As part of my "These are a Few of my Favorite Things" series leading up to the Christmas Holiday, I am posting multiple reviews of products, both local and not-so-local!

I will post a link of where you can find these things, as well! It's time to get shopping!

Mudcrush Pottery has created some of my very favorite and most beautiful pottery pieces! If you know me at all, you know that I love to crochet. A friend taught me how about 3 years ago, and I haven't stopped every since!

HOWEVER, I also have 4 children and 3 indoor pets!! It simply doesn't work to just let my yarn skein flop around while crocheting. If it's on the couch, somebody picks it up and plays with it. If it is on the floor, I will give someone a gift with dog hair woven in (not so pleasant).

These yarn bowls have been life savers! The little cut out holds the yarn in place perfectly, and there is enough weight to keep the whole skein down. She also makes rectangular ones for those of us who don't like to roll our yarn in to a ball!

I was given the opportunity to review this book through BookSneeze. The very first thing that comes to mind when I remember taking the time to go through this book is the unmatched value we found in it as a homeschooling family. The authors have listed one major historical event for every day of the year. We have had fun reading one of the events each day, and discussing the impact the events must have had on our country! But the "this day in history" pages are not the only parts of value!

There are also several articles, including "Twelve Great Reasons to Love a Great Country", "Flags of the Revolutionary War", "The History of the Stars and Stripes", "Fifty All-American Movies", "Flag Etiquette: Guidelines for Displaying and Handling the U.S. Flag", "How the Declaration of Independence Was Written and Signed", "The Declaration of Independence", How the Constitution Was Written and Ratified", The Constitution of the United States", "The Bill of Rights", "Amendments to the U.S. Constitution Since the Bill of Rights", "The Gettysburg Address", "The Emancipation Proclamation", The Pledge of Allegiance", "The American's Creed", "Songs of American Patriotism", "Poems of American Patriotism", and "Prayers for the American People"! The collection itself is highly impressive before you get to the real "meat" of the book, which is readable every single day for a year!

I recommend this book constantly to fellow homeschool families. Even if your children aren't homeschooled, this is a wonderful way to become more involved in your child(ren)'s education.

You can purchase this book on Amazon for a great value! This link will take you to the ebook edition, but just because of the amazing aesthetics of it, we enjoyed the hard copy!

I LOVE HAIR DECOR!!!

I love the winter. I love the smell of cold weather, the logs on the fire, the hot cocoa with family, and the stars shining through the bare trees.

Norah Jones - ...Featuring

I am a HUGE fan of Norah Jones. And when I heard that One2One Network was offering me a chance to review her music, I was SO excited! She has that husky, bluesy, smooth voice that I have always loved. Take a listen by clicking below!

Another awesome thing about this album is that she is only "featured" in all the songs! She is performing with many other artists, and there is not one song on this album that is like another. Some of them completely shocked me, for example, her duet with Willie Nelson in "Baby It's Cold Outside!" What a strange combination- Norah and Willie, and what a strange song to imagine them singing together- but it was FABULOUS!

The album "Featuring Norah Jones" was released to the public November 17th, and if you haven't bought it yet, this would make a wonderful addition to your music collection!

What did you do this summer?

Along with family vacations and trips to the zoo, General Mills teamed up with Nickelodeon´s The Penguins of Madagascar to bring the action-packed adventures of summer to your very own breakfast table.

Inside specially marked boxes of General Mills cereals, you´ll "commence operations" with one of five characters from The Penguins of Madagascar; Skipper, Rico, Kowalski, Private or King Julien. Each participating cereal contains one character launcher with mission details outlined on the back of the box including:

• Dive In, Soldier - Set an empty plastic cereal bowl on the table and try to pop your launcher into it. Wear a helmet or you´ll be squid bait.
• Longest Propulsion Launcher - Challenge your troops to see who can launch their character the furthest. Go long or go back to the zoo.
• Target Practice - Create a landing zone with a spoon and try to strategically drop your character into the sweet spot. Hit the target or go back to the drawing board.
• Clear the Wall - Do you have enough projectile pop to push your launcher over the top of the box? Proceed launchin´ troops, earn those wings!

Each character is unique and has their own specific role, and together, they´re a team with lots of character. With five character launchers to collect, make a splash by trying to successfully complete all of their missions.

Lisa Whelchel is a Christian Actress, Author, speaker for Women of Faith, and fellow homeschooling mom. She was the child star "Blair" in Facts of Life. Her experiences, beginning in the filming of Facts of Life, pwere what began her journey that is described among the pages of Friendships for Grown Ups. As an independant individual most of her life, she had a hard time understanding what real friendship is.

Lisa is a bit of an open book. Her no-holds-barred style welcomes you in, and makes you feel like you're talking to a friend.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has the "loner" mentality. I have tendancies to need personal space often, and there were many parts of this book I could easily relate to!

Adopted at birth in Malaysia, Johnny Tan came to the United States in 1980 to attend college at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Here, he began a journey that led him into crossing paths with various women he admiringly referred to as Mom. It is the inspiration, support and life skills that Johnny received from his moms that have guided him towards his pursuit for personal excellence.

After college, Johnny worked in the restaurant industry for 18 years. He retired from a successful career as Chief Operating Officer in 2001, to begin a new vocation of running his own business.

Living by his very own personal vision and mission statement, Johnny continually uses his gift of creativity to enrich the lives of those who know him and for his community through his fellowship and leadership ability.

Johnny is also an accomplished amateur ballroom dancer. He has performed with his dance partners for more than 10 years at various ballroom and charity events in Louisiana and Texas.

He currently resides in Dallas, Texas.

I definitely have a heart for our military families. They make sacrifices on a daily basis that most of us cannot imagine. While my husband's cousin was serving his most recent of multiple deployments to Iraq, his wife's grandfather died, his son graduated, and his family endured a gas leak at their residence. Throughout all of these major events, he couldn't just come home and help- he was serving his country.

This isn't an isolated incident- it happens every day. Wives pick up the pieces while their husbands are gone for months at a time. Children across the US are without their fathers and mothers who are serving our country. Yet many of us don't stop to consider how life-altering a parent being gone can really be to a child.

Anne M. Stratford has written a beautiful book to help the children of our soldiers.

My Daddy is a Soldier is a one-of-a-kind, heart tugging book that is beautifully illustrated, and covers all of the emotions that a child must go through while his or her parent is serving our country. In the book, the child feels a sense of pride, a great deal of sadness, and shows his bravery while his father is overseas. The resounding theme throughout, "I CAN DO IT!" help a child to keep his head up while his mother or father are serving our country.

As I read the book to my children, they all had to look "one more time" at all the pictures throughout the book. It is very well illustrated- the pictures are wonderful. Like many children's books, the pages rhyme, helping to keep the child's attention.

About the Author

Anne M. Stratford had a successful sales career, and finally left it at the age of 41 to pursue her life-long dream of writing children's books. This is the first of what I hope to be MANY that she will write! We truly enjoyed this book.

Kandi is the funnest, funkiest, jazziest, sassiest song I can think of at the moment. And I can truely say there are NO SONGS on this CD I don't enjoy!!

The things I love the most about this product are:

MagnaPods are up and ready to use in seconds. Literally.
You simply remove the metal sheet from the packaging, stick it on the inside of your cabinet, and you’re ready to roll!
The magnets in the organizers are very strong! They held my heaviest items, and didn’t even slide on the metal sheet.
The plastic organizers are very sturdy! I’m rough on things, and I haven’t hurt them yet! :)
The plastic organizers are movable- perfect for fickle people like me!
They are VERY affordable!
They ship quickly, so if you are in organizing mode, you won’t lose your momentum by the time they arrive!
The customer service is fast to respond!!

MagnaPods were designed to hold your lipstick, cosmetic brushes, applicators, etc, and always keep them within easy reach.

I also used them to hold items that need to be kept out of a child’s reach, such as medical bulbs, scissors, an Epipen, medicines, etc!

In this view, you can see that I have used it to help organize permanent markers, razors, etc! You definitely don’t want your toddler getting hold of those!

I adore my craft room as well. I think this product would be GREAT in a craft room or office space. Besides being able to hold scissors and pens, as pictured above, I would love to store craft items such as threads, buttons, pins, cutters, stamps, glues, hot glue sticks, etc in the MagnaPod!

Boutique Kismet is a fabulous jewelry store on Etsy. Stephanie, the creator, has an eye and a talent for unusual and attractive combinations. The jewelry in her Etsy store is truly one of a kind. I have also found that her creations are quick to become conversation pieces when worn in public!

Boutique Kismet sent me the Denise Bracelet in Pink to review! Take a look at this gorgeous piece of jewelry!!

Isn't it amazing? It looks INCREDIBLE with a black dress!!

The things I love most about this bracelet are:

How well it's made! Let's be frank. Many pieces of homemade jewelry are not well made at all. Often, I've bought a piece of jewelry from a friend, just to have it fall apart days later. This is not the case with Kismet Jewelry. I have worn this piece almost every day since it arrived, and it is as strong as day 1! In truth, my 3 year old has snagged it off my vanity more times than I can count... and it's still holding strong!
The design! The colors are an amazing combination. The spacers are perfectly placed, and the beads are of great quality!
The closure. The clasp is easy to close, yet it fits perfectly with the design of the bracelet! I find it annoying when a homemade bracelet has a cheap clasp, or one that is impossible to hook, just to make it "work with the bracelet." Kismet went out on a limb to combine functionality with design!
The comfort! This is really a comfortable bracelet! It's not too heavy, and it lays comfortably on your wrist. It's not wiry or stiff, so it moves with you.

I plan to order some more jewelry from Kismet Boutique. I strongly suggest you check out her store and do the same! My current favorite costume earrings cost $25 at Target. My favorites on the Kismet Boutique site are $12!! I would pay that all day long to get a homemade, quality piece of jewelry!! Wouldn't you??

I woke up to a sheep lying in my yard this morning. It would not be so strange if we didn't live in a CITY, on a GOLF COURSE. Strange things happen to me. I'm a magnet for "wierd."
Just thought I'd share (notice the golf course maintenance crew in the background, working away behind Mr. Sheep!)...
