How do I effectively explain my projects when asked in a technical Interview?

2018-02-02T12:39:00.000+05:30

Like everything in an interview, think about this request from the interviewer’s perspective. What are they trying to learn? Why did they ask this?

As an interviewer, I am looking for several things when I ask about a candidate’s project.

Communication skills. Can they describe the project in 30 seconds? In five minutes? Can they effectively answer drill-down questions and convey a good answer about a technical detail?
Role in project. Were they a leader, a follower, or a fixture to the side? Does their description and their knowledge align with what they say their role was?
Technical savvy. Are they able to talk compellingly about the technology, its limits, its benefits? Can they support their technical choices or talk in a straightforward fashion about poor choices they made? Knowing what they know now, what would they do differently?

Before you interview, read over your resume. Make sure you can give a 30-second elevator pitch about your projects, and a five-minute overview of each. Be able to talk about why you chose the project, what your role was, what choices you made, how the result compared to your expectations, and whether or not the project was successful. Be able to talk about the scope of the project, if it was three months or three hours.

When you’re asked about the project, make sure you know whether you should give an elevator pitch or a significant overview. If there’s a pause after you describe the project, ask whether they want more information or drill-down on any particular part.

Nandi Hills - Bangalore

Enjoy beautiful Sunrise from above the clouds

This was once the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan. It’s a good place for hiking and birding. The hill also has temples dating back to the Chola period. It gets extremely crowded on weekends. The hills offer great views of the surroundings.

Get out of bustling Bangalore for the day and explore Nandi Hills, also known as Nandidurga, on this guided day trip. Marvel at the ancient Nandi temple with its 1,000-year-old sculpture of Nandi placed high on a hill. Stand atop Tipu's Drop, a 2,000-foot (600-meter) drop said to be the spot where condemned prisoners were thrown off the cliffside. After lunch, marvel at Amruth Sarovar, a gorgeous lake surrounded by lush nature. See temples and villages and learn about the history of the area from the guide.

What to Expect

Standing at a height of 4851 feet above sea level, Nandi Hill greets you on your arrival. Have breakfast at a local restaurant while enjoying the gorgeous view and ambiance of the place. Visit Tipu’s Drop, which is a 600 m high cliff face. It is rumored that the condemned prisoners were pushed to their death from here. There are a number of beautiful temples found in these picturesque hills including the Gavi Veerbhadra Swamy Temple. After the exploration of the temples, stop by a museum to learn more about Nandi Hills.

Afterwards enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant followed by the amazing view the Amruth Sarovar. The Amruth Sarovar is a mesmerizing lake with clear lucid water filled to the brim all year round. Depending on your preference, the weather and water level, sometimes you can go down the lake and enjoy the cool beautiful water. There is another water body in this region that heightens the beauty of Nandi Hills - the Arkavathi River. This river originates on the south west of the hills and you can catch a glimpse of some beautiful bungalows with impressive gardens built by the British. The lush greenery of the forest is enhanced by the sunflower gardens and grapevines. The flora and the fauna add to the attraction of this place.

Add Ajax magic in your Struts Web application

2011-07-23T20:26:00.001+05:30

What is Ajax?

Ajax is a term standing for 'Asynchronous Javascript and XML'. It

is a technique, rather than a framework (such as Struts). The reason for the 'buzz' around both it and Web 2.0 is that it allows web

pages to behave less like flat documents and more like dynamic

GUI apps that users might expect from their desktop environments. Ajax techniques can be used for all recent browsers (including Internet Explorer and Netscape/Mozilla). It is already used

by (among others) Microsoft (for it's Outlook web client) and Google (for its Maps and Mail applications). Moreinfo...

starting my first ecllipse java program

2011-07-21T18:00:00.001+05:30

Eclipse is a free open-source Java environment available from http://eclipse.org. Eclipse is a Java program, but it uses a custom user interface toolkit that does not run on all platforms that supports Java 2. Check the web site for supported platforms. Eclipse requires a Java 2 runtime, so you need to install the Java 2 SDK first before installing Eclipse. You can download the SDK from http://java.sun.com/j2se/. more info..
