You have a folder with name "pictures" which is in "E" drive and you want others should not see this folder. You can simply hide it using the following steps
Press Windows key + Run.
Run command will appear. There type cmd and hit enter.

This will open Command prompt ,Now Type

"attrib +s +h E:\Pictures"

Now press enter.

Thats it ! Your folder is now hidden, if not check for possible typing errors.

Hidden folders are invisible in search results.

To unhide,

Simply use the same command but replace '+' with '-'

The main change is that you can do both two tasks with a single window in GMail settings. In settings tab, go to Accounts tab and then click on link ' Add a POP3 mail account you own'. Now you will get a new window asking for your e-mail address. Enter your e-mail address and click 'Next Step'. In this step, enter your e-mail address as user name and the password for the same. no need to change the pop server. make a tick mark on 'Label Incoming messages'. and click 'Add account' button.

Select 'Yes, I want to be able to send mail as .... and click 'Next Step'. Enter your name and again click 'Next Step' Button. Select 'Send through Gmail and go to next step. Click on 'Send Verification'. Check your inbox for a verification e-mail. If it is not there, wait for few minutes and click on the verification link on it. Do you know there are many types of touch screen technologies? Yes, there are.
here I am discussing only about two types which are widely using than others. They are Capacitive touch screen and Resistive touch screen. Do you ever noticed that in some touch screen devices, your finger nail or a stylus can do the work but in some others they can't and your finger touch only works? That's the difference.

First let's discuss about Capacitive touch screen Technology. In this type, a human body touch only can make a 'touch' impact on it. The display screen consists of a insulator like glass and as the human body acts as an electrical conductor, the indium tin oxide coating in the display gets distorted by the touch of the human body. Thus it can detect the location of the touch and is processed accordingly.

In Resistive touch screen, the display consists of several layers with a thin space between them in it. When we touch using our finger tip, nail or stylus, the gap between them closes and thus it can detect the location of the touch.

That's the main difference between capacitive and resistive touch screens. The main advantage of capacitive touch screen devices over resistive is that it can detect multiple touch points. That's why you can zoom an image using your two fingers in such devices. Resistive touch screen devices lacks this feature as they can locate only one point at a time.

Loan Amortization is one of the installed templates in excel. It helps to calculate Total loan amount to be re payed, Scheduled number of payments, total early payments, Total interest and loan re-payment schedule of a Loan Account.

Click on Microsoft Office Logo in the extreme top left of the Microsoft Excel 2007 and click on new. In the dialogue box, in the left panel named 'Templates', Click on 'Installed Templates'. It will display pre-installed templates in the right side. Select 'Loan Amortization' and click on 'Create' button.

An excel file with the heading 'Loan Amortization Schedule' is created after clicking the 'create' button. In the left side, you can view 2 columns demanding 'Enter Values'. Enter Loan Amount (Eg:10000), Annual Interest rate (Eg: 16 for 1.5% per month), Loan period in Years (Eg:1 for 12 months), Number of payments per year (Eg: 12 for monthly payment and 4 for quarterly) and Start date of loan (Eg: 01-March-2012). Click on extra payment column to know what it means.

Soon after entering the start date of loan, the excel file will display the payment schedule with other useful details.

You can save the file if you want it for future reference by using 'Ctrl+S' of selecting the save menu in the menu bar.

In order to install Joomla in your computer, you have to turn your computer as a local host. In order to turn your computer as a local host, you have to
install PHP, MySql, Apache and other services on your computer.

Don't know how to install these services? Ok, there is a software to help you do all these with a few clicks. Google the word 'Download XAMPP' and click on 'I'm Feeling Lucky'. The powerful search engine of google will direct you to www.apachefriends.org from which you can get XAMPP. Download the software and install it on your computer according to the instructions.

After installing XAMPP, go to its control panel and make sure that Apache and MySql is 'Running', if you want, you can install FileZilla also from the control panel.

Download Joomla from www.joomla.org. You will get a zipped file. Extract all files to C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\joomla or whichever directory you installed the XAMPP. You have to make sure that inside the folder 'htdocs', create a folder named joomla or something else (no connection between the name of folder inside htdocs and installation setup) and extract the downloaded Joomla files inside it.

Now, Open any brower (Internet explorer, crome, firefox,etc) and type 'localhost/joomla' without quotes.(Joomla is the name of folder which you created inside 'htdocs' folder. Clck 'next' and proceed further according to the instructions. After installing Joomla, Delete the Installation folder to continue further. You can do it from the final stage of installation of Joomla through the browser. Now Go to 'localhost/joomla' to go to your site's front end. To make changes to the website , go to the back end of Joomla by typing 'localhost/joomla/administrator' in any browser.

Hope you are ready with your website designed in your computer. Now the next step is getting a domain name and web hosting. Read the articles about getting a domain name and hosting to know how to do this. After getting the control panels, the next task is
uploading the files to a server where you got the space. To do this, we have to use ftp (File Transfer Protocol). We can upload files to hosting server through three ways.

One is to go to the control panel of hosting server and through the file manager, upload files. The second option is using FileZilla, an ftp client which will make the task easier. The third way we already discussed. Now, we are discussing the second way. ie; using FileZilla.

Search in google about 'download filezilla' and download it. After installing it in your computer, open the application from start menu.

It will look like the below picture.

To upload files to server using FileZilla, type in your Host name in the field marked with No.1. Don't know what a host name is? Host name is, prefixing an 'ftp' before your domain name. For example 'ftp.example.com' (without quotes) is the host name of 'www.example.com'.

In the field No.2, Enter your hosting space's User Name and in No.3, enter password for the given username. The Username and password will be given by the Hosting Provider.

After filling the three fields, Click on 'Quickconnect' button next to it. If the parameters entered by you is correct, In the space marked with No.7, FileZilla will display the folders in the server.

Before continuing, lets discuss about fields No 4 and 5. Field no 4 is our local computer's drives and folders. From there, you can open the folder in which your website's files are saved. If you double click on a folder, the files inside it will be displayed in field No.5

Same as in fields No. 6 and 7. The only difference is that, these are folders and files in the hosting server.

Double click on 'public_html' in field No.7 and FileZilla will open it for you. Now we are ready to upload files to your hosting space. In the field No.5, select every files and folders you want to upload. Right click there are click 'Upload'. That's all. In the field No.8 you can view the progress of uploading and files in the queue.

Now, you are successfully uploaded all the files to your hosting space in the server.

After uploading the files, disconnect FileZilla from server by clicking on disconnect from server button in the top of the window ( the button previous to the blue marked button).

If you want to connect again, just click on the button marked with blue color in the picture. By clicking on the button, FileZilla will connect to the last connected server.

It may take some time depending on the connection speed, size of file,etc. Now you are successfully completed all the steps of uploading the files to hosting space. Type in your domain name in a web browser and enjoy your creativity. Please note that the file name of your home page should be 'index.html'.

Taking a still image from a video file is an easy task. But, some starter computer users may not know the trick. There are so many softwares and ways to do that. I am here in this blog to let you remind some tips and tricks in an easy manner. So we are about to take a still image from a video file.

We can do this task easily using VLC Media Player. By default, it is not available. To enable the feature, go to 'Tool's menu and make a Tick mark on 'Advanced controls' by clicking on it.

You can see that two more controls are added in the bottom control panel of the VLC Player. To take a image from video file, open the file in VLC Media Player and pause at the frame you want to export as a still photo.

Click on the last button (Looks like a camera) in the control panel and that's all. Go to Pictures / My Pictures in the computer and you will get the image there.

Want to change the output folder? Go to 'Preferences' from 'Tools' Menu and go to 'Video' tab. Choose a destination folder there and now onwards you will get the images there.

If you dont want to download any software, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter to use the utility which is bundled with the Windows Operating System itself. Select a drive and click 'Defragment'. After defragmentation is complete, select next drive and again choose Defragment button.

There one more way to do this. In 'My Computer', Select a drive you want to defragment and right click on it. Choose properties from the menu and Go to 'Tools' Tab. Click the button 'Defragment Now' to start the task.

Another way to speed up your PC is Disk Cleanup. In 'My Computer', Select a drive you want to cleanup and right click on it. Choose properties from the menu and Go to 'General' Tab. Click the button 'Disk Cleanup' to start cleaning up the disk.

There is one more way left to speedup your PC. Install and use ccleaner. Through this, you can fix registry issues also.

It can do the matter virtually. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Sticky Notes to Open the utility. It will give you a virtual piece of paper you can write on. By default, it is yellow in color and by right clicking inside it will give you an option to choose from other five different colors. Want One more Sticky note? Move the cursor towards the title of the note and there you will see a Plus (+) sign at the left and a 'X'sign on right. Click on that Plus symbol to get more Sticky notes. If it sounds much paining for you, the second method is for you. Open the file which you want to convert as pdf and choose File > Print (Or Ctrl+P). Select the Printer 'DoPdf v7' (v7 is software version) and click print. Select destination folder and file name and click Ok. The file is now converted to Pdf. Sounds good..eh?

Oh! There is a problem of selecting target/destination folder every time. To overcome this, in the select destination folder window, Tick 'Always use this folder' and here ends the hassle.

You can turn the automatic updates off by following my simple steps. If you want to disable all your software / application updates, this is not the way. If you want to do so,

go to the settings window of each and every application and turn automatic updates off. You may use some third party applications to do this job for you. However I am here to let you know the steps of disabling of windows updates only.

Right click in Computer / My Computer Icon and click ‘Manage’. You will get a computer management Window. In the left pane, click on ‘service and applications' and open ‘Services’. In the list of services, locate ‘Windows Update’ (In Windows7 in XP it may be automatic updates) and double click to open it. In the General tab, Set ‘Startup type’ as ‘Disabled’. Windows will not get updated automatically after clicking OK button.

Reset it to ‘Automatic’ to undo the action and get automatic updates again.

Is there any other 'simpler' method? Definitely Yes.
The Snipping Tool. From where it can be downloaded? There is no need to download anything yaar. It is there in Windows7. Choose Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Snipping tool.

You will now see a small window with three buttons via, New, Cancel and Options. Click on the small down arrow mark in the 'New' Button. There a four Options.

Free form snip - draw a free form shape in the screen.
Rectangular snip - Drag the cursor to make a rectangular shape selection.
Window snip - capture the screen shot of a selected window only.

Select the appropriate option and drag around the object to get a screen shot.

In this way, you cannot make a screen shot of a menu. For that, Open Snipping tool, Press ESC and open the menu you want to take screen shot, Press Ctrl+PrtScn and then follw the above steps.

Now you will get the captured image in a separate window in which you can draw / write with different colored pen tools, apply color lines, etc.

After you are done. You can save the same using the Save Button.

Use send snip button to share the image through e-mail.

Share the post to your friends so that they also can try it.

How to format my Nokia Mobile?

Want to format your Nokia? I think the reason behind formatting your mobile will be some virus attack. Try to install some antivirus software for mobile. If it doesn't work, you should format your mobile phone. There are two ways through which we can format a mobile. Hard Reset and Soft reset. Soft reset means resetting Nokia by means of giving it a command through keypad. Hard reset means the same but it requires some key combinations simultaneously.
Before making a reset attempt, make sure that all the data including SMS and Phonebook is backed up. Resetting of phone will not erase contents of memory card.

For a soft reset of your Nokia mobile, Dial *#7370# in the Keypad, press. The mobile phone will ask you for security password. Enter the password for resetting your mobile. If you don't changed your password, the default password for Nokia mobiles is 12345.

Unfortunately there are different ways for hard formatting on different models. For example, if you are using a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, try the following for a hard reset.

Switch off the mobile phone.
Press the Green Button, Read Button and Camera button simultaneously.
Holding the keys, Switch On your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
Hold the keys until the mobile shows the screen asking you for selecting the country.

How to take Screen Shot of my mobile?

Whenever you see a post in this blog which is related to mobile, there may be some screen shots of the same. You can also take the images of screen shots from your mobile. I am discussing about an application which will work in all Nokia 'Symbian S60 V5' mobiles. Check compatibility with other models. You already know that you can download exciting applications, games, themes,etc from the Nokia Ovi Store. It is located in the menu groups.

Open Ovi Store and browse through applications. There you will get a simple application for taking screen shot. The name of the application is 'Screen snap'. Download and install the application in your phone. In the below picture, you can locate the 'Nokia Store' (Ovi Store) and the 'Screensnap' application.

Open the software and it will look like this.

Tap on Shortcut key and set the key you want to use for taking screen shots. Here I am used ' CameraShutter (long). By 'long' it means, just pressing the camera button half way as we are focusing in real camera. It will take a screen shot of the current screen. 'Delay' means the delay in taking the snap after you press the button. Set zero for instant snap. Make experiments with other menus also.

Select the option 'hide' on the bottom right and the application will now be hidden. Open any screen and press the button for taking the screen shot of that screen.

Remember, if you want to take a real photo using your camera, don't forget to go to 'Screensnap' and Choose 'exit' from the Options menu.
