What is #Ghosting and how to deal with people who ‘ghosted” you

One of the most popular term that came out these days is the term #Ghosting as the saga of actress and actor Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson unfolds. They are showbiz personalities in Philippines and their popularity also made this term famous. Even I am not aware of the term, being a genX, but I am sure many others experience this, not only in a romantic relationship but also in friendships. Maybe people don’t care much if this happens in a friendship as this can be common, however, in a romantic relationship, this should be a no-no. In an ideal world.

Ghosting is breaking off a relationship by stopping all communication and contact with the partner without any apparent warning or justification, as well as ignoring the partner’s attempts to reach out or communicate. The term originated in the mid-2000s (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosting_(relationships) )

Chances are you've been "ghosted" before. "Ghosting" is when someone you're dating ends the relationship by cutting off all communication, without any explanation. And we're not talking about not getting a text back after one awkward OKCupid date, but receiving the ultimate silent treatment after several dates, or when you're in a committed relationship, according to Maya Borgueta, Psy.D and Senior Coach at Lantern.

What’s my take on this? I think that no one should “ghost” anyone, but when they do this to you, confront them tough and hard even if it leads to a hurting goodbye. That is the only way to closure. Demand closure from the people you are in a relationship with and do not let them get away from it all, easily. You know, many people may find it easy to just let them go peacefully and not demanding any accountability from them. Personally, from me, that’s not healthy for anyone. But if that is how some people can cope better, feel free. So I think it goes back to our individual personalities and preferences. For me, I always demand accountability from people whom I have a relationship wit (romantic or not).

Hi – I think you are here because you want to know how to embed YouTube videos onto your Facebook account so that it can play seamlessly without going to YouTube site. Firstly, beginning in 2019, there is no way you can embed YouTube videos onto your Facebook account, so that it can be easily played. Live with that. I am not going to make you hope and think there is a way to do that. The answer is no. Not anymore. But, for a YouTube link to be posted onto your Facebook account, yes that is very easy. If you already know that, you can skip this tutorial, but if not, then continue on. Step 1 is to go to the YouTube link you intend to share, click the arrow button, share via Facebook (the Facebook icon will show), and if you have already logged onto the account, it will easily show the Facebook account, and click share and post the video. There is no step 2, ha-ha. Another way to share your YouTube video is to click the address in the http bar. Just click all of it, copy, and then create a post and paste the link. Sewing Project: Pillow Case

I know. This is just another pillowcase project. But it has clean seam. French seam. And i am proud of it. :p

First i cut 1 pc of 11 x 41 inches strip, and 1 pc of 26 x 41 inches cloth. In this case obviously, the blue strip in the photo is the 11 x 41. I placed the blue strip right side up, and the printed strip right side down together, rolled the printed strip upwards until the blue strip's bottom end shows. I clipped the blue strip's bottom end to the blue and the printed strip together and sew them all together. Be very careful in sewing them together and maintain the 1/4 inch distance from the cut-off part to avoid ripping later on. If possible, zigzag the the edges to be sure. And this is how it looked like:

I have something for the jetsetters (who love to DIY). I tell you, all the girls who doesn't love shoes - they are not girls :p

So here is my year-ender sewing project. I hope you like them! Very simple but useful. You may also use tulle. I used sack-cloth on this one so the dirty/soiled shoes won't ruin your clothes inside your luggage.

I will also try using other fabrics and let my daughter finger paint them.

DIY: Denim Wreath

Sewing Project: Multipurpose Scarf

Last Christmas or post Christmas, i bought my bestfriend this really nice, stretchy scarf at a high-end outdoor shop (the same shop that sells camping, running, biking and diving gears). Ok i have to admit it was pricey but it was the most functional scarf i have even seen in years.

Then a fews weeks ago, i got my hands on exactly the same fabric, at 1$ price! I was ambivalent whether or not to make a dress out of it. Today i decided to make a scarf for my bestfriend and probably wait for christmas before giving it to her! Haha.

Missing you Chels

This is by my most favorite photo of us together. This is our first day in School at Bridge International School and the very day we learned to say "Sain bain uu!".

Well, actually i do not have a second favorite photo. It is funny but we always end up realizing we do not have photos together because as you always put it, we always have so much things to talk about rather than letting our camera out from our bags. I would have to agree. When we were in Gobi dessert, we only had 2 photos together - and we were there for 2 weeks!!!

It is true we had more beautiful things to talk about rather than taking pictures of each other. But now, i wished i made time for photo ops.

I miss you. Some days are ok, some days are pretty bad. But i do not cry. Like you always told me, no crying, look at better reasons to smile about losing you such as the friendship as pure as ours. But i must admit that when in solitude i am reminded of our daily stories, of our daily dose of laughter, of good things - and it is weird because it always gives a heavy space in my chest.

I have tried to say this many times, but today, for the record, i would say that i am letting you go to enjoy wherever you are but you will always be in my heart forever. My daughter Fiya will always remind me of you. She has turned 2 years old already, so it must be 2 years since you've been gone.

I love you. You have been a huge blessing to me, in many ways. I treasure our friendship and i will tell my daughter about you. I am sure we have gained an angel in you.

Who's Turning 2?

Hi Fiya,

Today you are officially two years old. I am so glad beyond words. I always thank God for your life, you are a great blessing that has changed our lives.

At 2, you already know how to count from 1 to 10 but with difficulty to pronounce "seven". You can sing itsy bitsy spider and skiddamarink with full actions. You say "amen" and clip your palms together after our every prayer. You call me Mimi and only when you are sad and wants to be comforted by my hug. You previous call your daddy "eboy" but recently you seemed shy to say it. You love to look at yourself at the mirror. You love being at school and likes to play at the slide and the mini gym. You say "sowwwryyyy" when someone stops you from doing something that might hurt you such as climbing up to the dining table. You say "kheykyu" (thank you) when someone give you anything or when you give something to anyone. You say wow almost all the time. You did not recite the alphabet yet, but i have good reasons to believe already know it because when i recited "abcde" repeatedly you just smiled and when i was no longer looking at you, you shouted "fghijkl" which was continuation of what i just recited. You seemed to be a shy girl, un-showy, and doesn't very much enjoy the crowd. I am also amazed at your great sense of balance and caution. At your very young age you can stand at the edge of some furnitures confidently and without falling.

You do not like Dora shows. You are afraid of Dora's map and you always cry like someone tried to attack you. But you like Mother Goose Club very much. You also love music videos of Ariana Grande, Selena, Cimorelli (What makes you beautiful), Glee. But i select the songs and made sure they are happy songs. When you sleep, the song "Journey" of Lea Salonga keeps playing over and over until you wake up. You have memorized the song Journey at your age.

I love you anak. I am so proud of you. Continue to grow in the Lord. We will always be here for you.

DIY: Royal Blue Neck-piece

One day, i had a fashion emergency. I need to attend a wedding and i could not decide which dress to buy. That is the crisis you get when art and commerce does not meet at some point. I always go for functional dress, something i could wear daily to office which could also stand out during special occassions. When i could not see those qualities in an expensive (read: PhP 500-1,500) dress, i don't buy it. There will always be a fancy dress at ukay-ukay which i could wear only once. And voila, i got me a white dress for the wedding for PhP100!

It is a very nice flowy dress and hides my belly-fat (errmmm) pretty well. So in order for me not to be mistaken as the bride, i need to accessorize myself. That was my fashion emergency alert. I only got one day before the event so i dashed to the store and look for a royal blue earrings but i went home disappointed. Then i discovered the glass marbles and a royal blue cloth could make a pretty neckpiece perfect for the event.

I cut a 2-inch strip, sew it, put the marbles in one by one, tie it and placed another one and repeat. I got my desired neckpiece length and i tied it with a nice gross-grain / lacy blue ribbon at the back. I looks expensive. I loved the result.

Believe it or not, this outfit only costs me roughly 120 pesos. I wore it with a nice silver strappy wedge from Payless.

Sewing Project: Dollman Dress

There goes my first dress. It is a dollman dress, primarily because i suck at making sleeves. Need more practice.

I traced my favorite dollman dress and voila, i have a pattern. I sew the pieces together, iron them, sew them, iron them, sew them and thats it. I wore that dress to office the following day. :-)

I think i will make another one. Feeling inspired.

Sewing Project: Toddler Bib

My sewing machine failed me. But thanks to a kind hearted friend who let me borrow her machine. But sadly, it is an almost vintage machine, one of the earliest attempts of brother sewing machine produce an electric powered machine with simpler function. It is a sturdy machine with 14 stitch functions, and no foot control! It is hand controlled, how confusing at first. :-) Let me show you a photo:

Another is surprise is that, everything is written in Japanese! Very handy, yeah? Haha. So i had to figure out everything. First, guess, next is guess again! So far so good.

With all those trials and errors, i was able to complete all 8 pieces bib. Yey!

See that? Hehe. Im so proud. But let me tell you it is not very difficult to make a bib. First i looked for cotton fabrics at the store that would make a pretty bib. I was lucky that the fabric store is on sale. PhP 37 per meter was not bad. I just traced the pattern using my daughter's bib.

Bibs are the most common needs if you have a toddler. And since my daughter is in school now at 1 year and 10 months, making her a decent bib is on top of my project list. Bibs also doubles as burp cloths in case you forgot to bring one.

I can make as many bibs, as it also make great gifts to other babies and expectant mom. I can make hearts happy. :-)

By the way, i do not use tailor's chalk/marker. I use my dependable sharpie. Haha. So the explains the markings from tracing the pattern.

Blogging from Phone

As you can see i have updated my blog 3 times in less than 24 hours. I love it now because i can blog from my phone. Thank you to this blogger app i can readily post my DIY projects before the photos get buried in my phone haha. Plus i can update my blog even without my reliable desktop! How handy!

Repurposing: A nice blouse from the bargain

It has been my habit to mine at mountains of bargain RTW in the malls hoping to find extra large dress or a poloshirt with nice buttons that i could repurpose. Sometimes i get lucky. Well, i usually get lucky. Like this one.

This is a nice purple flowy blouse (sorry no idea of the kind of fabric, need to study more haha) at the price of 9 pesos or quarter of a dollar (USD $). Nobody would want ti get a blouse as nice as this because of its dated design. Pocahontas has moved on. Nothing like this anymore. So i bought 2 pcs of extra large size and when i got home i started sewing. I knew exactly what i would make if these loots.

I tried to make a shirt-dress for my daughter with matching miniskirt. I think she likes it so i let her have it again for someone's party.

I cut the blouse and imagined my daughter. Brave enough not to make pattern! But the result is good.

Just be brave! :-)

School Girl

How time flies. My daughter is now in school. :-) We basically wanted her to socialize more so we enrolled her to a nearby toddler school and we are happy with the results. Since we don't have relatives nearby, it very very seldom that we receive visitors at home. Our daughter is not so used to having strangers at home and she is usually upset when we have one. Her going to school really helped a lot.

She shown lots of improvement also in her language development and she sings a lot! How Filipino! :-)

Pagadian Metro Specialist Hospital

Saying goodbye to a Father is surreal. It is like a bad dream. Until now I could not believe that Papa is gone and it has been 8 days since he drew his last breath before me. My bereavement leave ends today and here I am, feeling like I just came from a bad hangover. I haven't really cried. As I remember, I felt relieved that Papa has finally rested and I remember kissing his hand and asking for the hospital bill. I remember singing Another Time, Another Place - a favorite of mine and Precy's (we sang that since college and it feels good to sing that song whenever I am upset). I thank God that Precy was there. I remember Precy and I woke up early and had our early morning run from Napolan to the Hospital - we bought meds and breakfast. I remember walking behind Papa's doctor and entered his hospital room. I remembered the doctor saying he will go anytime that day and that we should take note the time of his death. I remember him saying to the nurses to give Oxygen to aid Papa's breathing.

But I could not remember how long, how many minutes or seconds from then until Papa drew his last breath. I remembered calling the nurse to check on Papa's because I thought he was no longer breathing. I remember looking hopefully at stethoscope and the sphygmomanometer. I remember when the the ECG was wheeled into Papa's room. I remember the ECG machine printed a straight line. But I don't know how long i stood there just looking at Papa, peaceful in his slumber. I always have the urge to pinch my nose, knock my head or anything to wake me up.

It was not easy. Since I was little, I have this scenario in my mind - when my parents will go away. I thought about how should I deal with it and how should I react. I thank God that He prepared my heart for that moment. I thank God that he made things lighter for me. I can feel Papa everywhere I go. I think Papa knows I'm sad more that I'm showing.

I love you Pa. I will continue to make you proud. Thank you Lord, because you are a Father to the Fatherless. I stand in awe.

DIY Keyring Hangers

I've made a little something for our keys. The thing is, our gate has a dead bolt. Yeah, right. You need to use the key coming and going and it's crazy when you can't find the keys! So i thought of making this key hanger. I always try to make at least one project for every weekend. I got a lucky week one time when i thought about this.

First you have to get a piece of wood, some screws, glue and scrapbook sheet. Wrap it up, put some glue, screw-in and hang it pretty. Just like that.

There. But if you can get a piece of wood that is already shiny, much better. And of course you can use other sheets than scrapbooking sheets.

Ok I must admit, i made 2 key hangers. Haha. I find them pretty, thank you. :D

You can do what you like or choose better designs. Whatever makes your eyes dance!

Re-purposing Long-sleeved Shirts into Cutesy Blouse

One day, while arranging my daughter's locker, i found so many long-sleeved shirt that haven't even worn yet. You can imagine her wrestling with me if I let her have these shirts on a 35 degrees room temperature. No way. So I thought of cutting the sleeves. I know! It's supposed to be cute with sleeves, but she just can't live with it. So there, another re-purposing project one weekend.

What you'll need is a pair of scissors and you're done. But good for shirts like these because i did not have to sew them back together.

So, here is the finished product!

She now adores this shirt!

You can imagine me sewing all these. Yeah, i cut them all. Hehe.

DIY SLR Camera Organizer for Ladies' Purse

So! Finally i got the time to post this one. And I am no less than proud of what I have done. Ha! But before anything, I'd like to confess that this is one of the products from my lurking to tutorial sites and lately, PINTEREST (yes, i am now a proud member). So here it is:

What i did was measure the bottom of my purse, the sides and some dividers and done, sew them together with a half-inch foam inside. Voila, i got an SLR camera pouch insde my purse. I know there are lots of camera bags nowadays but I could not "stomach" those very expensive bags --- and of course i could not afford. This is very handy because i could just remove it from my pouch when i dont have to bring the camera along AND the great plus is that this pouch doubles as my baby bag organizer too. I can separate the nappies and baby bottles and my wallet. Just great, right?

This my bag. It's an old bag from Girbaud.

But this is a spacious bag. The straps are strong I could even put 5 kilos of rice in this one without breaking apart. So hurray to Girbaud.

So, okay, I'm not really a photographer. But i have a wonderful daughter who likes to pose for the camera. And i would like her to have a good time and let her have all the photos for later.

Selfish

I discovered that doing something artsy and crafty -- is very personal. They say that if you do things yourself [read: DIY projects], you can save a lot, especially if you re-purpose or upscale or up-cycle or renovate. But i have found out that it is way more beyond that. After you have done DIY projects, you get this weird feeling. There is this fulfilling feeling inside and then you smile [like crazy, like you know something others don't - that kind of smile].

Anyway, i think it is selfish. I mean yeah... don't get me wrong.

Memories of a Farm

I remember growing up in a farm near a river. Eating more than 2 viands in every meal (all vegetables, sometimes fish from the river), playing in the small trees, waiting for the strong wind to blow away the ripe mangoes, pick lanzones from the backyard, hunt for my favorite passion fruit from one tree to another, eat uncooked peanuts, the joy of summer harvest and playing in rice paddies, the planting and harvesting of corn, cultivating my own garden - it reminds me the kind of life i want to live. Suburban.

Yes I learned to live with internet, facebook, twitter, smartphones, computers, iPads etcetera. The consumerist world have carefully designed to carve our needs. The truth is, the consumers have no chance to give feedback about what they really need and want in the gadgets and electronics. Before the consumers discover the functions of their gadgets, the newer, more powerful technologies are launched. The business geniuses have designed many things and make you think you need them, not just want them. How did that happen? The internet has been a platform for advertisement and shaped how you think. You think, therefore you buy. :D

Sometimes you wish life is simpler again. Like i do now. But yeah, I have to go back to work.

Feeling Crafty

I'm guilty for always lurking at design blogs and memorizing tutorials on crafts and anything. Deep inside me is an art patron and maybe an artist wanting to be free. :D Ahem. Honestly i did some of the tutorials - hair clips for my daughter, padded organizer for my SLR (so i can carry it in my purse), 3 christmas wreaths (aha!), refrigerator bags for vegetables, crib mat for my daughter's playpen, re-purposed by daughter's long sleeved shirt into a cute blouse and the list goes on.

I want to do many things. It makes me very happy to do crafty things i dont know why. I thank God for this kind of opportunity.

Lord please bless the works of my hands and let all my creations be a proclamation of your glory. Thank you for those bloggers who served as my inspiration. I hope one day i will be able to share and be an inspiration to others too.

Although God’s glory is clearly displayed all around us, sometimes the busyness of everyday life blocks our view. We take for granted His amazing work in our lives. We lose the wonder of the cross. We forget the privilege of being His child. We neglect the pleasure of His presence and miss the beauty of His creation.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for letting me know a person as kind as Sir Othello Cobal. I am not going to take for granted this kind of priviledge you have given me. He tells me amazing stories and let me in his creative mind. He never makes me feel he is bragging. He has been very kind and a great help to many. I'm sure you know that. You even counted the strands of his hair. Now that you are together, tell him I said hi. xxx

One Year Old F I Y A

How time flies! My daughter turned 1 year old last October 3, 2012. She has been super. I was not able to post photos and updates about her as facebook has been a lot more handy these days. Booo.

My little girl started solids at 7 months and we had carefully watched over for any signs of allergic reactions and thank God there were none. And now she is one year old! How cool is that? :D

Here are some of the other photos we took during her Christening cum Birthday Celebration:

Us together. We are very happy and we trust that God will guide us the way to parenthood as we have always wanted for the best for this little sweetheart. All throughout the event, she has been a darling. Never cried. She ate her lunch and had her milk and was always smiling and was in her usual happy self. Thank you so much Lord.

That is her cake. We had 12 cakes for her and for each cake we placed cake toppers with photos for each month. Everyone found her cute in her milestone photos.

That's me and her and her cakes. We got all the cakes from Goldilocks. These are chocolate moist cakes with strawberry gumpaste coat. They are really yummy.
