Who are your influences?:
Bjork, Portishead, MIA, Lykke Li, Hans Zimmer, Trent Reznor…

Describe your nominated work:
“Dark Water” is a blending of synthetic and organic instruments, Dark pop fusion with Middle eastern influences.

Did you use any unusual effects or instruments in this recording?:
Using Oud on a song was a first for me, and my favorite was the hammer dulcimer- so eerie and dreamlike.

Were there any happy accidents while in the studio, or did everything go as planned?:
I don’t know about accidents, but the process was very unplanned, and the song was uniquely built. Malika sang, making it up as she went, over a simple drum loop and an Oud strumming just one chord for 20 minutes or so. I heard particular moments I wanted to repeat, accentuate, and rearrange so I took the track home and hacked it to pieces, building the song’s skeleton that way. After that I layered my own vocals, then we added drums, programming, cellos, more vocals, hammer dulcimer, guitar, and whatever else we could think of until it felt complete.

How did you raise the funds for this project? How long do you expect it will take to recoup your out-of-pocket recording expenses?:
This was one of the songs we wrote for War Story that didn’t end up in the film, which is why I wanted to put out Aftermath- so I could still release all of the best stuff we made. We have recouped! (Fastest that’s ever happened for me, it pays to do it yourself! ha)

What’s your definition of success and how will you know when you’ve achieved it?:
I believe that artistic success comes from within your own heart. You’re either satisfied with your work or not.

Who’s sitting in your audience and what makes your fans unique?:
I am constantly surprised by the diversity of my fans. I have met so many different people from all around the world, who come together and find how alike they are in the music. It’s a beautiful thing. I often find that they are particularly compassionate, because they know what it’s like to feel outcast or different.

How do you discover new music? Do you buy music or are you content with streaming?:
I like subscription streaming services like Spotify. It gives you access to just about everything and although it is a very small amount, the artist does still get paid. But I do still buy if it’s an artist or album I really like, to support it.

How will musicians make a living if fans continue to expect music to be free?:
Our expectation today is for instant access to everything. If somebody wants to hear a song all they have to do is go to YouTube and click play. But I don’t think the solution is just forcing people to pay for music the old way. We have to think creatively on how to get artists paid so they can afford to continue to make the music we love. I think paid streaming is kind of like cable- you have to think of music in more of a package form, rather than purchasing a la carte. We just need to keep those sites accountable for what they pay the artists vs. what they pay labels, and what they pocket.

What don’t fans/audiences understand about the music industry today?:
I don’t understand the music industry today!

Are digital singles/EPs vs. full albums the future?:
I think the future is anything and everything. I think that’s what makes it art, as opposed to fast food or the most efficient smartphone. Singles, full albums, vinyl, music released in App form- who knows, the next cool thing could be somebody releasing their new single in an electric toothbrush and you can only hear it while brushing your teeth.

What do you have in the works for the upcoming year?:
I just made some cool music with Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer for Hammerstep’s new live experience and short film project, Indigo Grey. Evanescence will be playing Ozzfest Japan November 21st, and I’m really looking forward to going back there, and performing live again!

Evanescence announced for 2015 OZZFEST JAPAN

Evanescence are making their Ozzfest Japan debut and at present the show is the only scheduled performance for the Amy Lee-led group this year. Lee has spent time on soundtrack work and outside projects over the past year and the return of Evanescence is a welcome one for the band’s fans. The singer also welcomed her first baby, a boy named Jack Lion, in July 2014.

2)What does evanescence mean to you? Describe every member of Ev with one word.(by Thanos Leftheriotis and Nikos WD)Answer- Evanescence to me is a name thats bigger than any single person and just means great music and culture. Ev is its own entity. As for one word for everyone- Harmonious

4)How did u first react when Amy asked u to become evanescence's new drummer? Did you like their music before you join the band ?(by Αθηνά Μπιρμπίλη)Answer-Obviously I was elated! I very much liked what the band was doing and thought that what they did with the 2nd album, The Open Door, was ambitious and cool because they didnt make Fallen part 2, but something new, just like we did with the self titled Evanescence album.

5)Would you like having someone to teach so he will continue the style of drumming/showmanship that u've created?(by Grey Hunt)Answer- Obviously yes! I'm teaching people now via skype!! Message me on my page if you're interested!!

6)While years passing by, how will you react when u discover some young''famous'' drummer who completely reminds of you ?(by Grey Hunt)Answer- Im already seeing that. There are some really great new drummers out there. Its awesome that there are drummers that continue to raise the bar and push the envelope.

7)The last album had some pretty heavy songs like ''Sick ''and ''Never Go Back'' ..Have you ever thought about turning into even more dark and heavier sound as band ?(by Nikos WD)Answer- I'm personally game for pushing the boundaries in all directions, including the "dark and heavy", but I would be just as inspired if it got pushed more electronically or whatever. I just love to create music with other inspiring musicians, whether in EV or any of the other various projects I'm involved with.

8)Did you like Evanescence before becoming the new drummer? If so, which was your favorite song/album?(by Leo Villaverde)Answer- Yes, I believe I kind of answered that above. I really enjoyed Sweet Sacrifice and Weight of the World from The Open Door. I though Call Me When You're Sober was a great single as well.

9)On September you tweeted "@evf4ns One of my favorites. Part of what I'm filming + tracking is an instructional video of how to play ”Never Go Back”....stay tuned!!". Are you still gonna release the video??? If so, how long would it take?(by Grigoris Thanasoulas)Answer- Yes, I plan to share that with people, but theres some work to be done still on it and I've been quite busy, but, soon!

Amy Lee Discusses Forthcoming Evanescence Album

Evanescence may be mired in legalities with its former record company, but that's not keeping Amy Lee from plotting the group's fourth album.
Lee tells us that she's coming through leftovers from 2011's "Evanescence" as well as coming up with fresh material for the group:

"I definitely have a lot of songs and ideas and things we haven't shared yet and I still believe in them, so...you may still get your chance to hear all that stuff...I really only get into that mode when I'm home and finally separated from the chaos of a public life."
"Evanescence" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 but sold considerably less than its two predecessors.
Lee recently filed suit against Wind-Up Records for $1.5 million in owed royalties, and the suit also alleges that the label undermined the success of the band's self-titled 2011 album by among other things employing deficient independent promoters to work the set.
Wind-Up recently sold Evanescence's back catalog and no longer lists the group as one of its active artists.

Έπειτα από πολλά έτη αναμονής, φαίνεται πως έφτασε η στιγμή να ακούσουμε το "πολυπόθητο" "Your Love". Σε ανακοίνωση που αναρτήθηκε στο επίσημο site της σειράς "Legends & Lyrics", αναφέρεται πως η δεύτερη σεζόν, θα βγει στον αέρα μέσα στο 2014!
Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση η εταιρεία παραγωγής πέρασε μία σειρά δύσκολων γεγονότων, οι οποίες οδήγησαν σε αβεβαιότητα για το μέλλον. Παρόλα αυτά, αποφάσισαν να επιστρέψουν και αναγγέλλουν στους θαυμαστές της σειράς ότι η αναμονή θα αξίζει! Για να δούμε... Θα ακούσουμε τελικά ολόκληρο το τραγούδι;;;

Update on Legends & Lyrics

As a long overdue update to our wonderful fans and supporters, shortly after the airing of Season 1, our production company suffered a tragic set back. Creator, Director, and resident “Big Idea Dreamer”, Will Mitchell, was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s. As you might expect, following that, there were moments of uncertainty as to the future of our show. We here at Legends & Lyrics were all deeply impacted by this news, both personally and professionally. But as a testament to Will’s vision, love, and respect for the art of songwriting, we are happy to announce we are adding to our production team and hope to be back on the air in 2014 with our much anticipated Season 2. We appreciate all the fans of the series and hope you feel that it is worth the wait.
We will once again be broadcasting through American Public Television in Full HD. And in addition, we are being distributed by BBC Worldwide for international broadcast.

Introduction
Evanescence is one of those bands who are right now having great success with their debut album "Fallen", which has reached 5 times platinum in the US, 2 times here in Greece. They have also won 2 Grammys and have sold over 11 million copies of their album. Personally that doesn't say to me anything. But that doesn't concern you a lot, right? Rock On magazine was one of the few who could get close to them because of their first live performance here and Greece, and I guess that this fact does concern you. We got close to the bands young front woman Amy Lee (interviewer's note: her eyes are extraordinary but otherwise her face looks like Sailor Moon, for everyone who knows Greek he described her as feggaro!!!!!!!!) although she forced us to also take an interview of her new lover, who is no one else than Shaun Morgan, singer-guitarist of Evanescence’s support band Seether. What else are we going to see....

The Interview
How do you like Greece thus far?
Amy: It is very beautiful. The food is good. Everything's nice.

Do you have plans on a follow-up to "Fallen" in the immediate future or are you going to continue promote "Fallen" touring and releasing more singles or videos?
Amy: We are ready to work for our new album. We will have another small tour in the US with Seether for five weeks and the rest of the year we are not going to tour at all, and we will start to write some new stuff. We will try to be as creative as we can and we aren't afraid of experiments. We can't wait to get into the studio again.

You are participating in the soundtrack of the movie "Punisher" with the song "Broken" with Amy's vocals. How did this collaboration occur?
Shaun: We wrote this song 3 years ago. During the recording of our first album we wanted Amy to participate, who came into the studio and sang her part, but due to some problems with the song it didn't make it to the album. In January we were in L.A. and the producer of "Punisher" contacted us and gave us the opportunity to put this song in the soundtrack. We suggested that it should be recorded again and they said that would be fine. And when Amy came, we added some strings without hurry and the result was very good. In the beginning it was going to be only for the soundtrack but the song did so good that we decided to also release it. Our company wanted to put it in our forthcoming record but we wanted it to be in the re-release.

Do you believe that your participation in this soundtrack will give you the same opportunity which Evanescence had with "Bring me to life" which was in the "Daredevil" soundtrack?
Shaun: I think the same thing happened to Creed. I hadn't heard of them in South Africa until "Higher" came out and they became known through the soundtrack. In general the recognition a band has through such a record is very high, and that's why companies often try that route. Except for being in the soundtrack of "Daredevil", "Bring me to life" was a very strong song
which made a big impression and stayed with you. "Broken" is a more quieter song and I don't know if we are going to have the same success as Evanescence. Time will tell....
Amy: To participate in a soundtrack helps you a lot to get noticed in a worldwide level. The promotion needed to be done from a company for a band to become internationally known requires a lot of work and isn't usually done. But if the song is already on a soundtrack, everything becomes easier and it is easier for a song to be successful. The truth is that this gave us the chance to get known to the entire world.

Your guitarist, Ben Moody, isn't a member of the band anymore. What will be the consequence of that, since Ben was also one of the major composers of Evanescence's music?
Amy: He wasn't the major composer, we were both equally responsible for the composing of the songs. The fact that Ben left the band is going to, obviously, change our sound a bit, but we are very happy with this change, because Ben was moving into an entirely different musical direction than the rest of the band. Right now we all have come closer as a group, we communicate better with each other, we enjoy playing live, while Ben had begun to negatively affect the band.
Shaun: The best way for someone to understand this is to listen to the instrumental piece Ben has written for the soundtrack, it really sucks. He tries to be like Evanescence, but to no avail. It is totally different.

European bands like The Gathering, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, had combined a few years earlier before of you heavy guitars with female vocals, but they stayed in a more underground level. Maybe the fact that they didn't had a big company behind them and that they don't come from the US plays a part in this?
Amy: Look.... I don't think that this has anything to do with it. To tell you the truth, I haven't heard of any of these bands before the recording of "Fallen" and when I heard them, I can't say that I was moved by them. That they haven't had a bigger success is based on other reasons. I don't to which extent the music of those bands comes from their hearts, but I can say that this is definitely true for us. Also we have totally different influences and backgrounds, since we don't show up dressed with Matrix style clothes in our personal lives and we have different topics in our songs. A lot of things play a part.

Θραύσεις με το ταλέντο της κάνει η Κύπρια σοπράνο Αλίκη Χρυσοχού στο «Βρετανία έχεις ταλέντο» αφήνοντας πραγματικά έκπληκτους με το ταλέντος της τόσο τον «σκληρό» Σάιμον Κάουελ αλλά και τους υπόλοιπους κριτές! Η Αλίκη που γεννήθηκε στη Λευκωσία, πριν από μερικά χρόνια δεν μπορούσε ούτε καν να μιλήσει λόγω της σπάνιας ασθένειας από την οποία έπασχε.

«Είμαι ευλογημένη που είμαι εδώ σήμερα. Πριν μερικά χρόνια οι γιατροί μου είπαν ότι έχω εγκεφαλίτιδα. Όλα όσα είχα μάθει να κάνω ως μωρό εξαφανίστηκαν. Δεν μπορούσα να μιλήσω, διαβάσω, γράψω ή περπατήσω. Η μητέρα μου έπρεπε να κάνει τα πάντα για μένα. Να με ταΐζει και να με κάνει μπάνιο. Μέχρι που μια νύχτα που ήμασταν στο νοσοκομείο, άρχισε να μου τραγουδά. Αυτή ήταν η πρώτη φορά που ανταποκρίθηκα σε οποιοδήποτε ερέθισμα μετά από πολύ καιρό».

Αυτό δήλωσε η ταλαντούχα Κύπρια Αλίκη Χρυσοχού στα πλαίσια του «Βρετανία έχεις ταλέντο», μετά την εκτέλεση του Bring Me To Life των Evanescence που έκανε κοινό και κριτική επιτροπή να σηκωθεί και να την χειροκροτήσει.

Ενώ, ο συνήθως πολλά βαρύς Σάιμον Κάουλε της είπε -σύμφωνα με την Sun- «Έχεις φυσικό ταλέντο. Είναι το πιο εύκολο ναι που έχω πει στην καριέρα μου».

Σύμφωνα με το βιογραφικό της η Αλίκη γεννήθηκε στην Λευκωσία και από μικρή θεωρήθηκε παιδί θαύμα.

Στα 18 της συνέχισε τις μουσικές της σπουδές στο Sheffield University στην Μεγάλη Βρετανία. Εκεί που, μετά το τέλος του πρώτου έτους, διαγνώσθηκε με εγκεφαλίτιδα.

Μετά την ανάρρωση της η Αλίκη αποφοίτησε από το Sheffield University με Bachelor of Music και συνέχισε τις σπουδές και την καριέρα της στην Νέα Υόρκη.

Lzzy Hale about possibly recording "Break in" in studio with Amy Lee!

Do you rememeber the duet of Amy Lee and her friend Lzzy Hale? If not, let's explain you that Amy Lee accompanied Lzzy Hale of Halestorm singing the song "Break in " during the Carnival of Madness tour last summer.

According to some rumors, after the reply that came from Lzzy Hale on twitter, it is quite possible they record it together in studio. Specifically, Lzzy Hale stated that she has definetly talked with Amy abou recording it in studio. Hopefully, is Amy has agreed, we may listen to this duet soon ! For the time being , you can listen to the live versions of the song!

Wind-up Records to release (possibly) a DVD for the latest tour??

Acording to a reply that came from the record's label of the group on Twitter, it id probsbly very possible the band to release a Dvd for this tour.
This is not exactly aprroved, but Windup Records leaves it all to the groups decision. We are waiting for the reply of the band, in order to release a second live album, as they did with "Anywhere But Home" back in the latest decade.

Μάλιστα η ψηφοφορία που διεξήχθη ανέδειξε της τραγούδια των Εvanescence πρώτη με μεγάλη διαφορά , καθώς είχε το 46% των ψήφων ενώ ακολουθούσε δεύτερη με ποσοστό 20% η Lzzy Hale των Halestorm.
