Orkut adds More Regional Languages to Profile Features

Orkut the most Popular Social Networking site in Brazil and India is probably unknown to the rest of world. What is the reason??

Orkut might not be as Popular as some of the Popular Social Networking sites like Facebook or Myspace but seems to be growing everyday with its recent addition of Web 2.0 Layout and Buttons.

Orkut recently had updated its layout from an old and dull layout to a Sophisticated but less impressive Web 2.0 layout. Face book and Myspace are probably the top social Networking sites across the English Speaking World but seem to be lacking Users from the Non English Speaking Countries.

Orkut a product of Google seems to be targetting the Non English Speaking Users for its growth and to compete with the gaints of Social Networking Myspace and Facebook. Orkut has added new languages to its Interface like Deutsch, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Marathi,Bengali, Tamil,Telugu, Hindi,Chinese and Japanese etc.

The advantage of adding Interfaces in Regional Languages would probably help Orkut to grow in Countries where the majority of People are non English Speaking but for the Social Networking site to grow else where could this be enough....

With Brazilians and Indians forming about 60% of the users in Orkut and the rest of the world favouring Myspace and Facebook Orkut definetely needs to add more than just adding Languages and web 2.0 Layouts. What do you think....??

Google seems to be in a hurry to improve the Quality of Blogspot Blogger service and has been adding quite a bit of features recently.Blogger has recently been added a nice Video Upload features for Blogspot users. Another Interesting Feature that Blogger has added is the Inline Link feature as shown below

The new feature lets Blogspot users to add Back links to Posts directly at the bottom of the post.The Link feature would be very useful if your blog posts are frequently linked to other Blogging articles and you want the links to these easily spotted on your public blog.

In Order for this feature to be useful Bloggers need to Enable the Show Link Field Option to 'Yes' in their Blogspot Settings. This is a Wonderful new feature that would allow Bloggers to
track back links to Blog Posts.

Would you Choose Blogging as a Career

The word Blogging has been Buzzing more than ever in the history. We have seen Blogger's from the age of 10yrs to 70yrs everyone having a reason to Blog. Some Blog for Passion while other do it for Money and the third category do it for both Money and Passion.

Can Blogging be chosen an Career ?. This is the question that one of my friend has asked me.We had several arguments with no ending to it.. Well it is a Tough Question that has an Yes and a No answer.

Blogging certainly seems to be easy but Blogging for Money seems to be a Difficult Task and it takes time. What i mean is that you cannot become a Multi Millionaire Blogger by posting a couple of posts in a week and expect the money to flow in. There is tremendous amount of Harwork beyond all the successful Blogs like DumbLittleMan, Problogger etc

The most important thing that an Amateur Blogger has to learn in his early days it to not expect overnight results. Believe me Miracles are not going to happen. Success depends on the amount of Hard work you put in and the amount you want to grow.

As the Guru of Blogging Word Problogger Says Blogging is definitely not a One man Show and you can expect people to turn up to your Blog unless you get involved with others. As a Blogger you need have a Community to grow up. Link to other Bloggers. Ask them Questions and Participate in Forums, Emails, Groups etc.Bloggers are more kind hearted to help you with your Queries and you would probably have more solutions to your single query.

Coming to the actual Point of Blogging as a Career? The answer from the Probloggers would be an 'YES' and from others would probably me 'Maybe" or 'No'. Blogging in 2007 is growing at a tremendous pace and there is competition in Blogging than ever. Blogging is certainly a Risky Profession but has its advantages and Disadvantages.

As an Amateur Blogger do not think of the idea that you want to quit your Daily Job and start Blogging Full Time from the very next day you make Money with your Adsense account. The most important aspect for an Amateur Blogger who would want to turn in to a Problogger would be to establish a niche in the blogging world.

Learn the art of Blogging and you wouldn't be disappointed by what you have achieved in your life. You would make an enormous number of friends and people who would share similar thoughts as you. Every step you learn in the Blogger's world should probably convince you to take up blogging as a career. But are you willing to hang on as a Blogger until success is going to be around...

Statistics seems to Indicate that 90% of Bloggers give up in just a couple of months of Blogging. Blogging takes time and a Blogger should post interesting articles for at least an Year and than decide if he want to stick around Blogging world or call it Quits.....

Once you have established a solid platform in the Blogging world and you are making more Money in Blogging than your Full Time Job than you should probably ask yourself the Question Should i Quit my Full Time Job and choose Blogging as a Career?.

Blogging World is booming as never with thousands of Blogs starting everyday and with the ever enticing Google Adsense adding Monetary value to it Blogging has indeed become more from a hobby to a Profession.

There are Tonn's and Tonn's of Blogs out there in the Internet offering you advice on Blogging, Search Engine Optimization, Adsense, Search Engine Traffic etc and an Amateur Blogger has so much content in front of him that he is puzzled as What to take as advice and What Not to take as Advice.

Here are my 2cents while growing as an Amateur Blogger in this Blogging World

More Content More Traffic: If you take the case of any of the Top Blogs you should be able to notice that the more Content a Blog has the More is the Traffic unless it is a Blog about Celebrities or Porn. As an Amateur Blogger you don't need to post multiple Times a Day nor will you find time to post multiple times per day. The important thing is to be consistent in postings at least once a day.

Read 10 Folds more than Writing: It is simple Read more and ideas will strike your mind as your knowledge increases. Important sources of Information would be Books, Magazines, News Papers, other Blogs, News Letters etc.

Avoid Early Monetization: Programs like Google Adsense, Yahoo Publisher, Chitika, Text Ads entice most of the Bloggers in Monetizing their Blogs at the early stages. As a Blogger with very little Traffic to your Blog it is best not to Monetize your Blog. As Search Engine Traffic is more for your Blog Growth Bloggers should concentrate on Traffic Growth than Monetizing his Blog.

Quality is Important: Quality of the content is important for every Blog in order to convert a One Time Visitor to a Repeated Visitor. Top Blogs mainly get their Traffic from Loyal Visitors who Visit their Blog all the Time. If you are planning to Write 10 Posts per day with Average Content I would suggest that 4 Posts with Excellent Quality Content would be better off in Long Term Goals.

Blog for Long Term: Most of the Bloggers give up in a Week, a Month or after a Couple of Months. It is important to Understand that Blogging is easy but Monetizing is difficult. Blogging will take Time and Definitely more than a Couple of months in order to be notices by a Larger Crowd.

Avoid Checking Visitor Statistics: This is something that almost all the Bloggers tent to do But as an Amateur Blogger the rate is higher and one tends to get disappointed will the Low Traffic to your Blog in your early Stages. You cannot get a Traffic of 132,324,343,439( A random No) Visitors Per Day on Day one of your Blogging World. You need to Grow up consistently Day by Day, Week by Week and Month by Month and Year by Year.

Learn from Other Bloggers: As it is said You will Learn More by Observing it is very much True in Blogging World. Read others Blogger's Blog and learn about their Blogging Techniques, Posting Frequency etc

Yahoo Messenger Update for DoS Attack Bug

Yahoo has released a Critical Update to its Popular Messenger Service to protect Yahoo Messenger Users from a Dos attack from a Malicious attacker. News has been spreading across the Internet of a possible bug in Yahoo Messenger service that would potentially allow malicious attackers a computer system.

Yahoo seems to have accepted the potential flaws in Yahoo messenger and has quickly worked on a solution for one of the most popular Instant Messaging Service.

The Flaw in the IM service would potentially lead to a Malicious Script Installation if the user accepts a Webcam Invitation from an attacker. This would lead to a Potential Denial of Service to the PC owner and affect the whole System leading to loss of Productivity.

This is a critical Update for the Yahoo Messenger Users to prevent Dos attacks on their Personal Computers. Yahoo has urged users to update their Yahoo Messengers to the latest update.

With the Gtalk Messenger growing in Popularity and growth of Multi Messenger Services like Meebo and others Yahoo would find it difficult to survive with Potential flaws like this coming out Frequently. The war for Instant Messaging is getting Hotter.... What do you Say... Post your Comments

Blogger Adds Inline Adsene Ads in Posts

Blogger had added a new Feature where users can insert Adsense Ads in between Posts. This new feature certainly is useful for all Bloggers who wanted to insert Ads either after the First post or insert ads for a couple of posts on the Main Page of a Blog.

This new feature is introduced as a Widget Application and would not be applicable to Bloggers like this Blog who still use the old Blogger Template. Bloggers can insert a maximum of 3 Adsense Widgets on any single page(as per Adsense Rules and Regulations).

Inorder to add Inline Adsense Ads users have to Edit the Post Widget and select the "Show Ads Between Blogger Posts" as show in the above Screen shot. Once Customized to show Inline Adsense Ads Bloggers can even customize the Number of Times an Adsense Ad would appear, Format of the Ad, Color, Font etc.

This Feature is certainly useful for Bloggers as they were faced issues of adding Inline Adsense Ads on the Main Page of Blogger. It is time for Bloggers to switch from the old Blogger Template to the Widget Layout Version to utilize the new features in Blogger.

Google adds Adsense Videos to YouTube

Youtube Videos the most popular Online Video Network seems to be the next target for Google AdSense as i noticed an Advertisement while playing an Online Video on Youtube. It looks like Google AdSense is testing Advertisements on selected Youtube Videos.

The Adsense Ads on the Youtube Videos seems to be transparent and appear at the bottom of the Video Screen. Further Google seemed creative as to when the ads would appear in the Video. Youtube Adsense Ads appear exactly 15seconds after the start of a video and lasted for 15 seconds. Also the Advertisements seems to be irrelevant to the Video that is currently playing on Youtube.

Once the Adsense Ads are clicked they would appear on the entire screen with an Exit button on the top right corner to return back to the Youtube Video. The ads also seem to be a One Time ads as they do not re appear again in the Youtube Video for a particular user.

Google smart Advertisement might or might not successful as the whole world has been watching Ad Free Videos at Youtube. Would the Online Video Viewer be annoyed by these Flash based Advertisements or would he be happy with it.. Only Time can tell.. What do you say..... Post your comments !

Book application is a nice piece of Widget kind of application that lets users to Read ebooks on their iPhone.

Book.app application lets users to read ebooks in HTML and text files stored on your iphone with ease. I personally like the feature where the Book application lets use to read a book that is broken down in to multiple chapters.

Zach has a quite tedious and tiresome method of installing ebooks .Though the Installation process is pretty tiresome for a Beginner. it is kind of worth if you are a avid Ebook reader and an iPhone Owner.

Did you know that you could convert your Images or Photo in to Text Images. Image Distortion is not something that is new but is one nice way to laugh at yourself as to how funny you will look when your Photo is converted in to a text Image.

Photo2Text is a nice online Tool that lets users to Convert Images to Text. Users can upload any form of image files like JPEG,BMP, GIF or TIF files into the File Uploader and the Image gets converted in to a Text Image immediately. Users can even save and store Text Image that is created from the uploaded Image. Here is a snapshot of How a Photo to Text Image Looks like...

Phot2Text lets users to convert the Image to a Text Image and store it as a Text file. Users have the option of Converting image to Text or an ASCII Photo based on user specifications. Users can also adjust the Brightness of the Image as per the Requirements. You even have the option of choosing the characters that would be used to create the Text Image. Users also have the option of storing the Text Images Online as a .aspx file.

I have seen so many Start up Bloggers either Monetizing their Blog with PayperPost or ReviewMe Services at their early startup. Basically these services Pay Bloggers for Posting articles on Topics of their Choice on their Blog. Is it really worth?

Recently i read an article as show above a list of Top Earners at PayperPost and other Paid Review Services. I Particularly have nothing against Paid Bloggers but i definitely feel that Blogging just for the sake of Money seem to really reduce the Quality of Bloggers in the Blogging World.

Taking an example of any of the Top Bloggers like Stevepavlina, Problogger there is definite quality in their Blogs. One cannot make Huge Money in Blogging from Day One and it is certainly going to take some time depending on the amount of Time and effort you are putting into it.

On the other Hand there are Paid Posts where a Blogger posts about a Topic for example "Credit card Debt ". The Blogger who is reviewing the topic would have absolutely no knowledge about the topic but would have a Blog post on the Topic. Here is a nice example why one blogger has quit PayperPost Review.

Blogging definitely could be used for Monetization but at the same time one shouldn't Blog just for Money. Blog with Passion and you are definetely going to make a number of new friends and at the same time learn a number of things that you wouldnt learn in the outside word.

Philadelphia Courier a Premier newspaper has fallen in Love with Yahoo Advertising Network. Yahoo would be adding Advertising Technlogy and Advertising Sales to promote products on Philis Online Newspaper Site as the Newspaper is struggling to find Income and Readers.

Online Advertising certainy seems to have its effects as more than 400 Newspaper Online Versions have added Online Advertising to their Weblogs. Gone are the days of letter writing with Pen and Paper. In the present it is all Email, Instant Messaging, Twitter, iPhone and what not.. Technology has really kind of over spoilt the kids.

Fuzzmail is a nice online Email Service that is developed at MIT Media Lab by Hayes Raffle and Dan Maynes-Aminzade. So what is so different about Fuzzmail compared to other popular Email services like Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail ?.

Fuzzmail is basically an Emotional email service Where the Email services records you act of Writing Email.What it means is that You way of Writing your Email is recorded by Fuzzymail. For example you could add some words and than change them or else add colors or images to your Email but later decided to Remove them. Fuzzmail records all these instances of changes to your Email and send its over to the receiver.

The idea of Fuzzmail might not be as productive when you are Composing an Email to your Boss or Professor at school but would definitely help you if you are writing a Love Letter to your Girl Friend. It would show the amount of effort you have put in in writing the content of the letter to your lover. After all Girls love the Talk!

The presence of such a High Speed Broadband Internet Connection shows that Distance cannot limit the Bandwidth and Speed of Internet connection. While countries like North America and other European Countries enjoy High Speed Internet Connection it is still far from reality in Developing countries in Africa and Asia.

India the fastest Developing country still doesnt have dedicated Broadband connection even across Major cities like Delhi, Bombay, Chennai and Calcutta. Some Countries in Africa don't even know what Internet is and on the other end of the spectrum we have 40GB High Speed Connection. What a reality?. The funny thing about this article was that the most difficult part of setting up this internet connection was Installing Windows OS on her PC.

Did you know that there are about 138,000,000 Blogspot blogs and about 90% are unproductive Spam Blogs. Are Keywords in Posts and Title URL's Important for Search Engine Traffic

Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN or take any other search Engine base their Results of a Search text based on the Keywords. This might be familiar for Bloggers but for Bloggers who are new to this Blogging World here is a tip for you .I have used this Technique for a couple of my posts and have seen an Increase in Search Engine Traffic. Keywords are nothing but words used by Search Engine Users across the World to find Content relevant to their Search Term. Search Engines use these Keywords and try to Find Relevant Pages on the Internet from across Billion's of Web pages . Blog Posts that have relevant content to the Search Term would be Displayed in the Search Results.

Again the Results would be Displayed based on Relevancy and then on the Freshness of the Content. So What do we learn from this Information ?. A Majority of Blogs that are growing up would get Traffic mainly from Search Engines compared to the Traffic from other Blogs or Link Exchange Websites.

Bloggers who are Starting a Blog must give Importance to Keywords in order to Find Traffic from Search Engines. The Best Place to Start using Keywords would be in the Title and in the Blog posts. Title forms the First impression to a Blog Visitor. So that doesnt mean you flood in all the keywords in your Title. All it means is that the next time you post a Blog Post just think for a minute about Keywords.

Just think about the Keywords that your Visitor might use in Search Engines relevant to the content in your Blog post. Add one or Two Keywords in your Blog Post and a couple in your Blog Post to rank yourself high in your Search Engine. Adding Keywords to Title and Posts is Imperative of Bloggers who use Adsense or any other Content Based Ad System.

There are a number of sites promoting about Adsense Keywords, Top Paying Keywords, Popular Keywords, High Paying Keywords etc. I do not know if they work or not but following such a system will only degrade the Quality of your Content. Blogging is not about only Making Money. It is a way of Expressing your Interests. You need to Enjoy the Process of Blogging. After all if you can become Rich Overnight Who wouldnt want to...??

Google Adwards Tool, Overture and Word Tracker offer Nice Free Keyword Tools that let you Search for Keyword relevant to your Content. I Particularly like the Overture Keyword Selector Tool as it gives me a Number of the Quantity of Searches for the Keyword in the Current Month.

So the Next Time you Make a Post Try using of these Keyword Tools and Monitor your Posts for Traffic.

Remember that Blogging is a Learning Process and it will Take time and Traffic will grow Steadily. You could also try adding Images relevant to your Post to increase Visitors interest. Recent Survey indicates that most Visitors first Browse through a Blog Content first Before they sit down to Read Topics of interest on a Blog.

Website Optimization and Search Engine Optimization are probably the most searched keyword among Blogging Community. For a New Blogger who is stepping his foot in to this Blogger Community it all sounds Greek and Latin.

Optimization of your Blog for Content is really important in order to drive Search Engine Traffic. For most of the Blogger the main Traffic comes from Search Engines and one has to Optimize their Blogs for Search Engines.

You can get an Analysis if your Blog has too many Images and that is really slowing down your Blog. Though Google does not follow the Meta Keywords it is still used by other Search Engines like Yahoo and MSN. The Best feature that i like about this Website Optimizer(Grader) is the Readability Level of your Blog.

The Analysis would indicate what Grade of Education a Visitor to your Blog should be in order to Understand the Content of your Blog. I really like this feature as it helps me to make my posts simpler so that it can be understood by a 7th Grader.

Though the Website is more Directed towards commercial Websites it could be used by Bloggers to optimize their Blog.

Increase Blog Readability by Adding Pictures

I Stumble across a lot of Blogs online and with information overflowing How does a User decide if he is going to read the content on the Blog or skip to the next Blog.

Well the question is really complex with no single answer but statistics on the Internet could give you an idea as to How you can Hold on to your Visitors with Quality Content and with a bit if Glamour.

A Recent Study by the Online Publishers Association has indicated that there is a 47% growth in users who are Interested in Watching Content rather than reading,Web search content only accounted for 5% of Internet usage. What does this study relate to Blogging?. Well the point that the study indicates is that First time Users tend to navigate across the website looking for Interesting Content rather than reading it.

It is said that " A picture can talk more than a few words" so the point that Iam trying to reach is that Bloggers need to have Quality Content but at the same time add some Life of Interest to your Posts with a Picture. An Image that is related to a Post will definitely catch the interest of the visitor.

With a new blog started at every few minutes it is important for Start up Bloggers to convert a First Time Visitor to a Returning Visitor. So the next time don't forget to add a picture to your Post.What do you think of the idea??.

Zoho Writer adds more Language Features and Restores Full Search Feature

I have always been a fan of Open Source Software and one of my Favourites is the Zoho Software Bundle. Zoho could also be called as the Free Microsoft Office Package as it does offer features that are comparable to Microsoft Office. Zoho has recently updated its Writer Software to add more language support and a Search Feature included in Zoho Writer.

Zoho Writer is an Online Word Processing Software where users can create, share and Edit Word Document Files Online with ease. Users have no hassles of installing Large Software Packages on their Hard Disks using Zoho Writer. All you need to do is create a User name at Zoho Website and you are all ready to create, edit and modify a Word Document.

Zoho has a nice impressive design and offers great features that can be easily taught or learnt by novice or beginner users. I personally like a feature in Zoho Writer where Multiple users can work simultaneously on the same Document at the same Time. Zoho also allows users to use Switch Features where users can switch between various products offered like Zoho Chat,Zoho meeting , Zoho NoteBook etc with ease.

Zoho Latest Update has added Japanese Language support to Zoho Writer along with exisiting support to English , French, Spanish, German etc. The Full Search that has been disabled for a long time has been restored to allow users to search within Documents in English Only.

Zoho even offers an iPhone version Software known as iZoho. iZoho is the iPhone compatabile version of iZoho Office suite that by far is the best office software for iPhone.

How to Move Blogger Account between Blogger Users

One of my Friend who uses a Blogger account asked me if he could move his Blogger Account from one Account to another Account. After a little bit of work it is possible for Blogger with a Blogspot account to Transfer his Blog from One account to Another account.

How to Move Blogger Account:

First Login to your Blogger Account and in your Dashboard you would have three options under Tabs named Posting, Settings, Templates.
Select Setting Tabs and Choose the Permissions Sub Tab under it
Under the Permission Tab you need to add a Blog Author to whoom you want to Transfer your Blog account.
Send an invitation to the New Email Account to which you want to Transfer the Blog Account.

Next Logout of your Current Blogger account and ask the Blogger to whoom you want to Transfer the Account to accept the Invitation that was sent to him
Once the Invitation as Blog Author is Accepted than you need to Login back to your Blogger Account and Follow the same instructions as Posted above till you reach the Blog Authors Section.
Now in the blog Authors Section you would see two Email Account that have access to your Blog account as shown in the Screenshot.

If you look at the above screenshot you would see one account that has an Admin access and the new Blog author account that you recently added has a Guest Access .

Double Click the link "Guest" and the new Author would now have Admin access

Remove the old Blogger Account from the Admin access and the Blog is now Transferred to a New account . I would be interested if this Method Works for other Bloggers. Post your Reviews.

Orkut Adds New Audio Video Image Upload Feature

Orkut the Social community site started by Orkut Buyukkokten has added some new features that could spice up the Social community site as it lags far behind Myspace and Facebook in terms of Volume and Numbers.

The scrap book feature in Orkut has been spiced up by adding features like adding Video, Audio and Image Upload Features in the site.

The Scrap Book till date would allow users to only send text messages and few smilies. These features were far remote compared to features offered by Myspace and Facebook. Orkut has added the new features where users can paste Dynamic HTML content like Video Links, Audio in to the scrap messages and users would be able to view its content right in the scrap book.
Orkut even allows users to post Podcast links and Image links on your ScrapBook. All you need to do is post the Html Link of your Images in your Scrapbook and the Images can be viewed right inyour Scrap Book. Google is seriously trying to catch up on Myspace and Facebook in terms of numbers.

Google has to really work on its Social Community site if it has to come anywhere near Facebook or Myspace. The Features in Orkut are pretty Limited and lack evolution.
