another little project

2014-07-21T11:32:00.000-05:00

You may have to sit down for this one...... Its profound.

I moved the antique table from the kitchen to the foyer and, as if that wasn't enough, I changed out the knobs.

another little house project

2014-07-10T22:34:00.003-05:00

Warning number one:
This isn't the most exciting house project you can think of

Warning number two:
There is no before picture because before it was a just blank wall (with the security system in the way)

The details:
Inside the master closet
On a blank wall
Shelves have been installed. (The really cheap kind)
Instant shoe storage
Took less than one afternoon
I have ten shelves
I'm in love
Clearly, the winter and summer shoes can no longer live together (not enough shelves)
I might have a shoe problem
and the closet was painted a bright white
now... I'm looking for a white fuzzy rug
The project-ing never ends

what I ate Wednesday

2014-07-01T11:00:00.000-05:00

Day started off extremely well with a big bowl of berries, walnut and greek yogurt but when a friend called for lunch, it very quickly went downhill. Lunch was fried orka with ranch and a bacon cheese burger at Burgersmith. (In my defense, I ate half the burger and no fries)

Have you heard of crispy fruit? I'm addicted. Its just real fruit freeze dried with nothing else at all. Its crunchy and 40 calories per bag. I eat at least one bag an afternoon.

Starbucks ice coffee. Its $4.33 at the grocery store. At first I thought it was too much for just ice coffee, but quickly realize I'm spending almost that much at Starbucks everytime I go. and having it in the fridge makes it easier.

Got around to a healthy dinner. Steaming a lot of veggies and rice on Sunday and eating through the week works for me and grilled teriyaki chicken thighs (grilled and ready. I'm a fan).

ULTA haul

2014-06-30T17:30:00.000-05:00

I love a good day in Ulta and here is photographic evidence that its possible to walk in and not spend an entire arm and leg and leave with half the store (like I usually do...).

And I'm pretty proud of myself for buying the nude palette from Maybelline for $9.99 (a review here) instead of the more famous nudes for $54. Where did this good sense some from?

And I bought the "they're real" mascara trial size for $10 instead of the regular size for $23.

I really wanted the "they're real" push up eyeliner but, its $24. I'm pretty confident I'll get my mitts on a sample size soon, in Burchbox or Ipsy.

Do I really need another covergirl outlast 24 hour lipstick? Obviously not. But it was on clearance for $4.28 and I wish I would have bought an additional one. I hear they are somewhat re-formulating it (explanation and video review here), but I'm happy to have the "old" one, especially at less than half price.

Even the foot cream was the Ulta store brand but not cheap at $9.00.

So I clearly like them a lot.

small home project accomplishmnets

2014-06-23T20:58:00.000-05:00

A couple of hours one afternoon and $100 later.... all light and electrical plates in downstairs changed. Certainly not the biggest project but a little accomplishment goes a long way.

Pinterest recipe

2014-06-22T20:52:00.001-05:00

Original recipe from Pinterest here. Although, you cant really call it a recipe.... just mix some chocolate protein powder into greek yogurt. You cant trick yourself into thinking its chocolate pudding, but..... it works in an emergency chocolate situation, which I seem to find myself in often.

Lately

2014-05-03T18:33:00.000-05:00

Started taking pictures to my hairdresser and saying.... make me look like this.

I figured my fancy new coffee pot deserves a fancy milk frother. I love it. Makes me want to get up earlier to leisurely enjoy coffee at home, which, lets just be honest, does not happen every morning......

One afternoon at work I decided walking 6 blocks (and back!) in heels for ice coffee was not ridiculous at all. I spent the rest of the afternoon in comfy socks nursing my hurting feet.

Confession Number One: I've seen the inside of a lot of dressing rooms lately. I think this one is Dillards.

I've got my eye on this rug and I'm pretty sure its coming home with me shortly. Never mind that I have nothing else in my house that is burnt orange. I just fell in love with this rug.

Confession Number two: I've been making sudden emergency chocolate yogurt trips.

Blooms exploding in my yard.

See Confession Number One: This time its three pair of jeans later at the Gap.

Directions posted everywhere.

See Confession Number Two. Not kidding about that frozen yogurt.

..... and I bought a new bed. Yes, pretty much, just like that.

Paula Deen Strawberry Cake (kind of)

2014-05-02T11:45:00.001-05:00

This is my favorite cake. Full recipe here

But I cheated a little on the icing, and doctored up a can of buttercream frosting instead of making my own. It was still delicious.

office accessories

2014-05-01T09:30:00.000-05:00

A little office bling...

A regular black tape dispenser from Walmart for $3.20 and a can of gold metallic spray paint for $3.98 and now my office accessories match.

I got the gold cup and card holder when I was too nervous to sit at home the night before the bar results came out and went to the Mall to do a little damage at Bombay Company. (I miss that store....)

My desk is a little more dressed up. (PS.... the stapler is next!)

overnight raspberry oatmeal

2014-04-29T08:30:00.000-05:00

Overnight Raspberry Oatmeal sounds delicious, right? The recipe is everywhere on Pinterest.

I didn't like it. I think the jelly makes it too sweet.

Now that its hot and muggy every morning, I might like something cold. I'm gonna play around with some other flavor combinations.
