Psychologists have estimated that an average we have as many as 60,000 thoughts per day.More importantly ,95-98% of these thoughts at physical brain level is releasing a shower of chemicals. Neuro scientists estimate that a human brain contains 100 billion neurons (billion=100crores).Each neuron has 1,000 connections.Each connections fires on an average of 200 times per second resulting in 20,000 trillion (1.Trillion=1 followed by 18 zero's) calculations per second And all this consumes lots of life energy. Even if we can reduce the number of thoughts by a small percentage,it can have a huge bearing on our life.Meditating or practicing silence for a few minutes every day gives you the power of that conserved energy.

My comments :

As said by Siddars and Sages of India, the lesser we breathe the more we live. We breathe more when we think more and we breathe less when we think less. So our thoughts are directly related to our life, that is why a tortoise lives longer life when compared to other living beings. Siddars prove that the state when there are no thoughts (called summa iru) is the state where we unite with god and that is the state where we forget our self. Hinduism is purely a science and accepts any god based on one's own wish. Finally Hinduism opens the doors for Self realization which is the ultimate goal of Man kind. Siddars and Sages have foretold the way to Self realize long before and I am happy that the western world is realizing the truth behind it.

Change your Belief and Rewrite the Chemistry of your Body

A shift in consciousness creates a shift in biology. We are consciousness evolving back to Source. Charles Darwin, a great scientist and geneticist had proposed that all species evolve via a process of survival of the fittest. This process was also called natural selection.

His contemporary, a scientist named Lamarck was widely ignored at the time. Lamarck had proposed an opposing theory - that humans evolve via traits and belief systems which are passed on to the offspring. According to Lamarckian genetics, a human being can aquire traits within a lifetime and pass them on to future generations.

One scientist who has become famous worldwide in recent times is, Dr. Bruce Lipton. He has reintroduced Lamarckian genetics to the world in recent years. As per the latest research, our biology and even our genetic makeup is a function of belief systems held and passed on over lifetimes.

It appears that new research in genetics, called 'epigenetics', shows how genes can express themselves uniquely, or be activated or de-activated via surface proteins, depending upon our belief systems. Bruce Lipton is even reputed to be the rebirth of Lamarck in this time. It is true that souls continue their work from lifetime to lifetime, especially work which was left somehow incomplete.

In Sanskrit as per the ancient wisdom of India, limiting belief systems may be referred to as Sanskaras - shadows which we caste upon the light of our own soul. Limiting or erroneous belief systems cause illness, pain, and suffering. Soul coaching, therapy, hypnosis, and guided meditation are methods of unwinding these beliefs and returning back to our natural state of health and well being.

A Cute Puppy Dog

Today I was driving my bike to my office and as of sudden on the middle of the road , I saw a cute puppy dog which just died a few minutes back. On looking at the Puppy, I just found that it didn't die because of accident but died because of hunger :( and knowing this I just felt like crying. So, I just dragged the puppy's body to a empty land, so that some one can bury it and also to avoid any further damage as the road was always busy with cars and bikes.

No one was ever caring about this puppy and every one was walking, driving as if they were so busy. What a SELFISH and SELF CENTERED world we are living in?.

Om Prakash Yadav is 11 year old Child and a Class VII student from Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of a Uttar Pradesh farmer, who pulled out several of his friends alive out of a burning van, caring little about his own safety. He is one of the National Bravery Award Winner 2011. He is the winner of Sanjay Chopra Award for saving children out of a burning van.

He saved eight of his schoolmates from a burning bus. The scars on his face bear an account of his burned injuries but did not in the least curb his spirit and he seems ready to enact his heroism again in saving his friends.

On September 4, 2010, he was going to school along with other students in a Maruti van. But all of a sudden, the van caught fire because of a short circuit in the gas kit. The driver immediately opened his door and fled, fearing that the gas kit could explode any time. But not Yadav. He broke open the van door and pulled out the others, caring little about the flames that had spread to his face, back and arms. “I could feel fire burn my body but then I could hear the cries of my friends who were still caught inside the van. I threw my bag and entered to pull them out,” he says. We also asked if him would he put his life in danger once again if caught in a similar situation? 'Everytime,' he says.

Hare Krishna. I thought you might like to know a little bit of the untold side of Nelson Mandela.

He came several times to ISKCON's Ratha Yatra in
South Africa while he was president of the nation. The first time Bhakti Tirtha Swami met him, in the course of their conversation, Maharaja quoted a Gita verse. Half-way thru the verse, Mandela quoted the rest of it. BT Swami
was surprised.

He asked "You know the Gita?" Mandela said "Try me." Every
Gita verse Bhakti Tirtha Maharaja knew, Nelson knew as well. Naturally, BT Swami asked "How is this?" Nelson Mandela explained that he was imprisoned on Robbins Island along with some of his fellow leaders of their political party, the ANC. One of them was an Indian-bodied lawyer. The South African government tried to break them by giving them mindless labor and routine.

Realizing that they needed to keep their minds actively engaged, the Indian lawyer taught Nelson Mandela Gita verses which they quoted and discussed back and forth to transcend their daily drudgery.
Nelson Mandela told BhaktiTirtha Maharaja that learning the Gita helped keep him sane and did much to infuse his view of the world and his strategies for bringing independence and a better future for the South African people.

Bhakti Chaitanya Maharaja, the GBC for South Africa adds: "When Mr. Mandela visited our temple the first time (he came several times thereafter as well) he, with dignity and humility bowed before Srila Prabhupada, and then asked (me) "How did he do it?", meaning how did Srila Prabhupada spread Krishna consciousness all over the world. We then had a brief discussion about how Srila Prabhupada gave Krishna consciousness to all nationalities and types of people, without discrimination, and Mr Mandela was deeply struck by this, and was very appreciative of Srila Prabhupada."

The Conquest of Naraka

Let us all firstly understand, the real essence of Diwali Celebration . Lord Narayana killed the demon Naraka. But really Naraka is the ego that parades itself by taking the hellish body to be ‘I’. Hence, those who enquire into the source of this Naraka and destroy him are indeed Narayana, the killer of Naraka.

'Naraka' is both the term for the hell realm and the name of the asura who was slain by Krishna, the avatar of Lord Narayana. The festival of Deepavali celebrates the victory of Narayana over Naraka'. One of the key events of this celebration is a ritual bath that is taken at an auspicious time.

Taken on Naraka Chaturdasi, the auspicious bath that symbolizes the conquest of Naraka is actually bathing in the waters of true knowledge after killing Naraka, the ego, by tracking him down to his place of residence.

Sri Ramana Maharishi: Naraka is he who rules the world of Hell by taking the hellish body to be 'I'. Hence, he who slays Naraka with the discus of jnana by enquiring from where does this Naraka arise?' is Lord Narayana Himself. That day indeed is the auspicious Naraka Chaturdasi day.

Know clearly that Naraka is the one who is condemned to ruin through taking as ‘I’ the foul mass of flesh, the hell that is the body, whilst Deepavali is the eternal radiance of the Supreme Self that shines after Naraka, the reflection, has been destroyed following the enquiry into his nature.

Sri Ramana Maharishi: Clearly know that the auspicious day of Deepavali denotes shining as the Self by seeking and
destroying the great sinner Naraka, who ruined himself by regarding as ‘I' the prison of the body, the source of misery that truly is Hell.

Let this Diwali remove all our ego and let us surrender to almighty for peace with in :)

17th-century astronomers Giovanni Cassini and Jean Richer pegged the distance from the Earth to the sun as 40 million kilometers. just nine million kilometers off from the now-official figure. They calculated the astronomical unit by using observations of Mars from two different spots on Earth, then used the difference between those two observations to calculate our distance from Mars, which they then used to determine our distance from the sun.

But our ancient Indian Astronomers have calculated this distance accurately long before them. The diameter of the sun multiplied by 108 gives this distance. The number 108 gets its importance in Hinduism from this calculation.

Shehla Masood

Shehla Masood was an Indian environmentalist, wildlife and RTI activist. She was shot dead around 11:19 AM on August 16, 2011 by three persons who were hired by a local woman interior designer in front of her house in Bhopal while she was sitting in her car and was about to leave.Masood was constantly living under threat, as revealed by her in an interview before she was shot dead. Shehla Masood was aged 38 years old, unmarried, born into a Muslim family.

Masood was an activist working primarily on wildlife conservation, and also supported other causes like good governance, RTI Act, Police reforms, environment, women's rights & issues and transparency. She sat on a fast in support of Anna Hazare's India Against Corruption campaign. She was actively involved in raising issues related to the deaths of tigers in the various sanctuaries of Madhya Pradesh. Shehla herself was working for the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Trust, organizing events for them from Srinagar to Kolkata to Delhi. She was about to leave for Boat Club in Bhopal to join the anti-government protest to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill when she was killed.She co-founded RTI Anonymous, a service for whistle blowers for filing anonymous Right to Information (RTI) Applications with Indian Government departments without getting victimized, with her friends just a few days before her death. Shehla Masood was posthumously awarded the award for her relentless effort under the category, 'Crusade Against Corruption'.

RTI activists are harassed and sometimes killed by corrupt officials protecting their own interests. In 2010 alone at least ten Right to Information activists were killed. Several of them, like Masood, were also environmental activists against illegal mining and the poaching of tigers. Indian police claim “vested interests” connected to these businesses are responsible for Masood’s murder.

How to realize the SELF ?

Questioner: How to realize the SELF ?

Sri Bhagavan : Everyone has experience of the SELF every moment of his life.

Questioner: But, the SELF is not realized as one would like.

Sri Bhagavan : Yes. The present experience is viparita (different from real). What is not is confounded with what is.

Questioner: How to find the Atman (SELF) ?

Sri Bhagavan : There is no investigation into the Atman. The investigation can only be into the non-self. Elimination of the non-self is alone possible. The SELF being always
self evident, will shine forth of itself.

The SELF is called by different names -Atman, God, Kundalini, Mantra, etc. Hold any one of them and the SELF becomes manifest. God is no other than the SELF Kundalini is now showing forth as the mind. When the mind is traced to its source it is Kundalini. Mantra japa leads to elimination of other thoughts and to concentration on the mantra. The mantra finally merges into the SELF and shines forth as the SELF.

Questioner: How long is a Guru necessary for Self-Realization ?

Sri Bhagavan : Guru is necessary so long as there is the laghu (Pun on Guru = heavy ; laghu = light ).

Laghu is due to the self-imposed but wrong limitation of the SELF God, on being worshiped bestows steadiness in devotion, which leads to surrender. On the devotee surrendering, God shows His mercy by manifesting as the Guru The Guru, otherwise God, guides the devotee, saying that God is in you and He is the SELF. This leads to introversion of the mind and finally to Realization.

Effort is necessary up to the state of Realization Even then the SELF should spontaneously become evident. Otherwise, happiness will not be complete. Up to that state of spontaneity, there must be effort in some form or another.

Questioner: Our work-a-day life is not compatible with such efforts.

Sri Bhagavan : Why do you think that you are active ? Take the gross example of
your arrival here. You left home in a cart, took train, alighted at the Railway Station here, got into a cart there and found yourself in this Ashram. When asked, you say that you traveled here all the way from your town. Is it true ? It is not a fact. You remained as you were and there were movements of conveyances, all along the way. Just as those movements are confounded with your own, so also the other activities. They are not your own. They are God's activities.

Questioner: Such idea will lead to blankness of mind and the work will not progress well.

Sri Bhagavan : Go up to that blankness and tell me afterwards.

Questioner: They say that a visit to Sages helps Self-Realization ?

Sri Bhagavan : Yes. So it does.

Questioner: Will not my present visit to you bring it about ?

Sri Bhagavan : (After a short pause)

What is to be brought about ? To whom ?
Consider ; investigate.
To whom is this doubt ? If the source is traced
the doubt will disappear.
