Kutch
A visit to the Kutch region of Gujarat is one way of adding more color to your India travel. The tribal villages here give tourists a taste of a certain distinct lifestyle and culture, which is very different from that seen in India's many urban metropolises. Some of the hand-embroidered bed linen and other handicrafts produced by the local artisans are indeed impressive.
Wildlife sanctuaries in the region provide a glimpse of the endangered Indian Wild Ass and other animals. The Lalit Mahal Palace in Mandvi allows a peek into the lives of the royal families of yore.
Resorts and cottages modeled along the lines of tribal hutments are available for accommodation in this place.
Udaipur
Tucked away in Rajasthan in the northwestern section of the country, Udaipur is best known for its old palaces which have now been converted into luxury heritage hotels. The City Palace and the Lake Palace are two of these, and they have even been used as venues for a number of celebrity weddings.
Udaipur is also known for its many scenic lakes. One of the most famous among these is Lake Pichola in the midst of which the Lake Palace is built.

Activities To Enjoy In Egypt Vacation Packages

Egypt vacation packages are numerous for any tourist. This was the first half-mile stretch of the Launceston Steam Railway (LSR), which was progressively extended to reach it's current terminus at Newmills. The line was built on a disused standard gauge (4' 8½"/1435mm) trackbed which was chosen by the founder as a suitable site to run his own restored locomotive. With the addition of further locomotives and rolling stock, it has grown into a popular tourist attraction and has all the facilities visitors would expect on a British heritage railway. This article examines the history, stock, operation and future of the Launceston Steam Railway.
The first railway to reach the Cornish town was the Launceston and South Devon Railway which opened in 1865 and was absorbed into the Great Western Railway (GWR). In 1886 the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) opened its line from Halwill Junction to Launceston with the station adjacent to the GWR terminus. This line was extended in stages to Padstow in the 1890s and was grouped into the Southern Railway (SR) in 1923. After nationalisation into British railways in 1948, the former GWR line closed in 1962 and the former SR line closed three years later.

Last Minute Holidays Are Always Fun

Last minute holidays are always the most successful and energizing ones. We live in a world where planning is crucial due to our hectic schedules and lives, but once or twice a year we get to go on direct holidays where relaxation, fun, recharging our batteries is what we do all the time. Whenever we plan our holidays, usually something will come up, like a last minute project, or a last minute business trip, or some kind of a family event, problems with the kids or the wife, stuff like that can totally ruin the will to go on vacation.
As last minute holidays are always unplanned we do not have time to worry about details, details can be really bugging and can take up a lot of our time, so we will feel the need to allocate time to plan details as well. Some people over do it. So it is not advisable to pay attention to details. Just let loose for once. After all, that is all what last minute holidays are all about.
That is all, vacations in general, are all about. No worries, no cell phones, no responsibilities, no one to bother us, just relaxing in the hot summer sun, or the fresh mountain air, climbing hills, discovering territories, visiting history sites, visiting other countries, capitals, remote places or villages, experiencing other cultures.

Tour of Cozumel

Allan and I spent a wonderful working day exploring the island of Cozumel on a highlights tour. Certainly any day spent snorkeling, relaxing on the beach and touring a tropical island is bound to be a superb day in my book. Although Allan and I have been to Cozumel before, we enjoyed reconnecting with the island after not having been in over a year and also appreciated the guided tour which revealed many facets of the island to which we were previously unaware.
We started the day with a leisurely stroll down 5th Avenue to meet up with the tour group in front of Sr. Frogs by the ferry terminal. Round trip tickets (included in the tour price) were distributed by our tour leader, and we boarded the ferry for the scenic and thankfully tranquil 50 minute passage to Cozumel. Being prone to sea sickness, I am not one for boats, but given the guided tour of Cozumel I was able to overcome the limited discomfort for a daytime of fun.
In Cozumel we boarded a safari type bus which was a mix between a cargo truck decked out in camouflage and an army transport vehicle. Our first stop was the famous snorkeling spot, Chankanaab. Cozumel has the second largest barrier reef in the world, and Chankanaab is known for its snorkeling. The water ranges from 10 to 30 feet in depth and is marked by large coral formations, bright purple fans and a kaleidoscope of colorful marine creatures.

Peruvian Camelids

Of Peru's two wild camelids, guanacos and vicunas, guanacos are the larger. From the ground to the top of their heads, they measure up to 182 cm in height, up to 122 cm to the shoulder. Their bodies can be as long as 6 feet and they can weigh as much as 125 kg. Although similar in look to the llama, the guanaco has straighter hair and pointed ears by which it can be distinguished.
These animals can be found living in the wild from the north of Peru all the way down to Patagonia. Generally, they live higher than 12000 feet. They can run quite fast, up to 56 km per hour, and swim well also. They are typically found in herds of many females with one male. Usually, a group of males will move to new spots without a leader.
Of the four South American camelids, vicuñas are the smallest and are more delicate than the Guanaco. They are around 91 cm in height at the shoulder and have a typical weight of around 45 kg. They are known particularly for their fine wool which is valuable and considered the highest in quality of the four species. A man's coat can cost around $20,000.
The animal was protected in the time of the Incas and only the royalty could wear garments made from its wool. It was said that vicuñafter accepting the advances of a king who was old and ugly there were reincarnations for a beautiful young girl.

Hearing The Andes: Huayno

When traveling around the city of Cusco and the regions surrounding it, one of the most common types of music you will hear is Huayno. This genre generally features a female vocalist singing in a very high-pitched voice.
With ears from Europe or North America, it is possible to notice similar vocals to that of the Chinese opera or India. On rare occasions, it is possible to hear these traditional songs with vocalists from a male and the difference is surprising.
Huayno originated in the Andes in colonial Peru, although it now can be found in Bolivia and, to a lesser extent, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile. Mixing current dance music with the folk songs of tradition you receive a nice blend. Accompanying instruments can include the flute, panpipe, guitar, lute, charango, accordion, harp, mandolin and saxophone. Almost always, the panpipes will be featured and are sometimes the principal or even only instrument. A distinctive aspect of the music apart from the vocals is the rhythm. Melbourne's Festival of Sails, Australia's largest keel boat regatta and the oldest sporting event in Victoria, speaks about the Australians' love for the sea and sports. Held regularly during the celebration of Australia Day, the event is watched by thousands and features 450 yachts and over 4,500 competitors. Live concerts, roving performers, and festivals of food, wine and arts complete the happenings along the Geelong waterfront.
Aside from this, the Melbourne Festival occupies the city's festivities calendar for more than 2 weeks in October. It's the state's grandest presentation of local and international artists in the fields of dance, theatre, music, visual arts, multimedia, and more.
Less than an hour from Melbourne are the rolling acres of vineyards of Yarra Valley and the secret fern glades and forests of Dandenong Ranges. These areas boast events that promote not just food and wine, but also heritage and arts, like the Healesville Railway Heritage Festival and the Yarrra Valley Open Studios. The Healesville Railway Heritage Festival reminds people of the Healesville railway terminal of the early 1900s and the industry and lifestyle associated with it. Heritage train rides, vintage cars, blacksmiths, paper making, and other such features on culture and tradition are shown in this event. The Yarra Valley Open Studios, meanwhile, showcases the life and works of various local artists interestingly exhibited in the vineyard setting.

Guidelines for Booking an Airport Taxi Ride

Whether traveling for business or pleasure, one important consideration for any trip is transportation to and from the airport. While there are many options for airport transportation, one of the more popular choices is to take a taxi. While taxi transportation is very convenient and often the most cost-effective option, it can also turn into your worst nightmare with the wrong company or insufficient planning (you've likely heard a story about someone getting "taken for a ride" or missing their flight due to a missed taxi pick-up). By following a few guidelines, however, you can ensure successful taxicab travels and a happy begging and ending to any trip.
Your first consideration in your travel is determining which taxicab company to use. For airport transportation it is always best to use an airport taxi service. This is a company that specializes in airport transportation and understands the processes that are involved in picking-up and dropping-off passengers at the airport. Airport taxi companies typically have words "airport taxi" in the company name. If you are traveling in an unfamiliar city or do not often take taxis, it is always best to do a little research or ask for advice on which taxicab company to use. Some simple research can be done in just a couple of minutes by doing a quick Google search and then reading a few reviews of a potential taxicab company. If you know someone who travels often, give them a quick call to see what taxicab service they use. If you are staying at a hotel, ask the front desk clerk. It is recommended that you always use a company that provides you with a flat rate for your airport transportation. A flat rate ensures that you will pay the same price regardless of traffic conditions and which route the driver takes.

Cultural Background for Studying Spanish in Buenos Aires: Argentine History Part II of IV

People first settled in the region that is now Argentina back about 13,000 years ago. However, written history can be traced back to about 1516 when Juan Diaz de Solis explored the Rio de la Plata River. The second period of time in Argentina is considered to be the colonial period, which lasted from about 1516 to 1810. When you study Spanish in Argentina, this is another important period of time that you should be aware of.
In 1502, the Europeans arrived in the area that is now Argentina. Different explorers set up different small settlements. Pedro de Mendoza set up a settlement in the area that is now Buenos Aires in about 1536. However, this region was abandoned by 1541. Other settlements were set up in 1573 and 1580 respectively. It is interesting to note that since were no precious metals in the area, the colonization of the Argentine area was not influenced by a gold rush as it was in many other regions.
During this colonial time period, the ships and ports were to go through the port of Callao, which was near Lima. Therefore, they were not permitted to go through the Rio de la Plata estuary. As a result, the commerce in the areas that is now Buenos Aires consisted largely of contraband.
In 1776, the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata was established. This move raised the status of this area, which not only was made up of Argentina, but also Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay. Once this Viceroyalty was set up, the port began to get very popular for shipping goods and became a major commercial area. Plus, cattle were raised to produce items like leather to export from the Rio de la Plata area. Of course, when you attend Spanish school in Buenos Aires, you will notice that leather goods are still quite popular.
The fact is that it's precisely because of this state of affairs that you need to consider taking time out for a spa weekend, a city weekend break, or to just pamper yourself at home with a few luxury items you've purchased locally.
Because of the downturn and all the associated doom and gloom, there is less interest in luxury items (whether that's cars, holidays, weekend breaks or clothes and accessories). But this is where it benefits you!
This lack of interest due to people being more conservative means that many luxury weekend breaks are now being offered at reduced rates. Which means that you can now afford to take a quick break to re-charge your batteries without it breaking the bank.
If you look at a weekend break as a necessity rather than a luxury, and weigh up the benefits versus the cost, you'll soon realise that it's an investment in your future and well worth spending money and time on.

Animals to Watch Out for While on Britain's Roads

One of the great things about being a courier driver is that you get to see a lot of interesting things outside your window. Aside from the beautiful landscapes and landmarks that you will see when driving around the UK, there are also a lot of animals that you may spot from time to time whilst on the job.
Here are some of the most common wild animals in the UK to look out for when you are driving during the day or night on courier jobs.
Badgers
These nocturnal creatures do appear in the day sometimes, but there is more chance you will come across them when the sun has set. They are very beautiful and still quite rare to see in most places, so it is always exciting to see one walking along at the side of the road whilst you zip past on your courier work. However, they are not too quick and can end up getting in the way of your vehicle so always be very careful if you do see one. They are also much more common to come across in the countryside than in the cities.

Getting the Most Out of Courier Work

If you work as a courier then you are probably someone who enjoys being out and about during the day and who loves to be on the road as much as possible. Courier work is a great way to earn a living, but there are some things you can do to make it more enjoyable still. Here are a few of the ways to get even more out of your job.
Stay Entertained
It's important not to get distracted whilst working on courier jobs, but there are still plenty of ways to stay entertained. One of the simplest is to make sure you have a few of your favourite CDs so that you always have some good music to listen to. It is also becoming increasingly popular to download podcasts from the internet to MP3 players, and you can then use an adaptor to play these in your vehicle whilst on courier jobs. That means you can download all your favourite shows to your computer and then listen to them whilst you are on the road.

Top Qualities of the Best Courier Drivers

Courier drivers have a great job, as you might well already know if you are working in this industry. However, not all drivers are the same and there are a number of qualities which all of the best courier drivers share. Here are some of the factors that you should consider if you want to make sure you are one of the best courier drivers on the road.
Born to Drive
The best drivers working on the UK's roads all share a love of driving. There is a lot of driving in this job so it makes sense that you should live and breathe driving. You can still be a good courier driver even if you don't love driving, but it certainly helps you to put more into your job, and you will also get a lot more out of it.
Patience on the Road
Patience is a hugely important quality for the best courier drivers. There are many instances on the road when you may feel like pulling out your hair in frustration - such as when you are stuck in a 10-mile long traffic jam with a delivery due in half an hour. In fact, courier jobs would be perfect - if it wasn't for that old 1970s song "convoy" that was subsequently turned into a film starring Kris Kristofferson and Ali MacGraw.
Let's be clear, there's nothing necessarily wrong with that film or its related song. The beef is really about how the two together have defined an iconic image that is inappropriately applied. What has that got to do with courier jobs? The problem is that large numbers of people associate anyone working in the courier industry with that archetypal road haulage imagery.
Now you may think that's not only no big deal but perhaps it's a good thing. After all, what's wrong with that cultural image of the check shirt, massively muscular and hairy arms gripping a semi's wheel - and a cavalier attitude to the law and bureaucracy? Well, maybe nothing, unless it's applied to you when your work as a courier bears absolutely no resemblance to that culture whatsoever.

Why Curtains Are A Perfect Fit For Your Boat

As the owner of a yacht or any other type of boat, you know that you need to have some sort of window treatments in the cabin. Without them, the cabin will not be the dark and relaxing place that you need it to be when you are staying on the boat overnight. You do not want to have to get off of the boat and find a hotel at each port just because the cabin is not dark enough to allow you to sleep. This is exactly what will happen if you do not put in some window treatments, though, and you should consider curtains before any other styles.
The main disadvantage to using blinds is that they move around too much. These might be ideal for a home, but a home has a sturdy foundation. A boat does not enjoy this luxury. It will rock on the waves and it will move in the wind. The blinds will swing with this movement, causing them to collide with the wall of the boat. This may not sound like a large problem, but it can keep you from getting any sleep. The plastic hitting against plastic will be a continual noise that will keep you wide awake.
When you hang up curtain poles with cloth curtains, you get around this problem. The cloth is ideal because it makes no noise whatsoever. You will be able to keep out even more light - dark cloth will hold this light out much better than the cheap white plastic that makes up most blinds - and so you will not be bothered in any way. This is ideal for those who want to take long trips on their boat or those who make a living by carrying passengers on overnight voyages.

Top Local Dishes to Enjoy on Menorca Holidays

No holiday is a success without expertly prepared food and the opportunity to experience new flavours in tasty local dishes. They can be in form of floating rigs, work platforms, fixed rigs or lift boats. They are designed in various ways in accordance with the functions they would be performing and are generally built to work in the harsh environment of the open sea.
Moreover, they are also used as construction vessels with equipment in place for the task to be performed. Construction of other large sea platforms like oil rigs can also be carried out with accommodation barges. Their size is determined by the task they are set out to perform. The biggest vessel can accommodate more than a thousand crew members at once. As a result of this, when designing them a lot of consideration is put into providing enough space that will make them function properly.
A fixed platform is another form of an accommodation ship and it is also built to withstand tough weather conditions. Fixed platforms are equipped with dedicated gear and every other facilities that will make them practical cities on the sea. In addition, they are also equipped with storage facilities especially if the platform is an oil rig. There is also provision for recreational facilities for crew members who will want to unwind after work. This can make a major difference to fuel efficiency and your overall driving experience. One of the major uses of cargo carriers is to store camping gear and outdoor equipment. This means that the travelling distance for a vehicle with a cargo box tends to be further than a vehicle without one. Over a long distance the difference between an aerodynamic roof box and one that is not can add significantly to the amount of fuel used. This is not only costly but obviously not great for the environment either. Not only this but a cargo box which is not aerodynamic can make the driving experience highly unpleasant. A chunky roof box will catch the wind and can make driving difficult.
You also want to check the durability of the car top carrier. You will be storing valuable items in it and you want to make sure that they are well protected. Not only this but your roof box will occasionally take a battering. If you are planning on using your cargo carrier to visit the great outdoors then at some point you are likely to make contact with the odd branch or two. You want to make sure that your roof box can stand up to the impact. Also you don't want to have to replace your roof box because it is starting to crack. There are safety issues involved with having insecure items within a damaged box so this is something that you want to pay close attention to.

Ways A Rocky Mountain Vacation Can Save You Money And Time

In order to get the most out of your vacation, it takes great timing and careful planning. Some people take vacations to relax, to kick back and enjoy not having any pressures but others see vacation time as time to take advantage of as many things as possible since they know there are only a few days to get in as much as they can. One vacation where you'll definitely want to pack in as much as possible is a Rocky Mountain vacation where you'll want to snowboard, ski, sight see, shop and dine at some truly fantastic restaurants.
So you can have as much fun at your vacation in the Rockies, you'll want to take advantage of these tips to save money and time:
1. Since you'll be flying in, making sure there's a great shuttle service available from the airport to your hotel is important. This saves you money on renting a car and having to deal with the hassles of traffic since the shuttles are already running, taking advantage of a great shuttle service to and from the airport will save a lot of headache and hassle as well as time and money and starts off your vacation in the Rockies right.
2. Shuttles and car services also enable you to build a perfectly timed schedule so you can take advantage of skiing or snowboarding in the morning when the snow is at its best then go to shopping excursions in the afternoon.

Travel Document Holder - Choose the Best Holder for Your Needs

You should definitely go for a travel document holder, if you want a practical accessory when traveling. With the right kind of holder, you will never lose your travel documents. They will always be at hand no matter in how much hassle you are and how many bags you carry. You just need to get the most functional accessory matching your personal preferences and requirements.
The design of the travel document holder is an essential factor to consider. Leisure travelers and students can readily opt for the thin organizers made from artificial fabric. These have a number of slots with zips and a couple of open ones as well. There is a clear slot at the front for an ID card. These organizers come in different colors. They are easy to use because they have a strap that is supposed to go over your neck.
Business travelers, on the other hand, should look for a classic and stylish travel document holder with a wallet design. These models also have a number of slots including one for a passport and a few for credit cards. They also have a compartment for banknotes. All of these slots and compartments are not visible as the holder folds like a wallet. If you want extra security, you can readily opt for a model with a clasp.

The Trucker's Hat - Fashion on the Road

Remember a few years ago when couriers and truckers became the best new influence on the fashion industry? Not for their super-sized drink cups and moustaches, but for their choice of headwear.
Trucker-style hats were suddenly all the rage and everyone from Ashton Kutcher to Lindsay Lohan were wearing them everywhere. But you can bet that it all began with an unknown owner driver. Jobs that took them up and down the roads in the bright desert sunshine necessitated the use of sunglasses and hats to help keep the glare out of their eyes while driving. Somehow, someone decided these guys looked pretty cool and, voila, a fashion was born! But the question must be asked then, what is the best hat to wear while working on those owner driver jobs?
Cowboy hats - From the classic black Stetsons to the cheaper straw varieties, you can pick up one of these at any gas station across the country while on owner driver jobs. These hats are stylish and cool. The brim usually extends four inches all the way around the crown and provides you with shade from every angle. The only problem with wearing a cowboy hat while driving, is that you might need to lower the head rest on your seat so that the back of the hat brim doesn't bump against it and prevent you from sitting all the way back.

Tips for All Weather Conditions

Though some places in the States, like Arizona or New Mexico, get quite hot, many places never seem to get warm at all, and others never seem to get a blue sky.
