Myntra to change it's logo

2021-01-30T20:44:00.002+05:30

The E-commerce website Myntra has decided to change its logo after it ran into a controversy. According to a report by India Today, the company decided the so after a complaint was lodged with the police against the logo terming it as offensive for women.

In December last year, one Naaz Patel associated with an NGO called Avesta Foundation had lodged a complaint with the Mumbai Cyber police alleging the Myntra logo to be ‘insulting’ and ‘offensive’ towards women. Naaz Patel had also taken to various social media sites to voice her dissent against the company’s logo. The NGO had also termed the logo as ‘abusive’.

"Offensive Logo" Of Myntra

The report has quoted DCP Rashmi Karandikar, Cyber Crime Department of Mumbai police as saying: “We found that the logo was offensive in nature for women. Following the complaint, we sent an email to Myntra and their officials came and met us. The officials said they will change the logo in a month’s time.”

Patel had demanded the removal of the logo by the Flipkart-owned e-commerce company and appropriate action against the firm.

Meanwhile, Myntra has in an email sent to Cyber police, reportedly confirmed that it will not only be revising its logo on their website, but it will also be doing the same for its app and for all the packaging material as well.

Racism in cricket

2021-01-09T23:09:00.002+05:30

Two Indian cricketers Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were racially taunted on Day 3 of the SCG Test and with this instance the game of cricket was once again spoiled by Racism.

This isn't the first time that racism is been in news. And it also seems that it became a counter strategy to cope up when a match is slipping through hands.

Ban of three test match was imposed on Harbhajan singh for calling Australian All rounder Andre Symmonds a monkey in 2008. The Aussies felt it was racial as Symmonds belonged to a different ethnic origin. Later India protested the decision vehemently in a much-publicised hearing. The offie was penalised 50 percent of his match fees but went onto play for India in the aftermath of the incident.

In an another incident England spinning all-rounder Moeen Ali was called 'Osama' by an unknown Australian cricketer during 2015 Ashes. Some of his colleagues were so enraged that they wanted to report the incident but they stopped short on Ali's insistence. Although the incident happened in 2015, Ali revealed this in his book three years later.

In 2019, England's latest pace sensation was targeted on the final day of the first Test against New Zealand-- a country which is considered so peaceful that its cricket team would win the best-behaved award every year. But that's what Archer thought and realized how wrong he was until the spectator was banned from all domestic and international fixtures in New Zealand until 2022.

As the patron of SAD he exercises a strong influence on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The Government of India awarded him the second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, in 2015.

The Indian farm reforms in 2020 refer to three agricultural bills passed by Indian Parliament in September 2020. The bills collectively seek to provide farmers with multiple marketing channels and provide a legal framework for farmers to enter into pre-arranged contracts among other things. The bills are the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill. On 27 September 2020, they received approval from the President Ram Nath Kovind and became acts.

Protests against the acts picked up in November 2020. Farmers from the states of Punjab and Haryana have been the forefront of the protests. Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal has written to the President that he wishes to return his Padma Vibhushan award, to protest against the new farm laws.

Man arrested after liking his poster on Facebook

2015-05-06T13:07:00.001+05:30

In a bizarre case, a 23-year-old man in the US was arrested after he liked his own "most wanted" poster on a Facebook page.

Levi Charles Reardon from Montana was arrested after he liked his photo on the Cascade County Crimestoppers Facebook page.

Reardon was arrested without incident on felony charges of forgery in which he is suspected of stealing a wallet and personal cheques, Great Falls Tribune newspaper reported.

The Crimestoppers Facebook page took a screenshot showing Reardon liked his own photo on the Great Falls/Cascade County social media page.

Reardon's name appears under his own "most wanted" mugshot showing that "Levi Charles Reardon likes this" -- a move the Crimestoppers page noticed and circled for the page's other visitors to see.

Reardon made an initial court appearance last week on a USD 2,500 warrant. His arraignment is scheduled for May 7.

According to court records, Reardon is a suspect in a case involving the theft of a wallet and personal cheques last January.

The report says four of the missing cheques were cashed, allegedly by Reardon.

Documents says one of the cheques was cashed at a grocery store after a law enforcement officer contacted Reardon about the missing wallet and that cheques made out to him were reported as fraudulent.
