You all know what they say about second chances, right?

If you're lucky enough to get it, don't waste it. And it seems luck is on John Galliano's side. He has been given another chance as creative director of Maison Martin Margiela by the brand's owner, Renzo Rosso ( called the 'Jeans Genius' by Suzy Menkes). Quite how the flamboyant and romantic couturier will interpret a fashion house built on avant-garde principles is anybody's guess.

Watch this space!

Check out Wes Anderson's hyper coloured car -racing short 'Castello Cavalcanti' featuring one of his favourite actors, Jason Schwartzman. Made for Prada, this Fellini- inspired short was shot in Cinecitta studios, where La Dolce Vita was filmed.

When Nicholas Ghesquière left Balenciaga this time last year, the world waited with it's breath bated of news as to what the French wunderkind would do next. Well, the wait is finally over. LVMH has confirmed the appointment of Ghesquière as it's new creative director -and with immediate effect- the designer will showcase his first collection for Vuitton in March next year.

Ghesquière is replacing Marc Jacobs, whose 16 year tenure at the storied fashion house ended last month.

I say it's an inspired choice as Nicholas is a visionary who would not only bring a breath of fresh air to the 160 year- old fashion house, but he would make it rock and roll cool for people to wear head-to-toe Vuitton again.

Nicola Formichetti is parting ways with Mugler, the fashion house he helped revive, after just two years. Fashion purists were up in arms when he was first appointed as the label's creative director, but others viewed it as a breath of fresh air and a re-introduction of the label to a new generation. Even Lady Gaga's help was enlisted to drive the message home.

I was lucky enough to meet Nicola Formichetti (and his team) while he was out here in HK in 2011. He was funny, witty, sarcastic and we got on just fine. We spoke about his love of Parisian vintage shops, poked fun at his overly embellished iPhone cover that he had custom made in Japan and fashion in general.

I wouldn't say the boots they'd be filing in are incredibly huge, but Mugler is yet to appoint a new creative director. There are rumours going round the fashion mill that Ghesquière

is taking over but this remains to be seen.

The world no longer waits with its breath bated, for Alexander Wang's maiden collection for Balenciaga was unveiled amongst a small group of editors in a 'salon-style format' in Paris today. The collection composed of 34 monochromatic looks, which included painted wool, embroidered leather and shaved mink. It's a strong start for Wang, who admits to spending a lot of time researching in the Balenciaga archives. I wish Wang well for it's no mean feat to follow on the footsteps of Nicholas Ghesquiere who ruled Balenciaga for 15 awesome years.

New York Fashion Week 2013

The most highly anticipated show at New York Fashion Week, Oscar dela Renta's Ready-To-Wear Fall 2013 collection featuring the handiwork of designer-in-residence, John Galliano, was unveiled on Tuesday the 13th of February.
This collection was definitely made by two designers. I mean it's pretty obvious who made what. The signature Galliano look is ever so present in the form of dresses cinched at the waist with thin belts, elegant gloves, finger-waved hair and dark eye shadow.

So what happens to Galliano now? His residency at dela Renta's studio was only supposed to last for three weeks. I think it's kind of Mr. dela Renta to open his studio door to Galliano when, I'm pretty sure, none of the other designers have extended the same courtesy.

I think it's about time Galliano was forgiven by the fashion world. His genius needs to be seen by us again. Or at least by me anyway.

Call me, John- I will hire you as my personal dress-maker.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, John Galliano is back with a studio gig with
Oscar de la Renta. The deal, which lasts for three weeks, was originally brokered by the most powerful woman in fashion, Anna Wintour.

Oscar explains, 'John and I have known each other for many years and I am a great admirer of his talent...he has worked long and hard on his recovery and I am happy to give him the opportunity to re-immerse himself in the world of fashion and re-acclimate in an environment where he has been so creative. Everyone in life deserves a second chance, especially someone as talented as John. I think life is about forgiving and helping people...I think John is doing all the right things.'

It's been a couple of years since that fateful evening when John Galliano was caught on film telling a Jewish couple that Hitler was his baby daddy. The fashion world was shocked and he was consequently banished from the House of Dior. Disgraced, he locked himself in a dark cupboard with nothing but his thoughts, his moustache and a truckload of Absinthe for company. Knowing full well that alcohol- the very thing that got him into trouble in the first place- was the last thing he needed, John drank himself silly and was said to have had lengthy soul-searching conversations between Monsieur Dior and the green fairy.

Ok, I made up the bit about the dark cupboard. What, it's Friday night and I'm staying in. I need to entertain myself somehow! Sheesh.
