Busy Life And TTC -- What Works for Me!

I am still waiting for the “How to be an adult” manual to be published, but until then I guess we are continuing to just figure this whole thing out by ourselves (with a little help from Google)! Tyler & I have now been in our house for a whole month, & surprisingly the most common follow up question to “I just bought a house” is “So, when are you having kids”…. But seriously, even when you are trying to conceive, how do people expect you to answer that question? Yes, my husband & I are actively having sex, would you like to know more? But seriously, if you have a good answer come back please let me know!

Our family is blessed with a bundle of grandkids already – 5 year old twin nieces from my sister, & a 2 year old niece + twin boys on the way from Tyler’s sister – so the pressure to have kids has been generally light for us. However, we are ready to start our family, & it seems that my biological clock suddenly kicked in when I turned 30 because I went from pretty indifferent about the matter, to 100% gung-ho over this past Summer.

We “pulled the goalie” in June, & being the competitive human that I am, I immediately went out and bought all the pregnancy tests, sure that we would have a positive result in no time. By September, I started to realize that maybe I didn’t totally understand how my body worked after all, & needed to find some tools to help in our attempts to conceive.

When searching for an ovulation tracking system, I wanted something that would be quick + mess free to use, trackable from month to month, & being the millennial that I am, available from my phone. I connected with the Clearblue® Connected Ovulation Test System because it pairs the accuracy of a Clearblue® Ovulation Test with the convenience of an app – maximizing the chances of getting pregnant in a way like never before.

I have now been using the Clearblue® Connected Ovulation Test System for three months, & while we are still on our trying to conceive (TTC) journey, I now understand so much more about my body and its rhythms! This Clearblue® product is the first and only system to accurately track two unique hormones (LH & E3G) & connects with my phone so that I know when to test, and when my peak fertility has been detected. I now feel so much more knowledgeable about my monthly cycles than ever before and feel a little silly for not knowing how my body worked, like how using my personal hormone data, I have only a few fertile days a month & need to take advantage of that tiny window of opportunity! Thankfully, the Clearblue® Connected Ovulation Test System typically identifies 4 or more fertile days each cycle¹and reminds Tyler and I to take advantage by displaying a smiley face on the test stick. I like to take screenshots from when the app detects my hormone surges to send Tyler so he can join in on the fun & excitement of this chapter of our lives. I love living in Denver because there are always new restaurants/bars/hiking trails to check out, & fun activities from the city to the mountains. Recently I wore this lacy top (now on sale here) for a night of exploring in the RiNo neighborhood & found a new bar to add to our list of favorites. Nocturne is a funky little jazz bar - tasty cocktails + live music.

What ways do you find new local spots in your town? I use Localeur - an app of recommended spots, curated by vetted locals in each city. I use to contribute to the Nashville page, & still love staying updated on new places as they pop up - a yearly visit to enjoy the best of Nashville food & drink has to be an official tradition!

Happy Taco Tuesday! I am excited to share another local Denver spot with you, in partnership with car2go! When visiting the Mile High City, you have to put the RiNo neighborhood on your list for mural peeping and brewery hopping, but The Source is also a must visit spot in this hip area just north of Downtown. Located in a gorgeously restored warehouse, The Source has options for everyone - a brewery (featuring sours, my favorite is the rosé!), yummy farm-to-table restaurant, small batch liquor store, whole animal butcher, florist, coffee shop, bakery & one of my favorite taco spots - Comida!

My usual Christmas present M.O. is to purchase a few presents each month so that by the time November rolls around, all of the people have been crossed off my list & the presents are all ready wrapped & ready to go by Thanksgiving... I know, I was the annoying overachiever kid who always wanted a gold star.

This year however is very different, & I'm freaking out! The intensity of our whole home buying process threw a wrench in my plans, & I haven't even thought about presents since we started the house hunt in the Spring... meaning, I have crossed off no names, & am looking at Thanksgiving looming straight ahead with ZERO presents stashed away (plus a bank account that I have already mentally squirreled away for appliances + furniture).

So this year, I am going to have to buy all of my presents in the next month, on a budget & am looking at uncharted territory! It's the freaking weekend & I am so excited to spend a weekend curled up in our new house, on our new couch, but maybe a backyard picnic is in order too!

When you are a one car family, a girl has sometimes got to get creative when a donut craving kicks in! I partnered with car2go + Localeur to share 3 of my favorite Denver spots & first up is Voodoo Doughnut! You might know them for their crazy flavors (Bacon Maple!? Voodoo Doll Doughnut!?), & yes they have plenty of wild ones, but also serve up lots of other eye catching + yummy options too! Find Voodoo in the middle of Colfax Ave, nearby other favorites like Illegal Petes + many vinyl shops & dive bars to round out a perfectly hipster afternoon - if it isn't on Insta, it didn't happen!

If you haven't downloaded the Localeur app yet, you are missing out! I use Localeur when I travel to a new city to find local spots, specially recommended by verified locals. Heck, I use it here in Denver too as I am still learning about all of the hidden gems of the Mile High City. I used to contribute to the Nashville Localeur page, & know that all contributors take great joy in sharing local spots to fellow locals and visitors alike so that you can truly experience a city like you live there!

I have just recently discovered the magic that is car2go. They have a fleet of Mercedes Benz sedans & SUVs that are super luxurious + easy to use! I guess I expected ride sharing to be a little grimy + a lot of hassle, but all of my car2go experiences have been exactly the opposite! Our favorite neighborhood, RiNo, always has lots of car2go cars parked within walking distance, & I feel quite a bit like James Bond walking up to a car and letting myself in.

This outfit was perfect for a recently sunny Fall day here in Denver - I might sound like a broken record, but let me proceed to explain how everyone of these items is my FAVORITE!

I have a hard time dropping $88 for a single shirt, but I am trying to retrain myself to live by my "fewer, better things" motto. This shirt is amazing - from the bell sleeve details, to the flirty lip print, + optional neck button - that I don't feel guilty wearing it on repeat. This blouse was spot on for a recent blogger brunch (with velvet heels!), under my puffer vest for an afternoon of watching football at a sports bar, & with distressed jeans for boutique hopping on a lazy Sunday.

While I might be a reluctant trend trier, one trend I have jumped on HARD is distressed denim, & now I am adding a high/low hem to my jeans & feeling like I am so LIT... are we still using LIT? These jeans have the perfect amount of stretch, the light wash is refreshing & they work great for petites!

When it comes to Fall accessories, I am currently all about a bold purse and understated jewelry. This Fossil hobo bag comes in 4 perfect for fall shades, but I'm a little biased and think my cranberry color is the best! Looking to add extra storage to your larger purses? I swear by these Mulberry & Grand canvas pouches. I have the unicorn one, but might have to also pick up this SASSY one! I've had my M monogram necklace since I took my man's last name almost 4 years ago, but scooped up this minimalist monogram style necklace for a few girlfriends on my Christmas list already, like the good little elf that I try to be.

After peeking at the 15 day forecast for Denver last night, I think tomorrow is our last chance for temps in the 80s for a while. I LOVE Fall, & one of my favorite parts is that it keeps you guessing about what to wear. Some days you get to squeeze out one more appearance in your favorite maxi dress, & the next you are bundled up eyelashes to ankles in knits + layers. What can I say, I like variety!

I know this might seem silly, but before I moved from Nashville to Denver, I was really naive about seasons in other parts of the country. I had always lived in the South, & it was my understanding that Summer basically continued straight through to Thanksgiving, with a day or two of crisp evenings to break up the sweaty, humid block of April - November. I could write a whole post about the pros of moving away from where you grew up, but I digress...

I love this dress because it lets me frolic in in the sun like Summer never ended, but the moody dark florals remind everyone that I'm not crazy, I understand that it's about to get real chilly & is indeed nearing the end of October... am I the only one that picks out clothing based on what will make me look least crazy to strangers, while still embracing my fully wacky personality?

Since Tyler and I knew we were moving out of our first Denver neighborhood - River North Arts District or RiNo for those in the know - we spent our last few weekends there making sure we had explored every nook and cranny! This outfit was perfect for stopping by the cute boutiques (no wasteful plastic bags for me, I've got my own giant one!), hitting up a few of the yummy breweries, & strolling down alleys to find new murals. If you have a visit to Denver on your list, make sure you hit up Larimer Street in the RiNo area - there is a bit of construction going on, but don't be deterred, there are many hidden spots waiting to be discovered!

You know those people who are always so well dressed, but when you ask them where they got their knockout piece, they tell you it is vintage/thrifted/super old... SO annoying, right? Well I want to be one of those people!

I love the idea of buying less NEW things, & instead finding things that will be new to me! Not only would it be cheaper, but better for the plant too! I waste so much by always rushing out to purchase items brand new. I'm sure other people feel that way too!

I think the hardest part about thrifting is hunting down & finding a specific item & the vast amount of time it takes to find success. I know there are lots of apps out there for this now - from clothes, to furniture, to every day items - but I still haven't perfected the art! Or is it better to find a regular routine to go in person to local shops... but what neighborhood is the best? How do you narrow down the options!?!

Tyler & I are thick in the middle of moving to our new house & while I am over the moon to celebrate every possible "holiday" (national cupcake day is a holiday, right?) in our first home, I am also looking forward to my first Thanksgiving shared with my in-laws in Oregon.

For years, my Oregonian husband only took me to his home state during the Summer, when it was drop-dead gorgeous, with hopes that I would want to move there one day. And he was right, Oregon is a perfect place to be in the Summer - sunny vineyards, crisp coastal whale sightings, rolling hills, & hip Portland patios.

Last year, after 7 years together, Tyler was finally brave enough to invite me to Oregon for Christmas, & I absolutely loved it! Yes, it was rainy/cloudy the entire time, but the temperatures were mild & the landscape so lush! The rain makes everything a vivid green, I don't know why I imagine it before, I just assumed everything just died in the Winter like I grew up with in the South.

I am so thankful for all of the travel opportunities I have had, each one teaching me more about the world outside of my own selfish bubble. And it turns out, everywhere I have visited has had a beauty all its own - don't even get me started on my new found respect of the desert since moving West...

I also love that I have my travel routine down to an art, leaving behind the over-packing days of my youth, discovering that it isn't what I take with me, rather about what I discover along the way. My favorite travel outfit is my definition of comfort + style & always includes a tunic top & stretchy leggings. Coloradans style is much more legging friendly & I love using WikiBuy to find affordable leggings, especially fun printed ones!

When planning what I pack, I always use a carry-on size bag - bet I could do a month out of a carry on at this point! To maximize my carry-on space, I can't recommend my travel cubes any more. Whether you use them to pack by day, style of clothes (tops, pants, etc.), dirty vs. clean items, or outfit (my favorite), I always find more space in my bag when using them! My husband recently spotted my packing cubes & was so jealous, that I picked him up his own set using WikiBuy. Can you believe that all the cubes I'm holding in my hand, fit in that carry-on!? You betcha!

I keep finding new ways to justify adding another striped shirt to my closet, & yet another has found its way to me. It is officially official - Tyler & I are first time homeowners in Denver, Colorado! After 8 years of living together in apartments/townhouses, where we have had to fight for parking, battle the elevator to take the pugs out, & listen to our shared wall neighbor's questionable music choices, we have a place ALL OUR OWN! We had our offer accepted in July, signed the papers in August, but had to allow to previous home owner to stay as a renter until October as part of our offer conditions (have you heard about how hot the Denver housing market is!?)... and I have been counting down the days till we could get the keys, and start the next chapter. I cannot wait to show the pugs our amazing back yard, outsmart the snow in our garage, & host a million for-no-reason-at-all get togethers in our house. It isn't huge, but it is perfect for us, & I literally could not be more excited. IT. IS. OURS!

After struggling with establishing ourselves in our new state over the past year, I guess we have to call Colorado HOME now! Thankfully, The Home T hooked me up with my own Colorado sweatshirt so I can sport my new home state pride (always an Arkansan in my heart!), & it is doubly appreciated since Colorado decided to have a SNOW STORM today, & this sweatshirt could not be more cuddly + soft!

endless Summer

While many declare Labor Day the END of Summer, I recognize the symbolic end of Summer/start of school, but always wear my "summer" styles until the official transition to Fall - Friday September 22nd in case you want to put it in your planner :)

In fact, like many in Game of Thrones, us here in Colorado, know that Winter is indeed coming, & I plan to wear my warm weather pieces until I can't for the remainder of the year, + well into 2018!

I declare this transitional time of year "buy-Summer-clothes-on-sale-&-wear-the-heck-out-of-them" season! Treat yo self & take advantage of businesses already putting all their eggs in the Fall basket. I have recently discovered the brand Boohoo, & can't get enough of their flower child dresses. I feel like maybe I let a little of my free spirit style of dressing behind when I left Music City Nashville, & found myself in Denver - where most people think the idea of dressing up is putting on their best Patagonia jacket (only kind of kidding...).

I felt so comfortable wearing this outfit for a day of exploring in our current neighborhood - RiNo in Denver - before it isn't our neighborhood any more (1 month until we move into our first HOUSE!). We have so many spots left to explore in the area we have called home for the past 14 months, but somehow we always find ourselves right back at our favorite brewery - Epic.

My Most Versatile Piece: the moto jacket

I recently added this red moto jacket to my wardrobe, & I am finally able to admit that I have a moto jacket obsession. However, after realizing that this is the 3rd moto-style jacket hanging in my wardrobe, I also had to justify that this was going to indeed be a versatile, & well loved item that played nice with the other items already hanging in my closet. I don't have time or room for just so-so pieces that are going to be one-hit-wonders. Read on to see my trip down moto-jacket memory lane...

I picked up this suede moto jacket from Nordstrom last year, but my moto jacket love affair started long before! I found a super cheap Old Navy moto jacket back in 2012 (full outfit here) & I rocked a light blue moto jacket while in San Francisco in 2014 (outfit here).

But I realized that a moto jacket truly was a serious staple in my closet when looking back through my blog archives at all the times I have worn my H&M faux leather moto jacket. While it has made more than 20 appearances here on the blog + countless more in my daily life, it still looks as good as the day I bought it! (links to all outfits below collage)

Once I had all of these photos together in one place, I was surprised at how versatile the moto jacket had been - from adding edge to denim shorts, texture to a tulle skirt, season transition with maxi dresses, layers with jeans & so many other styles! So it made sense that for me, & my closet, a moto-jacket is a piece that deserves being found in multiples. This might not be the case for everyone's closet, but I certainly recommend this practice if you are considering adding a duplicate (but not identical item to your closet). My thought process for making this and other decisions when buying new clothes:

Do you already get decent use out of the similar items in your closet?

Can you plan at least 3 outfits with the new piece + items you already own?

Is this a piece that feels YOU? (aka, not just a trend)

In my book, I have to be able to say a firm YES to all 3 for an item to come home - & I have another outfit featuring my new red moto-cutie later this week! She's a real winner!!

As a middle school teacher, I take my Summer break time very seriously, & am very fortunate to have a partner who understands that my relaxation time is sacred! Between the beginning of June & the end of July, you can find me by the pool, with a book + iced coffee in my hand. This is my definition of bliss!

This Summer I took advantage of my Denver Public Library Card & read at least a book a week, but the 5 books below have stayed with me, & are the ones that I have been recommending to all my friends. One of my favorite ways to find new books to read is to look at books that are being made into movies, that way I know they have strong characters + a juicy plot!

Have you read any of these books? Any other great ones topping your list? Since school started back, I have decided to read all of the Harry Potter books (I missed the train the first time around 20 years ago), but am always looking for a great new read!

Colorado Adventures

Summer might be in its waning days, but I haven't finished crossing items off my Summer bucket list & certainly plan on keeping the adventures going well on into Fall.

I might still be working on feeling like Colorado is *home*, but they beauty of this state has totally started to seep into me & I keep discovering new places to explore. I guess I like to hike now, & have found that they best way to travel in the woods is with a backpack.

When looking for a new backpack, I wanted to find something that was unique, high quality & durable - not an easy search! In the process I stumbled upon Waremakers. I love that they offer so many carefully curated + hand-made items, all stunning & super functional! I too believe in the motto of "fewer, better things" & could easily see so many of these pieces replacing even more of my mass produced, cheaply made bags/organization products. I picked this backpack cutie from Sac Marin - it comes in several colors & sizes too!

Talk about a dream dress! I have been obsessed with poppies ever since I convinced myself that I was indeed Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz & love the amazing print on this super comfortable, breezy dress that also has pockets! But that's not it... wait for it... it's only $39!

Work Dress? Check!

I picked up this gingham shirtdress thinking it would be a great work dress & while I was certainly not wrong, I also love it as an after work look too! My favorite trick of adding a belt to change the look of a dress strikes again + my Summer-to-Fall transition accessories make this a perfect end-of-Summer look.

As far as being a work dress, I'm pretty sure that 3 other teachers at my school saw me in this dress & have already purchased it. Our historic school building is gorgeous, but not air conditioned, so we are all looking for pieces to wear in the crazy heat now, and well into Fall. The shape of this J.Crew Factory shirtdress is the right mix of being loose, but not baggy. I think it is so flattering & I can't wait to pick up some of their other shirtdress options.

Today marks the start of week 4 as a 6th grade Engineering teacher. After being in a 7th grade Science classroom for the last 3 years, I am LOVING my new position so much! The following is a love story between a girl & her new razor. While this post is in no way sponsored by Harry's Razors... Harry if you are listening, holler at your girl!

The other day I ran out of razors & didn't 1.) want to drive to the store to get more or 2.) pay $10+ for a single freaking shave... so I did what every woman who shares a bathroom with a man would do... I stole a razor from my husband. AND OH MY GOODNESS HOW HAVE THEY BEEN HIDING THIS FROM US!?!?!

I have always shelled out for the expensive "Goddess inspired" razors because hey, I'm a GODDESS & I deserve goddess inspired razors gosh darn it! I honestly never even thought about it - that's what the going price is for a shave, who am I to rock the boat of goddesses?!

And of course, I didn't admit to my husband that I had used one of his Harry's razors, & just went on my merry, hair-free way. But then I got caught.

We were riding in the car, & from the driver's seat, Tyler reaches over to put his hand on my knee. But this time my knee was different - instead of being a confusing combo of covered in scratches + covered in stubble, he remarked that my knee was as smooth as a cue ball! A FREAKING CUE BALL - that is seriously goals, right!? All of my other razors had been telling me that I was a GODDESS, but leaving my skin with less than goddess results. Sure, I like to hurry with my shave job & this usually results in missed spots + several bleeding wounds, but Harry's gets me & the super sharp razors GET. THE. JOB. DONE.

I was so caught up in my husband's compliment that I came clean about my razor double cross. Turns out Tyler has been getting Harry's razors every month for CHEAP + had an extra handle, so now I'm set up with my own rig + monthly subscription of blades... again for super CHEAP!

After using the same razors for years, it did take a couple of shaves to get used to the feel + shape of the Harry's Razors, so here are two things to be aware of if you are switching from overpriced "women's" razors, to these unisex models. 1. They don't have much of a moisturizing strip, so using some sort of shaving cream is needed (I never used any with my GODDESS razors). 2. The blade is a little wider than I was used to + the blades are super sharp, so be careful in any sensitive areas!

P.S. Just looked into it more & you don't even have to have a subscription to order! This 3 blade set is only $15 (love the orange handle!) + upgrade to the metal handle set for only $25.

Naot sandals

I am always on the hunt for amazing brands to add to my list of conscious consumerism products, & I can't wait to tell you about Naot today! Naot (means oasis in Hebrew) shoes have been made in Israel since their factory was founded in 1942, & they have maintained their commitment to quality + comfort since the beginning. I love the natural cork insoles that are found in all Naot shoes - they form to your foot like footprints in the sand & these sandals certainly provide all day comfort!

I love these ombre sandals for Summer, but am already dreaming of cooler weather to sport these fabulous booties. They even have styles that I can see my husband wearing as well - aren't these perfect!?

Nordstrom Sale Season: Best of!

I can't be the only one that loses a bit of my will power/common sense when I see the word SALE! Everyone has been talking about the Nordstrom sale & I totally agree that there are some quality pieces included in the mark-downs, but I also want to point out some amazing pieces that you should put on your radar, because you shouldn't base what is in your closet just around what is on SALE. Whether you are looking for pieces for next season, or wanting replacements for well loved warm weather items, the 23 pieces below are either things that I personally own & LOVE, or items that are on my wish list. We are talking buy & love for many seasons & trends to come pieces - we are talking buy in multiples they are so good if you ask me!

First up, 12 well loved items that I myself own & highly recommend. I picked these pieces because I believe that they could fit many different personal styles, & in my experience, are well made/will last for years.

1. Suede Leather jacket. I purchased this suede leather jacket in the Spring & have shown it off on the blog paired with a dress here & jeans here. This jacket is at the top of my "must buy" list because it is not only so beautifully made, it is sturdy & feels expensive. I got mine in the "coffee bean" color + the size small fits perfectly! If the $188 price tag is too much, I would keep an eye on this super similar, but more affordable style for restocks.

2. Jack Rogers flipflops. I've already said it a million times, but this sandal in "Platinum" is seriously money for warm weather dressing (pun intended!). I got my latest pair of Jack Rogers sandals for our honeymoon in 2014 (outfit here) & they look just as pretty in an outfit from last month (full post here) - worth every penny if you ask me!

3. Ray Ban aviators. The green/gold color combo is so classic! I purchased these for myself for Christmas a few years ago (I'm spoiled & often pick out my own presents... sorry not sorry) & while I love my cheap, trendy sunglasses, my Ray Bans will forever & always remain favorites in my collection.

4. Clare V leopard clutch. Another piece that has a pricey price tag, but once I calculate the cost per wear on this piece it is certainly affordable. This is such a statement piece, but also goes with everything & I am always gravitating towards it, even over the many other eye catching clutches in my closet (I have a problem).

5. X-strap sandals. I had a $10 pair of similar sandals & after 2 Summer of super hard wear (so easy to slip on & GO!), the sole started to wear off, so I just picked up these and they are perfect (worn in an outfit post here). I love how streamlined the black color is, but the olive green suede might need to come home with me! At only $35 dollars a pair, heck I might just have to get the leopard pair too!!

6. Nars matte lipstick in "Heat Wave". Forever my favorite shade of warm weather red. One of the only lipsticks that I have completely used up & re-ordered within a 365 day period. The $28 price tag might feel like a LOT if you are used to buying drug store products (certainly did for me the first time), but the matte formula stays PUT & is worth it!

7. White lace dress. As other reviewers pointed out about this dress, it is tighter than it looks on the model, but the fabric feels high end, & overall I think it wears much better than the $33 price tag might suggest! I love this dress for date night (full outfit here - I'm wearing a Small), & think it will transition to next year too! Low price, fully stocked, MOVE QUICK!

8. Ruffle dress. I bought this dress to wear to Summer weddings & loved the color options + fun ruffles (full outfit post here). If you are between sizes, definitely size up as it runs slightly small, but if you are a size 0/2 & like either blush or navy, you are in luck because this bad boy is still in stock, but on sale for under $40, it won't last for long I imagine!

9. Bobbi Brown eyes & cheeks. Bobbi Brown's "teenage beauty" book was one of my earliest experiences with cosmetics, & this brand has been in heavy rotation in my makeup bag ever since! This palette has all the most flattering colors for eyes and cheeks, & during the sale is discounted from $365 down to $98.

10. Madewell leather tote. This classic beauty is $60 off during the sale, & while I already have one (& use it for everything from trips to the grocery store to lugging papers to grade from school to home and back), at this price, I am thinking about Christmas presents for my female family members & friends too. I'm thinking you will be the hit of Christmas if you tuck this pretty thing under the tree :)

11. Steve Madden heels. I literally do not care how over worn these shoes are by bloggers. They are flattering, generally comfortable for what they are, & go with everything! I think $80 is a great price for these, & as clumsy as I am about walking around cracks in heels, these have held up great & I am going on 3 years with my last nude pair, + picked up a pair in black 2 years ago (they still look brand new!)

12. Lace bra. I always forget how expensive high quality bras can be until I look in my underwear drawer & realize that they all need to be replaced. Last year during the anniversary sale I found this style of bra, went in to have myself measured (Victoria Secret tells you lies... no way around it), & purchased 2. After a year of rotating them for daily wear + hand washing, they both look great, but I'm still thinking about ordering 2 more because this is the most comfortable + flattering underwire/full coverage bra that I have ever owned & it is currently $24 off during the sale + available in 8 colors.

Next, the 11 items topping my wish list. These are all either pieces that I am looking to purchase as replacements/duplicates for other much loved items, or fit with known "holes" in my closet that I have been looking to fill (I keep a list in my phone's notes so I don't get sidetracked)!

1. Long, open cardigan. This piece is part of the sale, under $50 & available in 7 colors. I have this same sweater from 2015 (full outfit here) & love it so much that I want to add another to my collection. What color would you pick!?

2. Panama hat. My J.Crew Panama hat is always in heavy rotation during the Summer (see the many examples that have made their way to the blog here), but I have been looking for one with a slightly wider brim, & in a natural color - this one looks to be a winner! Under $40, I'm sold!

3. Suede wedge sandals. Despite what you might have heard, Denver actually experiences mild weather well into the Fall & I'm dreaming about heading into September/October with these suede wedge beauties. It looks like the "tan/saddle" color will match my suede jacket perfectly (as mentioned above) & while they aren't on sale, the reviews sound awesome & I'm ready to check out!

4. Calf hair leopard sandals. Another piece that isn't on sale, but has stellar reviews & just look at them - they will go with everything! I have only ever owned UGG brand boots, but I'm willing to bet that these are as comfortable as they are stylish. Wear them now till it gets cold, and then bust them out on the first sunny day of 2018 - these are classic!

5. Camel coat. I purchased a camel coat from Chicwish in 2014 & was surprised by how much I loved it (full outfit post here - one of my all time faves!) Unfortunately, at the end of last winter (3 years of hard wear) it looked ready to put in the donation pile, & I have been on the hunt for a replacement since. This Lauren Ralph Lauren coat is on sale for $140 ($80 off the retail price) & I love the minimalistic/modern cut that Ralph Lauren is known for. Also available in black & gray... what color would you choose?

6. Ruffle Bell sleeve blouse. The ruffle & bell sleeve trends don't seem to be going anywhere any time soon, + I can imagine this top paired with a fabulous faux-fur vest for Fall, or with a fit and flare skirt come next Spring. The baby blue color is calling my name, but the other 4 colors are equally as gorgeous too! Under $32 during the sale, & currently well stocked!

7. Rebecca Minkoff Mini-crossbody. I purchased my first Rebecca Minkoff purse for my 26th birthday present to myself (full post here - look at that BABY with red hair, crazy how long ago that feels!). I still have, love & wear that bag, but it is starting to show its age & I have been looking for my next RM bag (love her, her brand, & her designs!). I adore the whip-stitched detail on the strap, the over-sized buckle detail, + fabulous tassels. Help me decide: sandstone or dusty blue? (my current one is gray and I need to replace it).

8. Black skinny jeans. I have several pairs of jeans/pants from DL1961 including their ultra flattering instasculpt designs. This wardrobe staple is on sale for $80 off, making them under $100! Needing some additional black skinny jean options? I'm also loving this pair from PAIGE, $60 off during the sale period.

9. Distressed skinny jeans. While uncertain about the "mullet" trend in jeans I purchased this distressed pair with the high/low hem detail & love them - like 3+ times per week LOVE - so if you are a size 30 you are in luck because it is the only size left & going for only $35! Everyone else, this pair of distressed skinny jeans are only $45, the perfect wash, & fully stocked in sizes 24 - 31.

10. Block heel sandals. Another replacement item. The chunky heel, perfect cognac color, and under $70 price tag make these a great buy!

11. Nars face palette. I have great confidence in Nars makeup products (see my love for their lipstick above) & this palette looks amazing! I have been running through my blush/highlighter/bronzer palette & need to purchase a new one before I get to a critical outage situation! I love that this one has 4 shades of blush + universally flattering bronze/highlighter options too.

Phew, there is my 1,800+ word thesis about what you should be buying with your clothing budget this month! Don't let something convince you to buy it just because it is on SALE! Plan your purchases and make sure that your closet is filled with only items you LOVE! I always make myself imagine purchasing things at full price to make sure that I am making a meaningful purchase, not an impulse purchase prompted by our instincts to capitalize on SALES!
