Ormai l'estate sembra molto lontana, oggi torno con un post che sa di sole e di ricordi, si tratta di un piccolo racconto che mi è stato richiesto e che riporto qui sotto, il titolo è :

I ricordi di un gelso bianco

Agosto è il mese più bello, l’aria è calda e ventilata, il canto delle cicale si fa più forte a mezzogiorno, sono passati tanti anni e inizio a sentire il peso del tempo che passa, non tanto per la mia corteccia ormai matura e brunastra, profondamente solcata e screpolata dal tempo, quanto per le tante storie di uomini che si sono alternate sotto le mie fronde. Venni piantato in una tipica corte sarda, con un grande piazzale, per essere alimento dei bachi da seta circa 130 anni fa, al centro di un paesino sardo un tempo chiamato Crabonaxia ora Villasimius. Sento ancora le voci di bambini...
All’ombra delle mie grandi foglie cuoriformi giocavano insieme 8 sorelline e un fratellino, alcune si divertivano con le trottole ricavate da ghiande (landiri), altre ancora non vedendo l’ora di essere grandi, usavano i vecchi rocchetti di filo legati con dello spago alle caviglie per simulare i tacchi delle signorine, il fratellino intanto si costruiva una palla con delle calze dismesse, mentre la bimba più piccola allungava le sue braccine verso di me per godere dei miei dolci frutti. Ora quei bimbi non ci sono più e alla sera con le mie fronde ampie e grandi foglie, ormai diventato il patriarca di un antico giardino, rendo magiche le notti di quei turisti che banchettano sotto il cielo stellato, mentre sento ancora le voci allegre di quei bambini in quel lontano mese di agosto

Now the summer seems so far away, now I come back with a post that knows and remember, this is a small story that I was asked and I quote below, the title is:

The memories of a white mulberry

I was planted in a typical Sardinian Court, with a large square, to be the food of silkworms about 130 years ago, in the middle of a Sardinian village formerly called Crabonaxia now Villasimius.

I can still hear children's voices ...

In the shadow of my large heart-shaped leaves 8 sisters played together and a little brother, some entertained themselves with tops made from acorns (landiri), others looking forward to not being great, used the old spools of thread tied with twine ankles to simulate the heels of ladies, the little brother in the meantime built a ball with disused stockings, while the youngest stretched his arms toward me to enjoy my sweet fruits.

Now those kids are gone and the evening with my large leaves and large leaves, now become the Patriarch of an ancient garden, I give the magic nights of those tourists who feast under the stars while I still hear cheerful voices of those children in that August.

L’estate si è conclusa, sono stata lontana dal mio blog per diversi mesi e mi è mancato molto. Dopo tanto tempo torno con un post dedicato all’Oriente, mia grande passione.

Azioni quotidiane per noi quasi banali, in Oriente assumono il fascino di un rituale riflessivo e spirituale, come ad esempio la creazione di una composizione floreale. Proprio a questo riguardo oggi volevo parlare dell’arte dell’Ikebana (生け花 o いけばな) letteralmente "fiori viventi".

L’Ikebana è un arte molto antica, giapponese, che si esprime mediante la disposizione dei fiori recisi, conosciuta nel passato come Kadō
(華道 o 花道).

Ebbe origine in Oriente nel VI secolo d.C. con il buddismo, precisamente in Cina e in India, nasce come offerta agli dei, divenendo poi arte in Giappone. In origine l'arte dei fiori era praticata solamente dai ceti nobili e dai monaci buddhisti, le classi elevate del Giappone; dopo tanto tempo si diffuse in tutti i ceti sociali, diventando popolare con il nome di Ikebana in tutto il mondo. Questa arte venne eseguita con diversi stili, Il primo, piuttosto elaborato, fu il Rikka, caratterizzato da composizioni floreali grandi. In seguito fu elaborato uno stile più semplice, il Nageire, al quale seguì il Seika, un Rikka semplificato, meno austero del Nageire che utilizza contenitori alti e profondi.

Oggi ogni scuola adopera un proprio stile personale, introducendo anche l’uso di vasi bassi, rami secchi, pietre e altri materiali naturali.

L’ikebana si compone esprimendo il proprio animo. Prima di vedere l’opera, si fa un inchino e dopo si saluta chi l'ha realizzata. l'ikebana ricerca una bellezza essenziale e pura, diversa dal modo di creare un mazzo di fiori all’occidentale, che viene considerato dagli orientali sciatto, privo di personalità e senza anima.

Ma quali sono le regole per realizzare un ikebana?

La grazia e l’effetto estetico sempre piacevole e armonico viene ottenuto rispettando diverse regole:

Ogni componente utilizzato nella costruzione dell'ikebana deve essere di natura organica, siano essi rami, foglie, erbe o fiori. Gli elementi viventi vengono disposti secondo un sistema ternario, che mira a creare approssimativamente un triangolo. Pertanto si avrà, un ramo più lungo, il più importante, che si avvicina al cielo e quindi al divino (Shin, Paradiso), il ramo intermedio indica l’uomo (Soe) tra cielo e terra e il più corto rappresenta la terra (Hikae). Così come queste tre forze si devono armonizzare per formare l'universo, anche i fiori e i rami si devono equilibrare nello spazio senza forzature in modo armonioso e bello. Anche il vaso fa parte dell’insieme e deve essere scelto con cura.

Secondo il Buddhismo ogni elemento della composizione acquista significato solo in relazione con gli altri elementi, da solo ogni componente è privo di significato...

Intorno alla composizione si deve avere il vuoto, in questo caso il vuoto toglie quantità e permette la valorizzazione della qualità dell'insieme…

Sopra ho postato uno dei miei ikebana, semplice ed essenziale che ho realizzato con muschio, rami rivestiti di licheni e fresie.

Avvicinarsi al mondo con questo spirito, più profondo e meno materialista permette di osservare con occhi nuovi la natura, fermarsi e semplicemente creare un ikebana ci avvicina all’armonia naturale del mondo che è bellezza, nulla di ciò che ci circonda è scontato…basta rallentare e osservare.

Daily activities for us almost trivial, in the East take the charm of a thoughtful and spiritual ritual, such as creating a flower arrangement. Precisely in this regard today I wanted to talk about the art of Ikebana (生け花 or いけばな) literally "living flowers".

Buon 2015 a tutti!

Iniziamo il nuovo anno con buoni propositi, tra questi il primo dovrebbe essere, prenderci cura di noi stessi e del nostro benessere.

In particolare, questo è il periodo di curare mali di stagione e raffreddore. Relativamente alla salute, il mio moto è prevenire anziché curare.

Sempre attingendo dal mondo vegetale, una delle piante che ci viene in aiuto è la curcuma, di cui si usa la polvere del rizoma di colore dorato impiegata in cucina, chiamata anche zafferano d’India, si tratta di una pianta esotica che fa parte della famiglia delle Zingiberaceae come lo zenzero.

Questa spezia da secoli è utilizzata come ingrediente nella medicina indiana Ayurvedica per le sue virtù terapeutiche e preventive contenute nella curcumina, la sostanza attiva. Viene usata tradizionalmente come antiossidante, per combattere i dolori artritici e le infiammazioni in genere, e viene utilizzata anche per prevenire il diabete. La sua azione antinfiammatoria viene potenziata se abbinata all'azione antibiotica naturale del miele creando una Golden cream, un potente miscuglio di ingredienti per combattere mal di gola e raffreddori nonché dolori muscolari.

Il pepe e l’olio presenti nel mix, favoriranno l’assimilazione della curcumina.

L’azione antinfiammatoria e riscaldante dello zenzero completa l’azione benefica.

Come tutte le sostanze che andiamo ad introdurre nel nostro organismo bisogna stare attenti a dosi, intolleranze e interazioni. Infatti la curcuma ha una azione fluidificante del sangue, e deve essere evitata da coloro che hanno gravi problemi al fegato o calcoli biliari o al fegato.

Ecco come preparare la ricetta:

100 g di miele

1 cucchiaio di curcuma

Spruzzata di succo di limone

1 pizzico di pepe nero

1 cucchiaino di zenzero grattugiato o in polvere

Olio vegetale q.b.

Mischiare tutto. È sempre meglio preparalo fresco.

il primo giorno mezzo cucchiaino ogni ora; il secondo giorno ogni due ore e il terzo giorno la stessa dose, solo tre volte al

giorno.

Si può aggiungere questa emulsione nel tè o in tisane.”

Una Bougainvillea bianca nel mio giardino

Ormai è da un po' che non parlo del mio giardino, in effetti l'autunno spegne i colori vivaci degli spazi verdi, ma sorprendentemente non del mio, infatti note di candido bianco hanno reso il mio giardino etereo simile a quello romantico inglese.

Grazie a lei...

Quando vidi la prima Bougainvillea bianca, in estate, in una casa vicino al mare,fu subito amore....decisi dopo tempo di comprarne una che dopo un solo mese ha letteralmente illuminato il giardino con tanti fiori bianchi e stranamente in pieno autunno!

Le lacrime cambiano con le emozioni

Buongiorno a tutti!
Finalmente esce un po' di sole a scaldarci dentro e fuori...

Oggi volevo parlarvi delle foto di una artista che hanno catturato la mia attenzione, poiché amo e mi interesso di fotografia, mi sono imbattuta nell'artista Rose-Lynn Fisher, nel suo esperimento la Fischer, conferma il fatto che le nostre lacrime sono costituite da sostanze differenti che produciamo a seconda che il nostro sia un pianto di dolore, di commozione, di gioia,ecc. Questo esperimento è visibile nel suo sito dell'artista http://www.rose-lynnfisher.com/tears.html, in cui si trova la galleria di immagini relative a foto di 100 tipi di lacrime diverse, a partire da quelle basali, cioè lubrificanti dell'occhio a quelle originate da emozioni nonché quelle spontanee causate dal taglio di cipolle.

L'esperimento è durato 5 anni mediante l'utilizzo di macro e micro fotografia.

In generale le lacrime sono formate da sostanze organiche che comprendono sali minerali, enzimi, oli e anticorpi, ma è interessante notare come in base alle nostre emozioni, vengano secrete sostanze molto diverse fra loro, per esempio le lacrime di commozione sono costituite anche da ormoni e proteine, infatti sono presenti neurotrasmettitori come leucina ed encefalina con funzione antidolorifica.

Questo ci conferma ancora di più che il nostro corpo è fortemente legato alle nostre emozioni e che il nostro benessere dipende da esse, poiché ogni sentimento è in grado di stimolare al livello chimico il nostro corpo e indurre rilassamento o stress a seconda di ciò che proviamo.

Piante amiche contro la tosse

Buongiorno amici,

Oggi vorrei parlare delle piante che possono aiutarci nel periodo freddo per superare raffreddamenti o influenze e tosse, generalmente ci affidiamo a sostanze medicinali di sintesi comprate in farmacia, come sciroppi, bustine, antinfiammatori ecc. Ma se andiamo a vedere i rimedi naturali, utilizzati in passato dai nostri antenati e quindi testati da generazioni, vediamo che si possono ritrovare tante piante amiche che ci possono venire incontro per aiutarci durante i nostri malanni stagionali. Molti rimedi erboristici che possiamo trovare in erboristeria possono essere un valido aiuto, ma se decidiamo di fare da noi ecco alcuni suggerimenti per l'utilizzo di piante e sostanze naturali per il nostro benessere. Alcune specie vegetali, come l'altea, la malva, la camomilla, il timo e la menta, sono tra le più conosciute per questo scopo ma esistono vegetali quali l'aglio e la cipolla che possono essere utilizzate per creare sciroppi.

Molte di queste possono essere coltivate nel nostro giardino o in vaso se siamo in appartamento o raccolte nei campi spontanei.

Veniamo ora ai rimedi più efficaci:

Tisane:

Camomilla

La camomilla nome scientifico Matricaria chamomilla, è l'erba più conosciuta, le parti migliori che si devono utilizzare sono i fiori gialli del capolino, è preferibile usare il capolino intero, facilmente acquistabile in erboristeria o coltivabile in vaso.

Avrete un'ottimo infuso aggiungendo del miele, che potrà essere in base ai vostri gusti di lavanda, di sulla, di asfodelo o di eucalipto per una attività balsamica.

Malva e Altea

La Malva silvestris e l'Althaea officinalis, sono piante emollienti, ricche di mucillagini benefiche, entrambe appartenenti alle Malvaceae, risulta utile il loro infuso per lenire le mucose dell'apparato respiratorio e dell'apparato digerente. Si possono usare sia i fiori che le foglie per la malva e la radice per l'altea, due cucchiaini di altea e uno di malva essicate. Decongestiona anche l'apparato urinario.

Salvia e zenzero

Anche la salvia (Salvia officinalis) può essere coltivata in vaso. Le foglie possono essere utilizzate fresche per ottenere un infuso dalle proprietà digestive e contro la tosse, aggiungendo del miele e zenzero (Zingiber officinale), si avrà un infuso caldo, aromatico e piccante che aiuterà i bronchi e l'apparato digestivo soprattutto in caso di acidità e cattiva digestione. Si consiglia di utilizzate circa cinque foglie per tazza in acqua bollente e un pezzetto di zenzero fresco tagliato a rondelle. La Malva silvestris è una pianta emolliente, facilmente rinvenibile in natura nei sentieri lontani dall'inquinamento e facilmente coltivabile, utile l'infuso per lenire le mucose dell'apparato respiratorio e apparato digerente. Si possono usare sia i fiori che le foglie nella dose di 5, 6 foglie per tazza. Decongestiona anche l'apparato urinario.

Lavanda

La lavanda (Lavandula angustifolia) coltivata facilmente in vaso. I fiori vengono solitamente raccolti verso la fine dell'estate e lasciati essiccare. Dai fiori di lavanda, nella quantità di un cucchiaino di fiori secchi per tazza, può essere ottenuto un infuso dalle proprietà calmanti e rilassanti. Anche qui ci starà benissimo il miele e se volete qualche foglia di salvia. Infuso calmante e rilassante.

Sciroppi:

Sciroppo di miele

Per la preparazione dello sciroppo, riscaldate in un pentolino il succo di un limone e versatelo in una ciotola aggiungendo uncucchiaio di olio vegetale e mezzo bicchiere di miele. Mescolate bene per amalgamare il tutto e trasferite in barattoli di vetro sterilizzati, da conservare in frigorifero. Sciroppo piacevole, prendetene uno o due cucchiai al bisogno per calmare la tosse.

Decotto di cipolle

Fatte un decotto con una grande cipolla, portate ad ebollizione e lasciate cuocere fino a quando risulta ben cotta. Una volta pronto, lasciatelo raffreddare e consumate un cucchiaio al bisogno per la tosse.

Sciroppo di aglio

Immergete 4 spicchi d'aglio grandi, tagliateli a metà e metteteli in tre bicchieri d'acqua. Riponete il tutto in una pentola e lasciate cuocere fino a quando l'acqua non sarà evaporata per metà. togliere gli spicchi d'aglio e aggiungete al decotto d'aglio mezzo bicchiere di aceto di mele e 50 grammi di miele. Mescolate, portate ad ebollizione per alcuni minuti, lasciate raffreddare e conservate in una bottiglietta di vetro in frigorifero. Prendetene un cucchiaio al giorno. Sentirete in questo sciroppo l'aspro dell'aceto. Alternativa a questo sciroppo, potete prendete direttamente mezzo cucchiaino di aceto e un cucchiaino di miele.

La zucca gialla nella tradizione sarda

Dopo un po' di tempo, ci sentiamo nuovamente, ormai anche ottobre sta passando…

Questo è il mese in cui la natura ci avvisa che sta per andare in riposo e ci ricorda che l’autunno è inoltrato.

Il giardino si spegne dei colori solari dell’estate per lasciare spazio a quelli più cupi, rossastri e profondi.

Così compaiono i rossi scarlati del peperoncino, gli aranciati delle zucche, i bordeaux delle foglie di vite e i rosa scuro delle eriche nane. Questa è la stagione dei colori profondi e intensi, delle passeggiate nel bosco e in campagna, dei primi funghi e del clima mite (almeno qui in Sardegna).

Oggi vi volevo parlare proprio di un frutto, meglio detto come ortaggio a frutto, che rappresenta nell'immaginario collettivo l'ortaggio di ottobre per eccellenza, ovvero la zucca, nome latino Cucurbita maxima Duchesne.

Nella mia isola sarda, è stata sempre poco usata, in quanto avventizia. Nella mia stessa famiglia si è utilizzata sporadicamente, ma andando a verificare gli studi etnobotanici sardi ho scoperto che anche questo ortaggio entrava nel quotidiano agro-pastorale di un tempo, anche se come specie per rituali e per scopi artigianali.

In generale il frutto secco veniva utilizzato come recipiente per diversi scopi, spesso come mestoli, altre volte come recipiente o come borracce da vino senza collo al quale veniva applicato un cinturino di cuoio o corda per il trasporto.

Una delle usanze particolari che risulta dalla fusione di riti pagani ancestrali e cristianesimo, è quella che avviene in alcuni paesi sardi il 30 novembre per Sant’Andrea, detto Sant’Andrìa, nell'imbrunire i ragazzi e bambini fanno una fiaccolata, ognuno di essi tiene in mano una zucca svuotata e sagomata a forma di teschio umano, spesso intagliata con naso occhi e bocca con all'interno una candela accesa. L’offerta consiste in frutta secca e dolci per i piccoli e vino per i più grandi.

A Bolotana e in altri paesi del Marghine, nei mesi di siccità si praticava un rito propiziatorio per la pioggia con il nome di Su Maimòne, i cittadini si riunivano nella piazza principale del paese portando un fantoccio formato da una zucca enorme su cui venivano intagliati occhi, naso e bocca e portato in processione fino ad una fonte d’acqua in cui veniva immerso più volte e sollevato al cielo in segno di richiesta di pioggia.

Il culto del Maimone ancora oggi è presente in Ogliastra e in alcuni centri della Barbagia. Fino al secolo scorso, i contadini e i pastori sardi lo invocavano intonando questa filastrocca:

Ma chi era Maimòne?

Lo studioso Mario Ligia afferma che Maimòne sia una divinità della pioggia di origine antica protosarda, che venne poi reinterpretata dai Fenici. Analizzando la radice Maim’o, in fenicio significa acqua mentre in ebraico indica un demone. Sempre lo stesso studioso lo identifica con la divinità pluvia libico-berbera di Amon, con la differenza che la radice del vocabolo sardo Maimone, per la presenza della vocale i, risulterebbe più antica e proverrebbe direttamente dall'Asia Minore e non dall'Africa.

Alcuni di questi rituali sono tornati in uso negli ultimi anni preservando in questo modo tradizioni antiche e simboliche molto affascinanti.

È bello scoprire culti antichi che hanno fatto parte della storia della propria terra ormai sconosciuti per via della globalizzazione.

Proprio per questo è importante continuare a diffondere ciò che è esistito per non dimenticarlo.

The expert Mario Ligia says that Maimone is a god of the rain of ancient origin Proto, which was later reinterpreted by the Phoenicians. Fiori di cappero, boccioli gustosi

Il cappero è diffuso in tutto il bacino del Mediterraneo.

Si tratta di un arbusto che cresce spontaneo solo su substrati calcarei.

Il suo ambiente naturale è costituito dalle rocce calcaree, da vecchie mura o dalle falesie.

È una specie che ama il sole e i luoghi aridi.

Conosciuta fin dall'antichità, si riportano le prime notizie nella letteratura greca e nella Bibbia.

Il cappero è presente nelle regioni mediterranee da tempo immemorabile e veniva utilizzato con finalità medicinali ed alimentari dalle civiltà antiche.

Le prime notizie storiche si apprendono dalla letteratura greca e nella Bibbia, dapprima usata come pianta medicinale, in decotti e poi come pianta culinaria. La parte edule è costituita dai boccioli, chiamati capperi,che vengono messi a macerare sotto sale o sotto aceto, mentre Il frutto, più delicato del cappero, è detto capperone, cucuncio o cocuncio e si trova in commercio sotto sale, sott'olio o sotto aceto.

Il cappero in Sardegna venne introdotto nella gastronomia nella seconda metà dell’800, dalla famiglia Dentoni d’origine genovese, precisamente da Domenico Dentoni, che in quel periodo era sindaco di Selargius, egli diede avvio ad una intensa coltivazione nelle campagne di Selargius, paese vicino Cagliari.

Le donne di Selargius (is arregaterasa) acquistavano i capperi dai produttori e li trasportavano con “is crobis” (ceste) sopra la testa per rivenderli nei mercati di Cagliari.

Gli uomini, invece, con l'ausilio del “carro a molle” lo trasportavano in giro per la Sardegna, in questo modo vennero incorporati nella gastronomia sarda, facendo sì che questi particolari boccioli, potessero essere introdotti nella cucina sarda a cui conferiva nuova personalità.

La mia ricetta Green:

Spaghetti al sugo di capperi e cubetti croccanti di melanzana

300 g di spaghetti

1 melanzana grande

2 spicchi d'aglio

1 ciuffo di prezzemolo

6 cucchiai di olio extravergine d'oliva

10 g di capperi sotto sale

60 g di olive verdi e nere snocciolate

1 pizzico di origano

300 g di pomodori maturi e dolci

sale e pepe

farina per impanare le melanzane

preparazione:

Preparate la melanzana, tagliatela a cubetti e infarinateli nella farina, in una padella larga mettete dell'olio extravergine a scaldare, e versare le melanzane e friggere, dovranno diventare croccanti, mettetele da parte.

Sbucciate l'aglio pestarlo e unire al prezzemolo tritato.

Fate soffriggere leggermente in olio d'oliva, quindi aggiungete i capperi, lavati in modo intenso per levare il sale e le olive tagliate a metà. Profumate con un pizzico di origano, salate e pepate e continuate a cuocere per qualche minuto.

A parte, sbollentate i pomodori, spellateli e tagliateli a dadini, uniteli ai capperi e alle olive cuocete per 15 minuti.

Cuocete gli spaghetti in abbondante acqua salata, scolateli al dente e versateli direttamente nella padella con il sugo. Saltate la pasta a fuoco vivace per far insaporire bene, aggiungere i cubetti di melanzana, aggiungete prezzemolo tritato, crudo e servite subito.

Spaghetti sauce with capers and diced crispy eggplant

In questo periodo fioriscono i tagetes, o tagete o garofani indiani.
Grazie al loro intenso profumo, riescono a tenere lontano diversi parassiti dalle nostre piante dell'orto, come i pomodori, patate e porri, contribuendo con i loro colori solari a rallegrare il verde. Contemporaneamente le radici del tagete rilasciano nel terreno delle sostanze che "spazzano via" dal suolo i nematodi, vermi deleteri per le piante.

Fiorisce da Marzo a Settembre.

la semina in genere si esegue da marzo ad aprile, coprendo i semi con poca terra. Non hanno esigenze particolari di suolo, ma gradiscono molto sole. Le piantine andranno poi diradate ogni 15 cm circa.

Godetevi le macchie di colore!

La Nigella, una pianta antica

La Nigella è una deliziosa pianta che conferisce spontaneità e naturalezza al giardino. È possibile trovare spontanea nei campi incolti delle zone mediterranee, la specie Nigella damascena L. var. minor Boiss, esile, di colore blu intenso e con un solo strato di 5 petali. Mentre la Nigella sativa L., è una pianta antica, già citata nella Bibbia sotto il nome di “grano nero”(habbe sauda, in arabo), conosciuta già al tempo degli antichi romani e degli Egizi, risulta inoltre inserita nella medicina tradizionale coranica.
In India è ancora apprezzata in cucina e in medicina, mentre in Europa venne utilizzata fino al XVII secolo e in seguito abbandonata.

Tra le proprietà medicinali della Nigella si ricordano quelle emmenagoghe, toniche, narcotiche ed afrodisiache e quelle antinfiammatorie per mitigare le emicranie e il mal di denti. Tutte queste proprietà, sono ricondotte all’alcaloide tossico Damascenina.

Attualmente i semi possiedono diversi usi, vengono utilizzati per decorare saponi naturali, vengono posti nella biancheria per tener lontani tarme ed insetti, per il loro aroma delicato e speziato, sono stati utilizzati in passato per aromatizzare focacce, gelati, liquori ecc, e soprattutto per farne l'olio, tradizione ancora presente nella gastronomia medio-orientale e indiana.

Avendo un certo livello di tossicità, il suo impiego migliore resta quello di specie ornamentale, con i suoi fiori doppi dai colori eterei che variano dal bianco all'azzurro nelle diverse sfumature, fino al lilla, mentre le sue capsule particolari vengono utilizzate per creare composizioni di fiori secchi.

In alcune zone meridionali d’Italia, si coltiva la Nigella sativa, nota come cuminella o cumino nero, con foglie più piccole, pelose e a lacinie più larghe, non possiede le decorative brattee involucrali ne i semi spigolosi della N.damascena. Esiste poi in natura la Nigella arvensis, ovvero la nigella selvatica, che fiorisce d'estate, ma dall'aspetto poco appariscente.
Dopo la sfioritura, è possibile far seccare le capsule decorative per creare mazzolini di fiori secchi.

Avocado, un frutto, un vegetale, un grasso

Buongiorno!
Oggi si parlerà di avocado...
Negli ultimi anni ho apprezzato molto questo frutto.
All'inizio non riuscivo a comprenderne il sapore, con il tempo ho imparato che si tratta di un frutto molto versatile che può essere utilizzato in cucina per pietanze dolci e salate molto saporite e sane. Ricco in acidi grassi come acido linoleico e Omega 3, capaci di combattere il colesterolo "cattivo",vitamina A, vitamina E, e antiossidanti come la luteina e il glutatione, si presenta come un vegetale ricco di preziosi nutrienti benefici.

Tra un'insalata ed un'altra ovviamente iniziavo ad avere qualche seme da parte e poiché tendo a seminare qualunque cosa sia seminabile, ho deciso di fare degli esperimenti di coltivazione. Il metodo più conosciuto è quello che consiste nell'infilzare con degli stecchini su 4 lati il seme e inserirlo in un bicchiere di acqua immergendo solo la parte inferiore del seme e aspettare...

Dopo tanta attesa senza risultato ho deciso di fare diversamente, ho preso il seme fresco, l'ho lavato e lasciato asciugare per un paio di giorni, dopodiché ho riempito un vaso con del semplice terriccio universale e ci ho inserito il seme con pressione fino a metà, ho innaffiato e aspettato. dopo circa un mese ecco la sorpresa...un piccolo miracolo...non credevo ai miei occhi, una piccola piantina di avocado stava crescendo nel mio giardino...

Il suo nome latino è Persea americana Mill., è una pianta arborea che appartiene alla famiglia delle Lauraceae. Originario del Messico e Guatemala,veniva utilizzato già dagli Atzechi e dai Maya.

Può arrivare a 20 metri di altezza e a 200 anni di età. Si tratta di un albero sempreverde. I fiori sono piccoli e poco evidenti, riuniti in racemi, sono formati da 3 petali e da 3 sepali. Quando fecondati, i fiori femminili danno origine ad un frutto a drupa, chiamato avocado, il colore è verde o violaceo, con buccia ruvida o liscia, all'interno possiede un solo grande seme a forma di goccia e una polpa giallognola, ricca in grassi. Riguardo la cura della pianta, non possiede alcuna esigenza in fatto di terreno, ma teme i suoli salini e calcarei, si adatta bene a tutte le esposizioni ma preferisce esposizioni dirette al sole. Il suolo deve essere sempre umido e le temperature non devono scendere sotto i 10°C.
Provate anche voi a coltivare questa pianta, potrà essere anche un bellissimo e prezioso regalo :)

2 Peperoncini Chiles serranos
2 Pomodori maturi
3 Gambi di coriandolo o prezzemolo
1/2 Lime o limone succo
1/2 Cipolla piccola
1 spicchio Aglio
q.b. Sale

Ridurre tutto a pezzi, aggiungere il succo di lime o limone e passate tutto al mortaio o mezzaluna. La gacamole è pronta, servite con nachos, tacos o tostadas, ma anche come crema per accompagnare i secondi piatti o antipasti.

Soleirolia, design smeraldo dal sapore shabby chic

Ammetto il mio amore per le piante retrò, vintage, o meglio le piante tipiche dei giardini delle nostre nonne, pertanto ho deciso di parlarvi di volta in volta di quelle specie che costituiscono il giardino shabby chic, fintamente decadente, romantico e fresco, ovvero il mio giardino ideale.

In particolare oggi vi parlerò della Soleiroila, graziosa piantina erbacea molto decorativa.
La prima volta che la notai da arredatrice e non da botanica, fu quando una sera del 2010, in un negozio di allestimenti e arredo interni in stile shabby, la vidi su un tavolo di legno decapato, accanto a pizzi e merletti e lanterne di legno bianco, fu subito amore! Decisi che sarebbe stata presente al mio matrimonio sul tavolo dedicato alla confettata insieme ad altre piantine shabby di cui vi parlerò nei prossimi articoli.

Parliamo di lei, Il nome comune di questa pianta è Soleirolia o Helxine appartiene al genere Helxine della famiglia delle Urticaceae e comprende una sola specie la Helxine soleirolii o Soleirolia soleirolii, originaria della Corsica e della Sardegna. Si tratta di una piantina vivace sempreverde e dall'aspetto fresco, possiede foglioline molto piccole e rotonde. Questo suo aspetto, fa si che si sposi bene con vasi dai colori in contrasto dalle tonalità polverose, come il bianco, grigio e tortora, tipicamente shabby chic.

Grazie al suo portamento strisciante conferisce al giardino o all'angolo verde in cui si trova, una grazia fintamente scomposta di grande effetto scenico.

I fusti sottili e carnosi sono molto fragili. Quando è rigogliosa crea una deliziosa palla verde con tanti getti delicati e ricadenti sul vaso. Durante la primavere e l'estate produce piccoli fiorellini quasi invisibili di colore bianco, privi di interesse decorativo. Si presta come piantina da vaso, pianta tappezzante, come pianta da appartamento, o in basket appesi.

Ama gli ambienti poco luminosi e la terra sempre umida, necessita di essere bagnata spesso e non facendo mai asciugare il suolo completamente. In inverno la temperatura minima deve essere di 7°C, in estate la massima di 21°C. Evitare le esposizioni dirette al sole. Come substrato scegliere un buon terriccio costituito da terreno fertile e torba mescolato ad un po' di sabbia. Vista la loro versatilità, è possibile inserire la Soleiroila anche in contesti di carattere moderno, utilizzando vasi essenziali e colorati.

Le vostre piantine sono pronte per illuminare i vostri spazi verdi e i vostri amici non potranno che notare la grazia di questa pianta che sa regalare freschezza e romanticismo ad ogni angolo.

McPimps, i miei biscotti "digestive"

Nell'estate del 2005 mi trovavo a Londra ospite da amici, e durante l'ora del tè mi vennero offerti dei grandi biscotti coperti di cioccolato al latte, questi biscotti erano i McVitie's e fu amore fin dal primo morso! Ma vediamo come sono nati i biscotti più famosi d'Inghilterra.

Nel 1809 un ragazzo di nome Robert McVitie iniziava a lavorare come aiutante fornaio.

Dopo 20 anni con il padre aprirono un emporio in Rose Street ad Edimburgo. Nel 1844 si sposò e naquero i figli che mandò a studiare per specializzarli in prodotti da forno. Quando mori nel 1884, il primogenito apri una grande attività specializzata in biscotti. Nel 1892 il giovane dipendente Alexander Grant inventò per la grande azienda, la famosissima ricetta dei biscotti “digestive”, perché si riteneva che l'alto contenuto di bicarbonato in essi contenuto facilitasse la digestione, tale ricetta è ancora segreta. Nel 1987 vennero inventati i biscotti al cioccolato al latte, nel 1999 la variante al caramello, nel 2009 i biscotti integrali.

Spinta dal bel ricordo di quel periodo ho pensato di riprodurli in casa apportando alcune modifiche rispetto agli ingredienti riportanti nella confezione. Gli ho dato il nome di McPimps (il perché è un segreto).
Il risultato consiste in biscotti leggermente croccanti ma friabili, buonissimi, vicino all'originale ma non identici.

Ecco a voi le dosi:

100g di farina tipo 0 BIO

100g di farina integrale BIO

1cucchiaio di farina di avena o di segale integrali BIO

60ml di olio di mais

40g di burro (o 50ml di olio di mais)

50g di zucchero di canna

2 pizzichi di sale fino

4 cucchiai di acqua o 6 fino ad ottenere la consistenza giusta

1 cucchiaino di lievito per dolci in polvere

1 cucchiaino colmo di orzo solubile

1 cucchiaino di zucchero di canna di cocco

Impastate tutto insieme e mettere in frigo minimo per 30 minuti, stendere la pasta sottile circa 3mm e creare dei biscotti con stampo rotondo o con una tazza.

Infornate a 180°C per 20 minuti, se li volete al cioccolato al latte o fondente, una volta cotti e freddi spennellarli con cioccolato fuso e lasciarli asciugare.

Spello, un borgo tra i fiori

Dopo un piacevole e rilassante soggiorno in Umbria, ho deciso di
raccontare un frammento di questa splendida regione che ancora non conoscevo, l'Umbria è affascinante per tanti motivi, per la storia e le prelibatezze culinarie e soprattutto per i paesaggi immersi nel verde e nella natura.

Dopo la bella Perugia e la storica Gubbio, ho deciso di soggiornare in una cittadina deliziosa sospesa nel tempo, Spello. Risalendo una ripida collina immersa nel verde ci si ritrova al centro di questo antico borgo che testimonia un passato ricco di storia prevalentemente di epoca romana.

Il paese è accessibile da tre porte chiamate rispettivamente: Porta Venere, Porta Urbicale, Porta Consolare. Tra i grandi tesori artistici che vengono conservati a Spello, vi sono sicuramente gli affreschi del Pinturicchio all'interno della Cappella Baglioni, nella Chiesa di S. Maria Maggiore.

Di particolare interesse storico-architettonico, è
l’area alto collinare montana che comprende due villaggi di origine medioevale: San Giovanni e Collepino. Ciò che amo di più di questo piccolo borgo è la coerenza architettonica di tutte

le case, rimaste coerenti alle strutture originarie anche nella loro ristrutturazione, tale coerenza per me è una discriminante
fondamentale e indice di qualità paesaggistica di un luogo.

Subito colpiscono le casette di pietra curate nei minimi dettagli e poi i tanti fiori che contrastano con i muri candidi di pietra.

Proprio i fiori fanno di Spello una cittadina vivace e colorata
che in occasione della festività del Corpus Domini (nona
domenica dopo la Pasqua), vengono mostrati nelle manifestazioni a tema floreale come le “Infiorate di Spello”. Durante tale evento, gli infioratori lavorano intensamente per una intera notte per realizzare tappeti e quadri floreali che tappezzano le vie del centro storico per celebrare il passaggio del Corpo di Cristo, portato in processione dal vescovo la domenica mattina.

Si formeranno quindi dei percorsi di circa 1,5 km caratterizzati
dall’alternarsi di oltre sessanta diverse infiorate.

Se vi trovate da quelle parti o decidete di fare un viaggio in Umbria all'insegna del relax, della natura e della spiritualità, non potete non passare per questa bellissima cittadina verde.

"Su Nenniri", la tradizione pagana

Buona Pasquetta a tutti, dopo i festeggiamenti di Pasqua trovo il tempo per parlarvi di un rito pagano molto particolare e interessante, "Su Nenniri"!

Questo rito è vecchissimo e tipico dei paesi del Mediterraneo e resiste in ogni paese con i suoi miti. In Grecia e in Asia Minore, per esempio, si realizzano tutt'oggi i giardini di Adone, che si creano riempiendo dei vasi con germogli di cereali che con la loro crescita e appassimento veloce simboleggiano la vita della divinità e la sua morte, dopodiché vengono nuovamente gettati nell'acqua per germogliare nuovamente e simboleggiare la resurrezione del dio.

Nella Sardegna antica, invece, il mito parla di sacerdotesse deputate al culto dell'acqua, che mettevano in scena la morte del dio, cui seguiva il pianto delle prefiche( donne pagate per piangere ai funerali) e poi, il matrimonio tra il mascolino e la Dea Madre che veniva accompagnato da cerimonie dinanzi a tutta la popolazione in processione. Oggi questo mito è stato sostituito dal rito della processione in "S'INCONTRU" ovvero l'incontro della Madre di Gesù e suo figlio risorto. Nel lontano passato, in Sardegna, prima del cristianesimo, questo rituale stava ad indicare il solstizio di primavera, e quindi il passaggio dall'inverno freddo e buio alla rinascita della vita in primavera.

Tale usanza è, appunto, quella chiamata "Su Nenniri" ed è attualmente diffusa in tutta l'isola.

"Su Nenniri" si può preparare con diversi tipi di seme, ma tradizionalmente vengono utilizzati i semi di grano, meno di orzo e lino. Consiste nel disporre i semi di grano in dei piccoli vasi colmi di terra, per due-tre settimane prima della Pasqua, e conservati e innaffiati in luogo buio e caldo; i germogli in assenza di luce cresceranno di una colorazione bianco-giallina poi gradualmente verdina quando esposti alla luce (vedi prima foto). A quel punto i vasetti andranno decorati con fiori e nastri, e regalati in segno di buona fortuna e prosperità. "Su Nenniri" avuto in regalo deve essere messo al centro della tavola per il pranzo di Pasqua e lì tenuto fino a che non appassisce. A Cabras, e in altri paesi della Sardegna Campidanese e Ogliastrina, "Su Nenniri" viene preparato a fine maggio per la festa della Patrona Santa Maria (che coincide con la dea Madre) ed esposto un mese dopo e poi ritirato per beneficiare dei poteri magici ad esso conferiti.

In altre aree della Sardegna "Su Nenniri" veniva seminato nel periodo di maggio e preparato per San Giovanni(giorno prodigioso nella tradizione Sarda), e quindi anch'esso raccolto per utilizzarne i poteri magici acquisiti.

Questo rituale ancora vivo, segna la volontà di un popolo di far sopravvivere quelle usanze pagane che simboleggiano il legame ancestrale con la propria terra e tradizioni.

Today, this myth has been replaced by the ritual of the procession in "S'incontru" or the meeting of the Mother of Jesus and her son resurrected. In the distant past, in Sardinia, before Christianity, this ritual was to indicate the spring solstice, and then the transition from winter cold and dark to the rebirth of life in spring.
This custom is, in fact, the one called "On Nenniri" and is now widespread throughout the island.

"On Nenniri" can be prepared with different types of seed, but traditionally are used the seeds of wheat, barley and flax less. Consists of arranging the wheat seeds in small pots filled with earth, for two to three weeks before Easter, and watered and kept in dark, warm place; sprouts grow in the absence of light of a yellowish-white color and gradually light green when exposed to light (see first photo). At that point, the jars will be decorated with flowers and ribbons, and given away as a sign of good luck and prosperity. "On Nenniri" had a gift should be put at the center of the table for Easter dinner and kept there until it wilts. A Cabras, Sardinia and other countries campidanese and Ogliastrina, "On Nenniri" is prepared at the end of May for the feast of the patron saint Santa Maria (which coincides with the Mother Goddess) and exposed to a month later and then withdrawn to benefit from the magical powers conferred upon it.
In other areas of Sardinia "On Nenniri" was sown during May and prepared for San Giovanni (day prodigious in the Sardinian tradition), and then also collected to use its magical powers acquired.
This ritual is still alive, marks the will of a people to survive those pagan customs that symbolize the ancestral link with their land and traditions.

Da tempo avrei voluto scrivere di questa ricetta slovacca che ho avuto modo di conoscere mesi fa.

Nel Natale scorso mi sono recata a Bratislava in vacanza, e ho avuto modo di conoscere questa cultura che tra l'altro ha anche una ricca tradizione culinaria. Ovviamente essendo un popolo del Nord, possiede delle pietanze abbastanza ricche e caloriche.

Tra le mie ricette slovacche preferite, ho scelto di parlarvi di queste frittelle o crepe ai semi di papavero (conoscete la mia passione per i papaveri :)) chiamate in slovacco, Makové lokše.

Solo a nominarle mi tornano in mente i bellissimi momenti vissuti passeggiando tra i mercatini di Natale con in mano del vin brulè e le mie frittelle.

Ma adesso veniamo a noi, eccovi la ricetta:

Makové lokše

500g di patate lessate con la buccia

150g farina

un pizzico di sale

ripieno:

burro(la ricetta originale prevede grasso di anatra),zucchero al velo, semi di papavero e confettura di prugne

(in alternativa crema di nocciole e zucchero al velo)

Passate le patate nel passa-verdure, unite la farina e il sale, impastate il tutto e create con la pasta ottenuta un cilindro da cui si ricaveranno dei dischi di pasta. A questo punto stendere i dischi ottenendo delle sfoglie sottili e circolari che andranno cotte alcuni minuti in piastra per crepe o piastra antiaderente da entrambi i lati fino a quando non si creeranno delle macchie brune, spennellate delicatamente con burro o olio e mettetele da parte. Intanto prendete i semi di papavero e mischiateli in un piatto con lo zucchero al velo. Riprendete ogni crepe (che può essere consumata tale quale come pane) e su di un lato, velatele leggermente con della confettura di prugne, cospargete con il mix di zucchero al velo e semi di papavero. A questo punto arrotolate le crepe e disponetele sul piatto da portata e cospargere di zucchero al velo e semi di papavero.

For a long time I wanted to write this recipe Slovak that I got to know months ago.

In the last Christmas I went to Bratislava on vacation, and I got to know this culture which by the way also has a rich culinary tradition. Obviously being a people of the North, possesses rich enough food and calories.

Among my favorite recipes Slovak, I chose to talk about these pancakes or crepe poppy seeds (you know my passion for poppies :)) calls in Slovak, Makové lokše.

Only to name them I recall the beautiful moments spent walking through the Christmas market with mulled wine in hand and my pancakes.

But now we come to us, here's the recipe:

Makové lokše

500g of boiled potatoes in their skins

150g flour

a pinch of salt

filling:

butter (the original recipe calls for duck fat), icing sugar, poppy seeds and plum jam

(alternatively, hazelnut cream and icing sugar)

Pass the potatoes in the through-vegetables, add the flour and salt, knead with the dough and create a cylinder from which we derive the disks of dough. At this point, stretch the disks of getting thin sheets and circulars that will be cooked in a few minutes the plate for cracks or non-stick griddle on both sides until brown spots will be created, brush lightly with butter or oil and set aside. Meanwhile, take the poppy seeds and mix them in a bowl with the icing sugar. Take back any cracks (which can be consumed as such as bread) and on one side, slightly velatele with the plum jam, sprinkle with mixture of icing sugar and poppy seeds. At this point, rolled up the cracks, and arrange on a serving dish and sprinkle with icing sugar and poppy seeds.

Buongiorno a tutti! La giornata stupenda di oggi mi ha permesso di dedicarmi ai papaveri e al loro trapianto.

Ho avuto in dono da cari amici i semi di papavero da oppio (Papaver somniferum), pianta bienne che possiede fiori bianchi, rosa, malvacei o viola, in base alle varietà. Da esso si estrae l’oppio. Questa specie può essere coltivata a scopo ornamentale, poiché è illegale solo l’estrazione dell'oppio ma non la coltivazione della pianta. I papaveri non prediligono i terreni acidi ma quelli calcarei o neutri. Resistono ai suoli aridi e drenati e necessitano di essere innaffiati solo quando il terreno è asciutto.
