And BAM, you’re stung by a negative comment, a judgmental friend or a rude stranger. Welcome to the hater zone!

Haters seem to spring up when we try to do a great job. A critic of your parenting skills, your relationship status (or lack thereof), how you dress, where you live or your weight. At the end of all the haters’ catcalls is an invitation to low self-esteem and self-loathing-ville.

Haters can affect us in two ways. They may creep out and attack us for things we're doing or sharing. Or the idea of them can prevent us from moving forward and expressing our true selves. Both are detrimental to our spirit.

Many of my life coaching clients express their fear of moving forward because of what haters might say or do. If they publish the book, or leave the job in corporate, what will those around them think?

Ask yourself if you're actually allowing what people could say to stop you from following your own heart. Recognize that haters can’t get to us when we feel confident and self-assured. The best way to avoid feeling victimized by the string of negativity is to improve your relationship with yourself.

Here are powerful reminders from my book, Find Your Happy, that can help you gain confidence and feel secure.

10 Mantras To Build Self-Confidence

1. Confidence comes through action.

2. The only approval you need is your own.

3. The fastest way to improve self-confidence is to do the exact thing you fear.

4. Accept everything you are — and aren’t. That is true happiness.

5. At the end of the day, what matters most is how you see yourself.

6. What others say is a reflection of them, not you.

7. You are good enough.

8. It isn't who you are that holds you back; it's who you think you aren't.

9. No one can make you feel unworthy without your permission.

10. There is only one you for all time. Fearlessly be your true self. You matter.

To create your own list for happiness grab this free guide.

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

Jennifer Lopez Goes Vegan!

Remember when Jay-Z and Beyonce decided to go vegan for 22 days? Well, Jennifer Lopez has taken the vegan challenge to the next level, announcing she'll be adhering to a vegan diet — indefinitely.

The Gigli star told New York radio station Z100 that she's giving up all animal products, and hasn't set a timetable on when she'll return to her omnivore ways.

But does Jenny from the Block think others can reap the rewards of going vegan? Lopez says, "I do recommend the vegan diet because you wake up and feel great!" Soulmates exist in various types of relationships. However, for the purpose of this article, the term soulmate exclusively refers to the relationship between lovers. Some have found these sacred relationships while others anxiously wait. Rather than searching, why not create fertile ground for the experience of such a union? These five practices can set the stage to invite the love of your life or deepen an existing partnership.

1. Own past choices.

Past relationships cannot be viewed as something that happened to you. To take this stance is to remove the important power of choice.

To own the part we have played in our circumstances is to be able to transcend them. We don’t always directly create our situations, but we do decide on how to participate within them. To think otherwise is to always be a victim of what comes to you. To be accountable empowers you to shape a loving interaction of a higher dimension.

2. Show appreciation.

It’s so easy to take the little things for granted in everyday life. Make it a habit to express appreciation wherever appropriate. Silently giving gratitude is a great practice but don’t forget the impact of openly telling people when you are appreciative of their presence or efforts.

To affirm the great people and things around you is to attract more of it to you. A soulmate may intuitively know how much they mean to you, but verbal confirmation is always welcome. It’s not rocket science.

3. Practice vulnerability.

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." — Rumi

Intimate relationships are an ongoing practice in vulnerability. It is the relinquishing of each person’s armor that allows for genuine connection. A healthy relationship creates the safe space to let down defenses; however, vulnerability is something that can be practiced outside of these situations.

Vulnerability is always challenging. Start dropping your shield in trivial situations so when it really matters, you’ll be less uncomfortable.

4. Forgive.

It’s incredibly important to do the work of forgiving. Every relationship, intimate or otherwise, leaves an imprint of energy that is carried forward. Unresolved issues tend to play out in subsequent relationships, therefore it’s important to have closure.

Note that closure is not something that is often neatly obtained from the other party. Instead, it's something you grant yourself through the act of forgiveness. Release the energy of disappointment by finding the value of the lessons learned. Forgive them, forgive yourself, and move ahead unencumbered.

5. Love yourself.

Treat yourself with all the kindness you deserve. Know what feels good to so you set a standard. When you are sure of your own self-worth, you won’t have a need to make your partner responsible for it. You will be aware of what works for you and what doesn’t and as a result will not compromise your own essence.

Working on these five characteristics may help attract or strengthen a soulmate experience. More importantly, these skills help to build a stronger individual who thrives inside or outside of a relationship. You are at an advantage by attending to your own soul before intertwining with another's.

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

Lab Notes: Airport Noise Linked to Midriff Spread; FDA Warns on Aspirin to Prevent Heart Attacks

1. Airport Noise Linked to Midriff Spread

To the seemingly endless list of things that can contribute to weight gain, you can now add: living near an airport, which Swedish researchers have concluded can, over time, add 2.5 inches to a person’s waistline all by itself.

2. FDA Warns on Aspirin to Prevent Heart Attacks

If you’re taking aspirin to ward off heart attacks, the FDA is warning you to consult with your doctor because of possible side effects.

3. Coke, Pepsi to Drop Controversial Chemical

Coca-Cola will remove BVO, a chemical used as a flame retardant, from its drinks by the end of the year.

4. Electronic Media Causing Myopia Epidemic?

Are computers, social media and video games making us all nearsighted? Of course, if you happen to be one of those chip-shouldered types yourself, you may want to speed up any long-term plans you’ve made. According to research reported in the latest Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, people who chronically bicker with family members, friends, or even neighbors have an ugly tendency to not make it past middle age.

The nuts and bolts: 10,000 volunteers in the 36–52 age range, a hefty sample population, were questioned as to how frequently they “experienced conflict” with relatives, partners, neighbors or associates, and to what degree they worried about their relationships, or felt others made too many demands on them. Then the researchers waited for eleven years. Then they looked at the subjects’ subsequent health records. They found that the habitual arguers were fully two to three times more likely to have already died than were their even-tempered, go-along peers.

Mind you, we’ve learned through previous studies that excessive arguing can put a strain on your health; we just didn’t realize it had such a tendency to be a fatal strain. That new knowledge suggests a fairly convincing reason to curtail your beefing: if you don’t, you could triple your chances of not lasting another full decade.

We also knew that members of argumentative families tended to have more health problems – in one vaguely macabre study, researchers made cuts in the arms of married couples and instructed them to then either argue or chat cordially; the arguers took measurably longer to heal – but the Danish group was surprised that the death effect applied even to those who mainly argued not with family members but with outsiders. Another thing that surprised them was an increased death rate among subjects who tended to frequently worry about or feel put upon by their children or partners – but not by others, family or otherwise.

Your personality is to blame

Nobody seems to think that it’s the act of arguing that proves prematurely fatal, but rather that both the poor health and the argumentativeness spring from some underlying personality factor. It’s been well established that hostility is associated with heart disease and early death from heart attack, for example; but arguing, which is basically just putting hostility into action, seems to elevate the effect and bring a number of other serious health risks into play: the leading cause of death in the study was cancer, followed in turn by heart disease and stroke, liver disease, accidents, and suicide. Exactly how each of these outcomes might be associated with arguing is a study it itself: are belligerent types also heavy drinkers (liver disease) or projecting self-hatred onto others (suicide)?

What the Danish researchers can say is that the link between interpersonal conflict and early demise held up even when they controlled for everything from sex and income to symptoms of depression. So it seems only prudent to heed the conclusion of the study’s lead author: “It would be a good idea to reduce the amount of conflict in your life.”

Or in blunter terms: Stay cool, stay composed, and stay alive.

(By Robert S. Well, good news: finding a sense of purpose may be just the magical elixir you need!

New research, published last week in Psychological Science, suggests that having a greater sense of purpose may lead to a longer life, regardless of how old you are. The findings were based on a study of over 6,000 participants who were tracked during a 14-year period. Researchers found that the correlation between having a purpose and living longer held true for younger, middle-aged and older study participants, alike.

As researcher Patrick Hill told the Association For Psychological Science, “Our findings point to the fact that finding a direction for life, and setting overarching goals for what you want to achieve can help you actually live longer, regardless of when you find your purpose.”

Interestingly, the benefits seemed to exist regardless of other factors in one's life, including psychological wellbeing.

The researchers theorized that having a sense of purpose might lead people to adopt healthier lifestyles, accounting for the increased longevity.

Does this inspire you to start looking for your purpose? He grew up in Vancouver with his mom, his dad died flying a plane in the Royal Air Force during World War II. In the 1950s, my dad was a student at the University of British Columbia. He got his PhD at MIT, in a field of theoretical mathematics he picked "because my advisor said it was impossible."

He worked as an engineer for Boeing, Bell Labs, Digital, and Motorola. I remember a little plastic display case, sitting off to the side on his desk, with a computer chip suspended inside. It was my dad's patent on a chip that routed traffic through packet switches on phone lines. The technology is still used for the Internet today. So yes, my dad was kind of nerdy, with thick glasses, pencil cases, and plaid shirts. He was also a pretty smart guy, who told some good stories.

One story I remember is from when he was at the University of British Columbia. One night he was with his church group, at a bar often visited by traveling bands. That night, Johnny Cash was playing, back when he was just getting started. My dad said it was a pretty good time.

Afterward, Johnny walked around visiting the different tables, saying hi and thanks. When he made it to my dad's table, he took a seat and said, "Well what did you think?"

My dad said, "I like the music. But I'm not really sure about this whole black thing."

Johnny kept the clothes. My dad kept listening.

Another story I remember was from the first time my dad had cancer. He was in his 30s, and it was before I was born. He was in for surgery. His heart stopped. His breathing stopped. He died.

He recalled floating above the table, watching the doctors. "Mr. Taylor! Mr Taylor! You have to breathe!"

They didn't look too calm, but he felt fine. Peaceful, just watching everything. "Then I remembered your mother," he told me. "I thought, I shouldn't leave now. I should go back." He was breathing again. He was alive. And he stayed with my mom until he died about seven years ago.

This last time my dad got cancer, I was really lucky. Lucky to have so much time with him. We talked about everything. He told his Johnny Cash story again. He talked about finding peace in his life, and about carrying it with him when he died. My dad had beaten cancer four times. Each time after the first, he said he was always fine. Whatever was going on in his life, he was always fine.

My dad knew things would be OK. It was one of the greatest things about him, how calm and easygoing he was, always. It didn't worry him so much if I didn't have a job, and was running off to climb mountains in India. He knew I'd meet someone in base camp, and create a whole new company out of it. I did.

It didn't worry him so much working crazy hours, raising a family, losing my sister, losing my brother to cancer. He knew we all have these things in our lives. Sad things. Stressful things. He knew things can just be difficult, sometimes, even a lot of times. In the middle of it, he never managed to figure out why I can't throw a football. For some reason, this MIT guy could throw a perfect spiral, every time. But he was there to build some darn good model airplanes with me.

And he just wasn't worried. "I was there," he said. "I died. If that's what it's like, then it's OK. I don't mind that. If that's OK, then everything else is going to be OK, too." He said he spent the rest of his life, after that time, always knowing this. He said it made everything a whole lot better, because he never forgot it.

Maybe if the worst thing there is, is fine, we can go about the rest a little better. Maybe we can let the hard things be easier. And the happy things be happier.

Let's work on this one together! Even when something doesn't feel good, or a few things — or 10 things! — don't feel good, there are still millions of things in you that feel good. It's hard to find them when you're sad, when something hurts, or there's just so much stress. But those millions of things in you are always there. Let's find them.

Here's a video to get us started.

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

New Study Says Finding Your Purpose Leads To A Longer Life

Want to live a long and healthy life?

A 12-Point Guide To Attract The Partner Of Your Dreams

It's spring here in the Northern hemisphere and love is in the air. I have several clients who are single and almost all of them are in the beginning of the dating process with promising partners.

What's interesting is that almost all of them also wrote out their vision list before they jumped back into the dating scene. A vision list is a document where you enumerate the essential qualities that you want in a future partner. The principle behind it is that the more clear you are about what you want, the more likely it is that you will manifest it.

For the sake of clarity, it can be helpful to organize your vision into categories. Over the years, I've honed the categories into 12 sections, which I will share with you below. Before you write your list, keep in mind the following pointers:

A well-matched partner won't meet all of your needs. As there's no such thing as a perfect partner, you're shooting for about 85%. This means that you may meet someone who ticks all the boxes except physically he's not quite what you imagined. That's OK. As a product of this culture, you probably have a warped definition of attraction that could use some redefining anyway. Likewise, she may not be as socially adept as you had imagined. My point is that these aren't dealbreakers, so while you're creating your vision list, it's absolutely essential to know that your future partner won't meet all of your desires and that you'll have to sacrifice somewhere.

Writing down your list facilitates the manifestation process as it takes the floating concepts in your mind and solidifies them onto paper.

Write in the affirmative. According the Law of Attraction, the universe responds to clear and positive communication about what we do want as opposed to negative and fuzzy messages about what we don't want.

Be as detailed as possible.

Dream big. Allow your dream to expand as big as your imagination and life will meet you there.

Most importantly, have fun with it. Allow your longing to translate into a feeling of joy as you imagine yourself into a loving, well-matched partnership:

Here are the 12 categories to focus on for your vision list. Some of the categories may be redundant when you flesh them out. That's OK; the world of manifestation doesn't mind redundancy. Feel free to add more categories of your own, of course:

1. Values

This includes having children, how you spend your time, what religion you practice if any, work ethic, approach to health (nutrition and exercise), and whether or not you're OK with drugs/alcohol/cigarettes.

2. Emotional availability & connection

Is he/she available and fully willing to commit? How does he or she demonstrate this readiness? Is she or he willing to be vulnerable? What's the connection like when you're both open to each other?

3. Sexuality

What are your needs? Be specific. Be poetic. Be brave.

4. Physical attributes

In your ideal world ...

5. Intellect

How important is traditional, left-brained intellect to you? Do you want your partner to be a reader? A searcher? An explorer of the world of ideas?

6. How he/she feels about me.

Do you want respect? Adoration? Trust?

7. How I feel about him/her

Be careful here: the culture says that you must feel wildly in love and attracted otherwise it means you're with the wrong person. An essential component of creating a healthy foundation on which to begin a relationship is making sure that your expectations about love, romance, and attraction are in alignment with reality, not fantasy.

8. Finances

Based on who you are, what you saw growing up, and your experiences with past relationships, be detailed about this aspect of your future partner.

9. Personality

Paint your vision in terms of extroversion/introversion, sense of humor, play, kindness, generosity.

10. Family and friends

What kind of a connection to his family of origin and friends do you hope to see in your future partner?

11. Lifestyle/Interests

Keeping in mind that having different interests is NOT a dealbreaker, which interests would you most like to share with a future partner? Do you hope your partner has a love of travel? Theater? Hiking? Watching movies? Swimming? Someone who has passions and hobbies? What about his or her relationship to creativity?

12. Spirituality

This may or not be important to you, depending on how much spirituality plays a part in your own life.

There is real power in a vision list, especially when you write it from a place of joy. You may be amazed when, a year from now, you pull out the list and realize that the person sitting across from you does, indeed, embody nearly all of the essential qualities that you write about today.

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

What I Learned From My Dad About Dying & Living Happy

My dad liked to tell stories.

Here's some guidance on finding your calling. They’re one of the most efficient, functional exercises you can do.

So how do you actually do a burpee?

There are several different types of burpees — some include a plank, others have a full push up, a tuck jump or even a pull up at the end. Since the HIIT workouts I do tend to focus mainly on speed and conditioning (rather than worrying about doing a full push up every rep), here's how to do my favorite type and go-to burpee:

Stand straight, then lower into a squat position with your hands on the floor in front of you.

Kick your feet back into a push-up position and immediately drop your chest to the floor.

Bow your chest up as you return your feet back to the squat position as fast as possible.

Jump up into the air as high as you can.

Add a little clap for pizazz!

Sound tough? They are — but they’re worth it for all the awesome benefits they offer. Here are 5 reasons why you should love burpees:

1. They work your entire body.
Unlike isolation exercises like biceps curls and triceps kickbacks, burpees are a full body exercise. That means you’ll work pretty much every muscle in your body while doing them, so you’ll actually burn more calories in less time when you do burpees.

Do them quickly with intensity and you’ll get an even bigger calorie burning effect that will last all day long.

2. You can do them anywhere.

Since burpees require nothing more than your own body to do them, you can seriously do them anywhere. It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling, if you don’t have access to a gym, or if you’re working out outdoors — you can still do burpees!

Body weight exercises like burpees are awesome because they give you no excuse not to work out.

3. They’ll get you stronger.

Burpees are the ultimate example of functional fitness, meaning they'll not only help you meet your weight loss and fitness goals, they'll also help you perform better during everyday activities like carrying groceries, lifting a suitcase over your head in an airplane or playing with your kid at the playground.

With every rep, you’ll work your arms, chest, quads, glutes, hamstrings, and core muscles. After a few sets of burpees, your legs will feel a bit like lead, your arms will shake and you’ll feel your muscles getting stronger.

4. They boost your endurance (no treadmill necessary).

Want to get fit in a hurry? Whether your goal is to train for a race, try a new sport, get in shape for spring hiking season or just to look good, burpees will get you there, fast.

In fact, burpees are one of the best exercises EVER to boost your conditioning and endurance for sports and other activities. Even just 10 burpees in a row will make your heart pound and your breath get quicker. Do them consistently and watch as your conditioning level skyrockets!

5. They’re a great addition to any workout

Burpees are a dynamic, fast-paced, never-boring exercise, and a perfect addition to any workout, whether you’re doing a HIIT-style workout or need a quick tabata workout any time of the day.

Try doing the 100 burpee challenge for the ultimate burpee workout.

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

Easter Delight: This Carrot Cake Smoothie Will Blow Your Mind!

Want to have your Easter cake and eat it too?

Well now you can, with this healthy carrot cake smoothie that tastes just like the real thing without the added calories and sugar! This stretch of coastline is one of the best things about Orange County, California, a place so conservative and corporate-friendly that voters here rejected a GMO labeling initiative by a two-to-one margin.

In the past year, however, we’ve seen something strange on the beach along with the starfish, anemones and shorebirds: dying bees. Sometimes there are none. Other times they’re present by the dozens, wriggling in circles in the wet sand at the water’s edge like drunken, disoriented little aviators. Eventually, they get tired and simply expire. You can pick them up, barely alive, and move them inland to a safe place, but it makes no difference. They’re fatally lost, they can’t find their hive, and they’ll be dead in a few hours.

“Colony Collapse Disorder” (CCD) refers to the mysterious disappearance of millions of US honeybees over the past half-century — and at an alarmingly accelerated rate since 2006. I don’t know for certain whether dying bees at the shore are casualties of CCD, and the academics I asked didn’t know either. But it sure seems likely, especially since CCD is such a generalized concept that almost anything might fit the category. Which brings me to the main point of this article: the evidence shows that CCD is yet another unfortunate, costly result of Americans’ extraordinarily high consumption of meat and dairy.

In my book Meatonomics, I show that our nation’s obsession with animal foods — leading us to consume more meat per capita than any other country on the planet — costs us more than $400 billion yearly in hidden, or externalized, costs. The expenses related to these bee die-offs are also significant, which is why the agriculture industry and the US Department of Agriculture take CCD seriously and are devoting resources to addressing it.

One-third of the food we eat depends on honeybee pollination — giving those pollination services an estimated value of $215 billion worldwide. In 2008, there were just 2.4 million honeybee colonies in the United States, down from 5.9 million in 1945. These massive colony losses have already raised honey costs and beehive rental costs, hurt some beekeepers’ incomes, put others out of business, and threatened to disrupt the production of crops worth $15 billion.

Let’s consider how bees are dying, then look at why meat and dairy are to blame. One leading explanation for CCD is that the prevalent use of pesticides on crops is killing the little pollinators. When exposed to toxins, bees become disoriented and die within 24 hours. The bee deaths at the beach, of course, fit this pattern like a honeycomb fits a hive.

Another theory for the bees’ disappearance is that with vast amounts of US cropland now dedicated to monocrops like corn and soybeans, foraging bees cannot find sufficient nutritional or seasonal variety to meet their needs. Moreover, bees get important immune-boosting benefits from consuming a variety of pollen types, and when they consume only one type, these benefits are diminished.

A final hypothesis says that bees are dying because the pollen of GMO plants is altering the DNA of bees or of bacteria that live in bees’ guts. One researcher who studied this phenomenon found that genetic material transferred to bees from GMO corn may have “altered the surface of the bee's intestines, sufficiently weakening the bees to allow parasites to gain entry.”

Of course, it could even be a combination of all three of these factors. After all, bees evolved to consume healthy pollen from a variety of natural plants, not toxic pollen from pesticide-soaked, genetically modified monocrops. So the triple-whammy theory makes sense, too.

It seems indisputable that CCD is a consequence of industrial agriculture, but what does this have to do with meat and dairy? That’s easy: most of the crops we grow in this country are fed to livestock. Thus, the top three US crops are corn, soybeans, and hay. Farm animals eat 70 percent of the soybeans, 80 percent of the corn, and virtually all of the hay. Moreover, 94% of US soy is GMO, as is 88% of US corn.

Thus, the picture that emerges is this: most US cropland is dedicated to GMO monocrops being raised to feed livestock. And the research shows that it's precisely these crops that are killing bees. So it is fair to conclude that animal agriculture is largely responsible for the massive bee declines associated with CCD.

What can we do about it? For starters, we can consume less meat and dairy and eat more organic fruits and vegetables. This switch alone would go a long way toward helping restore the natural and variegated sources of healthy pollen that bees need. I propose some other solutions to this and other problems of animal agriculture in my book — so for more details, please check out Meatonomics.

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

Schwinn pillow top Cruiser bicycle seat

Missing or damaged files

If you need a 404 error to inform you, that you want to use in your browser the URL.This tells the server what resource it is attempting to apply for.

http://example.com/example/example/help.html

In this example the file must be in the Public_html/example/example /.

Keep in mind that it is important to the case in this example. It has been quite some time since I’ve eaten a milk chocolate easter egg as these days, my preference is to eat raw chocolate, otherwise known as cacao. Not only is raw chocolate guilt-free, it's actually good for you!

Raw chocolate is created by cold-pressing the cacao bean, separating the oil from the protein and fibre. The temperature is kept at 120 degrees Fahrenheit or below in order to maintain the amazing enzyme and nutrient content. Gradually the pure liquid cacao butter is drained off and the remaining residue is then cold-ground, fine milled and sifted so that only the finest, most bio-available raw cacao particles are used in the final product.

Cacao contains potent antioxidants that destroy free radicals and is thought to improve heart function, promote general health and can potentially lower the risk of developing disease. Theobromine, naturally found in cacao is a mild, non-addictive stimulant that may prevent depression.

So this Easter, why not swap your sugary shop-bought egg for a vegan guilt-free raw chocolate vanilla cream egg?

Ingredients

Chocolate

1 cup melted cacao butter

3/4 cup cacao powder

1/3 cup maple syrup

pinch Pink Himalayan salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Vanilla cream

1.5 cup cashew nuts

2/3 cup water

3 tablespoons maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder

pinch Pink Himalayan salt

Preparation

You'll need a plastic or silicone mold in the shape of half an egg.

If your blender struggles with nuts, soak them in water for at least an hour before using.

Melt the cacao butter in a bain marie using a glass bowl for the top container. Once melted, remove from the heat, add the cacao powder, salt, vanilla and maple syrup stirring to combine into a smooth mixture. Into your mold, pour a small amount of chocolate while tipping the mold to the left and right to ensure the sides are coated with chocolate. It will only be a thin layer for now. Place in the freezer to set for 15 to 20 minutes.

Drain the cashew nuts and rinse with clean water if soaking. Place in a high-speed blender with the salt, water, syrup and vanilla. Combine well.

Once the chocolate in the mold has set, remove it from the freezer and spoon the vanilla cream into the middle of the egg. Pour over the remaining chocolate filling to the top of the mould. (If leaving the egg in the freezer for longer, you may need to gently warm the chocolate again to make it runny and smooth as it was before.) Place in the freezer to set for at least 1 ½ hours.

Remove from the freezer and devour.

Enjoy and Happy Easter!

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy

Food of the week: cauliflower

[retrieve any full-text content]

Our food of the week enjoyed cauliflower is cooked or raw, cauliflower is a great addition for your healthiest way of eating. Stuffing:

Bring 3-1/2 cups of lightly salted water to a boil. While water is coming to a boil, rinse the wild rice under running water in a strainer. When water is boiling add both wild and brown rice, cover, turn heat to low and cook for about 45 minutes, until tender. Do not overcook. You will most likely have excess water when rice is cooked properly. Put cooked rice in a strainer and drain out excess water. Set aside in a large enough bowl to mix everything together.

Heat 1 TBS chicken broth in a large stainless steel skillet. Healthy Sauté onion in broth over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and celery and continue to sauté for another 2-3 minutes.

Mix all the stuffing ingredients together in bowl and season with salt and pepper.Always stuff the turkey just before roasting—never ahead of time—to avoid the growth of harmful bacteria. Have the stuffing hot and pack it loosely in the body cavity.

Turkey:

Rinse turkey well inside and out. Pat dry. (If you had to buy a frozen turkey, make sure it is completely thawed.)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and put the oven rack on the bottom shelf. Right before roasting the turkey, stuff it loosely with the stuffing.

Cut about 48 inches of heavy kitchen twine. Truss the turkey by first binding the legs together with the center of the length of twine. Run the twine along the sides of the turkey toward the neck tightly holding the wings to its sides with the twine. Cross the twine around the neck end of the bird and back to the legs. Loop around legs and tie a knot. Rub the turkey with a little salt and pepper.

Place turkey breast side down on a flat or V-shaped rack in roasting pan. Make sure you use a rack inside the roasting pan. Otherwise the skin may stick to the pan and tear. Add a cup of chicken broth to the bottom of the pan. Roast breast side down, basting about every 30 minutes with the pan juices for about 2-1/2 hours for a 12-15 lb turkey.

Bring turkey to the top of the stove, turn it to its back and remove the trussing twine. This will now allow the inside of the legs to brown along with the rest of the turkey. Baste again, and return to the oven. But first, check the breast for doneness by inserting an instant reading thermometer at the thickest part of the breast toward the neck. This will give you an idea how much longer the turkey will need to cook. It should read about 125°F (52°C) at this point. When the thermometer reads between 1657°F and 170°F (74-77°C) in the thickest part of the thigh the turkey is perfectly done. Check the stuffing by inserting the thermometer into the center of the cavity. The stuffing should read 165°F (74°C) to be done. If it has not reached this temperature, you will have to remove it from the turkey and finish cooking it in a baking pan on its own. It’s important the stuffing reaches this temperature to be safe to eat. Check the thighs for doneness. Remove your turkey to a platter, but don’t carve it for at least 20 minutes.

Gravy:

Simmer all the ingredients except oat flour, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper for about 1 hour on medium heat.

Strain and discard solids. Heat 1/4 cup broth in a stainless steel skillet. Whisk in flour a little at a time to incorporate. Using a wire whisk, add the rest of the broth a little at a time on low heat. Keep whisking to avoid lumps until all the liquid is incorporated.

Add rosemary and cook for another 20 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally. Season with chopped thyme, salt, and pepper.

Nutrients in
Holiday Turkey with Rice Stuffing & Herbed Gravy
1.00 serving (308.02 grams)

Nutrient%Daily Value

selenium199.6%

vitamin A162.1%

vitamin B12148.3%

tryptophan87.5%

manganese86%

protein53%

vitamin B244.7%

vitamin B340.7%

phosphorus40.2%

folate37.3%

vitamin K34.7%

zinc32.6%

iron30.7%

vitamin B629.5%

copper28.9%

vitamin B527.9%

potassium26.6%

magnesium25.6%

Calories (540)30%

Introduction to Recipe Rating System Chart

In order to better help you identify recipes that feature a high concentration of nutrients for the calories they contain, we created a Recipe Rating System. This system allows us to highlight the recipes that are especially rich in particular nutrients. The following chart shows the nutrients for which Holiday Turkey with Rice Stuffing & Gravy with Fresh Herbs is either an excellent, very good, or good source (below the chart you will find a table that explains these qualifications). If a nutrient is not listed in the chart, it does not necessarily mean that the recipe doesn’t contain it. It simply means that the nutrient is not provided in a sufficient amount or concentration to meet our rating criteria. (To view this recipe’s in-depth nutritional profile that includes values for dozens of nutrients – not just the ones rated as excellent, very good, or good – please use the link below the chart.) To read this chart accurately, you’ll need to glance back up to see the ingredients used in the recipe and the number of serving sizes provided by the recipe. Our nutrient ratings are based on a single serving. For example, if a recipe makes 4 servings, you would be receiving the nutrient amounts listed in the chart by eating 1/4th of the combined ingredients found in the recipe. Now, returning to the chart itself, you can look next to the nutrient name in order to find the nutrient amount it offers, the percent Daily Value (DV%) that this amount represents, the nutrient density that we calculated for this recipe and nutrient, and the rating we established in our rating system. For most of our nutrient ratings, we adopted the government standards for food labeling that are found in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s “Reference Values for Nutrition Labeling.” <a inspiring and awesome model I recently had the honor of working with in my studio in Santa Monica, California. His name is Tom Valencia, and he was kind enough to share his story with my friend, the life coach and consultant Karen Mozes. Karen writes:

"In November of 2012, Tom was in a yoga class and he felt an unusual tightness on his chest followed by pain and numbness of his left leg. Rushed to a nearby hospital, Tom was subjected to multiple surgeries addressing the condition, an aortic type dissection, and its many rippled effects, which included partial kidney and lung failure, the left lower extremity ischemia, and the eventual amputation of his left leg."

All I could hear in my head when we were working together was, This is what a beautiful model looks like.

Tom recently completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and says, "I did not survive all of this to go back to being who I was before, or doing what I did before."

Start Slideshow »

Powered By WizardRSS.com | Full Text RSS Feed | Amazon Wordpress | rfid blocking wallet sleeves

View the original article here

http://feeds.feedburner.com/LifestyleBestHealthyAndWealthy
