All the while trying to cram in as many comic book museums and street art as I could, taking in your beautiful architecture sights, and eating your delectable food. Oh, those waffles...

On our first stop in Paris, we rented an apartment in Canal Saint Martin. Admittedly, I was initially attracted to Canal St Martin because of the classic pebble-skimming scene out of Amelie (a.k.a best movie ever). But it certainly has much to offer. It's a little bit out of the busy touristy areas, which was quite refreshing. It has a relaxing and laid back feel about it, and you see a lot of locals especially during the afternoon sitting by the canal having a picnic, fishing (yes, apparently there's fish in the canal) or walking their dogs.

It has been much too long since I last posted, and no, I haven't given up on the blog - just been a lazy blogger with a sloppy internet connection. I also went on an unforgettable trip to Europe, so I thought I'd share a few snapshots. This was right at the end of the trip, in where else but perfect Paris..

They say when overstimulated, an introvert’s mind can practically shut down. I am feeling that again and again. I make the mistake of taking things personally, and even the smallest comments by friends that are meant to be playful make me hurt instead of laugh. So I try to step away. I am craving a quiet corner to recharge and be kind to myself.

On another note, has anyone done Susannah Conway's Unraveling the Year Ahead workbook? I did this last year, and thought it was a nice way to reflect on the year past (oh goodness, how can 2013 be coming to an end already??) but also think about hopes and intentions for the year ahead. I'm thinking of doing this in my 'quiet corner' time.

Only a couple of days of Frocktober left, and I am starting to miss wearing something other than a dress! Although still being far from my goal, but it has been quite fun doing frocks on film as a creative project of the month.

I just booked flights to Europe!!! First stop: Paris in Spring 2014. I am beyond crazy excited!! I've never been before, and the idea of travelling excites me so much.

If anyone has tips on what to see/do particularly in France, Belgium, and Germany (other countries are welcome too though), or know of any good travel blogs to inspire me, please let me know.

Frocks on Film outtakes, specifically of the ones taken set up indoors in the comfort of my apartment. Taken with my new old Canon AE-1 camera, which is an SLR I'm very very happy with so far!

In case you haven't heard, I'm doing this to participate in Frocktober... which so far I'm falling behind in terms or reaching my goal, but there are still a couple more weeks worth of frocks, and if you'd like to donate (funds go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation), you will make my day.. I mean, month!

I opened my suitcase, and found a roll of undeveloped film from 2 months ago that I had already forgotten about. It's annoying how forgetful I can get!

'frocks on film' outtakes

So the challenge I put on myself is to take 31 film photos of 31 dresses, but to get there I knew it would take a lot more than 31 shots, and definitely more than 1 or 2 film rolls. The perfectionist in me wanted the best shot every time, which doesn't always happen. These are a few of the 'outtakes' so far. The 2nd one was one I really nearly put up, but somehow I leaned towards this one.

Frocks on film was started to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research, via Frocktober. I truly hope you enjoy it. A small donation would be HUGELY appreciated.

I've done it once before, and I'm doing it again. This October, I'll be participating in Frocktober, raising funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. So I'll be wearing a dress every day for the next 31 days.

Not only that, I thought I'd do an additional frock-related project, and combining it with my love for film photography, so I am launching Frocks on Film. Every day, I will add a new film photo of one of my personal frocks. I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing, so I really hope you'll enjoy it.

a minute in September

Eeee!! September is coming to an end already (how did that happen?)! Here's a quick wrap up:
travelling... nothing too big, but a quick weekend travel trip to Sydney this month was so much fun.
watching... Gavin & Stacey on DVD
reading... Offscreen magazine
missing... one of my closest friends who just moved away.
feeling... nostalgic
preparing... for next month's Frocktober! A bit nervous, but excited. I can't wait to share with you what I'll be doing - more to come tomorrow.

old camera, old film, new scenes

I recently acquired an old Canon AE-1 camera from a vintage bazaar. It still had film inside it, no idea how long it's been there, but I managed to get a few shots out of it. Not great shots, but at least I know it works! I've since got a new lens for the camera, and expect to play with it more!

The museum is a fascinating art gallery, showcasing the art of late Indonesian painter, Affandi. I had known about the place since I was little, but had only set foot inside recently.

And despite the sign in that last photo, it was actually allowed to take these photographs! (no touching though!)

little black dress day

Little black dress day is this Friday, 6th September. This initiative aims to raise funds for the

"Fitted for Work" organisation, who work in empowering women into employment.

I think this is a fab idea, and yes, I will be wearing one of my LBDs this Friday. Perhaps you would like to too?
