Jorge Lorenzo has won French MotoGP at Le Mans. The Spaniard was joined on the podium by Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) and Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda Team), who battled hard for the second position. Rossi passed Stoner at the chicane on the very last lap to claim his best ever finish as a Ducati rider.&lt;br /&gt;

Both Monster Yamaha tech 3 riders Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow fell in separate incidents, but both remounted to finish seventh and eighth. Their mistakes allowed Stoner's teammate Dani Pedrosa into fourth, ahead of rookie Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP) and Ducati's Nicky Hayden.&lt;br /&gt;

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) has taken his first pole position of the season ahead of his teammate Casey Stoner at French MotoGP at Le Mans. Andrea Dovizioso (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) achieved his best grid position of the season so far in third.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing) heads the second row in fourth after being held up in traffic on his final hot lap, followed by Dovizioso’s teammate Cal Crutchlow and Lorenzo’s teammate Ben Spies.&lt;br /&gt;

The Repsol Honda rider, who vehemently denied retirement rumours at the previous Estoril round, made the announcement during the pre-event press conference for French Grand Prix at Le Mans.&lt;br /&gt;

Stoner said:&lt;blockquote&gt;“After a long time thinking, a lot of time talking with my family and my wife, this has been coming for a couple of years now but at the end of this 2012 season I will be not racing in the 2013 Championship. I will be finishing my career at the end of this season in MotoGP, and go forward in different things in my life.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After so many years of doing this sport which I love, and which myself and my family made so many sacrifices for, after so many years of trying to get to where we have gotten to at this point, this sport has changed a lot and it has changed to the point where I am not enjoying it. I don't have the passion for it and so at this time it's better if I retire now.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
There are a lot of things that have disappointed me, and also a lot of things I have loved about this sport, but unfortunately the balance has gone in the wrong direction. And so, basically, we won't be continuing any more. It would be nice if I could say I would stay one more year, but then where does it stop? So we decided to finish everything as we are now.”&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Stoner, who won the 2007 MotoGP with Ducati and the 2011 MotoGP with Honda, currently leads the 2012 standings by a single point ahead of Jorge Lorenzo. Vermeulen, 29, has seven MotoGP podiums to his credit and a best finish of sixth in the world championship (2007). The Australian took his and the GSV-R's only MotoGP win in the wet at Le Mans in 2007. Vermeulen then returned to World Superbikes with Kawasaki for 2010, but has spent much of the last two years sidelined by injury and was without a ride for 2012. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Edwards, who broke his left collarbone during a crash in Estoril qualifying last weekend, plans to return to MotoGP action at the Catalunya round.&lt;br /&gt;

Although he also suggested that the substitution would only be temporary, in order to get a second opinion on the teams CRT Aprilia machine. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ellison has been struggling with massive chatter and is one of only two riders yet to score a point. Byrne currently rides Kawasaki machinery for Paul Bird's PBM British Superbike team, and took his first win of the 2012 BSB season at Oulton Park on Monday. He previously raced in MotoGP on the Aprilia "Cube" in 2004, and with Proton-KR Honda the following season, but never completed a full season due to injuries or team issues. His best ever finish was 10th place.&lt;br /&gt;

That way we can have another view of what the bike is like, to see if we do have a severe chatter problem, but, you known, Casey Stoner has severe chatter problems and still wins the race, so we will have a look... &lt;br /&gt;

It marked the fourth time Edwards has fractured his left collarbone.&lt;br /&gt;

Dr. Javier Mir, who had previously treated Edwards for the injuries he sustained during a free practice session at the Catalunya Grand Prix last season, again performed the surgery, which lasted approximately two hours. A titanium plate with ten screws was inserted to help the injury heal.&lt;br /&gt;

The American was knocked off his bike in the latter part of qualifying practice, after Randy de Puniet lost the front of his Power Electronics Aprilia machine, which slid along the track and hit Edwards’ Suter BMW bike. Edwards fell heavily on his shoulder, and injuring his collarbone. While De Puniet is believed to have escaped injury.&lt;br /&gt;

He is now on his way to Barcelona to undergo surgery to fix the collarbone by Dr Mir, the same surgeon who operated on him after he broke his collarbone in a serious crash in Barcelona in 2011. The Australian made a great start from fifth on the grid to take the lead by the end of lap two, but was not able to pull away though and Lorenzo closed in as both riders struggled with tyre wear.&lt;br /&gt;

As both riders struggled with tyre wear, Stoner's team-mate Dani Pedrosa and Cal Crutchlow (Monster Tech 3 Yamaha) were slowly catching up with the race leaders Stoner and Lorenzo and finish in 3rd dan 4th. &lt;br /&gt;

But the Australian began to suffer from severe arm pump, and finally after four laps to go, Lorenzo passed Stoner followed by stoner's team-mate Dani Pedrosa. &lt;br /&gt;

After excellent duel between Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mates Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso, Crutchlow finish in fourth, in front of his team-mate. Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) was the highest placing Desmosedici, beating Álvaro Bautista (San Carlo Honda Gresini) to sixth, while 2011 Moto2 World Champion Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda) finished in eighth place.&lt;br /&gt;

Continuing their partnership from Moto2 into MotoGP, 25 year old Pirro will ride the CRT bike with a FTR chassis and a Honda CBR1000R engine. The Italian is joining Álvaro Bautista, who will ride a Honda RC213V.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Team Gresini will also expand their line-up to cover all three of the MotoGP classes, with a Moto3 entry joining the existing MotoGP and Moto2.&lt;br /&gt;

Two years after making its category debut with a single Ducati for Spaniard Hector Barbera, the Aspar Team has joined the list of teams to compete the 2012 season with CRT (Claiming Rules Team) bikes.&lt;br /&gt;

De Puniet had the opportunity to complete two days of testing with the Aspar Team, with the bike based loosely on the Aprilia RSV-4 superbike. Though the team does not confirm its chassis for 2012, they has decided to rely on Noale house as a supplier of engines. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
RDP commented: &lt;blockquote&gt;"I am very happy to return to the Aspar Team, having already raced with them in 2005 during my 250cc career. I have very fond memories of that time and now we are taking on a new challenge together in the shape of CRT. I know that this is a very competitive team and they will be fighting to have the best material available. We have already tested and gathered a lot of good feedback. CRT is the future of MotoGP and even though we have a lot of work ahead of us it will be enjoyable.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The objective for next season will be to adapt as soon as possible to this new prototype and gradually close the gap to the factory bikes. Testing at Jerez was very productive, we had good weather and managed to gather a lot of good data. The lap times were interesting even though we are obviously a long way off the motorcycle we will start the season with so I am very pleased with how everything is coming together."&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
While Alex Espagaro said: &lt;blockquote&gt;"First of all I am very excited to join the Aspar Team and especially to be returning to MotoGP, which is a huge source of motivation for me. In 2010 I had a pretty positive season and I would have liked to continue for another year. I think that with my height and weight I should be more suited to the category and I am sure we'll have a good year and get some great results for the Aspar Team.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
CRT is a totally new concept and we will have a lot of work to do at the start but I have joined the Aspar Team because they comes with certain guarantees and I know they won't take this challenge lightly. They are very professional and I am sure they will develop a great motorcycle. I am delighted to be involved with this new project." &lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Meanwhile team manager Jorge 'Aspar' Martinez said: &lt;blockquote&gt;"We are really happy because we find ourselves with a brand new challenge ahead of us and we have full faith that CRT is the future of MotoGP, which is why we are amongst the first to join this initiative. As a team we continue to grow and after having a single rider for our first two seasons in MotoGP we will now have two in Randy de Puniet and Aleix Espargaró.&lt;br /&gt;

I am pleased to welcome Randy back to the team; he was already with us back in 2005 and we have good memories. Aleix was also with us in 2009 although it was only for two races. We are sure that this will be a successful project with the riders we have but also with the engine supplier, which will be Aprilia.&lt;br /&gt;

We always wanted to stick with them for this project because of the fabulous relationship we have with them and their pedigree in the smaller classes. Hayden eventually being diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of the scaphoid and radial styloid.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
During the operation, which was carried out at the Fremont Sports Therapy and Surgery Centre in Fremont, California, USA, Dr. Arthur Ting placed a small screw in Hayden’s fractured scaphoid. The radial styloid, which is also fractured, was not treated.&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Shortly after the operation, hayden said:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;blockquote&gt;"Everything went pretty smoothly. The scaphoid is a slow-healing bone, so you don’t want to wait, only to find out in January that it’s not healing correctly. I’m happy to get it fixed right so that I’ll be ready to go when I need to be."&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
After wearing a brace and using a bone stimulator for four weeks, Hayden will have his wrist X-rayed again to assess its status. The new FTR MGP12 will be equipped with a Honda CBR1000RR engine and will begin testing soon with a rider soon to be announced. &lt;br /&gt;

Gresini Team recently confirmed Alvaro Bautista would ride its Honda RC213V in place of the late Marco Simoncelli for 2012.&lt;br /&gt;
