Here are a few signs that will help you determine whether it's worth it to pull out your pet insurance card and head to your local veterinarian.

Your pet stops eating on a regular basis. If you haven't changed your pet's diet recently, a change in eating habits is a sign that something's probably up. Wait one to two days before taking action to see if something (unless you notice other significant symptoms).

Your pet is drinking excessive amounts of water. Baring a serious change in weather (ie: a 100 degree day or two), this is a sign that your pet may be experiencing kidney issues. This symptom is usually accompanied by excessive urination and frequent in-house accidents.

Your pet's fur starts to lose its sheen. Pay particular attention to any new bald or dry patches. Changes to a pet's coat can signify anything from a flea allergy to a skin problem.

Your pet vomits frequently for more than an hour. If you are able to determine that the vomit isn't caused by a passing stomach issue, consider your pet's emotional state. Does he seem depressed or in pain? If so, call your vet right away.

Investigate your pet's poop. Keep an eye out for rice-shaped pieces, which can be an indication of worms. Loose stool accompanied by other signs (vomiting, excessive thirst, change in diet) is another indication that you should call your veterinarian right away.

Failure to do adequate research and fully understand what they are purchasing is the main reason that pet owners have claims denied and/or end up being disappointed with pet insurance. Reading and understanding the policy they are about to purchase is an absolute necessity to making a wise purchase.

The first thing you should do when beginning your research is to visit each company's website and obtain a quote for your pet(s). How to do this is usually prominently displayed on the website's homepage. You should do this first to avoid having to read through a lot of information about policies for which your pet may not even be eligible for coverage. For example, the company may not offer policies in the state you live in. They may not offer policies to pets over or under a certain age. You will usually be asked to answer some questions about your pet's previous medical history and if your pet has a chronic disease, the company may offer you an accident-only policy. When answering questions about your pet's health - be truthful. Any attempt to mislead the insurance company is fraud and grounds for the company to cancel the policy.

Please listen to the following advice because I consider it to the the one thing that every pet owner must do before purchasing pet insurance. After you have determined which policies your pet is eligible for, print out a copy of a sample policy and read it. I've seen or heard of too many pet owners who only read the policy after having a claim denied or getting back a reimbursement much lower than they expected. Most of the time, the reason was right there in black and white in the policy that they never bothered to read. As you are reading the policy, highlight any items you have a question about and call or e-mail the company for an explanation. Do not be afraid to continue asking questions until you are sure you understand the answers given. Do this for every company that you research.

Sometimes the reasons for the frustrations and remorse that pet owners have about their purchase of pet insurance is because the insurance company failed to provide the customer service that they should have. But, many times it is because the pet owner had unrealistic expectations because they didn't actually read and understand the policy they purchased.

You may be saying, "Gee Doc, that seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to just to buy pet insurance." Consider this scenario. Let's say 2 years after you purchase a policy you become frustrated and decide to drop your policy (with Company A) and go with a different company (Company B). During the 2 years you were with Company A, you filed several claims. When you sign up with Company B, there is a chance that those problems could be excluded from coverage as pre-existing conditions. So, it's best to do all you can and get it right the first time.

Dr. Kenney practices small animal medicine and surgery in Memphis, Tennessee. He enjoys teaching pet owners how they can save money on their pet's healthcare expenses by avoiding unnecessary visits to their veterinarian for the treatment of avoidable accidents or illnesses. He also emphasizes the importance of pet owners partnering in a long-term relationship with a veterinarian for wellness care visits intended to keep their pets healthy. Dr. Kenney also has an interest in pet health insurance and how it can be beneficial to pet owners and veterinarians, but most of all pets.

He has authored a book, "Your Guide To Understanding Pet Health Insurance" that also includes the companion book, "The Wise Pet Owner" available online at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Your-Guide-Understanding-Health-Insurance/dp/0982322100/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242854554&sr=8-5). Check your auto insurance to see if your pet is covered in case of collision.

Auto insurance companies like Progressive offer special riders for pet owners in the event that their pets become injured during car travel.

2. Make sure your policy has a wellness plan.

Wellness plans were created by insurance companies to help pay for routine pet care like physical exams and annual vaccinations. If you enroll your pet at a young age, you will reduce the chance of insurance companies excluding your animal for pre-existing conditions.

3. Make sure your pet is covered by a stable company.

Longevity is key when selecting a pet insurance company. Find out how long your company has been in business and examine how they are viewed by the Better Business Bureau. Steer clear of companies that have a large number of customer complaints.

4. Get immediate coverage.

Make sure you sign up for a policy that activates the day that you sign the dotted line. Many companies choose to delay policy benefits for certain aspects of your policy's coverage, sometimes forcing you to wait up to 30 days for coverage.

5. Make sure you're covered on the road.

Some companies like to sneak in an exclusion that precludes your pet from insurance benefits when he is physically away from your property.

6. Avoid companies that promise to reimburse you “as quickly as possible.

Consider this similar to when your second cousin Louie asks you for a loan. In both cases, you're likely to never see your money again.

7. Policy cancellation penalties should be non-existent.

Companies should never charge you for cancelling their benefits.

8. Stock up on meds before traveling with your pet.

Nothing slows down insurance reimbursements like pet bills from atypical locations. Ensure that your benefits will be in full effect by planning ahead for extended absences.

9. Look for discounts.

The ASPCA and the Humane Society both offer vaccination clinics at reduced rates. These clinics can often cost less than an insurance-covered visit to your primary veterinarian.

10. Get a second opinion.

You may trust your vet, but if she is recommending costly procedures, call up your pet insurance company to discuss possible alternatives or to ask for recommendations for a second opinion.

However, if you are at-fault, you may want to check your auto insurance policy; there might be exclusions. For example, your collision coverage (if you have it) will pay for the damage and repairs to your car, but exceptions include the transport of personal property, such as a fragile box, a television set, or your pet. In this case, your pet will not be covered.

Your pet is your personal property, according to many auto insurance companies, which means that if your pet was injured in a car accident and it's the other driver's fault, you have the right to file a claim in order for your pet to be as it was before the time of the accident. However, if a pet's passing is the result of the car accident, your compensation would be limited, since most insurance companies do not consider the loss of pets to fall under "loss of companionship" compensation because they are deemed "personal property." Therefore, you may only make a claim for the market value of your pet, if they died in a car accident.

Note: some courts have actually allowed deceased pets to be deemed "pecuniary value" or "special value." This is for personal property that has unlimited market value.

Protecting Your Pet For Optimal Auto Insurance

It is important that your pet is well protected, if you decide to take them along on a cruise in your vehicle. Therefore, be sure to follow these tips to ensure your pet has ultimate protection against other drivers as you drive:

• Make sure to keep your cat in a cat carrier or in a suitable cage. This will prevent them from roaming throughout your vehicle and eliminate distraction for you.
• Dogs should ride in the back of the car at all times. If you have a truck, dogs should ride on the truck bed in a comfortable kennel that is fastened to the vehicle.
• Do not let your pet ride with their heads out of the vehicle to prevent injury or infection due to dust particles or other passing vehicles.

Researching Pets And Auto Insurance Is Highly Encouraged

If you like to know more about car insurance and pets, you should research more on the topic, because it is a serious issue being addressed by many pet owners. Your pet is your family member, and it should be treated as one. A pet serves many purposes for a person. It may serve as a form of entertainment or for purposes of cheering up a person. A pet may also serve as a symbol of love among couples. Regardless of the purpose of a person in acquiring a pet, pets should be taken care of like humans because they too have lives and they too are part of their owners' lives.

There are many kinds of pets. Some people prefer pets that can walk or travel with them from place to place like cats and dogs. Some prefer pets that remain stationary within a certain area such as fish and birds. The most popular pet among many people, especially children is the playful puppy.

People see puppies as cute little creatures. Puppies like to move and play around and also to explore different things within their surroundings. They are very curious bundles of amusement. Unfortunately, puppies, due to their youth and weaker bodies, are more prone to sickness than adult dogs and are more likely to be involved in accidents because of their lack of experience or sheer curiosity. Thus, many people who have puppies as pets spend a lot of money for their treatment due to sickness or injuries from accidents. The bills for veterinarians are sometimes too expensive that it gets into the way of a person's budget thereby preventing him or her from acquiring necessary things.

Puppy insurance is not quite popular among people. Many people think that it is a mere luxury that is not necessary. Little do people know that they will be able to save a lot of money if they insure their puppy. Puppy insurance covers risks that may cause the sickness or death of a puppy. Since the body of puppies are weaker compared to older dogs due to their youth, they are more prone to sickness and more likely to develop injuries in case of accidents. Therefore, investing in puppy insurance is a wise move in order to avoid those repetitious veterinarian bills from accumulating.

The Author knows a lot about a wide range of insurance types. However, these pets are typically a lot more expensive to care for than traditional pets like dogs or cats for example. Insurance for horses is a simple way to get cover for any treatment fees that may crop up, either as a result of an illness or even an emergency with your horse.

There are a number of companies offering horse (or equine) insurance across the country. When choosing the company to go with, bear in mind a few important factors before signing up. The cost may be an important factor for you, but cheaper policies will insure you for less, and may even have a fixed limit on the cost or even the length of treatment. Be sure to read the small print so that there are no unwanted surprises regarding treatment of your horse.

No matter how well you take care of your horse, the medical expenses involved in owning one are far higher than a traditional pet. This may even include the regular vet fees. The truth is that many horse-owners face losing their horse simply because they cannot meet the vet costs, and this is where horse insurance is a valuable asset, right from the first day you own your horse.

To find the best deals on insurance for horses, you can use the internet to compare prices and policies. It is important to remember that each policy will be different, and the cheapest isn't necessarily the best. Spend some time to find out what is (and what is not covered) before signing up.

Find the BEST insurance for horses at the authors pet insurance website by clicking here.

Harris

Cheap pet insurance is out there, but you need to search carefully to be sure that you have found a policy that is cheap as in inexpensive, not cheap as in not worth it. We all are guilty of wanting a bargain. In today's economic climate more of us are watching our pennies. But we must be careful, because sometimes what looks like a bargain on the surface turns out to be a costly mistake. Want you want is to find a good solid pet insurance policy that covers all your health care needs and costs as little as possible. How do you find low cost, good value insurance?

Firstly, when shopping for cheap pet insurance, learn the terms that insurance companies use to describe the services they offer and withhold. An exclusion is basically an uninsurable condition. Sometimes insurance companies will apply exclusions to pre-existing medical conditions, but sometimes they also will apply an exclusion to conditions connected to your pet's breed. For example, in small breeds there can be a tendency towards hydrocephalus or mitral valve endocardiosis. Both of these conditions can lead to serious medical problems including blindness and congestive heart failure and many insurance companies will refuse to cover problems growing out of the condition.

Two other insurance terms you should become familiar with are deductible and pay out limits. The deductible is the amount that you will pay upfront for service before the insurance kicks in to cover the remaining cost. The deductible amount is a pre-set amount and won't change unless the policy itself changes. Pay out limits can be one of the hidden traps of cheap pet insurance. Basically a pay out limit is the total amount the insurance company will pay for a specific treatment or group of related treatments. Some pay out limits have annual ceilings, many others are a set amount over the life of an animal. Check these limits carefully, what may seem like a great deal of money for a lifetime limit can disappear quite quickly leaving you with practically useless insurance just when your older dog needs the most health care.

When you learn how the insurance companies structure their exclusions, deductibles and pay out limits than you will be instantly able to see when an offered policy is a good value for the money. Remember, cheap pet insurance is not always good. What you want in a cheap insurance policy is a good policy with fair exclusions, deductions and pay out limits at a price that you can easily afford.

Sherry Harris is the author of a wide range of dog topics including, but not limited to: dog insurance, puppy training, dog grooming, pet travel, dog training and much more. Harris

Find pet insurance USA based providers deliver which will cover your pet's medical needs. As more and more Americans look into the benefits of insuring their pets the industry has begun to heavily scrutinize itself. A decade or so ago there were many unscrupulous companies that would sell worthless pet insurance and the industry got a reputation for selling a product that had no value. The good news is that things have changed a lot. Pet insurance companies now must be licensed by the State license bureaus in each individual state in order to practice. This makes it very easy for you to check on the legal status of an insurance provider and avoid getting ripped off.

Checking out the legality of the company whom you are seeking to do business with is only one of the steps you will need to take when you are looking for pet insurance for your American pet. Providers of pet insurance USA based now offer a really broad range of options for managing your pet's health. Critical care, accident cover, long and short term illness, routine vet care - all these things and more can be worked into a policy that is custom tailored to your pet's needs.

In addition to verifying that you are dealing with a reputable pet insurance USA based company you will want to closely read over and understand the small print of the policy before you sign the contract. Be sure you understand the deductibles, pay out limits, exclusions, and term limits. Will the policy extend into your pet's old age? Will it cover pre-existing conditions? Does it offer any routine care cover? If you move states will it transfer? Don't feel the need to rush through this evaluation period. If a company is threatening you with a time limit for signing the contract take that as a sign that they are not reputable and choose another company.

When you have satisfied yourself that a pet insurance policy it the right one for your and your animal, be sure you get copies of all contract terms, benefits and exclusion schedules for your records. This way you can refer to them if there is ever any question surrounding your coverage. Take your time to research the best pet insurance USA based policy for you and your pet. When you choose wisely you will never regret the choice you make for your pet's health.

Sherry Harris is the author of a wide range of dog topics including, but not limited to: dog insurance, puppy training, dog grooming, pet travel, dog training and much more. Harris

Should you get pet medical insurance now or later? Your pet is young and healthy. They received all the proper shots and early care before you took over their primary care and you still have months to go before they are due for more shots. It is tempting to let the pet insurance wait until a problem arises. There are many reasons why this is not a good idea. The most critical of these is the fact that insurance companies most often refuse to insure pre-existing conditions. If you wait until a problem develops you will be too late to get coverage and could end up paying out thousands of dollars in veterinary bills.

Some pet medical insurance companies will offer separate policies for your puppy or kitten that can transition into an adult policy as the animal grows. Puppies and kittens require more care in the first six months of life, not the least of which is spaying or neutering. Getting this coverage will not only ease the financial burden of caring for your new pet, but will help you get into good health care habits with your pet from the very outset. Study after study has proved that regular health care from an early age can help your pet live a longer and more active life.

Many people seem to be penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to health care for their pets. They balk at getting pet medical insurance for fear that they will pay monthly premiums for years and never need the insurance. This policy is short sighted to say the least. Studies show that basic health care for you animals can run upwards of $3000 over the lifetime of the animal that that is without considering any accident or critical care. A pet insurance policy can cost in the neighborhood of $3000 as well, but if there is an accident or traumatic illness the insurance will cover that cost. The key is to balance your lifestyle and the lifestyle of your pets against the probability of injury or illness and make your decision whether or not in invest in pet insurance.

For most of us it just makes sense to get pet medical insurance when our pets are young and maintain a policy throughout their lives. A good medical policy will give you peace of mind knowing that no matter what problem arises you will have the financial ability to deal with it.

Sherry Harris is the author of a wide range of dog topics including, but not limited to: dog insurance, puppy training, dog grooming, pet travel, dog training and much more. Harris

A puppy insurance policy will help ensure that your little bundle of energy and love will receive the very best care in his first year of life. It will also ensure that he makes the transition into adulthood in tip-top health because you have given him the best possible start to life. Puppies grow and change rapidly in the first year of life. Remember they are changing the equivalent of 10 to 15 human growth years. During this time they will not only grow taller and longer, they will lose a full set of baby teeth (probably by chewing up your favorite pair of shoes).

Puppies require more care in their first year than they will for the rest of their lives. Multiple rounds of shots and immunizations, spaying or neutering and parasite control are all big concerns during this first year of life. Look for a puppy insurance policy that covers all of these basic care needs and also has accident coverage. Puppies learn about their environment by exploring. They are extremely naturally inquisitive and headless of any dangers that might be lurking. Puppies will follow their noses anywhere including into areas where they might get hurt.

When shopping for puppy insurance you might want to look for a policy that will transition smoothly into his adult pet insurance policy. Many companies offer policies specifically designed to do this. Once your puppy has been spayed or neutered and has had his last round of puppy shots (at about one year of age - these are often considered the first round of annual vaccine for adult dogs) he can be transitioned onto adult health care coverage. During puppyhood, it is critical that you make visits to the vet as calm as possible. The way your puppy learns to interface with your vet can set a pattern for his entire life so keep the experiences as light and non-threatening as possible.

Puppies can bring an astonishing amount of love into our lives. It is only right that we repay some of that love with respect and excellent care. A puppy insurance policy will allow you to ensure that he has the very best of health care from the first day you bring him home. Combine proper attention to his health with plenty of play, cuddling, good food and fresh water and your puppy will grow into adulthood bursting with vitality, loyalty and love.

Sherry Harris is the author of a wide range of dog topics including, but not limited to: dog insurance, puppy training, dog grooming, pet travel, dog training and much more. At these times the expenses of caring for your dog can seem excessive, but with dog health care insurance you can have peace of mind that if any of the these unfortunate events do occur then you (and your pet) will be completely covered.

This type of dog insurance coverage will offer protection from most accidents and illnesses that could affect your pet including, but not limited to; cancer, heart conditions, liver failure, poisoning, accidents, reconstructive surgery and many more. How to do this without cleaning out our bank account can be a difficult thing. That is why we should have pet health insurance. Pet health insurance is like human health insurance in many ways. There are numerous variable that establish what our premiums will be. In this article we hope to familiarize you with some of the variables you may come across.

First, the company you choose will be the number one factor in what your premium will be. They offer many different plans with many different types of coverages. Which company you select and for what reason will determine your premium.

Secondly, the type of animal you have will also determine your premium. Some animals are cheaper to insure. For instance cats are cheaper than dogs. They tend to get less diseases and usually have less accidents. Dogs as a rule get more illnesses and tend to have more accidents out of the home. Many of the accidents with dogs are caused by the way dogs interact with humans.

Third, the breed of your pet may effect the premium of your policy. Some breeds of both cats and dogs have certain peculiarities to their breed which can end up in larger Vet bills. It could be their ears, their eyes or even their coats and skin types. Bone structure also varies greatly between breed.

Find: Discount Pet Insurance
Buy Cheap: Pet Insurance
Bryan Burbank is an expert in the field of Discount Insurance.

Harris

Finding the perfect pet insurance online has never been easier. There are numerous comparison websites which will allow you to quickly and easily scan a variety of companies for representative rates. Search engines have made it easy to find hundreds of sites simply by typing key words into the search bar. Pet related sites sponsored by veterinarian hospitals or pet supply companies have blog posts and article discussing the merits of the various policies. Basically, all you need to find the perfect insurance is the will to search.

Searching for pet insurance online is easy. In fact, it can be a bit too easy. A simple search for 'best pet insurance' can yield as many as nine million potential pages. A good rule of thumb for beginning searchers is to use Boolean indicators to help narrow the search. For example search 'best pet insurance + reputable' the search field narrowed to 38,000. Take a few moments and check out a dozen or so of the sites that come up. Many of them will be advice sites or comparison sites. From these you should be able to find a half dozen or so companies to query.

Compile a list of a few basic questions like - Do they allow freedom of choice - can you choose your own veterinarian? What is their claims submission policy and how long does it usually take to get reimbursement? What is the policy term length? What is the exact cost of the policy? What are the exclusions? What are the pay out limits? Is there a cooling off period? Will your animal be insurable even into old age? When you have compiled your list of questions put each company that you are considering to the test. When you receive their answers review them carefully to see how well they align with your needs and desires for pet health care. One of the nicest things about searching for pet insurance online is that many of the companies will have a chat or email feature on their site which will allow you to contact them directly with any questions that cannot be simply answered via their literature.

Finding pet insurance online has never been easier. Web-savvy pet owners will be able to search out the answers to their health care questions and ascertain the best possible policy for their pets. Even pet owners that are new to the web will soon be searching with abandon and following links to learn more about haw to give their pet the very best of care.

Sherry Harris is the author of a wide range of dog topics including, but not limited to: dog insurance, puppy training, dog grooming, pet travel, dog training and much more. Walker

If you love your pet as much as you say that you do then you will be making sure that s/he is insured against the cost of having to have veterinarian attention. It is of a greater significance now than it has ever been, and the reason for this is that the cost of veterinarian care is really high. This increase in the cost of animal care is not because of nothing, but because the advancement of technology, meaning that animals can now be cured of things that they could not have been previously.

Getting an insurance policy for your pet means that you are always prepared. If you are in a position whereby your animal gets hurt then you don't have to worry about a vet bill for a couple of thousand. You can simply inform your insurance company and thy will cover it.

There are reasons for having your pet insurance that are not entirely apparent. One of these is that your pet could make you liable for the harm that it does to another. Even though most of the stories in the press relate to animals that attack people due to the fact that they are trained to be nasty, it is impossible to predict what is going on in a dogs mind, and therefore you need to make sure you are protected against such an occurrence.

It is also possible to get the cost of a holiday cancelled if you have to cancel it because of your pet, paid for. Obviously such a left field coverage aspect would not be included in the cheapest policies. It would be part of a comprehensive package, where pretty much everything is considered.

Some treatments on certain animals need to be conducted in a foreign country and should this be the case, then a comprehensive coverage package will pay for this.

There are a host of other options available when it comes to getting insurance for a pet or a number of pets, should you be so inclined. Prior to deciding which policy you are going to obtain, and with which company, you need to know exactly what you want.

Then it is a case of going on the InterNet, getting plenty of quotes, and choosing the company that best suits the needs of your pet and you.

Many people have animals, but some will ultimately struggle to cope financially should anything happen. Look online for some Cheap Pet Insurance quotes online at CompareIt4Me.com

They know they have certain responsibilities and need to keep their pet healthy and happy, but sometimes that is difficult, especially with the rising costs of pet medical care.

Some pet owners take care of this themselves by saving a certain amount which they put away for health care costs for their pet. But in many cases this just doesn’t work, most of us just don’t have the financial discipline to do it. And in the end we get surprised anyway when our pet gets ill.

The best option for most pet owners is cheap pet insurance. There are ways for you to find a good pet insurance policy at a very low cost. The following tips will help you:

Compare Prices

Look online at different pet insurance companies and compare prices. Different insurance companies offer different services with different premiums so you need to find a policy that will insure your pet for his needs.

Go Over the Terms of the Policy

read the policy carefully and decide if its really what you need, or whether it just has too much fluff. Make sure you are actually getting the coverage you need for your type of pet. Pay close attention to chronic illness coverage and how much the policy will cover.

How Much is the Deductible?

Many pet insurance companies try to offer cheap pet insurance by charging more on a deductible when it is time to take your pet in to the vet, and when you do need to file a claim with the insurance company. If this is really a high amount then the cheap policy may not be as cheap as you thought.

How Long will the Insurance Company Cover the Pet?

Some pet insurance companies cover a certain amount per year of a chronic illness. And others will only cover a portion of time over the whole illness, like the first year of the illness. So if your pet comes down with arthritis some companies will only pay the first year of treatment. The policy you want to find, is one where a portion of the illness is covered yearly.

As you can see, sometimes choosing the cheapest insurance policy is not really the best option and may cost you more in the long run. Be sure you read carefully so that you can find the best insurance for you and your pet.

Matt D Murren owns and operates http://www.pet-health-insurance-advisor.com
Cheap Pet Health Insurance

Dogs, cats, and other household pets often go without care because the owners cannot afford to pay the medical treatment and medicines to care for the pets. Horses are more expensive than common pets, but the laws state that these creatures need medical treatment and vaccines, thus what can an owner do. Owners can take out pet insurance policies that will cover the pets 80/20 in most instances. Horses undergo various different ills than common pets, thus, special coverage is needed for these beautiful creatures.

The Internet has a wealth of resources that specialize in pet insurance, including horses’ coverage. Few owners may have other types of pets that will need specialized coverage, including goats, cows, hermits, pigs, mice, guinea pigs and so forth. While most insurance coverage plans will not cover many of the different household pets, few will offer coverage to common pets, including horses.

Horses are high maintenance critters that require special coverage. Thus, the Internet is open to suggestions, making available horse policy that will offer a generous amount of coverage to owners. Few policies will cover dental work, including coverage for both pet and owner. The policy will offer “personal accidental” coverage, and so forth. The downside is these insurance policies often cost more in premiums than standard insurance policies. Since we are dealing with a huge high maintenance animal, the premiums are higher, since the company will be paying out a fortune for vet care.

One of the common laws regarding horses that apply to owners in various states is the Equine Warning Laws. These laws protect horses and owners against liability, damage, and so forth. The owner is responsible to put up Warning Signs to warn the visitors that accidents/incidents can happen and direct them to safety, plus telling them, they are not reliable if the visitor fails to adhere to the warnings. Not every state has this law to protect homeowners; therefore, the owner would be wise to look for Pet insurance that will cover liability. Pet insurance coverage for horses will often cover the pet and the objects used for the pets needs, including horse trailers. The policies will cover theft, damage, loss, and so forth.

What horse insurance covers

Each policy is different, but few company’s will cover liability, death, stables, personal accidents, theft, riding liability, ‘loss of entry fees,’ hire in for horse maintenance, dental, straying, saddles, tack, vets charges, and so forth. Some of the leading claims filed for horse care are death accident/illness, vet fees for accident/illness, tack and saddler fees. Few providers offer comprehensive coverage to horses extending the coverage to more than forty different states. Thus, pet insurance for horses can offer advantages to owners that transport their horse out of state for shows, trades, and so forth.

Filing Claims

Many of the claims are similar to standard forms, however few companies’ present claims that target the specific incident and/or accident, including illness. For example, if you horse is ill then the company may send a form for that specific need. The company will recommend that you immediately contact the company via the toll-free hotline provided to you and immediately seek treatment for your animal. After you are done at the vet, the company will encourage you to make contact with the company. The claim forms are often downloadable online, thus making it convenient and easy to get the claims to the insurer immediately. Of course, you must go through the same procedures as standard health insurance, by sending receipts to the company. The hotline is setup so that you can get immediate disbursement if necessary.

Advisory: horse insurance may come with higher premiums if your animal is a high-risk. If your horse is used at Rodeos, Racing and so forth, there may be additional coverage needed, and you should expect to pay higher premiums. Few insurance companies may offer generous rates even if your pet is high-risk, so again shopping around are the best solution for getting great rates and comprehensive coverage.

Authored by Michael Bens. Bates

Pet Travel Insurance is becoming a very popular concept and pet owners don't have to undergo the headache of canceling their planned travel trip for the sake of taking care of their beloved pet. Travel pet insurance provides a comprehensive coverage and ensures that you don't have to be worried about spending money in the process and at the same time your pet is given due care.

General Coverage

Travel insurance for Pets covers your pets travel and stay in other places. Not all hotels will allow your pets to stay with you and there are only selected hotels that will give you this facility and if they do they will charge you heavily for the privilege. Remember not all tourist sites will allow your pets in. Insurance companies will reimburse you for the expenses undertaken.

Advantages to Insuring Your Pet

If your pet is not allowed into the place, whether its hotel or tourist site then you won't have any other option other than hiring a sitter for the time being or keeping the pet in the room or the lodge where you stay. In the first instance the pet insurance company may reimburse you for costs involved to find the Pet sitter and Pay his charges, whereas in the scond instance you will be required to compensate for damages done by the pet in your absence to the hotelier and so the insurance company will make good for the money you have paid.

Pets are not allowed to stay with the owner in most airlines, we all got off the plane and aited for our baggage to find it damaged, likewise with your travel carrier is also covered by the insurance company. However this will be applicable only if you prove that you have exercised reasonable care to prevent damages to pet travel carrier.

Pet Sitter and Other Factors

There are many reasons to insure a pet, depending on the reason why you decided to get a pet and possibly opt for a pet medical insurance in the first place. Pet Passport and Pet Health Insurance

With the introduction of Pet passports that have encouraged the growth of travel pet insurance industry. Formerly Pets would have to undergo many tests in the country where they are supposed to travel. The tests were taken to confirm they don't have fatal diseases like rabies and that they have taken all the required vaccinations. This was a said to be a difficult proposition because it took a long time for the tests to be over. However after the introduction of Pet passports this problem has lost relevance as the pet passport is deemed to be an authenticate evidence and documentary proof certifying the pet's health.

Your-Pet-Insurance provides information and tips on getting the best Pet Insurance UK around and offers other information on insurance including, Pet Travel Insurance.

Breed specific condition - This is very important. Different breed will have a different genetic disease like hip dysplasia which is something to do with your dog genetic. There are many common disease faced by every dogs but to get full insurance cover for your dog, breed specific condition is not something you should ignore. While some insurance companies is very generous with payout and some other benefits included, but there are certain insurance company which is not so generous and one might get some trouble in getting the money reimbursed when the needs come. In every insurance plan there will be a so called payout limit. Make yourself full informed on it.

C. Many do not even think about pet insurance until they have the option of spending $2,000 on your puppy that just got ran over or putting the puppy down. At some point and time your pet most likely will need a major surgery. It may develop cancer or drink leaking coolant from your car.

As an animal lover I really hate to see dogs and other pets that can be saved but the owner just can't spend the money upfront to save their loving friend. For the last 5 years consumers have spent 15% more each and every year on their pets. That's 100% more you spend then 5 years ago. The cost of a good vet has risen close to this as well.

Is Pet Insurance new?

Animal insurance or most often referred to as pet insurance has been around for many years now. In fact over in the UK 1/3 to half of all people in some areas have pet insurance on their pet. Getting insurance on your pet puppy is an investment. Your dog may never get sick but if he does then the insurance will offset the cost of major surgeries. With Every insurance policy you need to do a little research. All puppy breeds and pet breads have different traits and the rate for one pet will be different then another. You need to find out ahead of time what the insurance will cover. Will it cover regular checkups? What type types of surgery the insurance will cover and hospital stays? What is you co-pay?

Insure Your Puppy or Pet When They are Young

When puppies are young or any pet you are more likely to get a better deal. If you get insurance later in the dogs life the price will be more because adult dogs are prone to more health issues just like humans. If you are looking at saving a few bucks I recommend getting insurance that does not cover the regular checkups. This normally drops the price in half. Yes you would still have to pay for the checkups but at the same time you are balancing out your costs if the pet never ends up needing surgery.

It is always best to look at the puppy insurance plan and then make an informed decision based on your life style and the puppy. Pet insurance can be very low in price and the piece of mind it will give you is great. I know I do not have $5,000 to spend on my dog if he needs surgery but the insurance will cover most of it so when and if the time comes I do not have to tell my 5 year old that we had to put his best friend down because we could not afford to save his life.

For more information on pet insurance and to see our #1 pick visit us online at puppycaresite.com. More often than not this is because they weren't given the fully story about how it worked or why. We're going to look at six myths that we hear frequently.

Myth #1: You can't get pet insurance for an older pet.
Fact: Just because your pet isn't a puppy or kitten anymore doesn't mean you can't insure him! Pet insurance companies will usually issue a new policy to pets up to 8 or 10 years old, sometimes older if you get your veterinarian to do a health checkup. Your premium might be higher than on a younger pet and some pre-existing conditions may be excluded. Of course the best thing is to enroll your pet when he's young and healthy so you can avoid pre-existing conditions.

Myth #2: Since my pet is well now there's no point buying pet insurance. Fact: Precisely because your pet has been well means that now is actually the best time to buy pet insurance because your pet probably has no pre-existing conditions. Remember, pet insurance is the one thing you can't buy when you need it the most! Why wait until after your pet becomes sick and you wish you had pet insurance? Why wait until your pet gets a pre-existing condition that pet insurance won't cover? No matter how well your pet is today, there is always a chance that your pet could fall sick or get injured. Pet insurance is designed to protect you against the unknown but you have to plan in advance.

Myth #3: I have to wait until my pet's current medical condition has resolved itself before getting pet insurance.
Fact: Your pet's current condition may be considered a temporary pre-existing condition but that doesn't mean you can't get pet insurance to cover everything else. For example, if your pet recently cut its leg badly and is still undergoing treatment, conditions relating to this cut may be excluded for your first year of insurance but if everything resolves and clears up you will usually be eligible for full coverage again in the second and subsequent years. The best thing to do is to talk to the pet insurance company and find out for sure.

Myth #4: Pet insurance is only worthwhile if you have a very active pet or an older pet that is likely to develop problems.
Fact: While it is true that an older pet is likely to require a greater level of medical attention than a younger pet that doesn't mean that younger pets can't get sick or injured. And just because a pet isn't highly active doesn't mean it can't get sick. The reality is that, just as in humans, illness can strike even the healthiest pet and having pet insurance means you'll always be able to get the best care for your pet, not what you can afford.

For example, our company recently handled a claim for $3,565 for a 3-month old Akita that was attacked through the fence by a neighbor's dog. And the recent pet food recall reminds us all that sometimes things come completely out of the blue.

Myth #5: Pet insurance just doesn't pay. Fact: Sadly, there is (or was) more truth to this than not. For the longest time most pet owners only had the option of choosing from from a few pet insurance plans. These plans often capped claim payouts at ridiculously low levels that left pet parents substantially out of pocket. But today pet parents have more choices and many plans now pay based on the actual vet bill which means you get much more back at claim time. Just make sure you ask how claims are reimbursed.

Myth #6: I don't need pet insurance because I can save a small amount each month to pay for anything that might happen.

Fact: Setting aside a small amount each month can definitely help. But there are two downsides to consider: one is that many of us find it hard to save something every month, the other is that you may need to wait a long time before you've built up enough savings to pay for a serious illness or accident. For example, if you save $25 each month at 4% interest (paid monthly) after 5 years you will have saved $1,657. Your cat or dog is not going to wait until you've got enough money saved up to get sick! That same $25 could get you instead.

We hope that these answers will help you make wiser decision about whether pet insurance is right for you and your pet.

Alex Krooglik is the co-founder of Embrace Pet Insurance (or read our blog) in Cleveland, Ohio. How is today's pet parent supposed to navigate their way around all these choices?

These nine questions are designed to give you a headstart and save you time. As you learn more you will no doubt think of other questions too.

Does the pet insurance company give you a choice of deductibles, maximums, and copays? This is important because more choices mean more opportunities to design a plan to suit your budget.

Does the plan cover genetic conditions? Any pet can be at risk of genetic problems. Many pet insurance companies do not cover these but some do. For the most comprehensive coverage you want genetic conditions to be covered.

Does the plan cover chronic or recurring conditions? So if your pet gets sick in year 1, does it cover the same illness again in year 2? You want your plan to cover chronic illnesses.

Does the plan come loaded with coverages that you'll pay for but probably never use, like "Lost & Found" or "Accidental Death"? Don't pay for coverages that you'll never use.

What is and is not covered? Is it clearly stated on their website or over the phone? You don't want any surprises when you lodge a claim.

Does the plan pay claims based on a restrictive benefit schedule or the actual vet bill? You want to avoid plans with benefit schedules because they generally do not reimburse a very high percentage of your vet bill.

Are there per-incident limits that effectively cap the amount you could receive back? For example, some plans have a $3,000 per-incident limit. If you had a claim for $5,000 with one of these plans then the most you would get back would be $3,000.

How long does the company take to pay claims? Obviously the quicker, the better!

What are the company's rules around pre-existing conditions? Are they excluded permanently or temporarily? Remember, no pet insurance plan will cover pre-existing conditions straight away but if you're upfront with the company, they can be upfront with you.

Now that you're armed with these questions, go online or call the companies to make sure that you're getting what you expect from your pet insurance plan.

And as you learn about the different plans more you'll be in a great position to ask the right questions so that you can make the right decision for your budget and your pet.

Alex Krooglik is the co-founder of Embrace Pet Insurance in Cleveland, Ohio.
