Seconda affermazione in carriera per l&#39;australiano Daniel Ricciardo, protagonista d&#39;eccezione del Gran Premio d&#39;Ungheria 2014. Il giovane pilota del team Red Bull, grazie ad un rush finale degno di un futuro Campione del Mondo, è riuscito a strappare il successo allo spagnolo Fernando Alonso (autore di una gara altrettanto memorabile) e al duo Mercedes Hamilton-Rosberg. Una corsa fantastica, caratterizzata da un asfalto viscido su cui Hamilton (partito dalla pit lane), Alonso e lo stesso Ricciardo hanno saputo portare a frutto il proprio funambolismo risalendo posizione su posizione fino a scalzare dal podio il poleman di giornata Nico Rosberg. Felipe Massa chiude la top five, mentre Raikkonen, Vettel, Bottas, Vergne e Button completano l&#39;ordine d&#39;arrivo dei primi dieci.&lt;br /&gt;

Subito spettacolo in pista, con la Toro Rosso di Kvyat bloccata sullo schieramento di partenza a causa di un guasto al motore e con Lewis Hamilton protagonista di un&#39;uscita fuoripista in cui danneggia anche l&#39;ala anteriore della sua vettura. In soli sei giri il britannico riesce però a rimediare alle sventura fin li capitategli, recuperando ben otto posizioni e tallonando come un&#39;ombra la Ferrari di Kimi Raikkonen (partito dal sedicesimo posto e risalito a ridosso della zona punti). Due tornate più tardi Marcus Ericsson perde il controllo della sua Caterham impattando contro le barriere e causando la prima entrata in pista della Safety Car. Ne approfittano i big, rientrando ai box per montare gomme d&#39;asciutto ad eccezione del duo Mclaren (rimasto su gomme intermedie). La squadra di Woking si rende presto conto dell&#39;errore commesso, pagando a caro prezzo l&#39;incidente di Romain Grosjean nel corso dell&#39;undicesimo passaggio.&lt;br /&gt;
Primi grattacapi di giornata per Nico Rosberg, afflitto da problemi di surriscaldamento al sistema frenante della sua Mercedes. La Safety Car torna nella pitlane tre giri più tardi, lasciando ad Hamilton e Alonso il compito di animare la prima parte della gara: i due Campioni non impiegano molto tempo per far saltare dalla gioia i tifosi presenti a bordo pista, producendosi in una serie di sorpassi che li proiettano a ridosso del nuovo leader della gara Daniel Ricciardo. Un doppio incidente estromette le due Force India dalla gara, facendo tornare in scena la vettura di sicurezza nel corso della 23° tornata: Ricciardo, Massa e Bottas rientrano ai box, lasciando il comando della gara ad un sempre più sorprendente Fernando Alonso, impegnato in un&#39;oculata gestione dei propri pneumatici dietro la Safety Car.&lt;br /&gt;
La gara riparte con l&#39;ennesimo colpo di scena: Sebastian Vettel, fino a quel momento autore di una buona gara, va in testacoda sul rettilineo d&#39;arrivo riuscendo però a tenere la vettura in pista. Il Campione del Mondo in carica scivola così al sesto posto, rimanendo intrappolato dietro all&#39;arrembante Mercedes di Lewis Hamilton. La sosta ai box di Alonso regala la leadership al pilota britannico, che dopo solo un giro preferisce effettuare il suo secondo cambio gomme cedendo il primo posto all&#39;australiano Ricciardo. La corsa si infiamma nuovamente nel corso del 51° giro, quando Hamilton decide di ignorare l&#39;ordine di scuderia tenendo dietro il suo compagno di squadra Nico Rosberg, mentre Daniel Ricciardo si trova costretto ad effettuare un ulteriore sosta per montare un treno di gomme fresche. La risalita del pilota Red Bull non si fa attendere, così come quella effettuata dal tedesco Rosberg a partire dal 57° passaggio. Ricciardo recupera velocemente terreno, portandosi a ridosso del duo di testa e iniziando a minacciare la seconda posizione di Hamilton. Il Campione del Mondo 2008 fa quello che può per tenere indietro il giovane australiano, ma nel corso del 67° giro deve abbandonare i suoi sogni di gloria cedendogli la piazza d&#39;onore e la possibilità di duellare per la vittoria con Alonso. Un solo passaggio e Ricciardo si sbarazza anche del pilota spagnolo, portandosi al comando e vanificando un probabile successo per la Scuderia Ferrari. Lo spagnolo resiste comunque alla pressione di Hamilton e Rosberg (arrivato a ridosso dei primi migliorando più volte il giro più veloce della gara) e ottenendo un insperato podio.&lt;br /&gt;
Daniel Ricciardo si aggiudica dunque il Gran Premio d&#39;Ungheria, surclassando il quattro-volte Campione del Mondo Sebastian Vettel e ponendo il suo secondo sigillo nel Mondiale di Formula 1 2014.&lt;br /&gt;

Ciò ha ovviamente indispettito il bi-Campione del Mondo Alonso, consapevole dei problemi di sviluppo della sua F14 T a dispetto dei numerosi aggiornamenti adottati gara dopo gara. Parlando al termine del GP d&#39;Austria, ha così commentato la performance della sua monoposto in pista: &quot;Ero vicinissimo a Felipe nel finale di gara, ma poi è riuscito ad allungare di nuovo. Ho avuto l&#39;opportunità di duellare anche con Hamilton nel corso del primo giro, ma anche lui mi è sfuggito. Buona la prova complessiva del team Williams, capace di inserire entrambe le vetture nella top ten con l&#39;ottavo posto di Valtteri Bottas. Solo undicesimo Kimi Raikkonen, beffato dal francese Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso) per un solo millesimo. Prosegue il periodo negativo delle due Lotus di Grosjean e Maldonado, lontanissime dalla vetta. In qualità di Top Manager della squadra più vincente della storia della massima formula automobilistica, Montezemolo si è lamentato apertamente per le numerose modifiche regolamentari imposte dalla Federazione Internazionale per la stagione 2014 dichiarando: &quot;La Formula 1 attuale non sta funzionando: dovremmo lavorare sulla massima velocità in pista, non sul risparmio dei mezzi. E&#39; necessario proporre nuove idee per tentare di risolvere la situazione al più presto, altrimenti la Scuderia Ferrari potrebbe lasciare questo sport.&quot;&lt;br /&gt;

L&#39;addio alla massima formula automobilistica, come spiegato dallo stesso Montezemolo, non va considerato come &#39;un ultimatum o una minaccia&#39;, ma bensì come uno spunto su cui riflettere per modificare l&#39;attuale politica ecologica di Jean Todt. Il crescente interesse dei colossi dell&#39;automobilismo Mondiale nei confronti della 24 Ore di Le Mans e, più in generale, del Campionato Mondiale Endurance, potrebbe dirottare molti sponsor, piloti e scuderie verso una competizione maggiormente votata alla velocità, seppur sulla lunga durata.&lt;br /&gt;

Anche la Ferrari si è detta molto interessata ad un rinnovato impegno nella celebre corsa francese, desiderosa di misurare le proprie capacità contro Audi, Porsche, Toyota e Nissan. L&#39;incontro ipotizzato dal Presidente della casa automobilistica di Maranello, previsto in occasione del prossimo Gran Premio d&#39;Italia, potrebbe rappresentare la svolta per il futuro della F1.
