GlossyBox Valentine's Edition...

I am sure by now you already know the contents of this month GlossyBox by heart, so I will try to keep this post short and go straight away to my opinion.

Sé que a estas alturas os sabréis los contenidos de la GlossyBox de Enero, edición especial de San Valentín, de memoria, así que intentaré ser breve.

There was a lot of hype with this month's special edition of GlossyBox, dedicated to Valentine's Day. The boxes turned fuchsia and they included some heart-shaped candy. I was astonished when I discovered I did not recognize any of the brands featured. None of them interest me, to be honest, and the list of brands that are part of the GlossyBox team at the moment are not appealing enough. I appreciate that they have included Elizabeth Arden, Apivita, CND, Estee Lauder, Kryolan, MUFE, Moroccan Oil, and NUXE in other boxes but none of them appeared in this Valentine's edition.

To my mind, the products selected did not match the theme (Valentine's Day) at all. I said to myself "another hand cream". There is a body lotion designed for dry skins and a fresh perfumed water. There is a haircare product and a mascara by a new brand. I missed some "sexy" stuff such as some high-end perfume samples, indulgent body lotions, something sexy-looking or sexy-smelling, something pink, something fluffy... and tons of makeup.

Había mucha expectación con la cajita de Edición Limitada de GlossyBox de este mes, dedicada al día de hoy, San Valentín. Las cajas se volvieron de color fucsia y se incluyeron piruletas de corazón. Me quedé muy sorprendida al abrirla y descubrir que no conocía ninguna de las marcas que aparecían, y que además no me resultaban particularmente atractivas. La lista de marcas que participan en GlossyBox España sigue siendo escasa y muy limitada, aunque cabe destacar que han incluido productos de Elizabeth Arden, Apivita, CND, Estee Lauder, Kryolan, MUFE, Moroccan Oil y NUXE en cajitas anteriores, pero ninguna de éstas, mis favoritas, aparece este mes.

A mi modo de ver, falló la selección de productos acorde con el evento al que estaba dedicado la caja. Veo como aparece otra crema de manos, una loción corporal para pieles secas y un agua ligera perfumada. Hay un producto capilar y una máscara de pestañas de una marca desconocida para mí hasta ahora. Eché de menos productos "sexies", llamativos, atractivos y coquetos para una celebración como ésta. Alguna muestra de perfume de alta gama, una loción corporal de aroma dulce y caprichoso, algo rosa o rojo, y sin duda, algo más de maquillaje.

Creo que la mejor manera de saber si GlossyBox es para ti es echar un vistazo a la caja y hacerte la siguiente pregunta: "Si viera esta misma caja en una tienda, con estos mismos productos, pagaría 10€ por ella? En esta ocasión, me temo que mi respuesta es no.

The process

There is a small shop in my town that sells gourmet foods and they have a good variety of cupcakes mixes, all ready and beautifully packed. Mr. D bought me the Red Velvet Cupcakes mix for Christmas and as a Valentine's present, I baked them for him. The name of the company which manufactures these mixes (and many others), is Pelican bay, specialized in delicious gourmet gifts. This is my first experience with Red Velvets and I must admit they are the most delicious type of cupcakes I have ever tried!

Hay una tienda pequeñita en mi ciudad que vende delicatessen y alimentos de selección gourmet. Tienen una buena selección de preparados para cupcakes, a los que hay que añadir una pequeña cantidad de ingredientes. Mr. D me había regalado el kit "Red Velvet" por Navidad, los característicos cupcakes color rojo sangre, sabor chocolate y con frosting de crema de queso fresco, y yo se los he hecho para San Valentín. El nombre de la empresa que comercializa estos preparados es Pelican Bay, de Florida, y está especializada en este tipo de regalos. Era mi primera experiencia con los Red Velvet y tengo que admitir que son los cupcakes más deliciosos que he probado nunca...

Fall In Love with Chocolate! (Sweet Treats for Valentine's)

Calling all chocoholics!

The Body Shop launches their brand new and exclusive Chocomania range of bath and body products for chocolate lovers, a collection of seven different products containing Community Fair Trade ingredients with chocolate as the main star. They sent me a set of three products to try and review and here are my thoughts.

The Body Shop lanzó al mercado hace algunas semanas su nueva y exclusiva línea de productos corporales Chocomania, especialmente dedicada a los y las amantes del chocolate. Se trata de siete productos elaborados con ingredientes procedentes de Comercio Justo con el chocolate como denominador común. Me enviaron una selección de estos productos y ésta es mi opinión:

Chocomania Body Scrub

This body scrub contains real cocoa butter and organic cane sugar. It removes dead skin cells and activates microcirculation thanks to its granulated texture. It leaves my skin so soft and smooth and with a delicate chocolate scent.

Este exfoliante corporal contiene manteca de cacao y azúcar de caña orgánico. Como todos los exfoliantes de textura granulada, ayuda a eliminar las células muertas de la piel. Deja la piel suave y con un leve aroma a chocolate.

Chocomania Body Butter

The star of this collectoin, this body butter contains 13 Community Fair Trade ingredients and gives extra long-lasting hydration. It has a lovely buttery texture and absorbs quickly, leaving skin with an indulgent chocolate scent.

La manteca corporal es el producto estrella de la colección, principalmente por su composición a base de 13 ingredientes de Comercio Justo y por su fórmula hidratante exclusiva que asegura 48 horas de hidratación continua. Tiene una textura cremosa encantadora y deja la piel de nuevo con ese olor achocolatado.

Chocomania Soap

100g of creamy chocolate scented soap. Apart from coca butter, it contains exfoliating coconut shell. Its heart shape makes it a marvellous sweet treat for Valentine's Day, doesn't it?

100g de jabón aromatizado. Además de manteca de cacao, lleva corteza de coco, que tiene propiedades exfolianres. Su forma de corazón lo convierte en un detalle perfecto para San Valentín. ¿Verdad?

Overall,

I am not a fan of chocolate-scented beauty products since most of the times their smell is extremely artificial. The scent of these Chocomania products is, nevertheless, surprisingly light and delicate and it tends more towards a sweet scent like vanilla or caramel than chocolate itself, especially in the case of the soap and the body butter.

Of all the three products, my favourite is the body scrub. I am particularly fond of these kinds of scrubs and the fact that it contains cane sugar makes it a perfect option to get rid os dead cells in the shower.

When preparing this review, I thought this range could be a perfect option to take into account for the boys reading here who want to surprise their girlfriends tomorrow with a beauty treat, and also an idea for girls to try to have a tempting skin tomorrow...

En resumen,

No me suelen gustar los productos cosméticos con olor a chocolate ya que la mayoría de las veces tienen un olor muy artificial. Los productos de la colección de Chocomania tienen un toque bastante más delicado y suave, que tiende a asemejarse más a la vainilla o el caramelo que al chocolate, sobre todo en el caso del jabón y de la manteca.

De los tres productos, mi favorito es el exfoliante. Me suele gustar este tipo de formatos y al contener azúcar de caña se convierte en una opción a tener en cuenta si estamos buscando un buen exfoliante para la ducha.

Cuando estaba haciendo el borrador de esta entrada, se me ocurrió que los productos podían ser una opción a tener en cuenta para los chicos que estén pensando en regalarles algún producto de belleza a sus parejas y también para las chicas, para que mañana tengan la piel irresistible...

Babyliss Pro Conical Wand 32-19mm

I can't deny I am still totally obsessed with my GHDs, considering them one of the best investments I have ever made. I purchased the Pure edition back in 2008 (they are white) and I have been using them ever since whenever I want to rock a different hair style. I am not particularly skilfull with these kinds of appliances but I have managed to learn some tips and make the best of them.

However, when I saw this Conical Wand I immediately thought it was the perfect complemente to my hair tools. What I find most difficult with my GHDs is to make curls, and I had read and seen some videos where it was demonstrated how easy it was to achieve beachy waves witht this funny invention.

The thing is, it is not sold in Spain. I had to order it from HqHair, where, the truth is, it is not very expensive. Using a coupon code and enjoying their permanent free delivery worldwide, it cost less than £20. Right now, they have an offer with the Hot Pink model, although I preferred and chose the black one

No puedo negaros que sigo loca con las GHD, y sigo pensando que han sido una de las mejores inversiones que he hecho. Las mías son las Pure edition, del año 2008 (y siguen como el primer día), en color blanco. No es que sea especialmente mañosa con estos aparatejos pero he conseguido ir aprendiendo truquillos para sacarles el máximo partido.

Sin embargo, cuando vi esta "varita mágica" pensé que sería el complemento perfecto a mis herramientas de styling. Lo que más me cuesta conseguir con las GHD son las ondas, así que tras haber leído y visto algunos vídeos de YouTube mencionando la facilidad de conseguir ondas con este invento, me lancé a por él.

Ojo porque no se venden en España, tuve que pedirlas a HqHair, donde hay que reconocer, que no son nada caras. Con uno de esos códigos descuento y aprovechando que no tienen gastos de envío, salió por menos de £20. En estos momentos tienen en stock el modelo rosa fuchsia aunque yo elegí la negra.

You will need a special plug adapter for the Spanish electricity system. This adapter is cheap and easy to find in hardware stores.

How to:

Simply take a section of hair, wrap around the cone, starting from the widest end of your wand, wait for about 10 seconds, and release. You can add a litttle touch of hairspray to make your curls last longer. It makes a beautiful cascade of curls, soft waves or ringlets.

¿Cómo utilizarla?

Tan sencillo como coger un mechón de pelo, enrollarlo a lo largo de la "varita", empezando en el extremo más grueso, esperar unos 10 segundos y soltar. Puedes añadir un poco de laca para fijar las ondas. Se pueden conseguir rizos, ondas y tirabuzones.

It is February 5th already; a whole month after beginning 2012 has gone by and I cannot believe we are almost facing spring-time again... I have found myself using the same products over and over again this January, 4 weeks of getting up at 7am and finishing work at 9:30pm...
These are my 5 favourite products from January:

Ya es 5 de Febrero... se nos ha ido el primer mes de 2012 sin avisar, y casi sin darnos cuenta ya se puede empezar a pensar en la primavera... He estado utilizando los mismos productos una y otra vez en este frío mes de enero, cuatro semanas de madrugar a las 7 y acabar la jornada a las 9:30 de la noche...
Estos son mis 5 productos favoritos de este mes:

1.- Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Liquid Makeup, in the shade 02, "Fresh Ivory": One of my favourite foundations in winter, since it provides a high coverage while treating skin problems such as the excess of shine and blemishes. / Una de mis bases preferidas de invierno, con cobertura bastante alta, que ayuda a tratar el exceso de grasa y granitos de las pieles con tendencia acnéica.

2.- Stila Smudge Pot in "Black": A jet black gel eyeshadow and eyeliner in one. It has an inky intensity that provides the best cat-eyed look. / Sombra y eyeliner dos en uno en un negro azabache increíble. Tiene una intensidad parecida a la tinta china, lo cual lo hace perfecto para lograr el efecto "cat-eyes".

Is it the end of the era OPI, China Glaze, Essie and other low cost brands?

Well, maybe not, as we cannot deny how convenient these brands are to get our hands on tons of different shades and finishes for our nails at reasonable prices.

However, new brands are arriving and one of them is Deborah Lippmann, a company we could define as luxurious, smart and innovative. Deborah Lippmann's nail products do not contain harmful ingredients like toluene, formaldehyde or DBP nor they are tested in animals, so they belong to the group of nail polishes called 4-free.

¿Será el fin de la era OPI, China Glaze, Essie y otras marcas low cost?
La verdad es que no lo creo; no podemos negar lo bien que nos vienen estas marcas para poder echarle mano a todos los tonos habidos y por haber de lacas de uñas con precios más razonables.

My Current Skincare Routine

First post of 2012 about my skincare routine, yay!

I am happy to say I have obtained a comfortable balance with the products I am using at the moment, even though I am still trying and doing some research about some new products.

My skin remains extremely sensitive and acne prone, and I am beginning to have a slight idea of the pass of time in the form of the first fine lines.
I am going to tell you about my morning routine.

Estoy contenta porque parece que he encontrado un equilibrio bastante cómodo con los productos que estoy utilizando en estos momentos, aunque sigo probando e investigando sobre nuevos cosméticos.

Mi piel sigue siendo extremadamente sensible y con tendencia acnéica y además empiezo a vislumbrar los primeros signos del paso del tiempo en forma de finas líneas de expresión.
Hoy voy a hablaros de mi rutina matutina.

First thing in the morning I wash my face with La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel for Oily Sensitive Skin, which is an old friend of mine. This gel is PH 5.5 and soap-free. It has been taking care of my skin for years now, being the one and only. It makes me feel like I am really taking care of my skin and it is the perfect balance between a gentle cleanser and a clinical one, since it helps combat skin imperfections such as pimples, pores and oil in general. Used day and night, (as it is also part of my night-time cleansing routine) it has never dried my skin out.

*I have also been using Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel, some samples delivered to me by Farmapromo, with very similar results.

What I do next is to apply Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, an amazing lotion containing organic aloe vera, calendula, rose-scented geranium, cucumber and vitamin E. It was sent to me from Liz Earle and it is part of the most famous skincare products of this brand. Apart from my beloved Clinique Mild Lotion and the Tea Tree Water, this has become a must-have toner. The best part is its perfect combination of ingredients, especially designed to refresh, soothe and brighten skin.

Time now for Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner, another product supplied by my friends from Farmapromo. What I notice after several weeks using this product is that I can feel a cleaner and more even surface of my skin. I was quite skeptical at first but I am happy to say that it has now became a staple in my skincare routine and it works wonderfully as a primer. I use it only in the mornings after cleaning and toning and before my moisturizer.

As part of the gift set from Liz Earle, I received their Skin Repair Light Moisturizer. It is not my favourite product from Liz Earle, a brand I admit I love. This moisturizer contains borage, avocado oil, beta-carotene and natural vitamin E. It is deeply moisturizing and perhaps this is the reason why I feel it can be a bit too heavy on my skin. I am not prone to shine on the T zone but I have noticed a little bit of it when using this moisturizer.

As my anti-puffiness and anti-dark circles treatment I use my beloved Chanel Beauté Initiale Eye which I wrote about here.

Lo primero que hago cada mañana es lavar la carina con el Gel Limpiador Purificante para Pieles Grasas y Sensibles de la gama Effaclar de La Roche Posay, que ya es un viejo conocido. Se trata de un gel limpiador de pH 5.5 y sin jabón. Lleva cuidándome la piel varios años y se ha convertido en el único e insustituible. Me hace sentir que realmente estoy tratando mi piel y para mí es el equilibrio perfecto entre un limpiador suave y respetuoso con la piel pero a la vez uno más clínico, ya que me ayuda a combatir los granitos, poros y la grasa de la pie. Lo utilizo por la mañana y por la noche y nunca me ha resecado la piel.

*He estado probando el Gel Espumoso de Bioderma Sebium gracias a unas muestras que me enviaron desde Farmapromo y he notado que se parecen bastante.

A continucación utilizo el tónico de Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, una loción que cuenta entre sus ingredientes con aloe vera orgánica, caléndula, geranio de rosa, pepino y vitamina E. Me lo enviaron desde Liz Earle y es parte de la línea más famosa de esta marca. A parte de mi querida Mild Lotion de Clinique y del Tea Tree Water de Lush, se ha convertido en uno de mis tónicos favoritos. Lo mejor es la combinación tan saludable y especial de sus componentes, que consiguen refrescar, suavizar y revitalizar la piel.

Le toca el turno al Pore Refiner de Bioderma Sebium, otro producto que me enviaron desde Farmapromo. Lo que he notado después de algunas semanas utilizando este producto es una piel en general más limpia y un relieve más regular. Era muy escéptica al principio y por ello estaba deseando poder probarlo. Ahora se ha convertido en un básico de mi rutina diaria y me funciona de maravilla como prebase. Sólo lo aplico por las mañanas tras el gel y el tónico y antes de la hidratante.

Como parte del kit que me enviaron de Liz Earle recibí la hidratante llamada Skin Repair Light Moisturizer. No es mi producto favorito de la marca, de la cual los productos que he probado hasta la fecha me han sorprendido gratamente. Esta hidratante contiene aceites de borraja y de aguacate, beta-caroteno y vitamina E. Es muy hidratante y quizá por ello me resulta un poco pesada en la piel. No soy propensa a tener brillos en la zona T pero los he tenido utilizando esta hidratante.

Como contorno de ojos utilizo el Beauté Initiale Eye de Chanel, del que os hablé aquí.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

The last time I went makeup shopping was with a good friend of me, (Hi!), and we went straight away to the new NARS counter set in our region. We were quite disappointed since there were not many items available and the seasonal collection was entirely sold out.

We ended up in M·A·C and, with the aid of a wonderful makeup artist who provided my friend with a fantastic session, (thanks babe!) both of us purchased similar things. I was extremely tempted by some of the products the artist applied on her beautiful skin.

La última vez que tuve la oportunidad de hacer alguna compra de maquillaje fue con una buena amiga (Hola, guapa!), cuando nos fuimos a conocer el nuevo stand de NARS del Sephora de Oviedo. Nos quedamos bastante decepcionadas ya que aún tienen pocos productos y la colección Navideña estaba agotada.

Acabamos en M·A·C y con la ayuda de la maquilladora que nos atendió, que además maquilló casi por completo a mi amiga (muchísimas gracias), nos compramos prácticamente las mismas cosas. La verdad es que me vi muy tentada tras ver los productos que le aplicó en su preciosa piel.

She bought Studio Finish Fluid and the artist used Mineralize Skinfinish Natural on top, which is an amazing setting powder that can also be used on its own. I had had this product on my wish list for a while so, after seeing the results, I couldn't help buying it for me as well.

I cannot be more satisfied. It has now become one of my top products from MAC, an absolute basic.

The best part is its natural finish. There is no cakey-powdery finish, just your skin but better, improved.

It looks amazing on top of a light foundation such as MAC Face and Body or similar and the shades available are natural and flesh-like. My shade is "Medium", which corresponds more or less to NC15-20.

They provide a low to medium coverage which makes them really versatile. They can be used on their own, without any other foundation underneath or even as a concealer, used with a wet sponge or even with your fingers and applying them locally.

Mi amiga probó la base Studio Fix Fluid y sobre ella la maquilladora aplicó los polvos Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. Hacía tiempo que les tenía ganas y tras ver los efectos sobre su piel, no pude resistirme.

La verdad es que no podría estar más encantada con ellos, se han convertido en uno de mis productos estrella de MAC, un básico, sin duda.

Lo mejor de estos polvos compactos es el efecto natural que dejan en la piel. No hay acabado recargado, efecto máscara o apariencia polvorienta o acartonada sino que emulan un efecto piel desnuda perfeccionada: nuestra piel, pero mejor.

Queda preciosa sobre una base ligera del tipo de MAC Face and Body o similar, y los tonos disponibles se ajustan a la perfección con la mayoría de los tonos de piel. En mi caso, utilizo el tono "Medium", equivalente a NC15-NC20.

Proporcionan una cobertura de baja a media ya que son muy modulables, lo cual los hacen particularmente versátiles: además de poder utilizarse como polvos matificantes o de acabado, pueden usarse solos, sin base, o incluso como corrector, utilizando para ello una esponjita húmeda o nuestros propios dedos de forma local.

Pros

It evens out skin
Provides a decent, buildable coverage
Gives a subtle, natural, glow yet it mattifies
It does not look powdery

Cons

It is extremely fragile so if you drop it, it will probably shatter into dust.
A couple of its components (Jojoba oil and Isopropyl palmitate) have a bad reputation for clogging pores, and breaking out, though fortunately this has not happened to me.

Tools

Depending on the coverage I want, I use a kabuki/buffer brush (for more coverage), a skunk/stippling brush (for light coverage), or a big fluffy powder brush such as the one in the picture, my Sigma F30.

Tips

To obtain more coverage and also a flawless finish, I spray MAC Fix+ onto a buffer brush (like MAC 182 or Sigma Buffer F45), then swirl the brush on the MSF and then apply.
It looks also great applied onto moisturized and primed face, (using, for example, MAC Strobe), for days when you may not bother about ellaborated makeup.

Inconvenientes

Este polvo en particular es muy frágil por lo que tenemos que tener cuidado de no dejarlo caer puesto que muy probablemente se hará polvo
Contiene un par de ingredientes con mala fama (el aceite de jojoba y el isopropyl palmitate), que a algunas usuarias les han ensuciado los poros e incluso provocado granitos. Afortunadamente, yo no he notado esto, al menos por el momento.

Brochas recomendadas

Dependiendo de la cobertura que busque en cada momento utilizo: brocha buffer/kabuki (para mayor cobertura), brocha stippling/mofeta (para una cobertura hiper-ligera), o una brocha grande y tupida de polvos como la Sigma F30 de la imagen.

Trucos

Para conseguir aún más cobertura y un acabado de piel "perfecta", pulverizo una sola vez MAC Fix+ sobre una brocha kabuki (como la MAC 182 o la Sigma Buffer F45), recojo el producto moviendo la brocha en forma circular sobre los polvos y aplico.
Quedan fabulosos aplicados sobre la piel hidratada y con un primer del estilo de MAC Strobe, una combinación fantástica para cuando no queremos un maquillaje muy elaborado.

What a discovery I made this past year 2011! I met Paola some months ago and, apart from being a lovely and sweet girl, I found out that we shared the love for stationery stuff and crafts.

She is the owner of Lolailo Broches, as she makes wonderful accesories in felt and different fabrics she finds in her trips around the world. She told me how she bought beautifully patterned materials on Turkey, for example.

Last month, I chose 4 of her pieces as Christmas presents for some of my beloved ones.

I would like to show you them and invite you to visit her blog and fall in love with her designs.

¡Menudo descubrimiento hice a finales de 2011! Conocí a Paola hace algunos meses y además de encontrarme con una chica dulce y agradable, descubrí que compartimos una pequeña obsesión con los artículos de papelería y escritura y también por la artesanía y las manualidades.

Paola creó Lolailo Broches, ya que hace accesorios con fieltro y preciosas telas que va encontrando en sus viajes. Me contó que se había traído bastante material de Turquía, por ejemplo.

El mes pasado, elegí cuatro de sus piezas como regalos de Navidad para algunas amigas y familiares.

As you can see, I chose four different brooches, three pretty hearts in different combined colours, each of them with a matching bow and an amazing brooch inspired in The Little Prince, which I consider a work of art. She even made some beautiful paper bags, little heart included, for the gifts.

Como véis, elegí cuatro broches diferentes, tres preciosos corazones en telas de colores combinados, cada uno de ellos con un lacito a juego, y una pieza espectacular inspirada en El Principito, que me parece una obra de arte. Además, incluyó unas preciosas bolsitas de papel hechas por ella con corazones para presentarlos todos.

The girls really loved the designs and admired even the smallest details. The only thing I regret is not having ordered one for myself but I must fix that soon! Do not forget to tell us which your favourite item is, I am curious!

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

Yep, I am quite late on the trend... OPI launched Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides collection late spring and I got a selection of its nail polishes some weeks ago in eBay. This collection consists of six pastel shades plus a silver crackle topcoat. It was intended to be released to coincide with the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film, entitled the same "On Stranger Tides".

I purchased four nail polishes from this collection.

Llego tarde, llego tarde... OPI lanzó la colección "Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides" la pasada primavera y me hice con una pequeña selección de algunos de los esmaltes incluidos gracias a eBay. La colección completa la formaban seis tonos pastel más un topcoat efecto "crackle" de color plata. Su lanzamiento coincidiría, además, con el de la última entrega de la saga de "Piratas del Caribe, en mareas misteriosas". Estos son los cuatro esmaltes que encontré de dicha colección.

Skull and Glossbones

It is a beautiful and creamy light grey. This shade is my favourite from the lot, as it looks so elegant on the nails and make them look polished and sophisticated. The shade of grey is quite warm and lacks the annoying blue undertones of other grey nail polishes.

Es un precioso gris claro. Es mi favorito, ya que queda muy elegante y le da a las uñas un toque cuidado, limpio y sofisticado. Esta tonalidad de gris es bastante cálida y afortunadamente no tira a azulado como otros esmaltes de la gama de los grises.

Stranger Tides

The one that gives name to the whole collection, this is a dirty grey-green colour. It is quite similar to Essie "Da Bush" if you ask me, but in this one the green colour is more evident. At first, I thought this was Mermaid's Tears because, as you may know, OPI minis do not include the name of the shade so I had to guess. However, it has nothing to do with Mermaid's Tears as the former is a soft colour whereas the latter is rather vibrant.

Se trata del tono que da nombre a toda la colección, un verde-grisáceo. Se parece bastante a "Da Bush" de Essie, pero éste de OPI tira más a verde. Al principio, lo confundí con Mermaid's Tears, otro de los esmaltes de la colección, ya que OPI no le pone nombres a los minis y hay que adivinar. Pero no tiene nada que ver con el Lágrimas de Sirena porque el susodicho es mucho más apagado.

Sparrow Me the Drama

Quite an interesting shade of pink, half bright, half soft, with a tiny bit of violet. Definitely a cool-based colour that would particularly suit girls with this undertone.

Un tono de rosa bastante interesante, a camino entre fuerte y suave, con un toque de violeta. Sin duda un rosa frío que quedará especialmente favorecedor en pieles de este subtono.

Planks a Lot

It is a pretty lavender cream with blue undertones. It is not particularly unique so I would not purchase this on its own.

Un lavanda vivo muy bonito, también de subtono azulado. No es un color especialmente original y quizá es el más soso de todos, y sin duda el más intenso.

Overall,

Some people say that the collection does not reflect the pirate theme at all. We would expect some rude and spooky red, black and brown colours, maybe. However, this collection is mainly based on the scenery of the film. If you have watched it, you would have noticed the emphasis on the murky water and the hazy skies. The idea was to be evocative of a warm, tropical and nautical setting and this, I think, is greatly achieved.

As I told you before, my ultimate favourite is Skull and Glossbones, as I consider it to be the most special and unique shade.

In terms of application, two coats look ok though I would recommend three for a complete coverage.

En resumidas cuentas,
He leído algunas opiniones destacando que la colección no ha sabido a estar a la altura de la temática pirata. Quizás esperábamos una selección de colores más grosera y atrevida, en rojos, negros y marrones. Sin embargo, es interesante pensar en esta colección como en un reflejo del paisaje de la película. Si la habéis visto, predominan las escenas de aguas turbias y penumbras o brumas. La idea, dicen, era de evocar la calidez de las aguas tropicales y el ambiente marinero, y creo que esto se ha conseguido.
Como comentaba antes, mi preferido es Skull & Glossbones, porque es el tono más especial de todos.
En cuanto a la aplicación, con dos capas es suficiente para obtener un "buen" resultado, aunque recomendaría tres para una cobertura completa.

It is great to make a sort of balance at the end of the year. I have tried many products in 2011 and I thought I could share with you what my fave makeup products have been. As usual, three different categories, Face, Eyes and Lips.

Siempre viene bien hacer un cierto balance a final de año. Durante el 2011 he probado bastantes productos nuevos y pensé que podría ser interesante hacer un pequeño resumen acerca de aquéllos que más me han gustado y mejor me han funcionado. ♥ Primer - Prebase

Le Blanc, Chanel

The best about Le Blanc is that it makes light come out of your skin, without any shimmer, glitter or similar. The product has a liquid texture which blends marvellously onto skin and the application of makeup afterwards is made easier as this product helps foundation set, adhere to skin and last longer. Definitely an investment since a couple of drops are more than enough for the whole face. Read my full review here.

Lo mejor de Le Blanc de Chanel es que consigue que la piel adquiera una cierta luz desde el interior, sin recurrir a shimmer, brillos, purpurinas o glitter de cualquier tipo. Su textura es muy acuosa y se funde de una manera fantástica sobre la piel, haciendo que la base de maquillaje se aplique muy fácilmente, quede mejor fijada y dure más. I love this foundation as it can adapt to my life. When I need just a light coat for a common day with no extraordinary plans, it gives me an effortless and even look. When I go for a more ellaborate makeup, it can be layered easily and it makes other products work great on top. Blusher, bronzer and powder set wonderfully over this aqua-like foundation.

La razón por la que adoro esta base es porque en cierto modo se adapta a cualquier estilo de vida. Cuando sólo necesito o me apetece llevar una leve capa, proporciona un acabado natural y suave. Cuando quiero conseguir un maquillaje más especial, puedo ir superponiendo capas sin miedo a que quede artificial y además los productos aplicados a continuación lucen y se fijan fenomenal en esta base de textura acuosa.

♥ Concealer - Corrector

All About Eyes, Clinique

For my dark circles, it provides great coverage without any caking. A tiny amount is needed for both undereye areas.

Para mis ojeras... Tiene una cobertura fantástica y no reseca. Sólo una gota es más que suficiente.

♥ Bronzer

Laguna, Nars

I have tried many, low-cost and high end and however this still is the very best. I love the shade, so natural and flattering and how well it works as contouring. It makes my cheek bones appear and gives me a sun tan look which I love... It is perfect for summer time, as it emphasizes your natural tan, and in winter just a light hand is needed to make your face more dimensional.

He probado varios bronzers, tanto de marcas de low-cost como de otras de precios más elevados pero al final siempre acabo diciéndome que éste es mi favorito. Me encanta porque es un color natural y muy favorecedor, y porque para contornear va fenomenal. Hace que de pronto salgan de la nada mis huesos del pómulo y da a la piel un acabado bronceado precioso. En verano, es aún mejor, porque resalta el moreno natural y en invierno sólo con una pizquita es suficiente para darle dimensión al rostro.

♥ Highligher - Iluminador

Chez Chez Lamé, MAC

I was at unsure with highlighter. In the end, I have chosen Chez Chez Lamé for its golden yet soft finish, which I make it noticeable thanks to my Sigma E45 Small Tapered Blending Brush, on top of the cheek bones and onto the temples and also under the brow bone.

Tenía mis dudas con el iluminador. Al final, he elegido el Chez Chez Lamé por su dulce tonalidad dorada, que consigo hacer notar gracias a la brocha E45 Small Tapered Blending Brush de Sigma, sobre el hueso del pómulo y hacia la sien, y también bajo el hueso de la ceja.

♥ Blush - Colorete

Luster, Nars

This sheer golden apricot blush is the perfect balance between peach and gold. Whereas Laguna was a product which I prefer to use in the summer due to my complexion, I love Luster in winter as it looks so beautiful on light skin. Maybe one of Nars most natural looking blushes, you can get no wrong with Luster.

Este colorete melocotón dorado es perfecto para pieles claritas. Mientras que prefiero utilizar los Laguna durante el verano, me encanta Luster en esta época del año porque queda precios en pieles claras. Es probablemente uno de los coloretes de Nars más naturales, con el que es difícil no acertar.

♥ Mascara

High Definition Lashes, Clinique

I was looking for a mascara which combined comb and brush as I am a fan of combs for lashes, and Clinique seemed to be the best choice. I have not been disappointed. It coats even the smallest lashes, one by one. You have to use the brush first, for length, and then the comb, for volume. I have experienced no smudging.

Buscaba una máscara de pestañas que tuviera peine y cepillo porque soy fan de los peines en sí para las pestañas y Clinique parecía la mejor opción. No me ha decepcionado. Alcanza incluso las pestañas más chiquititas una a una. Se utiliza primero el cepillo, para alargar, seguido del peine, para dar volumen.

♥ Eyeshadow - Sombra

Sin, Urban Decay

It is so difficult to choose just one but I have decided to include Sin because it works great as an all over colour but it can also be used to highlight. It is a beautiful golden peach shimmer colour which makes my eye look clean but done for an every day look. It has a very rich pigmentation and a smooth texture.

Es muy difícil elegir sólo una pero al final le ha tocado a Sin porque puedo usarla como color para todo el párpado pero también sólo como sombra iluminadora y es precisamente por su versatilidad por lo que la he elegido. Se trata de un tono melocotón dorado con shimmer que proporciona un look nítido pero pulido para el día a día. Tienen una pigmentación y una duración excelentes.

♥ Eyeliner

L'eyeliner Noir, The Black Eyeliner, YSL

I am in the process of mastering the cat-eyes look and this is Catanya's little helper. Yes, indeed, it has given me the best results in comparison with other eyeliners I have tried. The blackest black, easy to use, (this is a stiff and thin brush which makes a thin even line), and long-lasting. Definitely the best liquid eyeliner I have ever tried.

Sigo tratando de conseguir el efecto felino en los ojos, y éste es mi pequeño ayudante. Sí, es cierto que gracias a él he conseguido las lineas más rectas y finas que con ningún otro eyeliner liquido. El color es negro intenso y el pincel es finito y firme para poder conseguir una linea apropiada. Sencillamente el mejor eyeliner que he probado.

You have to love this one. I adore the soft and shy pinky shade and the smooth, butter-like texture of Lazy Day. It is an elegant and sophisticated shade of pale pink which a creamy and glossy finish. Perfect for smokey looks as it adds just a hint of colour to your lips and makes them look polished and pretty.

Imposible que no me gustara... me encanta el tono rosa suave y delicado y la textura hidratante y cremosa de Lazy Day. Es un color elegante y sofisticado, con un acabado glossy irresistible. Combina de maravilla con looks ahumados ya que aporta la dosis justa de color y deja los labios con un acabado favorecedor.

Who can resist to the lipgloss that Kim Kardashian says to love? A light, baby pink gloss which pairs great with nude and pink lipsticks.

Most of the time, our skin reflects our feelings and mood and we usually tend to fight the negative effects that stress, problems and the daily hustle and bustle have on our skin with the help of more or less expensive treatments and concealing makeups (I am the best example of this). En la mayoría de los casos, la piel es reflejo de nuestras emociones y estados de ánimo y casi siempre tratamos de contrarrestar los efectos negativos que el estrés, los problemas y el ajetreo diario tienen en nuestra piel con tratamientos más o menos caros y maquillaje correctores, (yo, la primera). Sin embargo, debemos tener en cuenta que muchas veces nuestra piel nos está pidiendo que simplemente la dejemos respirar y la tratemos con respeto y con dulzura. Cuando tenemos la piel grasa, solemos recurrir a productos astringentes, cremas matificantes y jabones que pueden llegar a resecar. Utilizamos desmaquillantes, geles, serums, cremas hidratantes, productos para los granitos, más luego nuestra prebase, base de maquillaje, corrector, polvos, etc etc. Y cuanto peor tenemos la piel, más la saturamos con productos. Es común ver a nuestro alrededor a personas con pieles bonitas, casi perfectas que llaman la atención porque reflejan salud y en numerosas ocasiones si les preguntamos, nos responderán que no llevan una rutina especial ni son particularmente meticulosos con los cuidados de la piel. Puede ser por genética, por llevar una vida saludable, la alimentación y en definitiva por multitud de factores que todos conocemos pero lo que no debemos olvidar es que muchas veces, menos es más y la piel se merece un pequeño respiro.

I did not want to use a soap bar on my face despite the fact that I have read many times that the best cleanser (and cheapest) was the famous Dove soap bar. My dermatologist had recommended me Avene Cold Cream Cleanser, which is especially designed for sensitive skin and I decided to try it. I thought it was going to dry my skin, as soap bars are said to do so. But what I have found is an efficient cleansing product, which I can use day and night, lasts months, and that is really inexpensive.

The biggest downside is that you need to store it properly so that it does not get in touch with bacteria. I keep it on a small soap tray inside my bathroom closet.

Tenía bastante miedo de las pastillas de jabón para el rostro a pesar de haber leído muchas veces que el mejor jabón para la cara es la archiconocida (y baratísima) pastilla de Dove. Mi dermatóloga me había recomendado el Pan Limpiador Dermatológico Cold Cream de Avéne y al fin me decidí a probarlo. Lo que más me preocupaba es que resecara mucho la piel, dado que este formato suele tener esa fama. Lo que me he encontrado es con un producto muy eficaz para limpiar el rostro por la mañana y por la noche, que no me ha resecado y que cunde muchísimo, ya que una pastilla de jabón dura varios meses y su precio es muy económico.

Quizá el mayor inconveniente sea la conservación, dado que es importante que se guarde en un lugar lo más higiénico posible para que no entre en contacto con bacterias. Yo lo tenía en una jabonera dentro del armario del baño.

My 28th Birthday

Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday on Tuesday. I was overwhelmed.
I had a lovely birthday party, and as usual I invited my family for coffee and cake. The cake was ordered from "Mis Dulces 26", a new store in town and, let me tell you, it was as delicious as it looks.

Muchas gracias a todos los que os pasásteis a felicitarme el cumple el martes, fue muy especial para mí.

Tuve una fiesta de cumpleaños muy entrañable y tranquila y como de costumbre me reuní con mi familia para tomar café y soplar las velas. Encargué la tarta en "Mis Dulces 26", una nueva tienda de cupcakes y delicias que hay en la ciudad y os aseguro que estaba tan deliciosa como aparenta.

I had quite a relaxed morning, just answering phone calls and arranging everything for the afternoon. All in all, a fabulous evening and an amazing 28th Birthday, even though I missed some people who could not make it to the party. One of my favourite pressies was this little branch of mistletoe, which was immediately hung and provokes the customary kissing.

La mañana fue tranquila, contestando llamadas telefónicas y preparándolo todo para la tarde que en resumen fue muy divertida aunque eché de menos a algunas personas que no pudieron venir. Uno de mis regalos favoritos fue una ramita de muérdago que ya está colgada convenientemente para cumplir la tradición de los besitos al pasar por debajo.

Another of my favourite presents was a bottle of my favourite perfume of all times, "4711". This is the fragance I used as a child, the one that my mum would give me for Christmas. My boyfee had the great idea of giving me a bottle of this and I was so grateful. The scent brings me so many memories from the past.

Otro de mis regalos favoritos fue este frasco de mi perfume preferido, "4711". Era la fragancia que utilizaba de niña, la que mi madre solía regalarme por Navidad. Mr D tuvo la brillante idea de traérmela para el cumple y estoy encantada. Me trae muchos recuerdos de la infancia.

Tutorial: Nude Skin, Bright Eyes

Skin is prep and primed with MAC Strobe Cream, after using my current moisturizer, Clinique Dramatically Different Gel.
I applied Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions liquid foundation in shade nº2, with my fingers. I started from the centre of the face and I blended outwards. I concentrate on my "problem" areas, cheeks and chin, and just a light touch on the rest of the face.
With a concealer brush, I apply Vichy Dermablend foundation in the shade 15 Opal on spots and scars.

Empezamos con la piel preparada con la hidratante de Clinique Dramatically Different Gel y MAC Strobe Cream
Como base, utilicé Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions en el tono nº2, aplicada con los dedos desde el centro del rostro, y difuminando rápidamente hacia afuera. Insistí en las zonas más problemáticas, como son las mejillas y la barbilla, dejando el resto de la piel con muy poco maquillaje.
Con una brocha para corrector, apliqué a pequeños toques Vichy Dermablend en el tono 15 Opal, en las marquitas y granitos.

Eyes:

I use Urban Decay Primer Potion all over the lid. On top, using Sigma E25, I apply MAC Vintage Selection Paint Pot. Then, I use Yves Saint Laurent L'eyeliner Black in a winged-eye shape. In the waterline, I used Urban Decay zero pencil. Then, I applied Clinique All About Eyes concealer under the eyes. As a mascara, I used Clinique High Definition lashes.

I added a bit of definition to the face using MAC Beach Bronze Cream Bronzer in under the cheekbones with MAC 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush.
For the lips, after a light coat of Kiehls Lip Balm, I am using MAC Myth.

Para los ojos, comencé con Urban Decay Primer Potion sobre el párpado. A continuación, con la brocha E25 de Sigma, apliquñe el Paint Pot de MAC Vintage Selection. Después, con el Eyeliner Black de YSL, rasgué los extremos del ojo ligeramente. Apliqué después el lápiz de Urban Decay zero en la waterline y el corrector para ojeras y bolsas All About Eyes Concealer de Clinique. Como máscara de pestañas, estoy usando la High Definition Lashes de Clinique.
Para dar un poco de definición al rostro, utilicé el bronceador en crema de MAC "Beach Bronze" bajo el hueso del pómulo con la brocha de MAC 130.
En los labios, tras aplicar el bálsamo labial de Kiehls, utilicé el nude de MAC Myth.

As you can see, this is a very basic makeup look, which can be used on a daily basis, but the little detail of a bright paint pot adds some warmth overall.

No doubt, one of the best things of this year 2011 was to be able to meet Patricia in person, the living example of the fact that sometimes, Internet can be just wonderful, putting marvellous people in your way. When I met Patri for the first time, it was as if I had known her all my life. Of course, I have been reading her lovely blog, following her on Twitter, and watching her on screen in her vídeos. This "Green Fairy" (her nickname translated into English) has been the reason for this Lush haul (or maybe it was me?). Never mind, we have been tempting each other ever since we started talking.

Sin duda, uno de los regalos que me deja 2011 es haber podido conocer en persona a Patricia, el ejemplo vivo de que, a veces, Internet puede ser maravilloso y puede ponerte en el camino gente genial. Cuando vi a Patri por primera vez, no hicieron falta las presentaciones, fue como si la conociera de toda la vida, y es que ya desde hacía tiempo la leía en su blog, en Twitter casi a diario, y la conocía por sus vídeos. Esta Hadita Verde es la "culpable" de mi haul de Lush de hoy (¿o fui yo?), bueno el caso es que como buenas potingueras nos hemos ido tentando la una a la otra en los últimos meses.

This was an order made by three friends and I to Lush Uk. The parcel arrived in approximately one week and they were so kind as to include a sample of soap for each of us.

I decided to repeat with some products. there can be no Christmas without a bottle of Snow fairy and Mr. D stealing it for his own showers. Flying Fox was also chosen for its powerful and feminie scent, full of jazmin and honey. Then I decided to risk and try two new products, a body lotion called Skin Sin and the enchanting Magic Wand.

Nos juntamos cuatro amigas y decidimos hacer un pedido a Lush Uk. El pedido llegó en aproximadamente una semana y tuvieron la amabilidad de incluir una muestra de jabón para cada una de nosotras.

En mi caso, aposté por viejos conocidos. No hay Navidad en la que mi baño no huela a Snow Fairy, y no pille a Mr. D robándomelo en la ducha. Flying Fox es irresistiblemente femenino y sensual, por su toque de jazmín y miel. Aún así, no quise dejar pasar la oportunidad de probar dos productos nuevos: Skin Sin Body Lotion y, como va de hadas la cosa, una varita mágica llamada Magic Wand para la bañera.

Magic Wand

Uh, blame that super childish side that makes throw myself over everyting pink, yummy and magical... Every single item in Lush Christmas range has this effect on me. This Magic Wand, with the same scent of Snow Fairy, is to be used in the bathtube, to make lots of foam and bubbles. Pink ribbon and bell included.

¡Ah! Maldito lado infantil que me impulsa a lanzarme sobre todo lo rosita, goloso y con pinta de mágico... Toda la sección de Navidad tiene un punto así y tuve que hacer soberanos esfuerzos para no caer con más cosas. Al final, esta varita mágica, que todavía no he estrenado, me espera para llenar la bañera de color rosa y aroma a Snow Fairy. Lazo rosa y cascabel incluido.

Skin Sin

I was eager to try this body lotion but in the end I am quite disappointed. It is true that I like the light feeling of it on my skin, and how fast it is absorbed but I expected a more special scent, full of cherries, something definitely more "lush". I have tried other lotions such as Karma and Dream Cream and they are so intense and original... Skin Sin is not unique and it is not special.

Estaba deseando probar Skin Sin, y qué rabia la decepción que me he llevado. Si bien es cierto que me gusta su textura suave y ligera y el hecho de que se absorba rápidamente, me esperaba un aroma a cerezas mucho más intenso y más "lush". Acostumbrada a otras lociones de la marca como Karma o Dream Cream, que tienen ese olor tan particular, Skin Sin se me queda corto.

Flying Fox

As I have said before, I chose Flying Fox every time I make a Lush order since I love how feminine and aphrodisiac. Its most highlighted scents are honey, jasmine and ylan ylangg. And, wait, the best part is that it is said to calm our PMT!

Como ya os he comentado antes, siempre que tengo oportunidad de hacer un pedido a Lush, me hago con una botellita de Flying Fox. Adoro lo femenino y afrodisiaco que es. Sus notas predominantes son la miel, el jazmín y el Ylang Ylang. Lo mejor viene ahora: se dice, se comenta, se rumorea, que alivia a calmar los síntomas del SPM...

Snow Fairy

This is the shower gel of princesses, fairies, little girls (and some big boys too), the gel of candy, of all the things pink, sparkles, (yes, it does have some tiny glitter in it), the one of Christmas time. The one that can be used on your hair. That, whose scent will last in your bathroom hours after shower time. The one almost edible. That which can't be missing. Don't you know it yet?

Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner

I started reading about Bioderma this very same year and I was really looking forward to trying their products, especially the sebium Pore Refiner, which has great reviews in the Internet. I have been using it for the past two weeks and so far, so good. It leaves my skin really matte and soft and it somehow reduced the appearance of my pores, especially on my cheeks and chin area. It is too soon to say if the effects are long-term so I will wait for some weeks more.

In just 1 word: promising

Hace tiempo que leo excelentes reviews de la linea de productos de Bioderma, y muy especialmente de este refinador de poros. Llevo usándolo sólo un par de semanas y de momento únicamente os puedo adelantar que deja la piel increíblemente mate y suave y que afina ligeramente el tamaño de los poros de mis mejillas y de la zona de la barbilla. Es pronto para aventurarse a decir si se trata de efectos a largo plazo o sólo de ilusión óptica así que os hablaré de ello en algunas semanas.

Inneov Detox

Being a skincare obsessed as I am, I have always been interested in Inneov Imperfections treatment. They are made by Nestle and L'oreal. This treatment consists of taking pills to improve the condition of our skin. It is a nutritional complemet designed to fight stress from the inside, helping to reduce imperfections such as spots and oiliness when they have an internal origin. I have been taking them for only a week and the treatment is supposed to last for a couple of months, so stay tune for results!

In just 1 word: purifying

Siempre me había picado la curiosidad con el tratamiento anti-imperfecciones de Inneov, fabricado por Nestle y L'oreal y de venta en farmacias. Consiste en mejorar la calidad de la piel por medio de unos comprimidos que no son otra cosa que un complemento nutricional destinado a combatir el stress de la piel desde el interior, y así, ayudar a reducir los granitos y puntos negros que tienen causas internas. Sólo las llevo tomando una semana y el tratamiento tiene una duración mínima de dos meses así que si os interesa, os contaré cómo va el proceso al cabo de ese tiempo.

I used this facial scrub for the first time years ago when my dermatologist prescribed it to me to help reduce my mild acne. I love the tingly feeling you get when you use it and how smooth it leaves my skin. It can be a little too hars for too sensitive skins but I especially recommend it for oily and even combination skins.

In just one word: effective

Utilicé este exfoliante facial hace algunos años, recomendado por mi dermatóloga como pare de la rutina facial para combatir acné leve. En cierto modo, me gusta la sensación de cosquilleo que produce en la piel al masajearlo, y sobre todo, lo suave que deja el rostro. Puede resultar, quizá, demasiado agresivo en pieles muy delicadas pero a las pieles grasas e incluso mixtas, les puede encantar.

La Roche Posay Dermo-Cleanser

This is a very efficient cleansing milk. I was sent a 50ml sample size but I had already used this a couple of years ago. I like how it gently removes any traces of makeup without drying out my skin. It is especially designed for sensitive skins and you can also use it on your eyes.

In just 1 word: soothing

Se trata de una leche limpiadora muy agradable de utilizar. Me enviaron el tamaño de viaje de 50ml pero ya había tenido ocasión de probarlo hace un par de años. Me agrada lo suave que es con la piel, sin descuidar lo fácilmente que retira el maquillaje sin resacar, incluso en los ojos. Está especialmente pensado para pieles sensibles.

I had also tried this some time ago and I loved the fact that it comes in mono-doses so you can take it with you when you travel. It is the best eyemakeup remover I have tried for extremely sensitive eyes.

So here is the story,

I used to think that Hunter boots were the common ugly fishermen's shoes. That it was completely unconceivable to spend a grand total of 100€ on these plain shoes. Then I started to spot them featured on looks on Tumblr, Chitopia etc and I thought "Well, they do not look that bad...". After a whole week of heavy rain here, in which I got home with wet feet every.single.day, I jumped on the bandwagon. Of course, a generous 20% discount from Asos really helped. I chose the ones called Hunter Original Gloss Wellington Boots. Link.

Ésta es la historia...
Antes pensaba que las botas Hunter eran, hablando claro, bastante feuchas, las típicas botas de pescador. Que era difícil justificar los 100€ que cuestan en unas botas de ese estilo. Luego empecé a verlas en looks de webs como Tumblr, Chictopia, etc y me dije "Bueno, no quedan tan mal...". Tras una semana en la que no paraba de llover, y en la que llegaba a casa con los pies mojados cada día, me lié la manta a la cabeza. Desde luego, ayudó mucho un código de descuento del 20% en Asos, estratégicamente colocado en aquellos días. Me decidí por el modelo Hunter Original Gloss Wellington Boots. Link.

When I saw Kate's photos at the British Fashion Awards 2011, I knew she was re-stating this holidays trend: the perfect red lips.

She is the one when it comes to trend-setting, nobody can doubt that. I made a shy attempt to try her red-lippie look and here it is what it came out.

Cuando vi las imágenes de Kate en los British Fashion Awards 2011, sabía que estaba reafirmando cuál va a ser la tendencia en maquillaje para estas fiestas: los labios rojos.

Es la mejor en lo que se refiere a marcar tendencia. He aquí mi tímido intento de emular el look Labios Rojos.

As you can see, it still is a softer version of Kate's superbright makeup since I find myself ackward in brights... (although Mr. D says he loves it!).

Como podéis ver, se trata de una versión más suave del rojo super vibrante que luce Kate en las fotos, ya que me sigo viendo rara con los labios muy marcados... (aunque a D, le encantan!)

Rimmel London sent me this lipstick a few weeks ago and I am completely thrilled. They are part of "The Brit Collection" and with Kate Moss as their brand image, I cannot be more excited.

Packaging is beautiful, with the little crown on top and Kate's signature in all of them. They are all long-lasting and very moisturizing and they have a creamy matte finish. The greatest feature of these lipsticks is their extraordinary pigmentation. You can find several different shades available (5 in Spain) and they all smell delicious.

Recibí este labial de la nueva colección de Kate Moss para Rimmel London llamada "The Brit Collection". Viene presentado de forma muy elegante, con el grabado de la pequeña corona en la tapa y la firma de Kate en cada uno de ellos. Son de larga duración y a pesar de tener un acabado mate son muy cremosos e hidratantes. Para mí, el aspecto más interesante es su alta pigmentación. En España se pueden encontrar 5 tonos diferente y todos huelen de maravilla.

One of our makeup essentials is eyemakeup remover. I tend to look for inexpensive options which work well and are careful with sensitive eyes, as I am a contact lens user. I have tried many and so far I always rely on Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. At 5,99€ 125ml, it ismy all time favourite.

Uno de los productos básicos en maquillaje es el desmaquillante de ojos. Suelo decantarme por opciones económicas que limpien bien pero que a la vez sean suaves con los ojos, puesto que utilizo lentillas. He probado varios pero me quedo con el desmaquillador para ojos resistente al agua de Sephora. (Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover). A un precio de 5,99€ el bote de 125ml, es mi favorito.

My choice

I like how gentle it is to my eyes but yet how efficiently it removes any traces of eye makeup. I also like the texture that results from shaking together the two layers, not oil and not water but something in between. And I also kind of like the baby blue colour of the whole mixture.

It removes eyeshadow, eyeliner, khol etc easily although you may need some extra effort with heavy mascara. I do not find it irritating to my eyes although it is true that I do not suffer from extreme sensitivity.

Me gusta lo suave que es con los ojos pero cómo a la vez elimina el maquillaje eficazmente. Tiene una textura muy agradable cuando mezclamos las dos fases, que no es ni demasiado líquida ni demasiado grasa. Y en cierto modo me atrae el color azul bebé que resulta de la mezcla.

Elimina máscara, eyeliner, khol, etc.fácilmente aunque es cierto que con varias capas de máscara le cuesta un poquito más. No me irrita en absoluto si bien es cierto que no tengo los ojos extremadamente sensibles.

Other Eye Makeup Removers

There is a non-waterproof mascara by Spehora which I have read is not as good as this one so if you are planning to get it make sure you get the waterproof version.

I have also had good experiences with Soft Eye Makeup Remover by Yves Rocher, and Garnier Gentle Clean & Fresh which are also some of my favourites.

"Molten Metal" are Sleek highly pigmented metallic eye shadow duos. They have just launched a new duo called "Steel and Ash", a combination of graphite and silver, which is perfect for a dark and gothic look. They are actually designed as multi-purpose products, for eyes, lips and cheeks though the shades make this a little limited. There is also another duo available, launched in January 2011, called "Pewter & Gold Leaf".

"Molten Metal" es la propuesta de Sleek en sombras en crema, de acabado metálico y en formato dúo. Tienen una alta pigmentación y acaban de lanzarse en la combinación "Steel & Ash", un tono grafito y otro plata, que servirán para conseguir looks sofisticados o incluos de estilo gótico. Los duos "Molten Metal" están pensados como productos multiusos para ojos, labios y mejillas aunque los tonos propuestos limitan un poco esta versatilidad. Existe también el "Pewter & Gold Leaf", en tonos oro, lanzado en enero de 2011.

Get the Look:

For starry, smouldering eyes, highlight the inner corner and brow bone using Steel. Use Ash in the outer corner, and contour and line the eyes.

Consigue el look:
Para un ahumado sofisticado, ilumina la < interna del ojo y el hueso de la ceja con el tono Steel. Utiliza Ash para delinear el ojo y marcar la < externa.

Overall:

They are extremely pigmented and smooth and one layer is just enough to get a vivid look. They apply easily with a synthetic brush, or even with your finger if you are in a rush. Unfortunately, I have found that they do crease a little on the eyelid, especially after a couple of hours. They seem to work better as a base for other eyeshadows, intensifying the colour and adding extra shimmer.

En resumen:
Hablamos de duos de sombras en crema de una pigmentación excelente y un tacto cremoso y sedoso. Con tan solo una capa se consigue un look muy vivo. Se aplican fácilmente con un pincel sintético o incluso con los dedos cuando vamos con prisa. Por desgracia, la utopía de que no se forman pliegues no se cumple, puesto que sí que tienden a acumularse con el paso de las horas. Funcionan mejor como base para otras sombras en polvo, creando un efecto más intenso y añadiendo una dosis extra de brillo.

♥ Apply them using a synthetic brush and blend

♥ Apply eyeshadow on top.

Meteorites are small powder balls in different colours which have different purposes depending on the shade you choose. They can be considered as a finishing powder, as they give the skin an amazing glow, but they can also be used as a highlighter or even as a blusher. It is important to say thay they are extremely subtle so some people may find it hard to notice as there is no glitter and no shimmer attached to them, just a glowy and velvety halo.

Los meteoritos son pequeñas bolitas de polvos en diferentes colores que sirven para diversas funciones dependiendo de la tonalidad elegida. Pueden considerarse un polvo de acabado, dado que dejan un velo de luminosidad en la piel, pero ciertamente pueden también utilizarse como iluminador o incluso colorete. Son extremadamente sutiles y de ahí que mucha gente diga que "no se le nota". Al aplicarlos, el efecto no es evidente, e incluso puede costar verlos. No tienen glitter ni shimmer pero proporcionan un acabado luminoso y aterciopelado a la piel.

The range typically includes three different shades, 01 TEINT ROSE, 02 TEINT BEIGE and 03 TEINT DORÉ (the one I have) although there are also limited editions like the one launched for this Christmas 2011, Meteorites Perles de Nuit.

La linea fija tiene tres tonalidades, 01 TEINT ROSE, 02 TEINT BEIGE and 03 TEINT DORÉ y el que veis en las imágenes es precisamente el 03, Teint Doré. También se sacan periódicamente ediciones limitadas como la de estas Navidades, llamada Meteorites Perles de Nuit.

The meteorites have a delicate floral scent which reminds me of violets.

The Perfect Brush for them:

I recommend a medium to large powder brush with these or a kabuki. A stippling brush would not work well as it would make the effect even more subtle. On the contrary, a flat powder brush will add intensity. Guerlain offers a special brush designed for Meteorites but if you are looking for other options, I would recommend Trish McEvoy #37, MAC 129 or Japonesque Pro Powder Brush.

La brocha perfecta para los Meteoritos:

Es recomendable aplicarlos con una brocha de tamaño medio-grande, o incluso una kabuki. No es muy útil aplicarlos con una mofeta ya que restaría aún más intensidad al producto y cabe destacar que con brocha plana se consigue un efecto más intenso.

Guerlain ofrece su propia brocha para meteoritos pero si os apetecen otras opciones os recomendaría: la número 37 de Trish McEvoy, MAC 129 o Japonesque Pro Powder Brush.

Diorskin Icône Makeup Look

Sometimes it is good to give a second chance...

I bought Diorskin Icône foundation focusing on the "Photo Perfect Creme-to-Powder Makeup" legend and I was disappointed for ages. My skin just did not like it. It looked cakey and emphasized the drier patches on my skin. It remained untouched for some months till I decided to give it another opportunity some weeks ago, after my encounter witth Estee Lauder Double Wear. I tried a couple of tools and I liked how after all I managed to make it work. Both using a wet sponge and a stippling brush, it looked quite polished and luminous and with a medium to high coverage. So what happened, then? Well, I must admit there is something else. I have been using it over Skin79 Dream Girls BB cream and the combination is marvellous. I think the BB cream evens out my skin tone and it also adds extra moisture so the Dior foundation fits better.

A veces merece la pena dar una segunda oportunidad...

Compré la base Diorskin Icône centrándome en la inscripción "Maquillaje crema-polvo de acabado perfecto para fotografía" y la tuve aparcada durante mucho tiempo. A mi piel no le iba nada bien, quedaba a parches y marcaba mucho las zonas más secas de la piel. Hace algunas semanas decidí darle otra oportunidad, tras mi desencuentro con la Double Wear de Lauder. Tanto con una esponjita húmeda como con una brocha mofeta, conseguí que quedase mejor en la piel. Al final, resultó dejar un acabado muy pulido y luminoso, con una cobertura media-alta. ¿Qué pasó, entonces? Debo admitir que hay algo más... El hecho de que la utilizara sobre la BB cream de Skin79 "Dream Girls" produjo este cambio a mejor. Creo que la BB cream iguala previamente el tono de la piel y le aporta más hidratación y por todo ello la base de Dior sienta mejor.

Texture: very thick and concentrated.

Coverage: medium to high. It is really buildable and it blends easily onto the skin.

Finish: incredibly lightweight on the skin, it finishes to a powder effect.

Shades: I use it in 020 Beige Clair which I believe will work for NC15 and NC20 alike.

Bonus: great for photography, makes skin look flawless.

Textura: muy densa y concentrada.
Cobertura: media-alta. Es muy modulable y se extiende fácilmente.
Acabado: se siente muy ligera en la piel y deja un acabado aterciopelado.

Tonos: la utilizo en el tono 020 Beige Clair que creo que podría irle bien a NC15 y NC20.

Extra: queda especialmente bonita en fotografía, pues hace que la piel quede muy uniforme.
