Do the Dishes

I had been doing the dishes once a week on Tuesdays, but the schedule has gone off track and I don't know where it is anymore. And the dishes don't go anywhere. They just wait and wait. Seems, too, that lately, right after I do them, they are all back in the sink. How do they do that?!

I wonder if Santa will ever bring me a dishwasher.

Who Moved Me?

I went to vote at my local town hall, as I have done for the last decade or so. We are a small town, everyone at least recognizes each other, if isn't downright related. Hellos all around. They even know me, or more accurately, they know where I live. So, we look for me in the election book, as we always do. No Ren. Not in any book, not under any spelling of any name in my name. Huh. I came back several hours later to find that, according to the Board of Elections, I had moved. To South Carolina. They even had a street address.

Surprised me and everyone else. So I had to vote via an affidavit ballot, swear that I am who I have always been, and have it witnessed by one of the ladies, for whom this was a first. I came home and googled myself, of course, to see if there is any record of me being in two places at once. Nope.

So here is my request: If any of you get any questions about me, please send them right to me here. I will assure them that I haven't gone anywhere. Thank you.

New Time

I was going to call this Daylight Stupid Time, but then realized that that happens in the spring. Now we are supposed to be moving to Standard Time, but even that isn't true across the entire time zone, so why bother? Daylight is short in the winter and long in the summer, and when the morning starts or the day ends doesn't follow a clock.

Dent in the Heliosphere

Back in December 2007, astronomers found that the sun's influence—its heliosphere—was not symmetrical. Somewhere out there, it came upon pressure from outside of its influence. I had planned on building a large art quilt, using beaded sunrays. That piece got delayed and I finally decided that it wasn't going to get done, so now I'm using its pieces for other things. The first use of a beaded ray had to be this version of Dent of the Heliosphere. Here it is.

Allergic Reaction

I ate something spicy. Ten minutes later, I turned red. My face, ears, hands, palms, feet. Bright red. No rash, not really itchy, but very hot and painful. It hurt. I stripped bare and washed the affected parts with cold water. It felt good. About a half hour later, it was all gone. Gone. No rash, no red, no itch, no pain. A little tingling. Amazing what the body might do. It speaks a language that I don't always understand.

Sort of like listening to my cat demand I-don't-know-what.

Put things in boxes, stack the boxes, and then try to remember what is in them while they teeter in the closet. Even with notes inked on the outsides, it is impossible to really and truly know what is hiding there.
