It's All Random

It's Been a While...

2017-02-05T13:19:00.004-05:00

Wow! Its been years since my last update! I decided I needed to get back to this blogging thing,so there's no time like the present to start! I'm going to try to update weekly, but won't guarantee anything. Since my last update I have become a thirty-something instead of a twenty-something, so I guess it's time to join that group :). I also became a homeowner in the summer of 2015. No more apartment living for me and I am absolutely loving it. That also means I have become more obsessed with home decor and I will be posting about certain ideas I have or things I have done. I also welcome all of your input! Needless to say I have become obsessed with Pinterest over these last couple years. Stay tuned for my next post, which I promise will happen much sooner than last time. Also if you are still with me, please comment so I know someone is reading. Happy SuperBowl Sunday! Go Patriots!!

Im Back!!!!!

2014-03-17T19:53:00.001-04:00

Wow it has been almost a year since I've updated! I seriously cant believe it has been that long. I am back now though :) Let's see, since I last updated I have done some traveling to Nashville to see one of my childhood BFF's, gone to see Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z in concert last summer and it was AMAZING, went to see Dane Cook with my BFF and it was hilarious, and finally suffered through one of the WORST WINTERS EVER here in Michigan. Seriously its March 17 and the temp today was a whopping 32 degrees. BRRR, I will be so glad to see temps above freezing and green grass. Starting to wonder if that is ever going to happen. Oh and my beloved Detroit Tigers begin their season exactly 2 weeks from today. I think they may be playing in the snow :(. So if I actaully have any people that still follow this blog of mine, I promise to update more frequently. I think I will start featuring some of the amazing recipes and other things I find on Pinterest. That site is absolutely fantastic! In the mean time though, be sure to check out the video below. Its actually from Halloween, but seriously everytime I watch it I cry from laughing so much. Hope you all enjoy it too! Thanks for sticking with me!!!

My Current Obsession!!!

2013-03-16T21:49:00.000-04:00

If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you may have noticed there haven't been many updates lately. Sorry about that. I seem to be going through a "not in the mood" phase lately. Don't worry though, I'm sure that will change. So the highlight of this past week for me has been "Timberweek" on Jimmy Fallon. What is "Timberweek" you ask? Why it is an entire week of Justin Timberlake on Jimmy Fallon. Which leads me to the title of this blog entry, my current obsession is the one and only Justin Timberlake. An even bigger obsession, JT and Jimmy Fallon together. Seriously, the two are AMAZING together. I laugh hysterically every time they do a skit with each other. JT also hosted SNL last week and while it wasn't as good as some of the other times he has hosted, it was still pretty awesome. If you are wondering why JT is my current obsession it is because the man can basically do anything and do it great. The guy can sing, dance, act, do comedy, and seems like a pretty great person all around. Oh and he is frickin hot too! Luckily my BFF is also currently obsessed with him and asked if I would like to go see him in concert this summer....my answer: HELL YES!! So we got ourselves a date with JT (and Jay-Z) this summer. Bring on August!!

Below I have posted some of my favorite skits from Timberweek: Watch them all, I promise you won't be disappointed!

The first two clips are from a skit that Jimmy Fallon apparently does fairly often, but this was my first time seeing it. It is in two parts, if you want to skip past the interview with Steve Carrell at the beginning you can, but it helps explain what you are watching (the skit starts at about the 1:50 mark).

Be sure to watch JTs face when they start talking about "the Lance Bass"

Part 2

The final video is my favorite thing that JT and Jimmy do when they are together, the "History of Rap" Part 4

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!

Weekly Song Wednesday- Some Nights

2013-02-20T10:00:00.000-05:00

So let me start off with a little explanation here. Usually for "Weekly Song Wednesday" I like to feature a song that is new or not very mainstream. However this week I am breaking the rules...sort of. The song this week is "Some Nights" by Fun. Yes it is overplayed and has been out for months, but I still love it. The version I am featuring this week isn't a version I've heard before either. Its by Tyler Ward (whom I have featured multiple times...love him!!) and Alex G. A nice slow, acoustic version of the song, completely different from the original. I absolutely love it! Give it a listen and let me know what you think!!!

YouTube Tuesday!!

2013-02-19T10:00:00.000-05:00

I know many of you have probably seen the video I am featuring this week, but it is still pretty hilarious. I first saw it on Facebook a week or two ago, but have been really slacking in my updates lately so I'm just now getting around to sharing it. You can't not laugh while watching it, whether it is at the baby or her big sisters adorable laugh. Its all kinds of cuteness!!

YouTube Tuesday- Big Bang Flash Mob

2013-01-29T08:57:00.000-05:00

I mentioned in my post from the weekend that I will continue to do YouTube Tuesday posts if I found videos I just had to share. Well readers, I found one! I am a huge fan of Big Bang Theory so when I saw Jim Parsons on Jay Leno talking about a flash mob that the cast and crew surprised the directors with, I just had to find it on YouTube. Oh let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Not only do I love Big Bang Theory, but I also love flash mobs. So when you combine the two, it is just a recipe for awesomeness. Check it out below. If you are a fan, I guarantee you will love it!!!

This Shall Be Called A Variety Post :)

2013-01-26T14:21:00.003-05:00

Hey all! I have been informed by one of my loyal readers that I haven't updated in a while so I figured it was time for another posting. I don't have anything specific to type about, so this shall be a variety post :). After all my blog is called "Its All Random" so I guess its fitting. First of all let me notify you all of how my money saving challenge is going that I blogged about in my last post. We are beginning the 5th week of the month tomorrow, so I am up to date with my weekly challenges so far. I've only had to deposit a total of $10 to date, but its a start right. I know with the amounts getting higher it will be more of a challenge, but my debt is getting lower so I think I will be able to make it happen! I still think I am going to skip around weeks and get the biggest amounts deposited ASAP so I can just worry about the smaller amounts. Have any of you tried this challenge? How are you doing with it??

Next I was looking for suggestions or ideas of what to blog about. When I first started this blog, I had designated days for different topics ( My 5 Monday, YouTube Tuesday, Weekly Song Wednesday, etc). Clearly I have fallen off that regimen, but I am looking for new things to feature. I still will be featuring my favorite YouTube videos and songs I am loving, but not on a weekly basis. I am thinking about starting a "Flashback Friday" where I feature things that I loved in the past and now miss. You should all be aware of my love of the 90's since I featured a three part series on my favorite things from back then. Those postings also happen to be the most read posts from my blog, so clearly I am not the only one with a profound love for that decade. So with all that being said I think I am going to start "Flashback Fridays". Hopefully this Friday will be the beginning of that and I am crossing my fingers that it is a success!

Finally, I came across this article which I found to be extremely amusing. I seriously was reading it at 11:30 last night and actually laughing out loud. It is that awesome. Therefore I am going to share it with all of you. For my fellow 90's children you will get a kick out of this for sure. It is titled "22 Looks Justin Timberlake Needs To Bring Back Right Now" and it is complete with pictures which make it that much better. Enjoy!!!

Please, please, please leave me some comment love so that I know people are actually still reading my blog. It doesn't even have to be anything of substance if you don't want it to be. I will take anything!!!

Money Saving Idea!!!

2013-01-05T20:42:00.003-05:00

One of my resolutions this year is to save more money. This past Christmas, I was able to get 95% of my shopping done without using credit cards. Kohls had to suck me in by giving me 30% off if I used my Kohls charge, so that is the only time I used a credit card this holiday season. Pretty good for me!! Also, I will have two bills paid off within the next two months. Yay me!! That all being said I found this great way to save money the entire year on Facebook.

This seems pretty smart to me. Start off easy and then build your way up each week. If I do it the entire year, I will have almost $1400 saved up. I think I may tweak it tho and pick a random amount that week and then cross that amount off the list. For example, next week I may throw in $20 instead of $2 and then just cross week 20 off the list. This way I can do what I can afford and still end up with the same amount at the end of the year. I most likely will be doing the larger amounts after I get my taxes back and not saving the largest amounts for the same time I am spending money on Christmas. The Nov/Dec weeks actually may be the lower amount weeks! Hopefully I can make this work!

What are some of your money saving tips?? I am always up for new suggestions!

I'm Still Alive!!!!

2013-01-04T23:01:00.001-05:00

Wow it has been way too long since I have updated this blog of mine! Rest assured though, with the holidays over and winter here, I will be updating more frequently. I plan on having a real post this weekend. Please be sure to check it out if any of you are actually still following my posts!!

Celebstir.com....newest find!!

2012-09-25T19:47:00.000-04:00

I was recently informed of a new website called Celebstir.com, so you know I just had to check it out. Turns out it is a new social networking site that allows you to connect with various celebrities, including singers, reality stars and athletes.

I myself created a profile because even though I may not be a celeb, I am a fan :). After creating a profile I decided to browse the site and see which celebs had profiles. Searcing for people is pretty simple. You can either search by specific name or category or do like I did and just look at the most popular search results. Farrah, Maci, and Catelynn from Teen Mom were all at the top of the list of the most popular searches. I enjoyed the show Teen Mom and Maci and Catelynn and Tyler were my faves so its nice to be able to see what they are up to now that the show is over. There are also many comedians and indie singers on Celebstir that you can interact with. Oh and you also could have the opportunity to have a webcam chat with your favorite celeb, which sounds like a pretty cool experience.

As I mentioned earlier, I myself am just a fan, but this site seems to be a great network for people who are singers, comedians, or performers. Seems to be a great way to get your name out there for people to connect with and also upload videos of your performances. Many celebs have been discovered through various internet sites, so you never know, you could be next!!! Be sure to check out Celebstir.com and let me know if you join so I can become a follower of yours :).

YouTube Tuesday- Remembering 9/11

2012-09-11T08:00:00.000-04:00

Well this week I made sure to do a "YouTube Tuesday" since today is 9/11. I found a few really good tributes on YouTube. Some aren't too sad, others are extremely sad, but this is a sad day in history so make sure you have the tissues close!

The first video is a State Farm commercial that aired last year on the 10th anniversary during the 9/11 documentary. Crazy thing is that I bet the kids in the commerical were either very small babies or not even born yet when 9/11/01 happened. Very nice commerical though. Seriously love it!

The second video is one I just came across today. Very moving song which was written by the guy singing as a tribute to 9/11. Very nicely done.

The final video is my FAVORITE patriotic song with video clips from 9/11 and audio of President Bush

NEVER FORGET 9-11-01!!!!!!!!

YouTube Tuesday!! "Call Me Maybe"/"Payphone"

2012-08-28T06:06:00.001-04:00

I know its been a long time, but whenever I logged onto YouTube today, this video was at the top of the list and I just HAD to share it! So guess what YouTube Tuesday is back!!! Like I said, this video was the very first thing I saw when I logged on and it is pretty darn great. Its a mashup of the uber popular songs "Call Me Maybe" and "Payphone" performed by three amazing muscians/singers. It has over 3 million views so far so I'm apparently really late to the game, but check it out, I'm sure you will love it! Let me know what you think in the comments!!

"My 5 Monday" Most Memorable TV News Events

2012-08-13T07:39:00.001-04:00

Wow it has been almost 2 months since I have updated. That's just crazy!! I am back now though with a brand new "My 5 Monday". This week I will be counting down the TV news events that I remember most clearly. Now let me inform you all that I am 27 so I do not remember many important events such as the JFK or MLK assassination, landing on the moon, or anything that happened before 1995 basically since I was not born or very young still. With that being said, here are My 5:

Most Memorable TV News Events

5. President Obama Inaguration

Ok so let's be honest here, whether you love him or hate him, watching Obama being sworn in as President was definetly a historical moment. Go back 40 or 50 years and nobody ever thought they would see a black man become President of the United States. Clearly this was history in the making and nobody can say otherwise.

4. Princess Diana's Car Accident

I honestly remember coming home from the grocery store on a Saturday night when I was 13 and seeing the news about Princess Diana whenever I turned on the TV. Pretty sure this is the first major news event I can remember seeing on TV and I still remember exactly where I was when I found out.

3. Death (and funeral) of Michael Jackson

I remember being at Kohls and receiving a text message from CNN informing me that Michael Jackson had died. I couldn't believe it. As much controvesry that followed him, he without a doubt was one of the greatest artists of all time. I didn't really care for him too much before he died because of all the controversy, but I still love his music. Oh and seeing his daughter speak at his funeral was just heart breaking!

2. Bin Laden Dead

Once again I found out about this news event via text. As soon as I received it I remember turning the TV on to watch the news unfold live. I clearly remember it being a Sunday night and watching the coverage until about 1 in the morning. I knew I would be tired for work the next morning, but I just couldn't stop watching.

1. September 11, 2001

Well this is clearly the most memorable event to me and most likely everyone that is old enough to remember. I remember watching as the buildings collapsed in my trig class my senior year. Being I was only 17, I still didn't fully understand what was happening. As the day went on though I became much more aware how major this was. I am certain I will never forget 9/11/01. I'm sure the rest of the country won't either.

What are some memorable TV news events for you??

Welcome New Followers!

2012-06-19T20:14:00.000-04:00

Well I just logged into my blog for the first time in a couple days and I seem to have gained about 13 or so followers in the last few days! So thanks to everyone who started following me, I hope you enjoy what you read :). Oh and I am just curious how I suddenly got such a splurge of followers, so if you joined recently could you just let me know in a comment below how you found my lovely blog :). Thanks so much!!!

Declutter You T-Shirt Drawer!!

2012-06-03T13:19:00.001-04:00

I don't know about all of you, but I have a dresser drawer for tank tops and t-shirts and it just looks way too cluttered. I have a lot of cami style tanks to wear under other shirts and of course a few lazy day t-shirts that are all crammed together in one drawer. I found it to be such a pain to find the right color cami I was looking for that eventually I just started leaving the ones I wore the most out. Well after discovering this simple tip on Pinterest, I no longer have that problem. I pinned a pin from THIS BLOG and decided to use her tip for my own drawer. Let me just say it looks sooo much better! She stores the shirts side by side instead of on top of each other so you can easily see every shirt without having to take out 15 others. Genius and simple!!!

Before

After

Look! I even have some empty space!!!

Traffic Generating Search Words

2012-05-30T21:20:00.000-04:00

Have any of you fellow bloggers ever checked the stats of your blog to see what keywords are generating traffic?? If you haven't you should, it is both interesting and entertaining. I just checked mine for the week and 3 of the top searches are "Justin Verlander shirtless", "Rick Porcello Shirtless", and " Josh Harris shirtless". I should let you know in advance I don't have any pics of these guys without shirts. Sorry for your disappointment. I do have pics of them clothed, but no ab shots here. However, for you people looking for shots of Dane Cook, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds shirtless, you are in luck. You may find those pics by clicking HERE!!!!. For some added fun, I will add some more pics of gorgeous shirtless guys now.

William Levy

Adam Levine

Chris Powell

Firefighters (not sure where these guys work, or if they are even fireman, but they sure look good!)

YouTube Tuesday- Harvard Baseball Team

2012-05-29T10:51:00.001-04:00

I remember seeing this video on a few of my friends Facebook pages, but I never actually watched the entire thing until last night. It is seriously ridiculous, but adorable and amusing at the same time. This is the Harvard baseball team "performing" "Call Me Maybe". How can I not like something that features a group of good-looking HARVARD baseball players having fun. Oh and be sure to take note of the guy on the left side in the back sleeping the entire time. Love it! Apparently almost 11 million other people loved it too because that's how many views it currently has on YouTube. Check it out and let me know what you think!!

Pinterest Projects!!

2012-05-27T20:50:00.001-04:00

I have expressed my love for pinterest before, so you all know how obsessed I am with it. I just love finding cute hairstyles, adorable pics, amazing recipes, and especially quick and easy crafts! Recently I found one for a patriotic wreath so I just had to make it to hang on my door for the summer. It turned out so well that I am going to share it with you all. It required a total of three supplies and took about 10 mins to make (3 of which were spent waiting for the glue gun to heat up). So here it is, my simple cute patriotic wreath!

I purchased all of the supplies at Joann's for a great price. Foam wreath cost 2.49 after a 50% off coupon, 9 ft garland (I used 2 to make the wreath) cost me 1.99 each after the 60% off sale, glue gun was only $1.80 after a 40% off coupon and the glue sticks were 2.49.

Next all I did was glue the end of the garland to the wreath and wrap around. At the end of the garland I glued that end down and repeated this process with the second string. Five minutes later, I had my finished project :)

Hanging on my apartment door :). Gonna head to Kohl's tomorrow to see if I can find a cute patriotic doormat to put underneath it :).

I also found this cute idea on Pinterest where you organize little make up and hair items by putting them all in jars and labeling. Simple right? So I picked myself up some cute, cheap glass jars at Home Goods and was able to find a decal chalkboard on clearance at Joann's for $4 or $5.

Next I just cut rectangles out of the chalkboard decal with scrapbooking scissors and applied to the glass jars.

Easy peasy :)

Finally, I saw a great idea that someone did on Pinterest by taking wallpaper and applying it to the back of a bookshelf to make the things on it stand out more. Now I didn't use wallpaper, but I was able to find some cute shelf paper at Joann's once again, on clearance for only 3.97! So I just removed the shelves and applied the paper to the back.

The best part is this bookshelf actually started out as a 5 shelf bookcase, but broke when I moved (it was just a cheap bookcase I picked up at Target for about $30). I didn't really want to throw the entire thing away so I found I was able to just use the top half of the shelf and turned it into a shelf for all my cookbooks and shot glasses that is now in the dining room. The funny thing is I used this shelf paper to decide what colors I was going to decorate my entire dining room in. Picked up the cute vases that are on top (now I just need some flowers to go in them) and a centerpiece dish for the dining room table at Home Goods and the candle holder and placemats at Ikea, and Voila! my dining room is complete!

American Idol Finale

2012-05-24T21:11:00.000-04:00

So last night was the finale of American Idol. I'd have to say I was really glad to see it come. For some reason I just wasn't as into Idol as I had been in the past seasons. Maybe I need to take a season or two off like I did with Dancing with the Stars so I can get my obsession for it back. Therefore, now that it is over, I don't feel the obligation to dedicate 3 hours of my week anymore. Now even though I was glad for the end, I was also very happy with the ending. There were a few people I liked this season, but Phillip Phillips had been one of my faves the entire time. The fact that he wore whatever he wanted to, sang however he wanted to, and basically didn't change his style or image regardless of what people told him to do made me like him even more. Oh and the fact that the poor guy had been pretty sick with kidney problems the entire season, makes him even more impressive. Now I had liked pretty much all of Phillip's performances, but I'd have to say last week when he did "Beggin" and "We've Got Tonight" is what made me want him to win. Then when he sang "Home" on Tuesday night I LOVED it. I loved it so much that I am even thinking of downloading it from iTunes and actually paying $1.29 for it :). Jessica's song I didn't care for at all so I was really pulling for Phillip just so I could hear him sing that song again. And after 120 minutes of a bunch of performances and filler, a majority of which I could have done without, we got the best 7 minutes of the show, which you can watch below.

Now I must say I absolutely LOVE when the contestants sing their coronation song and end up crying before they finish it. Seriously. That sounds bad, but it is oh so true. So you can imagine how happy I was when Phillip, the guy who all season acted like he didn't care about anything pretty much, couldn't even come close to finishing his song because he was crying too much. BEST MOMENT OF THE SHOW!!! Congrats to Phillip and I wish him a speedy, healthy recovery from his upcoming kidney surgery and sincerely hope that he actually has a successful career ahead of him. Guy deserves it after being such a trooper the last five months and performing every single week.

This week's song is "Payphone" by Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa. I have been hearing this song a lot on the radio lately and am LOVING it!! I then watched the live performance on "The Voice" (I am a couple weeks behind ;)) and absolutley loved that too. Adam Levine is just too darn hot. Be sure to watch the performance from The Voice below and after that be sure to check out one of my YouTube faves Tyler Ward performing it! Both are fantastic!!

Weekly Song Wednesday

2012-04-25T09:00:00.001-04:00

First off, let me just say I'm not sure if I like this new Blogger layout. Its really going to take me a while to get used to it I think! Anyhow, this week's song is by one of my favorite American Idol winners, Kris Allen. I had heard it online once before, but seeing him perform it on Idol last week was great. Such an amazing song with a great message!! This week's song pick is "Vision of Love" by Kris Allen. How can this song NOT make you feel good?!!? Oh and let me just say I am THRILLED it has an actual music video to go with it!! Hopefully it gets some airplay on the radio too. Enjoy!!!

Justin Timberlake + interior design?!?!

2012-04-18T11:09:00.000-04:00

Well we all know Justin Timberlake can sing, act and host SNL with the best of them, but now he is also apparently launching a line of home goods according to InStyle. JT has teamed up with an interior decorator to create a line of "wallet friendly" home goods. The home goods are available online only through homemint.com, which will officially launch in May. You can become a member of the HomeMint website for $10 a month which would allow you early access to products and discounts, but you dont have to become a member to shop the site :). If you would like to check it out click this link here: http://hmnt.co/WC2. Personally I can't wait to see what he comes up with! Especially since it is supposedly "wallet friendly"!!
