behind those dramas and the making. SMAP was handling the show at the beginning (and later as participant - together with other guests).

those guests specially invited were the veterans and line of A-list stars - Jinnai Takanori, Asano Yuko, Asano Atsuko, Yanagiba Toshiro, Ishida Junichi, Karasawa Toshiaki, Sorimachi Takashi, Takenouchi Yutaka, Ito Misaki, Yusuke Santamaria, Oda Yuji, Yosuke Eguchi.. the only young actors were Mizushima Hiro and Ichihara Hayato. Other guests who came later were Matsu Takako, Nanako Matsushima, Fukatsu Eri, Takeuchi Yuko, Shibasaki Kao. not like other directors, our famous Mitani Koki got special treat - sitting among the guest stars. another special guests from Kita no Kunikara drama [Nakajima Tomoko, Tanaka Kunie and Mr Director].

after i watched Kisaragi movie for 3 times.. i'm already little bit 'obsessed' with it?! but really, i like it!! a brilliant funny movie. starting with several awkward moments, slowly it became interesting. suddenly, the flow kept changing unexpectedly which turned myself sitting straightly and paid attention to every details till the end. i really adore how they idolized kisaragi miki (the D-list idol who cannot sing and act) heart fully without doubt. all of them are really cute especially oguri shun and koide keisuke! and yusuke santamaria's character as oda yuji.. hikhikhik [yusuke and oda were acting together in bayside shakedown series].

this is totally about fandom, which blends the comedy + classic mystery genres into a masterpiece that we can enjoy smoothly. the script was great - the characters' roles were well-balanced with the idea of using one room as the setting with just five people. to have all the casts wearing black suits [for the memorial service] make them more stylish and emphasize that Kisaragi was not a typical movie.

talking about fandom...

recalled back how smap idolized michael jackson since they were kids. when they were still newly-formed as smap, they talked about this in magazines and interviews. they even did MJ skits (Oshinobi Michael) in their old concerts and smasma variety show. the young smap were so happy watching MJ's performance at Tokyo Dome and they said one day, they would do their performance there too. totally inspired by him.

times passed by... smap become a high brand name and they already created their own history. one fine day, in year 2006, MJ did a special surprise by coming to the studio where smap were in the middle of rehearsal for smasma music performance. we already saw how they almost lost their mind, totally speechless to see their idol. i can say that it was totally a lifetime meeting! they didn't realized that MJ was quietly watching their performance. seems that he was really enjoying it. MJ was very impressed with the background setting which using a new technology of LED screen. after that, those passionate fans started introducing themselves. goro did impersonation and it was well-received by MJ. they got the shake-hands and autograph signatures. already SATISFIED? :)

in october 2009, nakai-kun went to los angeles for MJ's This Is It movie world premiere red carpet event as the sole representative of Japan. end of last year 2009, in the 60th Kouhaku Uta Gassen (annual end-year music show produced by NHK channel which a battle between Red female team and White male team). smap did a special stage performance as a tribute to the late MJ.

i'm holding my tears watching the tribute.. yokatta ne. it's like a magic dream for them to perform something like this. they idolized MJ since kids. kimura did a good job [almost perfect] for Billy Jean and the moonwalker. nanka, his hat reminds me of his hat when he did Hero 2007 promo with matsu. i was laughing hard when i heard the intro of Thriller. kyaa~ nakai's kisu song! i sooo can imagine nakai going to gabu gabu with nakama... mwahaha. if he turn on this song, what kind of expression that nakama would give? Thriller done by shingo and tsuyoshi.. i was screaming inside, "rena! did you see your best friend and boy friend just now?" .. followed by Bad music.. hora, goro-chan is coming! to tell you the truth, i'm smap ichiban.. but when it comes to music performance, it's my BIG pleasure to watch goro dancing and nakai singing. goro is suitable for Bad dance. same like his skit, isn't it. he's not alone there.. kimura was with him.. doing the fight dance. hehehe, kimura-goro = matsu-miho = sakanoue NHK drama. zannen, abe was coming alone as the representative of the drama. but i'm almost sure matsu's family watched Kouhaku at home. miho is a big fan of kasuga (audrey).. she must already watched this too. nakai who is well-known as the best dancer among the members did Smooth Criminal part... demo, i felt it was short.. uwaa~ not enuff. i want more. more and more chocolate chipsmore. frankly, last year of Kouhaku was really fun. thanx to the chemistry of NakaNaka, our masters of ceremony... Tanoshi.. so much fun. i would treasure it for sure!

i'm MJ big fan too. still remember my late younger brother used to learn his dance. and we always sang songs while driving. emm, i do understand how smap feel.. coz they're same like us. here is the video clip of smap special tribute on that Kouhaku night. hope you'll enjoy it as much as i did.

soon, autumn season going to end. around 1-2 more episodes.
dakara, i'm really looking forward to see the ending of these dramas. i don't care about rating though.
coz i know J-viewers still watching.. either live on tv screen or downloaded videos like we did here.

FUMO CHITAI

one word: amazing!! true, it's a heavy drama .. but it's amazing. i kept recalling the world and business-economic history. world politic stability and trade business really correlated to each other, ne. same goes with the war, recession, inflation, globalization, open market etc. while watching those two trading companies busily with their 'buy-buy-sell-sell' activity, my mind just thinking about my late grandpa who was appointed by Japanese to manage and take care of the main warehouse in Malacca during WWWII. emm, yeah. i realized how important crops, sugar, rice, raw materials at that time. i kept imagined how he smuggled those out and passed it around to the villagers while at the same time, cover up and kept a good rapport with his employer [Japanese Army].

i fast-forwarded episode 1. paid attention to the introduction of iki-beniko-hyodo characters. then jumped to episode 5. back to episode 2 and kept on watching up to episode 9 now. i watched raw clips. and i re-watched again with english sub. i hope DVD for part 1 will be available soon. i love the retro setting. staff did a great job for that. all the casts gave a great performance. previously, there was a suggestion that if Iki Tadashi played by yosuke eguchi, the drama's rating might be increased. but to me, either karasawa or eguchi.. it doesn't matter about the expression and emotion as both are the great actors. but in term of physical suitability, i'll say karasawa is fit as Iki. reason why? since 1988, karasawa was starting his fame in trendy dramas and always got a rich-smart-good-looking-guy roles during his early career. i dunno about other people. but for me, i'm well-understand with Iki. i just hope the ending won't be so brutal, or else i'll be sad.

i've watched takeno in suit in many dramas previously. but still, he could bring his different way of acting as Hyodo Shinichiro. kakkoii.. love seeing him in angry and hardworking mode. on the other hands, don't you agree that amami is really beautiful and sometimes funny as Hamanaka Beniko. before the drama on-aired, i already know beniko's interest with iki and i thought 'oh, so beniko won't meet hyodo anytime anywhere, ne'... but after i watched the news and preview, i'm happy to see beniko was actually close with hyodo too [in whatever kind of relationship]. hehe, so whenever hyodo-beniko sharing a same scene... i was delighted! and whenever amami trying to get iki's attention, i felt sorry for her.. "poor beniko, iki already full with mrs. iki [wakui emi] and chisato [koyuki] ... why don't you just pour your heart to hyodo instead... go beniko go!" .. tsk, tsk.

there're so many interesting scenes... one of them is beniko and elevator scene - sadly beautiful .. painful. it's really beautiful, i felt like watching art movie .. not a drama. it's not unusual to see amami singing... but playing the piano, hajimete i think. amami could just let extra did it.. but she chose to do the piano scene herself. but no worry. amami is a quick-learner anyway. oh, another thing, that onna the typist in that red dress who made a cameo.. she resembles like yamaguchi tomoko [karasawa's real wife] .. eh, is that my only hallucination?

btw, i love iki's daughter [tabe mikako] especially the part when she talked about her marriage and asking his father to piggyback her. what a nice-melancholic scene. and in this drama, she's so cute. also the baby [iki's grandchild]. iki's son-in-law [ishida takuya] is a son of his enemy.. but i'm glad iki still approved and gave his bless for the marriage. beautiful black and white photos. maa, i want it too.

ishida takuya also acted in Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji Season 4 [nanako and eguchi] last time. and i just realized that the young boy in Semishigure movie [somegoro] was him. ishida and tabe already met before in a movie Yoru no Picnic. i should try to find that movie. coz in a short moment, i love this ishida-tabe combi. i'll talk more about ishida later. somehow he looks promising with his talent.

JIN

someway... emm, i don't have any comment for this drama. haha. because i love the script. i love the manga. i love their acting. i love osawa takao and nakatani miki. 'no love-no hate' with ayase haruka. but i'm glad ayase did a good job here. also uchiino masaaki as ryoma.

so far, i love ichikawa somegoro, eguchi yosuke and uchiino as the historical person; Ryoma. i've to wait and see how fukuyama masaharu going to suit with his Ryoma den drama next year. too bad, we can't get opportunity to see kimura as NHK preferred fukuyama rather than kimura. demo ne, can kimura be the Ryoma-san? that would be another question. my answer: although kimura did a good job as oda nobunaga, i've my faith with shingo or nakai more; to be ryoma. iyargh, talking about this.... when nakai-kun gonna be in jidaigeki taiga, i wonder.

back to JIN drama, i watched this drama in relaxing-mode without thinking too much.
my one and only wish:
please don't make the ending hang-in-the-middle.
or else i'll get frustrated and throw my laptop to the south-china sea at the back of my campus.

TOKYO DOGS

last time, i saw a glimpse of Jinno.. his mouth and the way of talking sounds familiar... eh, toru? he's toru deshou? and when i watched ep 9 ... yeayyyy, Nakamura Toru!!

nothing much to comment with the drama.. as it was a true police story.. so i dunno how to compare. just love it like the way it is. i was laughing, grinning, squealing, giggling.. sankyu for bringing the humor and cuteness and coolness.

i love the bickering between oguri and mizushima. next to oguri-toma's chemistry [in Hanazakari ni Kimi tachi e drama].. i love the chemistry between oguri-mizushima and toma-mizushima.

and yoshitaka yuriko is one of the great young actress. duu, how come she could give another different character and yet still wear that same lovey-dovey cute face. emm, if i still have my late younger brother, i would ask him to get me that-kind-of kawaii sister-in-law.

... now, tell me producers... when would i see my combi wish yoshitaka-osamu or yoshitaka-toma...

UNTOUCHABLE

i still enjoying the drama. just follow with the flow and not thinking much about that dark underground group. [i'm already heavy with Fumo Chitai.. so i prevented my brain to do so with other dramas]. i like nakama yukie's clumsiness and comical...with my favorite guest like asano yuko, nakamura shido etc. i love seeing nakama in black and white stripe, polka dots and checkered clothes .. those are 'smap uniform'!

my favorite episode so far was episode 5 .. when nakama started falling in love with shido. i was cracked when nakama said, 'next time, i can do cooking, cleaning, blablabla...'. aaargh, what a proposal! wish nakai was there. exactly type of girl he needs!

eh, wait... nakai-kun could religiously watching other people's dramas and shows... most probably, he did the same towards his girl. and i was laughing when nakama kept spraying her perfume to build her aura [in front of shido? lol]... mwahaha.. back then, kuryu-amamiya were using Nina Ricci Edition Prestige... ne, can somebody find out what brand did nakama using?

GYNE

i took a peek on first episode on this series... surprised.... i like it!. it's rare for me to watch any noriko fujiwara's drama... unless if there were my favorite actors/actresses in it. i don't hate her... it's just because in most of her works, people see her sexual appeal being exploited more than her true acting ability. probably Gyne drama considered her first drama after divorced and her big stress, right. congratulation! she should do this kind of challenging role much much much earlier. but, still not too late. i hope fujiwara will do more high-level dramas and movies in future.

the drama is about a Obstetrics and Gynecology department of a university hospital. fujiwara noriko as hiragi nachi; an obstetrician and surgeon for maternity ward who got some disordered and suffered from her own post-traumatic life.

my advice: please let husbands and boyfriends out there to watch this drama.. so guys would understand their moms and wives better.... and appreciate our sacrifice more.

LIAR GAME 2 and OHITORISAMA .. i'll just wait for DVD...

and for SAKA NO UE NO KUMO... i hope somebody could kindly sub and sharing it.. hukhuk, onegai~ onegaishimasu. i wanna see my miho-matsu, abe-motoki-kagawa ... oh, i'm also happy with the high ratings. yappari, during this rating's poor recession time... NHK channel still able to produce high-rating stuff... eg: Tenchijin drama [satoshi tsumabuki].

a famous author..
one of the greatest japanese writer in this century.
- based on one of his well known novels .. which described historical events happened in Japan and North-East Asia continent. he also did cultural writings about the link and relationship of Japan with the rest of the world.
- Saka no Ue no Kumo was wrote and published in year 1969. and it's taking 10 years for the novel to be completed.
- Basically the background story took the set of World War Zero: The Russo-Japanese War period.

Episode 5 - The Overseas Student

casts and relationships:

motoki masahiro, abe hiroshi, kanno miho, matsu takako, kagawa teruyuki etc.
if not mistaken, ken watanabe did the narration.

motoki and abe are brothers... miho and kagawa are brother-sister ...
they were born as poor village people. meanwhile, matsu is a lady from a rich family.
abe and matsu will ended up as husband and wife.
while motoki and miho ... we'll see if they gonna re-united again.
coz from what i understand, motoki's wife will be ishihara satomi.

i must say, matsu's English songs are amazing..
very fluent.
i can't believe it.
i mean, she was good with the slang and pronunciation.
and she even differentiate the music.. we could listen to her various styles of singing.

i really love her version of 'rainbow connection'
and 'long ago/half sixpence' sounds so Broadway.
while 'getting tall' is so soothing and mesmerize.
duu, listening to her voice, you can eventually imagine her in 'sounds of music' or any english musical.
i love 'i need u' too.. just pay attention to those lyrics.

and i'm glad no sahashi's name mentioned.. hehe.

my WATCH 2009 Autumn Drama:

i'm quite happy both JIN and Fumo Chitai did well for their first episode.
i dun expect high rating actually.. as fumo chitai is considered heavy story which is based on the famous novel. jin probably a bit fun as the drama is based on the famous manga.

and i'm so happy knowing J-viewers watched Fumo Chitai drama, mostly because they're fans of karasawa, fans of amami, fans of takeno... and fans of amami-takeno, haha.

ah, glad. certainly said those two will become the epic dramas. the best from TBS and FujiTV.

i've watched few volumes JIN manga previously.. and i'm satisfied watching JIN drama, so far. the flow really smooth. and so many favorite stars there.

and Tokyo DOGS just started.. from beginning till the end of Episode 1... i can't stop laughing. muahaha.. my comment? choooo cute, choo funny, sugoi, kakkoi, saiko!^^ i watched Tokyo DOGS because of my favorite girl YURIKO YOSHITAKA. my combi wish yuriko yoshitaka with osamu mukai actually. however, to see her with oguri shun and mizushima hiro is A-MUST! and otsuka nene!! i miss her and i love her roleplay. oh, we were born on the same day. so can i considered otsuka nene as my elder sister? :P

i love this season. normally i watched 1-2 dramas per season..
but for this Fall 2009, 7 dramas?! crazy.

but because those story lines quite balanced, my brain should be ok, i think. after heavy historical fiction theme [Fumo Chitai], then exciting time-slip Edo drama [JIN], then funny and cool special investigation theme [Tokyo DOGS] ... i already started watching nakama yukie. phew, now i'm gonna start to watch mizuki arisa... also erika toda.
