However, since I just started by stating that, I guess the hardest part is over. XD

With two days into the New Year (or three, I`ve already lost count), I should probably start off with a New Year's resolution. I don't usually make these, because they seem to fail after about a week. (Note: Best record- 23 days without eating chocolate). As a result, I had decided that without a resolution there wouldn't be failure. I know... genious! However, this year is different. I have made a promise that I can guarantee you I will keep! What is it you ask?

*Suspense*

This year, I will NOT participate in any sort of activity that will require me to assume the role of a third wheel. (I thought fancy wording would make it sound more legit). Strange resolution right? Perfectly logical if you ask me. Let me tell you from experience.

A few days ago, a friend, my best friend and I decided to go to the movies to see Sherlock Holmes (Interesting movie, sometimes challenging to understand). Anyways, I knew the two were dating but I guess I didn't think much of it. I mean, I had spent time with them before... what was the big deal? So we went to the movies late (as usual) and ended up having to wait for the next show thus resulting in twenty minutes of free time before the previews. Things were alright, nothing too abnormal but then, the movie started. Then came the arm around the shoulder, the head on the chest, and then, POUF!, the kissing session! PERFECT! I honestly wouldn't be complaining if it wasn't two people I was pretty close with. And to make things worse, I didn't have any popcorn! The only comfort I had was my finished slushie (It was long gone during the 20 minute previews). So I had nothing to do but try to ignore the awful feeling of awkwardness building up inside me and fight the growing temptation to yell "Get a room!" so that the entire theatre would hear. Unfortunately, I didn't go for it. Instead I focused on the movie and tried to decipher the complex mysteries before Sherlock (which failed). I also spent some time deciphering the intense English accents which always leave me puzzled. To think I can't even understand my mother tongue! The movie ended (after many hours of agony) and I left the theatre with a big smile on my face and a sick stomach. Definitely SCARRED FOR LIFE! So this leads me to conclude that my New Year's Resolution requires a slight tweek -- This year, I will NOT participate in any sort of activity that requires me to assume the position of a third wheel. This will be especially true when the parties involved are my friend and best friend, and when the location is a movie theatre (revolting places, those theatres). I hope you do the same, for your own sake. What an interesting evening, right?

On a different note, I would just like to say thanks to two pretty special people when it comes to this blog that I hope doesn't fail (so please comment, follow, read etc.). Thanks to gillie and camilla (hope you don't mind me writing your names online)!!! These are the people that told me how hideous my background used to be (back when I had neon green and orange as my two dominating colors) and encouraged me to continue blogging (or to keep starting)! WOOT! (More on them, when my post isn't this long).

Happy '10! Hope you spend some of it reading this blog. More to come when something interesting (or revolting) occurs in my life!
-David
