For the month of March... It is Colon Cancer Awareness. Blue is the color for colon cancer. I am one gal who has a computer and social media to get out the word to help save the lives of grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers, sister, fathers and mothers regarding colon cancer. Colon cancer is the 2^nd cause of deaths when it comes to cancer in America according to one article. My father, Dan Rodriguez was a victim to colon cancer. He was survivor of colon cancer for 4 years with surgery and help of herbal pills. Then the cancer came back 2^nd time this August 2011. My dad was admitted to the hospital, the doctor told the family the tumor that was discovered in his chest is the same cancer that metastasized from the colon cancer. My dad passed away in hospice care. I held my dad's hand every night to know that he would passed away. I was there from the beginning of his fight for cancer and I was there at the end gave my dad water to drink before he passed away on September 14, 2011. For many months, I have cried without hearing the voice of my father. I remembered the places, the conversation, the places we went out to eat, the shows we watch but nothing could bring back my father. I read the words that my father wrote about the Lord to give me a vision of what I am suppose to do. It occurred to me that I have to reach out to the community every month of March to teach about colon cancer, in social media, in my writings, in my community, at my job and speaking with my family. I cannot go on with my life without help saving someone's life from this colon cancer disease. I have a voice and the research to speak about this terrible disease. 5 years ago, my family did not hear about colon cancer until my father was diagnosed. My dad dealt with the disease and he was healed for 4 years until 2011. While my father was healed from cancer my dad reached out to the community of those who were dealt with any cancer. He spoke to many individuals in person, on the phone, or on the web. My dad wrote his story on butt-check.org about this story about colon cancer. Check out his story here. I will continued his legacy to reach to others to teach other who are dealing with cancer. My mom said it well in statement she told me once, "Cancer does not discriminate in any age, color, race, religion." Cancer is silent killer but it is up to us to do what we can while we are placed on this earth. I feel like the Lord has placed me here for a reason. I want to help those who are in need when I can. I can't be silent and shut my month to watch others die from this disease.

As, I walked into the store one late night in the Dillard’s store looking for jeans on sale, I met a new friend. This sales lady is student, a mother of a teenager and works full time at Dillard's. We both talked about fashion. The sales lady told me what jeans were on sale and where the jeans were located. We started to talk about jeans. The sales lady asked me where did I get my jeans I told her in China. She liked the appearance of the jeans and how it was made. I told her fashion should not be expensive. 30 something gals should not be afraid to wear junior clothes. I gave her advice to look into skinny colored jeans for this spring season for her daughter and for herself. She looked at me for saying skinny colored jeans for her. Yes. Why not? What do you think? Getting older is mind set but why not going into Forever 21 store at 30 years old. Wearing Forever 21 clothes to work is questionable but on your off time you can wear whatever you want. If the clothes is modesty looking then go for it! A gal is forever young at any age, how many kids she has or what her appearance. Don't make yourself old looking by saying I can't wear it anymore or it is not for me. I say take a risk and who cares what others say about your style. As long as you feel good about your appearance. While I was in Bible school many years ago, I told 60 something lady that I liked her outfit. I told her what is her secret to keep herself young looking? She told me that I will never forget, “ Keep yourself young by what you are wearing and don't grow old.”

Valentine's Day in America, China & Israel

As a woman Valentine's Day is important to be recognized from her husband or boyfriend on this special day. The day of love to me is not celebrating with my boyfriend only but with my family, my friends, the people I love in my life. If you hate Valentine's Day, I was once like you. I hated roses and loving couples on this day but I have learned to accept and show my love to my friends, family and my two young nieces. I am woman who is loved by her family. My family is number one in my life and this year I will celebrate with my mom (who lost her husband to cancer last year), my sister ( A single mom), my guy and my two nieces.

This summer, I got to see Valentine's Day in China and I had experienced Valentine's day in Israel 2001. The holidays are no different from other countries because it celebrating the day of love. What is the difference from American Valentine's Day compare to others countries? China & Israel is the focus in this blog. Get ready for history lesson because it will be interesting. Forgive me if my blog is long but I had to do some research online. So, Enjoy! :)

Chinese Valentine's Day

“中国情人节(Zhōngguó qíngrénjié) Chinese Valentine’s Day" will be on the 6th of August. Nowadays, Chinese people celebrate this special day in various ways.

Many young lovers in China go for a special Chinese Valentine's Day candlelit dinner. People often float red, pink, and white helium-filled balloons or hang fresh flowers above their dining table. In addition, they like to create a romantic atmosphere with music wafting through the room.

"情人节电影(qíngrénjié diànyǐng) Valentine's Day movies" are also very popular in China. Lovers go to cinema together to see a moving love story. Moreover, a lot of young Chinese people like to go to Karaoke to enjoy a romantic "情人节(qíngrénjié) Valentine's Day."

Most young people in China are also keen of Chinese Valentine's Day. Actually, in China we have a similar holiday dedicated for love, as in the west. In Chinese, it's called "七夕节(qīxī jié) The Seventh Eve."It is also known as "中国情人节(zhōngguó qíngrén jié) Chinese Valentine's Day"and "女儿节(nǚér jié) The Daughter's Day." It occurs on the seventh day of the seventh month on the Chinese lunar calendar. This day was originated from a beautiful love story. The seventh daughter of the Goddess of Heaven, 织女(zhīnǚ) Zhi Nv, fell in love with a cowherd called 牛郎(niúláng) Niu Lang. Regardless of the taboo that an immortal could not marry a mortal, she decided to marry Niu Lang. They lived happily for several years. Eventually, however, the Goddess of Heaven became fed up with her daughter's absence, and ordered her to return to heaven. However, the mother took pity on the couple and allowed them to reunite once a year. Legend has it that on the seventh night of the seventh moon, magpies form a bridge with their wings for Zhi Nv to cross to meet her husband.

In ancient times, various activities were held to celebrate the festival in different places, but young people nowadays like to release the "孔明灯(kŏngmíngdēng) Hung Ming lanterns"on the Chinese Valentine's Day, which was invented by Zhuge Kongming at the time of Three Kingdoms. In the evening, lovers make good wishes together and light Hung Ming lanterns with full blessings of faithful love between them, just like the love between Niu Lang and Zhi Nv.

In Chinese Valentine's Day, you can hear all kinds of Valentine's Day greetings, such as "情人节快乐(Qíngrénjié kuàilè) Happy Valentine's Day!" "情(qíng)"represents all kinds of emotion such as "爱情(àiqíng) love," "亲情(qīnqíng) the feelings between family members," but here, it means love. "人(rén)" means person or people. So "情人(qíngrén)" means lovers and is the same as another Chinese word "情侣(qínglǚ)." The character "节(jié)" means festival, which comes from the Chinese word "节日(jiérì)." So "情人节(qíngrénjié)" means the lovers' festival, namely, Valentine's Day. "快(kuài)" means fast and "乐(lè)" means happiness. At such a romantic festival, it is a great chance to express yourself to your loved one.

Here we offer you some classic Chinese expressions on this special day:

Israel Valentine's Day

(August 15^th) I was told the holiday occurs by looking at the moon during summertime. Tu B'Av, the 15th Day of Av, is both an ancient and modern holiday. Originally a post-biblical day of joy, it served as a matchmaking day for unmarried women in the second Temple period (before the fall of Jerusalem in 70 C.E.). Tu B'Av was almost unnoticed in the Jewish calendar for many centuries but it has been rejuvenated in recent decades, especially in the modern state of Israel. In its modern incarnation it is gradually becoming a Hebrew-Jewish Day of Love, slightly resembling Valentine's Day in English-speaking countries.

There is no way to know exactly how early Tu B'Av began. The first mention of this date is in the Mishnah (compiled and edited in the end of the second century), where Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel is quoted saying, "There were no better (i.e. happier) days for the people of Israel than the Fifteenth of Av and Yom Kippur, since on these days the daughters of Israel/Jerusalem go out dressed in white and dance in the vineyards. What were they saying: Young man, consider whom you choose (to be your wife)?"(Ta'anit, Chapter 4).

Origins of the Date

The Gemara (the later, interpretive layer of the Talmud) attempts to find the origin of this date as a special joyous day, and offers several explanations. One of them is that on this day the Biblical "tribes of Israel were permitted to mingle with each other," namely: to marry women from other tribes (Talmud, Ta'anit 30b). This explanation is somewhat surprising, since nowhere in the Bible is there a prohibition on "intermarriage" among the 12 tribes of Israel. This Talmudic source probably is alluding to a story in the book of Judges (chapter 21): After a civil war between the tribe of Benjamin and other Israelite tribes, the tribes vowed not to intermarry with men of the tribe of Benjamin.

It should be noted that Tu B'Av, like several Jewish holidays (Passover, Sukkot, Tu Bishvat) begins on the night between the 14th and 15th day of the Hebrew month, since this is the night of a full moon in our lunar calendar. Linking the night of a full moon with romance, love, and fertility is not uncommon in ancient cultures.

For almost 19 centuries--between the destruction of Jerusalem and the re-establishment of Jewish independence in the state of Israel in 1948--the only commemoration of Tu B'Av was that the morning prayer service did not include the penitence prayer (Tahanun).

In recent decades Israeli civil culture promotes festivals of singing and dancing on the night of Tu B'Av. The entertainment and beauty industries work overtime on this date. It has no formal legal status as a holiday-- it is a regular workday--nor has the Israeli rabbinate initiated any addition to the liturgy or called for the introduction of any ancient religious practices. The cultural gap between Israeli secular society and the Orthodox rabbinate makes it unlikely that these two will find a common denominator in the celebration of this ancient/modern holiday in the foreseeable future.”

100 blog posting ago, I started this blog in 2008. I have learned a lot about myself and about life. I wanted to write this blog to capture my words on the net instead of on paper. I have noticed that this blog turned into a blog not for me but for other women.There was a season when I went through some grieving moments but I turned this blog to be positive. To show the world a woman can live by faith if she has enough faith in father in heaven.

I am woman with a dream…. A woman who goes into many nations to reach other women from the darkness places. Congress wants to pass a bill to censorship the internet. What a joke! Congress can pass a bill to help protect our privacy on the internet but not take away our freedom over the internet. Overcome Death, Disease and Despair (3D’s) By Dan Rodriguez

My dad wrote this on 03.12.2000. I was missing my dad this afternoon. I turned to his writings to help me and to be encouraged with his words. His writings will also encourage you to turn the Lord in trouble times.

Matt 10:1

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”

In my earlier years, I remember my parents traveled wherever they could find work. The traveling pattern I remembered was going from Texas, to Oklahoma, and on to California returning back to Texas towards the end of the year. I heard much talk about earlier years on how they would travel from Texas, Illinois and to Florida. I know it may sound like my parents had money to travel, but the real traveling reason was they were migrant workers desperately looking to support the family in any word of work they heard or overheard. Many things happened in this time frame to my family. Some good, but a lot of mishaps where disease, death, and many desperate unwelcome situations occurred as the result of traveling. You would think my family would have stop the traveling as a result, the reason they continued to travel as a result, but the reason they continued was survival. My family finally settled in California when my dad was forced to stop working because of his bad back and age has slowly crept up on both of my parents.

The words death, disease and despair all seem to relate strongly to destruction and doom which comes from the pit of the devil. Jesus knew that in order for the gospel to continue, his disciples would have to overcome adversities such as unclean spirits (demon in people) sickness, and disease. It is funny how the Lord broke out sickness from disease. You would think they are in the same, but in reality one is the progression of the other. Managers in all corporations, partnerships and small proprietary business give power to deal all the areas of business. Here, Jesus gives power to his disciples in these three main areas of business of the gospel.

Was this authority only to the twelve or was it to include you and me? Many have missed the mark of the gospel because they failed to include the authority of Jesus. Thousands followed Jesus everywhere not because they failed to include the authority of Jesus. Thousands followed Jesus everywhere not because of they needed consultation to put their corporate leaders in the right course or to inspire managers to produce higher sales, less expenses, greater gains with less efforts but these masses of folks followed Jesus because they needed to witness these miracles for themselves or needed a healing miracle for them or a loved one.

T.L. Osborn talks about how he went to India in his first missionary trip only to find that he was well regarded just like any other powerless religion. He and his wife returned home feeling somewhat disappointed regarding their trip because their Jesus was not regarded as the messiah he knew and had accepted. His vision totally changed when they witnessed a minister holding a revival where the people with sickness, diseases, and with unclean spirits were delivered and both he and his wife re-read all the New Testament with a whole new light where God was speaking to the Osborns as well as the disciples. After this, their ministry in India flourished because they started putting their faith in action by praying for the sick, diseased and with spirits believing for their healing with signs and wonders just like it says in Mark 16:2- “And they went fourth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, death, disease, despair hit my family when we did not know the power of God through the authority of Jesus words. Do not only know God’s word gives you authority over any adversary where it death, disease, or despair, but put this authority into action in your life as well as everyone around you! We overcome death when we accept and serve Jesus in our hearts guaranteeing a place in heaven FOREVER! Multiple the gospel by knowing and applying God’s delegated authority over destruction from the devil which comes at us seeking to devour and destroy us through any mean he has previously doctrine us to accept.

Clifford is 36 Years Young

Clifford’s Birthday is this weekend and I can’t believe he will be turning 36 years old. I met Clifford when he was 31 years old. It is hard to imagine Clifford has aged 5 years because he does not look like a day over 26 years old. This blog is dedicated to my sweet guy on his 36^th birthday.

Clifford is a man of heart, a man who stands next to you when life is falling apart, a man who prays, a man who makes you laugh, a man of G-d, a man who loves cars, a man will be there when you are in need, a man who loves children as his own, a man who loves his son, a man who loves to travel, a man who loves foreign food and loves to eat his mother’s cooking, loves shop for shoes and car parts,loves his family, a caring heart for others, loves the word of G-d, who cares for his friends, a man who loves a good adventure, a man who has a vision, a man who want to accomplish something in life, and a man who loves challenges, There is more to say about Clifford but these are the main things about what Clifford is all about.

Review in 2011 & Goals for 2012

Looking back 2011 was not easy year for me. I had to reflect many of my photos to be picked for 2011. At the beginning of the year, I was laid off in January, 2011. I did my best to keep my mind positive for many months and trusted in the Lord for the direction in my life. I found myself working through school with my master degree, selling Avon as hobby, volunteered for community college on a project, hung out with my dad & family often, adventured with my family to many family events including Padre Island, in South Texas- April 2011, celebrated my 91^st Grandfather’s birthday, getting a makeover with Bobbi Brown with my close cousin, going on motorcycle journey with my boyfriend in South Texas for a week, meeting my cousin 1st time in San Antonio, TX and hung out with Clifford’s close friends in Blanco, TX, I received a call to go to China-April 2011, watched Dallas Mavs, Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys had an amazing year in sports, worked with my Hilton family again, watched the crazy weather in May and June come through Texas, celebrated my dad’s last birthday when he turned 57 years old in June, I had amazing time with my family on Fourth of July, taught English in Beijing, China, explored places that I thought I wouldn’t ever gone in my lifetime in China, I met new friends in China and also in the states with my University, watched my dad being diagnosed with cancer 2^nd time in August, had emotion pains with my dad go through hospice care and had a funeral for my dad in Sept., I had celebrated my 31^st birthday and my niece’s 8^th birthday two weeks after my dad passed away- which we made the best of it with friends & family, my family went away to Kemah, Houston for vacation at the end of Sept., I went through a new season with my family and my mom at home, walked at Susan G Komen race in Oct. with good friends, ran for colon cancer with my family in Oct. 2011, my family had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family from South Texas and 91 year old grandfather, celebrated 5 years with the love of my life Clifford, continued to finished my studies on campus for my master, I had 1 great mentor pray for my family and me, I graduated with my master in Dec. 2011, I went to Virginia and New York city to see friends & family, and spend Christmas & New Years with my family.

Life is not perfect and it has its ups and downs. At times you can't control your life because “LIFE HAPPENS”. You are not in control and I really believe the Father in Heaven is in control of your life with the choices you make in life. I did my best to stay positive and be strong for my family this year because I did not want to fall into deep depression with the crazy season that I was had in 2011.

What is ahead in 2012…. many are saying the world will end Dec. 2012. I don’t know what is ahead after Dec. 2012 but I will say that I will make the best of this year after going through 2011. 2012, it will be a year when my writings will be published online or maybe in a book, I will do my best to get my dad’s book published for my family, I will finally find that dream job in teaching, in marketing field or the hospitality industry, I hoped to start my life with the love of my life and plan a wedding this year, & I hoped to vacation in Florida this summer with my mom and my family. I don’t know what else to write as my goals but we will see what to expect in my life. I will need some of the prayer warriors to pray for my family and I. Please pray for my family to be stronger in our faith and not fall. It has been difficult season because our father was leader when it came to things of the Lord. I am doing the best to be a leader as woman of the Lord because it has not been easy. I am trusting in the Lord for the next steps in my family’s life.

Christmas 2011

The joys of Christmas as a kid is memorable one for my family & I. The midnight opening presents with my folks on Christmas Day. Hanging out on Christmas day with my folks in our Pj’s to play with our new toys. I wished to be a kid again and turn back the clocks.

This Christmas will be a quite different year for my family because special memories will not be there with my dad. My dad was a big part of our Christmas traditions and shared many gifts. My dad was the one to pick up the wrapping paper after the gifts were torn apart. He was the one to hug you when getting a gift from him. He was one to write a special letter to you to say how proud of you as a dad. It will be emptied this year and I don't know how to take this new season of Christmas.

This is why.... I decided after my graduation to visit my family and friends on east coast instead of Christmas shopping. Christmas shopping has not been on top of my list this season. I love looking at decorations and checking out all the great products in the stores but shopping for others is hard for me. The only shopping I'm doing is for my nieces and my nephew. The important factor in all this is fellowship with others. Loving each individual and thanking the Lord for them. Christmas is about more than gifts. It is about the birth of Christ. The miracle story of Christ coming into this world. It is about families and friends coming together as one. Watching children open their gifts and the huge smiles they have. Eating together and sharing laughter. Watching Miracle 34^th Street for the 100^th time. It about believing amazing miracle on this holiday. It about families praying together. It is about life during this Christmas season. Take the time to enjoy this holiday call “Christmas”. Life is so precious this year.

I finshed the race to get Master Degree

“Behind every success is effort… Behind every effort is passion….. Behind every passion is someone with the courage to try…”

Today is one of the biggest days in my life. Today is also the last day of my schooling which I received my master. In my commencement, the speaker said only 8% receives their master and I am one of those 8%. In my immediate family, I am the only one to receive my masters. One gal next to me said she experienced a lot while studying her master. She told me that she had finished her exam online then she had her baby. There is a lot of sacrifice when you have a passion for something more than yourself. While studying my masters in last 2 years.. I have experienced joy, studied a lot in the library, writing late nights, experienced a lot tears, moved to different homes, being unemployed, going into the mission field to preach the gospel, having fears, laughing, having the love in my life standing close to me, have the greatest mentors in my life, meeting new friends, trust in the Lord, lost a dad to cancer. My dad’s last few words to me were to finish my masters. I told my dad I would.. I wanted to be a doctor one day. One day it will happen. I will get my Ph. D when I am 50 something. G-d helped me get through my education with a learning disability and anything is possible in life. As my dad said to me once, “You can do anything and all things are possible with Christ.”

True love after 5 years being together

5 years ago on December 04, 2006, I met a blond hair and blue eye fellow who swept me by my feet in downtown Ft. Worth, TX, one night when I was 26 years old. Little did.. I know that this fellow was going to be part of my life for 5 years of my life. The first week in 2006, I met this fellow and we fell in love while my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. I told this fellow that my dad comes first and our relationship will be second. He understood this because he dealt with his grandmother having breast cancer 3 years ago before.

This fellow has been part of my life at the beginning of my dad having colon cancer. My prayer was to meet a man who would get along with my father. If this man got along with my father then I knew he would be my husband one day. Clifford hung out with my father when my dad went through chemo and radiation in 2007. I remembered one time my dad had surgery and my dad told Clifford to stop making him laugh. This fellow hung out with my father during family functions, birthday parties, family events, holidays, Nascar, Dallas Cowboys games, traveled with my family and went to church. This fellow has built a relationship with my father. If my dad needed help with something Clifford was on his way to help my dad. My dad was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 2011. I remembered one early morning… my dad called this fellow his buddy. My dad’s buddy was my boyfriend. This fellow hung out with my dad before my father passed away. This fellow cried when my father passed away and this fellow held me in his arms. This fellow has not let me go since my father passed away. This fellow and I have been closer since we came back from Asia this past summer. I thought our relationship was going to fall in the cracks but we became closer when my father passed away. I have asked the Lord if this fellow to be meant in my life which I seemed to feel at peace with this fellow. We try to work through our issues and we are still continued to work through our issues each day. It takes work when you love someone even after 5 years being together. At this point, we are not married. I am glad we are not married and thank the Lord. This season in my life I don’t see marriage. The reason why my family comes first. I chose not to have a wedding right now. I have responsibility with my nieces, my sister, my mother and not a husband yet. When someone you love passes away there is responsibility that you have to take for a while until things are settle in. I can’t see myself picking out wedding dresses in this season when my little nieces need me, my mom or my sister. My family lost a lot this year and it would be selfish to leave them. I do see Clifford as my husband but in about a year. I don’t want to burden my life right now with a wedding. It is not right after my father passes away. I want to get settle in my career and help my family for a year.

My dad sacrifice a lot for his family at the age of 30 years old and I want to do the same to honor him until I am 32 years old.

I love you, Clifford. Thank you for being my best friend and being there for me during this rough year for me and my family. I know the Lord has a plan for us and our future family but the waiting part is the hardest part. He will bless us, I promise you.

Missing a Love One during Holidays

Today, I was writing on the computer working intensely in my studies then suddenly, I remember the voice of my dad coming home early on Thanksgiving week or on a Holiday from work. He would shout “Woo Hoo” and do a silly dance saying, “I am off from work for a whole week!” Now, the house is empty without joys of my father’s voice. The tears started to shed like water falls from my eyes on to my cheeks. Holidays are the hardest on family members who are dealing with loss. I have never felt like this before… cooking, shopping, decorating are the hardest to do. The family member or friend feels like it is not normal because their love one is gone from their life forever.

You can say to the friend, “Your love one is in heaven with Jesus.” Yes, the love one is in heaven... What about the person who is hurting for their love one during this holiday season? It takes years and years to overcome the loss of the love one. The closer you are to the one who has passed away... it is hard to move forward in life without them in this holiday season or any holiday season.

I see why there is so much depression in this holiday season and so many folks drive themselves to ease the pain away to forget it. At times, I fall asleep to hide the pain away. Others drink themselves away, do drugs, runway on a vacation, and watch TV all hours, shop, & etc. A lot of folks cover their pain to escape. There a lot of hurting people during this season. Remember the ones who are hiding in the corner and crying for the loss of the love ones. Don’t forget about your friends or family even though their love ones have passed away a month, 2 month ago, or even years. Love on them, hug them, shop with them, invite them over for dinner, go to a movie, drink coffee, have a glass of wine etc.. It is still real to most of us each day and it is fight to be normal in our everyday life. Prayers are in need for the person, on the phone, or even with them in person during this season or need a word of encouragement.

Why I am thankful… I recently quoted each day for the last 21 days on my Twitter and Facebook: One quote I will leave you this holiday seasons which will be my last quote on 24^th which is: “I am thankful for my family.” It has been a rough year in my life and my family’s life. The loss of our father in September. It will be hard not to have my dad not cut the turkey this year at family's dinner table. We are giving my 90 year old grandpa and the help of my brother to cut the turkey this year. My family will make new chapters in our book of life this Thanksgiving Holiday Season. This past Monday… I saw a movie with North Richland Hills Baptist Church at Rave Movie Theater. This movie made me cry throughout the movie. I will not say too much of the movie
because I do not want to spoil the movie if you haven’t seen it recently. I will say that my
father Dan Rodriguez was Courageous man of his house. He was a man who would protect his
family in prayer or if something bad happen to any of us. I remember one time my dad
would not leave to go to work until this strange car left that sat in front of our house. That
was courageous man! He was a man of prayer. When things went bad in life… dad would call you
up and pray for you. My dad prayed and blessed you even on his last days. My cousin Charity
wrote a blog about my dad on his last days @ http://displacedcaliforniahippie.blogspot.com/2011/09/true-christ-

I am wondering where are the Courageous men of the Lord are? Have Courageous men taken a stand
in their homes? Some men fall into the selfish ways. I remember one time my dad shared with me
on how he had fallen away from the Lord. Money and success started to take a turn in his life
and he forgotten the Lord. His family was not first. Dan was first.
Then, things started to fall apart in many ways until my grandma and his mother passed away in
1997. Dad had a wakeup call on his life with the Lord. I know many men are not perfect but remember you have to leave a legacy for your family. You have a short time on this earth and make every moment count with your family and the Lord. My dad made every moment count and he would tell us when I am gone…. You will remember the words I have said to you. He was right and my dad lived as the Courageous man even at the end. My dad will live in my heart forever.

Today, please make your stand as Courageous man for your family, if you are single for your future family, for your nation if you are in the services, if you are in law enforcement for your city or state, or even for yourself on to the Lord.

Steve Jobs and Cancer

I don’t worship Steve Jobs but I was encouraged during this time while I grief for my father in this season of my life. As I look at my Apple products, I think a great man who was the brains behind these products. Someone said that Steve Jobs was our Thomas Edison of our generation. What I have learned Steve Jobs never gave up in his career while he had cancer. He continued to what he loved best was have vision to change the world with Apple products. I am inspired to do something great in my life with the Lord's help.

When you find out someone you love is diagnosed with cancer your perceptive of life changes. You live each day with them like it was their last. I am still carrying hurt of my father being gone and I wish that I could bring him back to life but I can't. My memories of him will continue to live in my heart because I was part of him. Now, I have to hold to my Lord for my everything because Life is all about Lord.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has died at age 56. Apple.com currently shows a solitary photo of Jobs and simply says, "Steve Jobs 1955-2011."

A statement from Jobs' family reads, in full:

"Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.

In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve's illness; a website will be provided for those who wish to offer tributes and memories.

We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief."

Jobs has been instrumental in many of Apple's hit products, stretching back to 1976 with the Apple I, all the way to the modern-day iPhone and iPad. He revealed to Apple employees in 2004 that he'd been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent a liver transplant in 2009. In late August of this year, Jobs stepped down as CEO of Apple.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Laurene, and their three children. Jobs also has a fourth child from a past relationship named Lisa, after whom he named Apple's "Lisa" computer in 1983.

Apple's board of directors has issued the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

A 30 year old woman lessons

I am turning 31 years old this week...

My 20’s was to explore new adventures in my life such as going to Bible school, travel, ministry, school, living with a family, and friendships. Being 30 this year was quite different for me. These are some lessons that I have learned this year that I did not know when I was in my 20’s:

Jobs come and go but they do not identify who you really are but G-d knows who you really are. G-d will direct you in that dream job no matter what economy looks like from a distance. I watched my dad being successful in his job. My dad brought new ideas to his company and did not worry about being laid off. My dad continued to wake up each day at the age of 57 and went to work happy. I saw my dad modeled this attitude for me and I will continued his legacy to my next job.

Home is a place for a time and season. I learned after three moves that you cannot place yourself forever because it is temporal. There will be new seasons when it comes to a new home. I am ready to be stable but I don’t think I would ever be stable in a home because I feel there is a mission in some unknown country or in a new home.

Material does not revolve my world. My pastor brought up a good point today in church he said are you a different person than you were last year. I was… I did not realize it but I have allowed my life to revolve material. I had so many shopping moments that I can’t count them. This year, I haven’t had many shopping moments and very few of them. I had more moments with my family or friends that I did not need to allow material to take my life or my time.

Children are a gift. Children are a gift but at this point of my life I don’t see myself having children anytime soon. My season with children is to adopt them. My two nieces and my nephew have been my world. I sing and dance with them when I babysit them. When they there are fussing then I give the children back to their parents. I wonder to myself if I will be a good parent one day?….but not right now.

Marriage is on everyone’s agenda but mine is to be one day. I have a wedding planning magazine that I bought myself if I ever need it but at this point no. When marriage will come for me but at this point I am not pushing myself until the right guy asks me even if I am in relationship with him. I want to make sure this special guy wants to grows with me and wake up each morning with me when I am married to him. I can’t push marriage on anyone for now I wait.

Parents are here on earth then they are gone. I learned to appreciate the moments with my parents no matter how much they bug me. My dad used to call me every morning to say good morning and I would say hello in sleepy voice at the beginning of the year. I wish, I had those moments again but now I only have voice mails of my dad saying good morning to me. Everyone if you have two parents still living please tells them that you love them no matter how much you hate them or spend time with them. I had so many wonderful moments with my dad and I wished, I had more wonderful moments with my dad again.

As I turn 31, I will look back of what I have learned this year and continue to grow another year.

Ordinary Individual who was a Hero

Today is a new day for me because it is a new beginning without my dad. A determination to move forward with my studies, and to work again because this is what my dad wanted from me if he was living today.

As, I move forward in my life today, I leave this speech on my blog I wrote for my dad call, “Ordinary Individual who was a Hero.”

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Christopher Reeve

This was my dad, Dan Rodriguez. He was a hero to all of us. Our Superman. He was also our best friend including me. I had the honor to be his daughter. My dad was a best friend to many of us. Many of us can relate to Dan being our best friend.

For 30 years of my life he taught me so much about life, school, writing, speaking, career, family, sports, to be hero, but also of the Lord. The Lord was close to his heart. He spent many of his days with the Lord on earth and in ministry to others. Dan was a man of prayer and reading the Bible. He spent his last days with his close friends and family praying. Dan had the honor to give blessings to us even though he was in pain. Dad was a giving man. Once dad told me that he never wanted his children or grandchildren to go through cancer. He was willing to die for us if we caught cancer.

Life- Dan was a teacher to all of us. Words can't express how much my dad taught us about life. There were many wisdom lessons that my dad taught us.

Writing- Dad was a writer. Many of you may not know but dad loved to write. My dad & I shared something common with each other, one of them being our talent to write. He wanted to write a book many years ago but did not pursue it. In his last days, we spent some time at night reading his own stories.

Speaking engagements- Dan was involved with Toastmaster when he worked for Mobil Oil. Dan had a way with his words as he spoke in public with confidence. It taken him a lot of years of practice to speak in public but he accomplished being excellent speaker.

Career- Dan obtained his bachelor degree at the age of 30 from Pam Am University. Dad worked for Mobil Oil for many years. My dad loved working Mobil Oil and took us to work sometimes. I remember one summer I got a temp. job working with Mobil Oil at the age of16. My dad and I spent our time together that summer going to work and having lunch together. Those were priceless moments for me working with my dad.

In 99, Dan was laid off from Mobil Oil. Dad went to EDS from 1999-2001. Laid off again because of the economy after 9-11. I watched my dad for 6 months look for a job. My dad was not giving up to find a job and to help his family. Then, my dad landed the Wal-Mart job as assistant manager in 2002. My dad worked a few years with Wal-Mart. He learned a lot about the retail business that made him stronger as person in life. Then, my dad went from Wal-Mart to Safety-Kleen in the Accounting position. My dad was the happiest person when he got Safety-Kleen job because he was back doing what he loved, which was being challenge with numbers. When he landed Safety-Kleen job that is when he got colon cancer and continued to work with Safety-Kleen after he beat cancer. Then, my father moved from Safety-Kleen to QuickSilver. I remember my dad telling me that he was happy to work in the oil industry again. He was happy to being his field again. He felt like he was working his first job at Mobil Oil. My dad loved what he was doing in his career because of the colleagues, the challenges, coming up with new projects, and friendships. Some people strive to be the best and make money but my dad was the opposite. He was man who had humility, who wanted to serve others and give of himself.

Family- Dan was a family man. You bet that my dad received # 1 father's day gifts each year. My dad would not miss any of our important events. As a family we traveled together each year on our family vacations. We ate as family, went to church, and watched lots of movies. Dan was not only a father to us but a father to many. Many of us will miss my father.

Sports- During his off time dad loved to watch sports in person or on TV. Dad told me once that he watched the cowboys when he was young boy and that is why he had a love for the Dallas Cowboys.

To be hero- My father helped us children in times of trouble. When we went through scary moments in our lives which our father was there with us to pray and read the Bible. I remembered as a child being scared when there was tornado in our area. My dad prayed with us to drive the storms away. He did the same thing when I was coming back from China this summer to pray for my safety when there was a typhoon in China and I came home with no issues.

A hero sometimes through weakness with his health...In 2006, I watched my dad as he dealt with colon cancer the first time. It was the hardest moment of his life of going through long weeks of chemo and radiation but my dad wanted to live and go back to work. Dad did eventually went back to work in 2007. Dad went through cancer 2^nd time in his lungs. Dad was a fighter as he went through hand full of surgeries in the past month but my dad continued to fight until he was called home.

Man of the Lord- My dad was man of the Lord. He prayed for you even though you did not know it. He would spend early mornings as he drove work to praying for many of you, at his desk, or in his quiet place. My dad was not flashy about his religion. My dad was not in ministry or pastor but he shared his faith when you were going through something in your life. My dad accepted you for who you were. My dad had unconditional love for you even if you did wrong to him. My dad taught us to be like Jesus and to share your faith no matter.

Dan will always be remembered in our hearts, and as my dad would tell me in his last days, “Look to Jesus”.

In the beginning of the song the instruments are playing in the back ground which it sounds like you are in desert parts of Australia.

In my world right now… I feel like I can’t do anything to cure my dad’s cancer but I can only believe in G-d. I don’t know what I would do if did not believe in the Lord right now. I could see myself in the bar drinking away my pain and sorrows. The pain right now is unbearable that your tears start to dry up and you don’t know where to turn only to hear this song right now.

Hope! My dad is always there for me even I was in the deepest pain in my life. My dad was a phone call or away.. or he would pray for me. This time, I am here for my father by his side. I hold his wrinkle hand and told him, “I love him.” Last night, I could not sleep because so many things in my mind. My dad put his hands on my head and prayed for me to sleep. I felt the power of G-d all over me and I became sleepily. Sacrifice for one another. I was honor as his daughter that my dad would pray for me. I wish, I could do the same for him but only I can believe in the great healer and not give up for my dad to be heal.
