CHRISTOPHER DE LEON REIGNS LIKE A KING INSIDE THE CINEMA!

Philippine Cinema to this day acknowledges only one man whom everybody considers the Drama King. On July 14 at 8:30 pm, Cinema One’s Inside the Cinema host Boy Abunda sits down for an intimate tete-a-tete “one of the most brilliant actors in Philippine Cinema of all time,” Christopher de Leon.

After over 25 awards, nearly 100 movies and a host of notices from peers, professionals and working with wonderful and equally multi-awarded actresses and the best directors, it is fascinating to note that for over four decades, the man born Christopher Strauss de Leon in 1956 still reigns supreme with no heir apparent. Though it helps that he comes from a family of actors with parents Gil de Leon and Lilia Dizon, Pinky de Leon his sister, he instantly catapulted to lead star status in his debut film Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang (1974) and won his first Best Actor award in FAMAS. But a fascinating trivia that went along with the movie’s success was the sexy publicity shot: he was an 18 year old naked lad on the beach with only a branch covering his front. The picture where he combines mestizo good looks with roguish simpatico-ism, appeared in Women’s magazine drew great attention. Now at 53 and still youthfully attractive, the loving husband to seasoned actress Sandy Andolong engages in a revealing talk with host Abunda.

Only on Inside the Cinema will the multi-awarded actor be candid about who Boyet is onscreen and offscreen. Admitting his vanity, he divulges “I spend a long time in the bathroom…I take care of my skin,” and even admits an alternative career had he not been an actor “I could have been an artist or a painter because I draw a lot eh,” initially for why he took up Fine Arts at the UERM.

Noting that Banawe was his first movie with Aunor and where he fell for her, and reveals their Beachside Wedding “was my idea, because I wanted it to be solemn.” After their separation came the hit Tag-Ulan sa Tag-Araw , his first movie with Vilma where they also did strike an affair. While Ikaw ay Akin was where he had them both as leading ladies. Ultimately telling without any reservation how he choreographs his love scenes for he never wanted to take advantage of his leading ladies. But rousing laughter follows with his answer when Abunda asks who is the better kisser, Superstar or Star for All Seasons?

Simultaneously recalling and reminiscing the various roles and movies he was lucky to be directed by the most brilliant directors Boyet even reveals the scenarios, compromises, even disagreements he had with film-makers but becomes cerebral on describing them. Chito Roño is “technically good”. Ishmael Bernal “dynamic. He deals with the deep emotions of your character ”. Lino Brocka “he’s the actor’s director. He tells you where to look when you deliver a particular line” . Mike de Leon “helps you bring out the distinction of your character” . Olivia Lamasan is “wonderful and perfectionist” . Rory Quintos “likes the intensity” . Eddie Romero “is strict with his material” . Celso Ad Castillo “is the Messiah”.

Blessed with talent plus his fortune to successfully keep a name and good reputation in a fast and finicky industry, Christopher de Leon states the what he learned in his career gave him the wisdom an actor needs which gave him the balance and energy above all “ the dedication and discipline I give in my work to make things work”. Because it solves little problems like when a co-actor fails to give what’s required in a scene. He meets an agreement with a director on how to attack his character. Plus successfully discerns how to handle his love scenes “I choreograph them”.

I personally spoke with Mother Lily of Regal Films to explain why Angel Locsin cannot do "Mano Po 6." Angel would love to do a movie with Megastar Sharon Cuneta, but unfortunately, she could not accept the project because of her prior commitments and busy schedules. After doing the TV series "Only You," Angel will start shooting two movies---one with Aga Muhlach under the direction of Cathy Garcia- Molina and another with Director Chito Rono. Afterwhich, she will start taping for a new Teleserye.

Michael Jackson's Memorial is finally set

Despite of the delay for the memorial service of the King of Pop Michael Jackson because of the re-autopsy and the issue behind his sudden death, the funeral service is finally set this Tuesday morning (USA Time)at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

There are estimated 17,500 fans who were given tickets to join the event, but this time it will be different because the King of Pop, Michael Jackson if the fans is used seeing him performs, this time he will no longer do that. The event in Staples Center will be a day of tribute and remembering Michael Jackson's legacy and contribution to the world of music and to the world itself. Fellow artist includes Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Magic Johnson, Smokey Robinson and John Mayer are among the superstar guests confirms their participation in Michael Jackson Memorial on Tuesday.

ABS-CBN steps up its election advocacy campaign with a series of workshops on citizen journalism that will arm Filipinos with the knowledge and skills to report on events and incidents concerning the 2010 elections.

Hosted by ABS-CBN reporter Atom Araullo, the workshop is part of the network’s global election advocacy “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula," which was launched last May 11 to encourage Filipinos here and abroad to take a more active role in monitoring the scheduled elections.

More than 13,000 Filipinos have already signed up to become “Boto Patrollers.” Through “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Akong ang Simula,” ABS-CBN is asking Filipinos to register as voters and report as early as now election-related incidents using their mobile phones and the Internet.

ABS-CBN senior vice president for News and Current Affairs Maria Ressa will lead the speakers at the first leg of “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Patrollers Workshop on Citizen Journalism” on Thursday, July 9, at the KCC Mall Convention Center, General Santos City and on Friday, July 10, at the Holy Cross of Davao College Instructional Media Center in Davao City.

Registered “patrollers” from both cities will be attending the workshops. Interested individuals may register through text by keying in REG BMPM name/age/gender/address then sending to 2366 for Globe and Sun subscribers and 231 for Smart and Talk N’ Text subscribers, or online by logging in at www.abs-cbnnews.com.

They may also register manually in ABS-CBN stations in the Philippines and in the network’s global bureaus in San Francisco, Dubai, London, and Sydney.

Joining Ressa in the workshop are ABS-CBN newsgathering head Charie Villa and ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel) chief operating office Glenda M. Gloria. The three news executives have been journalists for more than two decades now, working for local and international news media companies before joining ABS-CBN. For nearly 20 years, Ressa was the bureau chief of CNN.

They will orient the “patrollers” on the fundamentals of citizen journalism—from shooting pictures or videos using cell phones or cameras, to writing captions and telling a story, to uploading their reports to the Internet. They will also be briefed on the electoral process and the ethics of journalism.

June 27, 2009, formally inilunsad ng Kaya ng Pinoy ang Balangay Voyage na kung saan ang pangunahing layunin ng project na ito ay ibahagi at buhayin ang kulturang Pinoy na kung saan nag ugat ang sistema ng gobyerno sa pamamagitan ng balangay o mas kilala na sa tawag na barangay, bukod dito ipinapakita rin ng project na ito kung gaano kayaman ang kultura ng Pilipinas at sa pamamaraang ito ay nais nilang ipaalala at ipakita ito sa mga makabagong Juan dela Cruz ng generation na ito. Sa Cultural center of the Philippines Harbor Area ginawa ang voyage o send off ng Balangay kasama ang mga supporters ng project na ito at mga members ng media. Ayon kay Valdez ay nawa'y matulungan sila ng media at mga supporters ng project na ito para ibahagi ang importansya ng pag alala ng kultura at kasaysayan sa mga kabataan.
Ang Balangay ay pinangalanang Diwata ng Lahi na kung saan nakasanayang pangalan ng babae ang itinatawag sa anumang uri ng shipping vessel. Ang Balangay o si Diwati ng lahi ay may sukat na 15 meters pahaba at 3 meter palapad. Ang mga gumawa ng balangay ay pawang mga galing pa sa Isla ng Sibuto sa Tawi Tawi. Habang ang pamamaraan naman ng paggawa ay katulad noong panahon pa ng mga ninuno natin sa Timog Silangang Asia na ang technique ng paggawa ay plank built, lashed lug, edge pegged and shell first construction.

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson was announced dead at 2:26 PM (Thursday) due to cardiac arrest.

Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Indiana and the 7th of the nine children. Jackson is part of the Jackson 5 where his other siblings was part of the group including Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon. His debut as a solo artist starts when he launches his first solo album last 1972, and on 1982 he released the song Thriller and became a smash hit on that generation. Aside from the success Michael Jackson faces series of scandals and issues that leads to widespread criticism.

Isang 49 years old na babae ang iniulat na unang fatality o namatay dahil sa sakit na Influenza A(H1N1) ayon sa Department of Health (DOH) at ito ay natagpuan sa Metro Manila, una sa Pilipinas at gayon din sa Asya. Ayon sa investigation na ini-report ng DOH, nagkaroon ng complication ang 49 years old na babae dahil na rin bukod sa A(H1N1) ay may sakit din ang babae sa puso, tubercolosis, at nagka-pnemonia rin siya dahil sa A(H1N1) pero ang resultang lumabas ang dahilan ng pagkamatay niya ay Atake sa Puso (Heart Attack).

Noong June 17 ay umuwing matamlay ang pasyente, habang the following day (June 18) ay nagkaroon na ng sintomas ng A(H1N1) ang 49 years old na babae at ito ay ubo, sipon at lagnat, at dito nag umpisa siyang mahirapang huminga at noong June 19 ay namatay na ang biktima. Matapos ang biglaang mamatay ay nagdesisyon ang mga kamag anak nito na-ipa-swab test ang biktima para malaman kung positibo ito sa A(H1N1) virus at noong June 20 ay nagpositibo ito sa sakit. At ngayon ay minomonitor na rin ng DOH ang 5 na taong nakasalamuha ng namatay.

Iniimbestigahan ngayong ng DOH kung paano nakuha ng biktima ang virus na ito lalo na't wala itong nakasalamuha ng A(H1N1) at hindi naman ito nagtravel mula sa ibang bansa. Pero sa kabila nito ay hindi na rin nagulat ang World Health Organizatio (WHO) sa balitang ito sa kadahilanang ayon kay Jill Hall, Team Leader Communicable and Surveillance Response ng WHO, ang mga taong may heart at lung condition ay mataas ang risk nito at posibleng mamatay sa oras na naging infected sila ng A(H1N1) virus. Ngayon ay minomonitor na rin ng DOH ang mga high risk group at kasama dito ang mga bata, buntis, matatanda, may sakit sa puso, baga, diabetes at iba pang sakit.

Ngayon mayroon nang 445 ang natalang nagkaroon ng A(H1N1) at 374 o 84% dito ay gumaling na. Ang babala ng DOH ngayon, ayon kay Yolanda Oliveros, Director, Natioan Epidemiology Center na may posibleng tumaas pa ang bilang ng magkakasakit bago tuluyang humina ang virus. Pero ang kinakatakutan ng ng mga experts ay ang posibleng second wave ng sakit na ito na maaring magbago ang epekto ng sakit na ito sa tao.

Sa mga school naman ay instead of full class suspension at nagdecide na magkaroon na lang ng selected suspension either class, department or building lang ang isususpend o mismong estudyante lang ang pauuwiin, habang ang mga nakasalamuha nito ay imomonitor naman ng DOH.

Para sa mga amang tumayo ring bilang mga ina sa mga anak nila dahil sa absense ng mga inang nagtratrabaho o dahil din sa pagiging single parent nila, hinahangan ko kayo!

Para sa mga inang naging AMA sa kanilang mga anak at tinanggap ang responsibilidad na ito sa pamilya, isang mataas na paggalang sa inyo!

Sa mga taong tinanggap ang responsibilidad na maging AMA ng lipunan at gobyernong sinasaklawan nila, institusyon, simbahan at komunidad, at sa mga taong tumayong mga ama sa iba't ibang sektor ng lipunan at maging ama sa mga taong nangangailangan nito, kapuri puri kayo sa paningin ko!

Ang pagiging ama ay hindi lang nakabase sa biological kundi sa pagtanggap ng responsibilidad nito, mapababae ka man o lalaki, sa pamilya man o komunidad, ang pagtayo bilang ama sa pinili mong bokasyon ay karapat dapat kang kilalaning DAKILANG AMA.

Last Sunday bilang parte ng kampanya ng ABS-CBN para 2010 Election campaign nila ay nagkaroong ng special documentary ang ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs para ibahagi ang mga opinyon at saloobin ng mga kabataan at mga kapwa Pinoy nating nasa social networks para ibahagi ang kanilang saloobin sa prosesong pagdadaanan ng nalalapit na election sa Pilipinas. At pinalad akong maging parte ng palabas na ito bilang representative ng Filipino Voices, isang samahan ng mga bloggers na kung saan ay may kani-kaniyang opinyon at pananaw para sa bansa at mga advocacy na nais iparating sa mga mambabasa nito. Bilang nangunguna sa section ng Advocacy ng Filipino Voices at isa ang maayos na election at panunungkulan ang isa sa pangangampanya ko ay ako ang tumayo at nanguna sa doucmentary na ito bilang representante ng aking grupo. Kasama ko sa interview ay si Mae Paner o mas kilala sa pangalang Juana Change na isa sa mga iniidolo ko ngayon na kung saan ginamit niya ang kanyang talento sa pag arte upang ibahagi ang kanyang advocacy at iyon ay ang maayos na gobyerno. Kasama rin si Zarlou Atienza isang video blogger na kung saan ginagamit niya ang kanyang talento sa pag eedit ng videos at graphics para ipahayag niya ang kanyang opinyon tungkol sa mga nangyayari sa mga pulitiko sa pamamaraan ng satire images and visuals sa blog niya. At si Vencer Crisostomo, Secretary General ng Kabataan Partylist ayon sa kanya may malaking impluwensya ang technology sa mga kabataan ngayon tulad sa nangyari ng EDSA Dos noon.

Iilan lang kaming naging parte ng kampanyang ito, maging parte ka rin ng kampanya para sa maayos na pamamahala at gobyerno. Tulad ng sinabi ko magiging parte ka ng kampanyang ito sa pamamagitan ng pagrehistro para sa election, ang mamulat sa issue ng lipunan, bumoto ng tama at magbantay sa bilangan hanggang may mahalal at patuloy tayong magbantay.

Aanhin mo ang puro pagbloblog ng nakakabuti kung mayroong masamang nangyayari magbubulagbulagan ka ba? Isa sa isyung haharapin natin ngayon sa 2010 ang apathy ng taong bayan ang hindi pagpapahalaga sa importansya ng pagboto, isa man ang boto mo pero ang isa mong boto ay maaaring makapagbago ng isang pamahalaan. Magparehistro, mamulat, bumoto at magbantay dahil ang bawat isa ay may responsibilidad sa bayan na dapat gawin.

ABS-CBN STATEMENT ON A (H1N1) Flu Cases

ABS-CBN has confirmed its first two cases of influenza A (H1N1) flu virus. Both employees are already safe and recovering. Company officials have been closely coordinating with the Department of Health on the cases and have also conducted contact tracing to check on the health conditions of the people who may have been exposed to the two individuals.

ABS-CBN has implemented preventive measures internally and waged intensive information campaign that will help its employees guard against the flu virus. The company has conducted face-to-face briefings, released regular H1N1 flu advisory updates, installed hand sanitizers at key points, offered regular flu vaccination for employees and their dependents, and conducted random body temperature checking of studio audiences and visitors entering the ABS-CBN vicinity. The ABS-CBN compound was also disinfected over the weekend.

The network will continue its normal operations and will continue to promote safety and vigilance against the A (H1N1) virus

Last June 2 2009, Stairway Foundation and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) officially launched the animation entitled Red Leaves Falling, an animation film drama on child pornography and child sex trafficking, and the main reason of this campaign is to pressure the Philippine congress to enact the anti child pornagraphy bill to end the crime against child welfare.

Nakikita natin ang problemang ito sa telebisyon, naririnig natin sa radio, nababasa natin sa newspaper at internet pero kung talamak na ang suliraning ito bakit tahimik pa rin tayo at nanonood lang? Ang usapin ng Child Pornography ay hindi in-sync sa issue ng kahirapan dahil hindi laruan o kapiraso ng karne ang mga musmos na kabataan para ibenta at babuyin ninunam, at hindi kainlan man sagot ang prostitution para mapunan ang kahirapan at kumakalam na sikmura, hindi rin ito masasabing subsitute kaysa sa magnakaw at pumatay, dahil kahit anong angulo nito ito ay mali at ito ay isang krimeng dapat panagutan.

Sa pamamaraan ng Stairway Foundation ay ibinahagi nila ang issue ng child pornography sa pamamaraang madaling matutunan kahit ng mga kabataan, at ito ay sa pamamaraan ng animation at maayos na paglalahad ng issue na kung saan hindi kailangan ng mabibigat na detalye at mga scenario. Ayon kay Vanessa Tobin ng UNICEF na ang problemang ito ay mas lumalala pa dahil na rin sa kakulangan ng batas na susuporta at magtatanggol sa mga kabataang biktima nito. With UNICEF and Stairway Foundation's campaign which is Silence is Acceptance: Stop Child Pornography, it encourages ud to break from silence and act against child pornography hanggang hindi pa rin napapasa ang batas kontra sa krimeng ito.

In their toolkit that UNICEF and Stairway Foundation sells that only cost 500 pesos that will be big help in their fund raising for their awareness campaign and shelter and food for those who were rescued, contains 3 animation videos, 3 comic versions and 3 guides on the 3 cases that covers child pornography and child sex trafficking; Red Leaves Falling: A Story of Child Pornography and Child Sex Trafficking, A Good Boy: A Story of Pedophilia, and Daughter: A story of Incest. Three stories of abuse that is rampant in the society yet we remain silent on this issue. Last June 9 at the Spotlight Bar in Makati, Asian Food Channel (AFC) officially launched their new show that will give their viewers the taste and the feel of what Spain offers to those who wants to visit the country. The 13 episode entitled Spain on the Road Again serves as a mini tour documentary type of Spain’s tourist destination the foods, restaurants, resorts and parks that travelers would love to visit. I'm sure some of the readers of this blog is asking bakit nasa TV 5 ako at nasa Who Wants To Be a Millionaire set, well kasalanan ito ng kaibigan kong si Myk Cruz ng Mykapalaran.blogspot.com and it happens to be working at TV 5. To be honest I love the show since it started sa IBC 13 pa where Boyet de Leon ang host nito at back to back siya ng The Weakest Link na kung saan si Edu Manzano naman ang host.

This time si Vic Sotto naman na ang host ng Who Wants to be a Millionaire na nag-aair ngayon sa TV 5 every Saturday 6pm. Lalo kong nagustuhan ang show na ito after seeing the movie Slumdog Millionaire na Oscars Best Picture na ang TV 5 din ang nag special screening kasama ang mga ibang bloggers na friends ko pero di ako nakasama that time dahil busy na ako at lss na rin sa Jai Ho both the Indian version and the Pussy Cat Doll's version.

Vic Sotto clears the issue that hindi siya completely under ng GMA 7 kaya walang nangyaring issue in terms of pagkuha niya ng project sa TV 5 where as siya lang at si Ms. Malou Choa Fagar ang kinausap ng TV 5 sa project na ito, and he mention that he is excited sa project na ito dahil siya mismo naging avid fan din ng show na ito at napapanood niya sa youtube ang mga iba pang mga versions ng show na ito sa ibang bansa na bumili ng Who Wants to be a Millionare franchised from Sony Pictures Television International.
