A K Rajan Committee for NEET: Invites citizens to present/submit their views!

The NEET Committee Headed by the former Justice A. K. Rajan has announced that the citizens can also send their opinions/suggestion regarding the NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test for admission to medical graduate courses).

A special high-level committee of 9 members headed by the former Justice A. K. Rajan was formed to conduct a detailed review/analysis regarding what extent the NEET system has affected the students and its impact on them and in case the students have been facing excessive hardships, the new procedure/system to alleviate these problems to be devised.

This high-level committee has now requested the public to send their opinions/suggestions before 23rd June either by post or by email to neetimpact2021@gmail.com.

With 1 more month to finalise and submit its recommendations, this high-level committee has now sought public opinion!

The marks would be calculated for class 12 students in TN in this manner!!

Both state board class 12 board examinations and CBSE class 12 board examinations in TN have been cancelled is well known to us.

Soon, CBSE would be releasing class12 marks assessment guidelines by taking into account the annual exam performances in class 10 and class11. It is now brought out that TN would also be coming out with a similar line of evaluation for the class 12 students belonging to the state board.

It must not be forgotten that after cancelling the class12 board exams in TN the school education department had constituted a committee to come out with a formula for assigning marks for the students. It was later mentioned by a senior officer from the school education department that the authorities have planned on allocating marks based on the student’s performance in the quarterly and half yearly exams.

It has been found out that most government as well as government aided schools in TN were unable to conduct any exam including revision tests. Truth is that these schools have been reopened for about two and half months from January 2021.

Point is that the earlier plan to calculate class 12 marks based on the performance in quarterly and half yearly exams was called off. There were many suggestions from the members of the panel plus several academicians giving more weightage to class11 annual examination marks.

This was due to the fact that the students from both Science as well as Commerce groups would have appeared in all subjects of their respective streams. Suggestions were made to consider the marks scored by the students in SSLC plus the marks scored in the class 12 practical exams (Science stream) that were conducted. Information is that for Commerce and Vocational groups internal marks in class12 would be calculated.

The authorities were in the process of finalising the weightage to be given to class11 annual exams, SSLC, practical and internals etc. This was also according to the official. It must be noted that on Monday itself, the expert committee that was constituted by CBSE to calculate marks for the class 12 students had submitted its suggestion to the Union government.

Presently, admission to the 11th Standard classes is in progress in 27 districts in the State of Tamil Nadu where the impact / extent of the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic has been under control over the last few weeks!

Tamil Nadu State School Education Minister Anbil Magesh visited the Chennai Ashok Nagar Government High School and monitored the admission activities (for the 11th Standard).

Subsequently, the State School Education Minister had a session with the press reporters.

He shared: “The textbooks for the students would be distributed within a week. It is not possible in the prevailing situation to decide on the schools reopening! As such, online classes are the only resources!”

SRM University: Admissions for Trichy Branch commences!

Students interested in –pursuing studies after school in the current academic year may apply to the Trichy Branch of SRM University.

Following the establishment of branches in Chennai Metro City Vadapalani and Royapuram of the SRM Science and Technology University headquartered at Chennai Kattankulathur, another branch has been set up with all the required infrastructure at Trichy Irungalur.

As such, students who had pursued higher studies in other states can now study in this new Trichy Branch of SRM University!

In the new Trichy Branch of SRM University, graduate courses are offered in Engineering, Technology, Arts, Science, Medical courses, Auxiliary medical courses, Physiotherapy (PPD), Occupational Therapy (POD), and Hotel Management.

Further, admissions to B. Tech. Courses are offered through SRM Entrance Tests in 2 Phases. This Entrance Examination is conducted ONLINE as well as in some foreign countries.

With the 1st Phase of the Entrance Examinations having just completed, the 2nd Phase Entrance Examinations are scheduled to be conducted on 29th & 30th July.

Interested students may apply online before 20th June.

It has also been announced on behalf of the SRM University that scholarships are to be granted for the students based on merit/skill.
