Hi,
Most of you know about the cats that are and have been at Pasadena Humane since 12-15-2010. ( http://www.pasadenahumane.org/site/PageServer)I heard the news (TV channel 2 CBS) stating that San Mateo Shelter received 20 of my cats. Mainly domestic short hair. Also, on Pasadena Humane's website about 11 cats are listed. They are the ones with A#'s starting with A281xxx.
On January 18, 2011 during a meeting with Pasadena Humane, my attorney & I ---
I signed over 100 cats to PHS. This was a decision that I really did not want to do, but did on the advice of counsel.
Why am I sending this email???
To update any of you who know people who want a very nice kitty and will give any of them a great home.
Please tell everyone to network and try to save the lives of these kitties.
I have not been told where these cats have been sent, but as the news comes out...then maybe we will know.
Southern Cal. Cat Adoption Tails who now operate the Cat Adoption Center at Pasadena Petsmart have kindly taken in 10 of the cats who were still in my custody. These are cats 6 years +. They are in the store and ready to be seen and for adoption.
I am working on a facebook page which will be done soon.
Thank you for being nice people and caring.

UPDATE: Success! County authorities listened to the thousands urging them to keep Wolf Mountain Sanctuary open. Thank you to everyone who signed!

Wolf Mountain Sanctuary rescues wolves and fosters them in a sanctuary in Southern California, as well as educating visitors about the plight of this threatened species. However, local officials recently shut down Wolf Mountain Sanctuary and demanded that the sanctuary repermit, a process this nonprofit organization cannot afford.

Even though Wolf Mountain Sanctuary complied with all regulations and held an Exhibitor License since 1987, the County of San Bernardino will not allow the organization to continue its work until it files paperwork to receive a new Exhibitor License. The sanctuary does not have the resources to repeatedly file paperwork and pay the accompanying exorbitant fees. And it shouldn't have to.

The work of Wolf Mountain Sanctuary is too valuable and unique to be abandoned with so little cause. Urge the County of San Bernardino to allow them to continue protecting wolves from extinction

Save Florida Dolphins From Their Toxic Lagoon!

2011-02-26T12:45:00.000-08:00

Thanks to your efforts, counties surrounding Florida's Indian River Lagoon initiated a ban on the toxic fertilizers poisoning the lagoon's dolphins. But a new state bill could block the counties' fertilizer regulations.

Florida senators will vote on this bill Monday, February 28. Speak out today! »

This bill would force counties to adopt state-wide fertilizer regulations -- which don't go far enough to save the Indian River Lagoon dolphins.

Help urge Florida senators to vote NO. »

The Indian River Lagoon's dolphins are found diseased and emaciated, with brain lesions and skin-eating fungal infections from the poisons they must swim in.

Don't let Florida state legislature undo our efforts to save these dolphins! Tell Florida senators to vote "no" on this bill and allow counties to set their own fertilizer regulations. »

Hi My Friends,

I just received this from Care2 and wanted to share this with everyone of my friends who care. Thanks in advance from Geronimo Rubio.

Tell your Senators to keep wild land protection strong

2011-02-23T19:23:00.000-08:00

Last week, the House Majority -- on a virtual straight party-line vote -- passed an extreme bill that terminated funding for dozens of important environmental programs. One example: the bill would block Interior Secretary Salazar’s new policy that restored protection to millions of acres of wilderness -- quality public lands across the West.
If the bill becomes law, we will return to a Bush-era policy of degrading and even destroying America’s wilderness through oil and gas development, off road vehicle abuses, and other forms of development.
Help us stop this runaway train. Urge your Senators to stand firmly for the environment.

This radical legislation if passed in the Senate would:

Cut EPA’s budget by 30 percent and cripple the agency’s ability to reduce greenhouse gases that endanger public health and contribute to global warming;
Slash the Land and Water Conservation Fund by 87 percent;
Eliminate $1.2 billion in science funding needed to move away from fossil fuels towards sustainable, non-polluting sources of energy;
Prohibit EPA from enforcing Clean Water Act protections for thousands of American streams and wetlands, and eliminate all funding for the North American Wetlands Conservation Fund;
Cut in half funding for cleanup efforts in the Chesapeake Bay, Puget Sound, Long Island Sound, Great Lakes and Lake Champlain;
Eliminate all funding for the Forest Legacy Program, which restores ecosystems damaged by logging and other forms of development;
Cripple Endangered Species recovery efforts.

Meanwhile, the bill leaves untouched $4 billion in annual oil, gas and coal subsidies!
This legislation is reckless and extreme. Please, tell your SENATORS to oppose the House “Continuing Resolution”.
The Continuing Resolution would block Secretary Salazar’s new Wild Lands policy, which directs the Bureau of Land Management to identify wilderness-quality public lands and adopt management plans that protect them, while ensuring public input.
Please, help us ensure that Congress does not silence the new Wild Lands policy or the laws that protect our air, water, and lands from degradation. Tell your Senators that you support Secretary Salazar’s Wild Lands policy, and ask them to reject the assault of the House Majority on land protection and other programs that protect our air, water, and land.
Sincerely,
Kathy Kilmer

The budget fight, which could destroy a host of environmental laws and policies, now moves to the Senate. Tell your Senators to oppose the House “continuing resolution” and keep wild land protection strong.

Report All Gulf Wildlife Casualties

2010-07-11T10:17:00.000-07:00

Hi everyone,

Thanks to pressure from local and national wildlife groups, Unified Area Command (UAC) in charge of the oil disaster response will now protect the Gulf's endangered sea turtles from burning and skimming clean-up operations.

But UAC needs to do more to protect the wildlife threatened by the massive BP oil spill »

Protecting the sea turtles is a great first step, but we must ensure proper monitoring, reporting and appropriate intervention to protect Gulf wildlife in harm's way.

In fact, we still have no idea how many animals have been killed or injured in the spill and clean-up efforts because there is no public reporting of wildlife casualties. With millions of migratory birds headed straight for the oiled Gulf shores, we can't afford to wait.

The victory for sea turtles shows that the UAC will listen to our concerns about wildlife. We just need to speak up.

Add your voice. Tell the UAC to publicly report all wildlife casualties »

Pass H.R.5643: Prevent Unintended Death of Wildlife, Pets and People

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: Care2.com

When Brooke and Cliff Everest set out for a day of river rafting with their dog Bea, they never suspected the beloved spaniel would suddenly die. But that fateful day, Bea inspected a sheep carcass laced with Compound 1080.

H.R. 5643 would prohibit the use, production, sale, importation, and exportation of Compound 1080 and the use of sodium cyanide.

These two poisons, ranked Level 1 by the EPA for their high degree of acute toxicity, are used by Wildlife Services. Though intended to protect livestock from native predators like coyote, Compound 1080 and sodium cyanide are indiscriminate killers, and other wildlife (including endangered species), pets and people often fall victim.

In 2007, Wildlife Services admitted that it had internal issues with safely handling hazardous chemicals. Protect wildlife, pets, and people from unintentional and agonizing death by telling Congress to support H.R. 5643.

Puppy Mill Horrors (Watch the Video)

posted by: Cris Popenoe 20 hours ago

We've all heard about puppy mills that supply those sweet little puppies in pet stores.

Well, this video documents a raid of a puppy mill in North Carolina -- a state that, for the second year in a row, failed to pass a bill aimed at combating puppy mills by regulating commercial dog breeders.

Below, see what the inside of a puppy mill looks like and how the dogs are treated. And after watching it, I hope you'll never consider buying an animal from a pet store or breeder again. Always adopt!

Living Like Wolves

2010-07-11T10:03:00.000-07:00

How about behaving like a wolf today? Yes, I said wolf. Wolves are perhaps the most misunderstood of all animals. Often portrayed as vicious predators, they are truly wise and wondrous creatures.
As seen in the 2007 documentary, Living With Wolves, researchers Jim and Jamie Dutcher studied the Sawtooth Pack in an enclosed nature reserve for six years, and made many amazing discoveries. (www.livingwithwolves.org) Their findings revealed a completely different perspective on the creatures often associated with scary movies and full moons.
Here are a few of their “surprising” revelations. Wolves are affectionate, compassionate and loyal to their pack. Although there is an alpha male and female who lead the group, all adults have a role in raising the young. The resources of the pack are shared. Wolves care for the sick and wounded, and grieve deeply when a member is killed.
What I found most interesting in the documentary was the relationship of the omega male to the other animals. He appeared to be the least of the pack. He was not permitted to eat until after everyone else, he was frequently picked on, and generally seemed to get the “short end of the stick”. But when it came time to move the pack to another sanctuary, it was the alpha male who guided the fearful omega out of his cage. He would not be left behind.
When we look at the omega from the perspective of what he taught the other wolves, he clearly wasn’t the least important. This male allowed himself to be the ”last” in order for the rest of the wolves to learn survival skills. Without this training, they would not be able to protect themselves from outside predators. In actuality, the omega may be the most spiritually advanced of the wolf pack.

Pet Sales Ban in San Francisco Tabled

2010-07-11T09:59:00.001-07:00

Pet Sales Ban in San Francisco Tabled

The City of San Francisco has reviewed a proposal to ban the sale of all pets except fish. While it might be seen as extreme, there is some valid reasoning behind the proposal. If it had passed, San Francisco residents would have had to adopt a pet from an animal shelter or buy one from a store in another city. The problem at the center of the proposal is the impulse purchasing of pets by people who find they don’t want them not long after the purchase. Then they want to get rid of them and the poor animals wind up left at shelters where they are euthanized. Reportedly the problem is not such much abandoned cats and dogs, as it is small animals like hamsters. Hamsters are the number one euthanized animal at the city’s animal shelter.
The shelter’s small animal population currently is about six hamsters, nine rabbits, nine mice, nine rats, two guinea pigs, a bowl of goldfish, two birds, a leopard gecko, a bearded dragon and a hermit crab named Charlie. Thirty percent of small animals there are euthanized.
Pet store owners, of course, were very upset by the proposal, and said they might have gone out of business if it passed. Not to take a side one way or the other, but if it had passed, those small business owners could could have relocated. However, given the current economic times, they might not have been able to afford such moves. Even though the proposal has not been passed into law, at least it has drawn attention to the issue and perhaps there will be less purchasing of small animals like hamsters and gerbils. Perhaps the proposal can be amended to focus only on the small animals that are the most abandoned and most euthanized. Originally the proposal was intended to reduce the number of puppies sold that came from puppy mills.
Some of the reactions to the proposal:
Sarah Han – “Perhaps those who might otherwise buy a pet new will see that shelter animals are the pets “they’ve been searching for all along.”
Michael Yaki – “And if they allow the sale of animals through Craigslist or the classifieds, are we going to see the establishment of pet store speakeasies to consummate the delivery of the live, but otherwise prohibited, goods?”
Jeff Blyskal – “Ban hamster sales only, and let the sale of other pets continue.”

Save the Critically Endangered Florida Panther

2010-07-02T08:23:00.000-07:00

Hi everyone,

The Florida Panther is one of the most endangered species on the planet, with fewer than 100 alive today. Their already minimal habitat is disappearing, further jeopardizing this fragile population.

Urge Secretary Ken Salazar to save critical habitat for the Florida Panther. »

In June 2010, a panther was found dead, struck by a car along a road near Immokalee, Florida. This is the 13th Florida panther to die this year. It is a tragedy that these animals, with minimal habitat space, are forced to roam in dangerous territory, like highways and other human-populated areas.

Don't let the last Florida panthers be found lying in the road. »

To save the critically endangered Florida panther and end the dangerous collision of wild animals with human areas, we must protect the panthers' remaining habitat. »

Welcome to Calirfonia some New Family members...

2010-05-23T11:45:00.000-07:00

Now this is a great thing happening here. I love when The Great Spirits creations are welcome in the world and watched over like one of our own family. I Geronimo Rubio LOVE all of creation and respect it completely. Read below and enjoy the joy I felt when reading this article...

Love for the Earth

A few decades ago I was walking around in the New Hampshire woods, when I saw this beautiful spotted cat. I didn't know it was a Bobcat. I walked over and stoked his back, just like I would any house cat.

Well, if I hadn't had my Tai Chi reflexes, I'm pretty sure he would have taken my face off when he leaped at me. As it was, he sailed just past my head, when I twisted out of the way. When he landed on the ground he looked very surprised that I could move that fast

No. The Bobcat wasn't rabid or anything like that. He was just very insulted that I would take such liberties

The Moral :

Leave Bobcats alone. They are tough enough to beat you up, although they'd rather not bother

Californians Welcome Bobcats

to the Neighborhood

by Stephanie Feldstein
change.org
May 14, 2010

A bobcat and her two kittens have been spotted around an Orange County, California neighborhood for several days. Earlier this week, sheriff's deputies and Orange County Animal Care officers paid the little wild family a visit ... then they left. Ryan Drabek, interim director of OC Animal Care, said there's no reason to move these native animals since they're not sick, injured or aggressive.

In an era where police shoot deer in backyards, and several states are responding to human-bear encounters with expanded hunting seasons, it's pretty remarkable that they've decided to leave the bobcats alone.

Bobcats are predators, although the wild cats rarely cause any trouble with humans. But that doesn't protect them from being a popular target for hunters, especially since their coats so closely resemble the coveted pelts of their endangered cousins, the lynx. Yet, in this particular Orange County neighborhood, there seems to be a peace treaty between the species.

The Orange County Register reported that "residents mostly think they are getting a cool opportunity to see the animals interact. Though some are concerned about small pets and children, and others worry the bobcats will be harassed."

The bobcats seem to have taken up residence in a nearby greenbelt, but Mom spends much of the day perched on tree limbs or fences, in plain view. She appears unfazed by passing traffic, dog walkers or amateur wildlife photographers. But residents shouldn't be fooled into thinking she and her kittens are just large housecats. Drabek has warned people not to put out food or water, or get too close.

Even though the bobcat seems comfortable in the neighborhood, she'll most likely move out as soon as her kittens are a little older. It's critical that people keep their distance, both to avoid any conflicts and to allow her to raise her kittens in peace. As long as the truce holds between the bobcat family and their neighbors, we might actually be able to score a point here for human-wildlife coexistence.

This Is A Very BIG problem where in Tennessee...

2010-05-23T11:40:00.000-07:00

Hey everyone, Geronimo Rubio back at ya again. In my eyes, all of The Great Spirits creations should be treated with dignity & respect. When Laws of this neglected land don't provide that respect then someting needs to be done about it.

This came to me via MySpace from a friend and I think everyone should take a look at it, sign the petition and help do something about these insufficient laws. Do your part and make peace with The Great Spirit, Mother Earth and all the inhabitants of this world.

This Is A Very BIG problem where in Tennessee. Tennessee State Animal Cruelty Laws Are The Worst in the Nation. Animals are abused, neglected and disposed of inhumanely everyday, and most of the people get away with it because our laws are not strict enough. We need to stand up for these animals and say enough is enough. Please help me by signing these two petitions. We need a No Kill Shelter in our area and are doing our best to get one but I need your help to make that happen. Thank You! Our Loving Boys (Terrors they are) by Geronimo Rubio

2010-05-04T12:33:00.000-07:00

Hey everyone. I am reporting today on our Cats who are doing well (As you can see) and just to give you some insight of their daily routine.

Well to begin with, here they are, "The Loving Terrors", Specter & Monster. This is generally what they have planned all day. To eat, sleep and not much of anything else. That is during the day. But at night they are completely "Out of Control".

Does anyone else have this problem...lol...I understand that they are Hunter's, Nocturnal & very Territorial. I also understand that they enjoy playtime as much as we do. But I only wish they would be more playful and active during the day.

They just love to wake us up during the early morning hours by knocking things over, fighting, playing and plain planning their mischievous activities while me, Geronimo Rubio and my fiance, Vicky Ramirez sleep...lol.

Then you got the new addition to our family, Baby. He is generally calm all day & all night long. But I think it's because he is just getting use to the others and soon he will become the Terror at Night that they are...lol.

Oh how we are looking forward to that. But he is sooooooo cute that he will get away with everything less than Murder I am sure of this.

He was a stray on the streets of Coral Gables Florida here and we didn't want him to get ran over so we adopted him into the house and the family.

And then we have the Queen of the bunch, Bunny...Now she is mischievous in her own ways. But she is calm most of the time. We love our pets, they are family 100% and much more. Have you ever thought about Pet Therapy: Thoughts on Why We Love Our Pets, I have and do all the time. I know their very therapeutic and great companions. And I also know they love you unconditionally, always.

I often read books and articles about their behavior like For Example: The Cat Behavior Answer Book: Practical Insights & Proven Solutions for Your Feline Questions, great book and lots of great content for learning more about your cats. Another favorite of mine is Twisted Whiskers: Solving Your Cat's Behavior Problems, it dwells a little bit deeper into their mischievous behavior...lol.

Well thanks for reading and enjoy your day. Please read below to "Save Our Pets" going through some rough times now.

Everglades Corporate Park - IMPORTANT CORRECTION

Dear friends,

While there are many reasons to oppose Everglades Corporate Park, a chemical storage facility is fortunately not one of them. A chemical spill could very well happen on-site -- and impact Everglades wetlands, as well as our drinking water -- but it would happen as a result of construction, not long-term storage. The effect is the same, but the source of potential environmental damage is different.

This does not lessen our opposition to Everglades Corporate Park, and I hope the same goes for you. I deeply apologize for the miscommunication.

Please read the original e-mail, found below my name, and take action against Everglades Corporate Park.

- Adam Rivera

Imagine the Everglades, a gorgeous expanse of sawgrass that teems with life: alligators, wading birds, perhaps even a Florida panther on the prowl.

Now, imagine Everglades Corporate Park: a proposed 21-acre office park, including high rise office towers, built on top of the wetlands bordering our Everglades.

Imagine pollution from development and traffic entering the Everglades ecosystem. Imagine getting your drinking water from an aquifer directly underneath construction sites.

Actually, South Floridians don't need to imagine paving over the Everglades to make way for sprawling development and pollution. This is our reality. Everglades Corporate Park could become part of that reality unless we make our voices heard.

Tell Sunrise city commissioners not to build a corporate office park in the Everglades.

The Everglades is a beloved part of Florida's natural legacy. But pollution and development have claimed more than half of the historic Everglades.

Proposals like "Everglades Corporate Park" only push the Everglades closer to the point of no return. One major chemical spill would reach the aquifer that serves as a lifeline to the Everglades -- and also supplies South Florida with clean drinking water.

Click here right now to tell Mayor Roger Wishner and the Sunrise city commissioners to reject Everglades Corporate Park

Sincerely,
Adam Rivera
Environment Florida Field Organizer

USDA Cites University of Utah for AWA Violations

2010-04-29T11:46:00.000-07:00

Geronimo Rubio here to bring you some "EXTREMELY" disturbing news. I don't know about you, but this completely "PISSES ME OFF". WTF, only 9 violations. From what I saw in the video they all should be crucified. Who do these MOTHERF*@#*s think they are. What kind of "MENTAL MIDGETS" would come to do something like this. I only know one thing. My prayers will be stronger and stronger everyday that this kind of thing will soon cease to exists and that every SON of a B*#@H that participates in this kind of cruel and "Down Right Life Destructive" behavior will suffer The Great Spirits Wrath and feel the pain and suffering that he has brought to each and every one of this poor, innocent animals. Read on and watch the video if you can stomach it:

This just in: In response to PETA's undercover investigation of animal experiments at the University of Utah (the U) and the complaint that we filed with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U has been cited for nine violations of federal animal protection laws, including the following:

Causing a kitten to die from dehydration
Keeping calves restrained for days at a time without the ability to properly stand up or walk
Failing to provide adequate pain relief to a monkey after surgery
Failing to properly treat injuries in pigs
Allowing extreme crowding in guinea pig cages
Socially isolating a monkey without approval and failing to provide him with proper environmental enrichment
Performing surgery on a rabbit's eyes without proper approval

Prompted by complaints filed by PETA after our investigation, USDA representatives inspected the U and found exactly what our investigator had found: neglect, misery, and death in the animal laboratories. The school's response: Tom Parks, vice president of research, called these incidents of abuse and mistreatment "relatively minor offenses." Frightening, don't you think? Imagine if this remark had been made in reference to deaths and neglect in a nursery for human babies! Parks' casual attitude speaks volumes about exactly how animals are regarded by experimenters and others who have charge, custody, and oversight of animals in laboratories.
Of course, the USDA inspection does not include any incidents that we reported involving rats and mice because these animals are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act—the only federal law governing the treatment of animals in laboratories. Of course, rats and mice feel pain, fear, hunger, and thirst just as do all mammals, including humans.
While we follow up on the complaint that we filed with the National Institutes of Health, can we count on you, too, to get involved?

Honeybees Are Still Dying, What can we do???

2010-04-27T09:37:00.000-07:00

Well if we (and I mean all of us including me, Geronimo Rubio) can all send letters to our congressional leaders and make them aware of the problem at hand, read below...

Honeybees Are Still Dying
Honeybees Are Still Dying
Three years ago, honeybees started disappearing in the United States and other countries. Hives that had been thriving were suddenly found to be devoid of bees. The epidemic of catastrophic bee losses is called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). This last winter was the worst yet for beekeepers. From the San Francisco Chronicle—
In normal times, David Hackenberg would begin trucking his 20 million honeybees from the almond orchards of California to the orange groves of Florida this week.
Instead, after a month working the almond blossoms on the West Coast, his exhausted pollinators will get some rest and relaxation in the Georgia woods before the East Coast apple blossoms summon them to work once more next month.
These are not normal times for bees, or for commercial beekeepers, so Hackenberg's pollinators will skip the citrus gig to reduce their exposure to pesticides and get some rest. "Everybody is seeing (bee) losses this winter," said Hackenberg, of Lewisburg, Pa. "This was probably the worst year ever."
More than three years after beekeepers starting seeing the sudden disappearance of hive populations, scientists have yet to find the cause — let alone the fix — for a condition called colony collapse disorder (CCD). Meanwhile, the commercial beekeeping industry is struggling to provide pollination services to the nations' farmers. One-third of food crops rely on insect pollination.

I first wrote about this alarming situation in The Sixth Extinction.
Probably A. mellifera [the common honeybee] will not become extinct, at least in the foreseeable future, but that’s actually begging the question, isn’t it? If there were a single, remediable cause of the honeybee die-off, the question of possible extinction would lose much of its force. We need to know why honeybees are dying.
[We] ruled out many potential causes for CCD and found many possible contributing factors. But no single culprit has been identified.Bees suffering from CCD tend to be infested with multiple pathogens, including a newly discovered virus, but these infections seem secondary or opportunistic much the way pneumonia kills a patient with AIDS. The picture now emerging is of a complex condition that can be triggered by different combinations of causes. There may be no easy remedy to CCD. It may require taking better care of the environment and making long-term changes to our beekeeping and agricultural practices.
Honeybees are dying of everything, just like AIDS sufferers with weakened immune systems. This points to environmental stress as the primary cause of the ongoing demise of A. mellifera. If we continue to degrade the environment, the stresses on bees will increase. This will further weaken the bees, which will result in more die-offs, which will increase the probability of extinction over time. Barring extinction, honeybee population declines could easily be severe enough to preclude industrial scale pollination for the various fruits and nuts we eat.
So far it has been impossible to pinpoint a single cause for CCD, which strengthens the hypothesis that general environmental stress has weakened the immune system of A. mellifera. An estimated one-third of American agricultural products depend on honeybee pollination. We are getting closer to the point where the number of bees left is inadequate to service this huge industry. We are now importing bees from Australia to make up the shortfall (see the video below).
After three years of research, scientists think the cause is not a single factor but a cocktail of maladies that together weaken and sicken the bees. "We know CCD bees get all the pathogens causing the symptoms; it doesn't leave answered what's the underlying cause," said Dennis vanEngelsdorp, Pennsylvania's acting state apiarist.
Environmental stress, including pesticides and the strain of being trucked across time zones and climates, may also be a factor. Poor nutrition may also contribute, a diet of corn syrup or the nutritionally inferior nectar or pollen of crops such as cranberry, cucumbers or melons.
"We have been losing bees and beekeepers in this country for 60 years, and now we are at the point where almost half the colonies in the country are needed to pollinate almonds in California," vanEngelsdorp said. "We are close to the margin" of a viable ratio of pollinators to crops, he said. "It's amazing to me how close we are to that line."
"Something is going wrong here," Hackenberg said.
Something is going wrong here. No kidding. Not all of our problems are financial or political, though you wouldn't know that from listening to the media. This video from Silence of the Bees (Nature, PBS) explains the potentially catastrophic problems we face as pollinators die off.
..

Since this 2007 report, things have only gotten worse for the bees. Now that our self-congratulatory Congressmen are full of themselves—at least the Democrats are—because they actually managed to do something, let's see them "fix" this problem.

Uphold the Clean Air Act to Protect Wildlife from

Climate Change

Hi Friends,

Arctic ice is melting, making it hard for polar bears to find food. Rising temperatures in rivers and streams is eliminating habitat for temperature-..sensitive fish like salmon and trout. A changing climate is disrupting nature's balance between predators, like wolves, their prey and plant life endangering the future of millions of species.

While Congress delays addressing global warming and its serious consequences for people and animals, the Environmental Protection Agency has stepped in to regulate big polluters under the Clean Air Act.

But now, this crucial legislations is under attack. Demand Congress uphold the integrity and regulatory authority of the Clean Air Act »

For 40 years the Clean Air Act has cut pollution dangerous to humans and animals. Now, as the EPA prepares to regulate the carbon emissions from power plants and factories that fuel climate change, several members of Congress want to permanently disallow EPA regulation of greenhouse gases.

Join our friend at Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund and tell Congress to stick up for the Clean Air Act so we can protect people and animals from the devastating effects of global climate change »

Thanks for taking action!

A black lab mix named Texas living ALONE in a house in Emerson, NJ. He's still there. He's been courtesy listed on Petfinder so you can read his info and see his pics. His owner died months ago, and for whatever reason the son can't take him...but he's been going to the house a few times a day and letting him out and feeding him. Dogs are social animals, and living alone is horrible. He's a good looking, friendly dog and he's five years old. Please, everyone, try to send this to someone who you think might be able to help. He needs a foster home (that means a place to live until he gets permanently adopted) asap.

Thank you!
Amanda

Here's his picture and info...please take a look and forward.

More About Texas (URGENT)!!!!
4/2010 Poor Texas is living alone in the house he's lived in for five years now. Sadly, his guardian passed away in January and a family relative goes there 2-3 times a day to walk him, but this is not enough. No dog should be living alone most of the time. Dogs need love and attention more then this. Poor Tex is wondering where is guardian is? What happened to him? Why did he leave me all alone? We desperately need a foster home or permanent home for Texas asap. Texas is 5 years old, mostly black with some white on his chest. Texas is great with people, a real family dog, as Tex loved sleeping in bed with his guardian. Texas is a very happy dog when people come to see him, he's very sweet, loves to give hugs and kisses and is very playful. Texas loves kids just as much too and would make a great family dog.
Texas (URGENT)!!!! is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/..neutered.
