My husband and I have started watching a hilarious show called Up All Night. I am so glad that we got satellite TV from http://www.DirectStarTV.com/ so we could put this show on our DVR. The show is about a couple who has a baby and the husband stays at home with the baby because the wife had a higher paying job and wanted to go back to work after the baby was born. Each episode is about the struggles of raising a baby, such as lack of sleep, grandparent input, and financial strain. Because my husband and I have two young children, we can relate to the show so well. There was one episode that we thought was really funny about leaving the baby with an overnight babysitter for the first time. The couple left the baby with the wife’s boss and she called them and asked where the baby likes to hide. She was joking, but it reminded me of when we left our son overnight for the first time. We left him with my mom so my husband and I could get a good night’s sleep. My mom ended up calling me at midnight to say that our son would not take a bottle and had been crying for over two hours. Needless to say, I had to go to my parent’s house and spend the rest of the night with them. I like Up All Night because it makes us feel like we are not the only parents who go through these types of issues.

We just got back from a six day trip to Texas to visit my husband’s brother and his wife. We had a great trip and the drive was not too bad. We took our two year old and our six month old with us and many people told us we were crazy for making a drive that long with two little ones, but they did exceptionally well in the car. We stopped half way there on the way there and back and stayed in a hotel. On the way back we stayed in a Fairfield Inn and I realized when we were almost home that I left my pillow at the hotel. I am glad we have Clearwirelessinternet because when we got home I immediately looked up the hotel’s phone number. When I asked about my pillow, they told me that they had it and they would be happy to ship it to me. They took it to UPS and called me for my credit card info so they could ship it later that day. I was so impressed by their customer service. I normally would not care about a pillow being left behind, but my mom got us that pillow set last year and I know it was expensive. Plus the pillowcase that the pillow is in is from my favorite set of sheets. I will be glad to have my pillow back in a few days

When I went to tvbydirect.com it was with the intention of getting BRAVO because so many people at my office were talking about it. A strange thing happened, though, and I got engaged shortly after so now I spend all my time in front of the TV watching wedding show after wedding show. My favorite is the Ultimate Wedding Show with David Tutera because he’s got so many great ideas about things to do to make your wedding really unique. I don’t know where in the world he got the idea to do a guest book out of smooth rocks instead of an actual guest book but I think that’s just the coolest thing I’ve ever heard of and I can’t wait to find out more! I just wish our big day would get here sooner, to be honest with you, since thinking about weddings is just about all I feel like I do anymore. I know that sounds like whining and I guess it is, but I just never thought I’d get so sick of this process!

Social Media Automation For Zazzle

I used to post my new Zazzle product manually to Twitter and it was time consuming. Then I found Twitterfeed and automated the posting of my new products to Twitter and it saves alot of time. Here are step by step instructions on how to set up Twitterfeed:

Log into Twitterfeed

Click Create New Service

Enter the name of your Zazzle Store

Twitterfeed

Enter your Zazzle RSS Feed with your referral code http://feed.zazzle.com/YourStoreName/rss?ps=100&at=YourReferralCode

Click on Advanced

Change Number of Items to Post to 3

Scroll down to suffix and add the hash tags you would use when posting your items to Twitter

Scroll down, click Continue to Step 2

Click on Twitter then click All Done (2nd arrow)

Twitterfeed

Next you should see a screen like this one

Click Dashboard

Now go to Zazzle and create a new product

Check Twitter in about 30 minuters to make sure that your new Zazzle product posts

Working from home is great but I tell you one thing, it’s gotten me really addicted to shopping online. I don’t shop for clothes, though, I like to look at gadgets! Since I’m always in touch with the clients and my office I’ve got all kinds of little communication gizmos that help me… I was one of my first friends to have an iPad and of course I’ve got ever version of the Droid they make. I guess you could call me a gadget hoarder! I went online to look at directTV last week and decided I have to have it too, if only because that’s one gadget I know my wife can get behind. She can watch all her sappy BRAVO shows and I’ll get all the big games on my already huge TV – what’s not to love? I’ve been looking for my next purchase and I think this is it but if my wife knew how little time I’ve been working this week she would haul off and kill me!

Time for a New Laptop

One thing you'll learn about making money online is that it really helps to keep your technology up to date. I am going to be in the market for a new laptop soon and this time I am considering purchasing an apple laptop. I have always been a PC user but about a year ago I purchased an Apple Imac for my son and I am really impressed with the Apple company and their computer equipment.

I am still figuring out which model to purchase but I really like the super thin laptop models that I have been seeing alot lately. Light weight really appeals to me since I take my laptop with me most everywhere I go. I'll post an update once I figure out exactly what model to purchase.

This month, we are in the process of putting the final touches on refurbishing our old home. We just took advantage of the connecticut sears cabinet refacing offer, and I'm proud to say that we are pretty much done with everything that we wanted to do with the house. We have one last thing, and that's get an early start on spring cleaning. We have mounds and mounds of old stuff inside the house that we just don't need anymore. Sure, some of it has sentimental value, it just all keeps adding up and we lose a lot of free space in the house.

We live in a house that is pretty close to the beach, so over the summer, we usually play host to a lot of our friends and family members. It's nice to have people over, but we definitely don't want them to have to stay in a pig sty. We are going to stop using the guest room as storage space and get it back into condition so that we can have people over again. I can't believe it's that time already.

I created 6 or 7 Squidoo lenses last winter as a way to build inbound links to my websites and kind of forgot about them. A few days ago I logged into Squidoo and found that I had earned $1.65. Not alot of money I know but my theory is that if I can make $1.65 then I can double it and make $3.30. If I can make $3.30 I can double that and make $6.60 and so on. You get the idea.

Squidoo shares its Adsense earnings with those who create lenses. I found a formula once. The more highly your Squidoo lens is rated the higher your percentage of earnings. Here is an examples of my squidoo lenses:

Create a Zazzle Store

Zazzle allows you to upload your own orignal artwork and photographs and design great products like t-shirts, bags, mugs, and even skateboards and shoes. Your designed items can be purchased by anyone and this is a great form of passive online income.

My first Zazzle product that sold was a pair of womens Keds sneakers that I had designed with photos of my peony flowers that I grow (and also sell online). They sold about a month after I had designed the shoes on Zazzle. I earned almost $10 as a royalty on my design from Zazzle. The customer had bee referred from my website http://www.bridgewatergardens.com/ so I earned another $10 in referral fees. Not bad for my first sale on Zazzle.

Make Money Online with Google Adsense

"How to increase your adsense earnings" is a topic that I have typed into the Google search box many times. I started running Google Adsense on my flower and gardening website in about 2004 or 2005. It took me one year to make my first $100 and receive a check. With Adsense you don't receive a check until you reach $100. I am happy to report that my Adsense income has nearly doubled every year. There are alot of great books and information resources on how to increase your Adsense earnings. The most effective ways I have found to increase my Adsense earnings are:

1) Make the Adsense ads look like they are not ads, this means:

No Borders in the Adsense ads
Match the font/colors of the Adsense ads text to the fonts/text on the webpage
Make the background of the Adsense ad the same color as the background of the webpage

2) Place the Adsense ad next to the item of most interest on the page, for example next to an eye-catching photo or at the top or bottom of an interesting article

3) For my web content I have found that the best place for ads on my flower and gardening site is the dead center of the screen right now to a very beautiful photo that grabs everyones eyes. For your own website you will need to experiment and see what works best for you.

I started selling on ebay in the Fall of 2008. While I was cleaning out my sons closet on ebay and was selling his old Halloween costumes and other items that we no longer used. One day I was in a recycling center and they had tons of brand new packaged shoelaces that a factory had donated. I thought to myself " I wonder if I could sell these on ebay". I bought a bag full of shoelaces and put them on ebay. They began selling immediately. Today I still purchase from the recycling center and I am also importing shoelaces from China and Hong Kong.
