this podcast we explore how the role of entrepreneurship education
intersects with the challenges of entrepreneurship. While entrepreneurs
thrive on independence, they may not always have the knowledge to
fulfill their business and lifestyle ambitions. It’s often the educator
that provides the missing link with knowledge to help entrepreneurs lead
a more rewarding life – a fact crucial to highlight in your
entrepreneurial studies programs.

This podcast features a series of audio clips from live presentations and interviews at NACCE conferences with Ron Thomas, NACCE Board Chair and President of Dakota County Technical College, Gina Rangel, 2011 winner of NACCE’s Student Essay Contest, Adam Stites, CEO of Xtremez,

In this podcast, we
explore how you can step up your programs and activities by learning more about
the needs of your community and by creating greater value for those you serve.

We interview John Harthorne, CEO of MassChallenge, a not-for-profit organization
focused on helping early stage high-tech entrepreneurs. It’s
the largest-ever startup accelerator, and the first to
support high-impact, early-stage entrepreneurs with no strings attached.
Benefits include a 3-month Accelerator Program, mentorship and training, free
office space, access to funding, media and more.

In just two and a half years Mass
Challenge has helped its startups raise more than $250 million from investors.
John Harthorne is part of the NACCE board of directors.
When
shaping entrepreneurship education programs, community college educators must
be sensitive to the unique needs and requirements of their local communities.
That often means putting greater emphasis on learning activities that may
differ from the priorities set by other college leaders. In this podcast we
interview Ruth Lewis, program director of Hillman Entrepreneurs at Prince
George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland about how they have focused on
local priorities and needs. We also speak with Robin Diamond, Program Director
for The Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF) about how her organization
is rolling out new curricula aimed at enhancing the offerings of community
colleges and helping students succeed at direct selling – a strategy every NACCE
member can use to strengthen economies locally. We also drop in on a live talk
given by former Hewlett Packard CEO, Carly Fiorina, who describes how, working
at a local small business, early on, impacted the course of her career.
