How to lose weight fast

2012-04-28T10:34:00.000-07:00

How to lose weight fast

I hope I’ve managed to convince you that a low-carb diet is the best approach on how to lose weight fast.

Really, who would want to be hungry and obsess about calories and portions all the time? That’s no way to live, and it shouldn’t be necessary.

The only thing you need to restrict when eating low-carb is carbohydrates, and I usually recommend staying at 100-150 grams per day for steady weight loss and effective weight maintenance.

However, this article is about how to lose weight fast, so in that case I recommend less than a 100 grams per day. If you want to lose weight even faster than that, you can go under 50 grams of carbs per day, temporarily.

This means that all sources of added sugar need to be eliminated. All grains need to go as well (even the “healthy whole grains”), as well as most starchy vegetables like potatoes.

Even fruit should be minimized and restricted to low-carb berries. If you really must have fruit, then don’t eat any more than 1-2 pieces per day.

Take a look at this article on the four worst foods to eat when losing weight, but these also include seed oils and trans fats which should be minimized for the sake of optimal health.

All these bad foods should be replaced with foods that are rich in healthy proteins and fat.

This includes animal foods such as meat, fish and eggs. It also includes nuts (in moderation), some high-fat dairy, fats and oils, as well as all the low-carb vegetables you desire. It is critical to eat foods that are as little processed as possible.

Here’s more info on the best healthy foods to eat to lose weight.

To sum up, the food selection for how to lose weight fast involves not eating sugar, grains, seed oils or trans fats, and replacing them with meat, fish, eggs, nuts, high-fat dairy, fats and oils, some berries and low-carb vegetables.

In case you’re not convinced that low-carb is best for weight loss and you’d prefer to do the calorie restriction approach, then you should check out this article on the amount of calories to lose weight.

Best Fat Burning Exercise – High Intensity Interval Training

Of course, exercise can help with weight loss too, and there is one method that is particularly effective to lose weight fast and it is called High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

This involves short periods of working out at a high intensity, such as sprinting outside, with moments of low-intensity such as walking in between.

For example, sprinting for 15 seconds and then walking for 60 seconds, then repeating several times. These workouts don’t need to take long, 20 minutes can be more than enough.

This really is the most effective training method to burn fat quickly and can be done outside, as well as in the gym, on a treadmill or stationary bike.

High intensity interval training increases human growth hormone release (a fat burning hormone) for up to 24 hours after a workout, and the body keeps on burning fat for a long time after the workout is complete.

Some sports, such as Crossfit, automatically incorporate some form of high intensity intervals.

I also recommend a few strength training sessions per week, this can help to lose weight because muscle burns a lot more calories than fat.

But of course we don’t just want to lose a bunch of fat, we want to be sure that what is underneath looks good, and weight lifting is critical for that.

Get good sleep and proper rest

There are two other major factors when it comes to health, and these also matter during weight loss.

One of them is sleep. Good sleep is critical for general health and mental well-being, and you are much more likely to succeed with any weight loss plan by making sure you get proper rest.

The other major factor is stress, which is critical for both physical and mental health.

Inadequate sleep and excess stress can contribute to weight gain due to their effects on the hormones in the body. Therefore these factors need to be addressed when losing weight.

Supplements that can help to lose weight

Don’t worry, I am not going to try to sell you any supplements here.

I don’t believe in weight loss supplements, but there are a few essential micronutrients that can indirectly help with weight loss, and these are all substances you have heard of before.

Omega-3 fatty acids. It is believed that Omega-3 fats can help with weight loss. They may not make a massive difference but they should help a little bit, not to mention that they are good for your health. I recommend taking a fish oil supplement that contains EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids.
Vitamin D3. Obesity has been associated with lowered blood levels of Vitamin D, and therefore I recommend supplementing with this vitamin. It also happens to be the easiest thing you can do to improve your health, and it drastically reduces chances of heart disease and cancer.
Iodine. If you don’t eat a lot of sea food then I recommend an iodine supplement. I don’t recommend large doses but getting a small amount of natural iodine from seaweed is great. A seaweed known as Kelp is your best option here.
Multivitamin. It is important to address all possible nutritional deficiencies and especially when following a restricted diet. This may help prevent mysterious food cravings.
Chromium Picolinate. This one works very well for some people, especially for people with atypical depression. This supplement may reduce carbohydrate cravings.
Vitamin K2 and Magnesium. These supplements, Vitamin K2 and Magnesium, aren’t really going to help with weight loss, but they are very important for optimal health and wellness and therefore I recommend them too.
Green Tea. Drinking a few cups of green tea can actually help to lose weight fast, because it increases fat burning in the body.

Taking these supplements is not at all necessary because diet and carb restriction are the most important factors. But they can help a little bit, and may greatly improve general health.

Other tricks to lose weight fast

There are a lot of other tips and tricks out there on how to lose weight fast.

One is intermittent fasting, which can be very effective for people who have reached a weight loss plateau and need something to start losing weight again.

Drinking more water may help, such as having a glass of water before each meal to reduce appetite.

I also recommend minimizing snacks. People tend to eat when they’re bored, and this is very detrimental to weight loss. Eat only when hungry and minimize snacks between meals.

Cheat meals definitely need to be mentioned and having large cheat meals (or cheat days) every week can prevent weight loss, depending on how much is eaten.

Personally I am against unhealthy cheat meals (such as eating tons of food loaded with sugar and trans fat), but having a day every week where you eat some more healthy carbs is fine.

Conclusion

This article should give you some useful pointers on how to lose weight fast.

It is important to remember that eating a low-carb diet is the easiest, most effective and healthiest method to lose weight. The science proves it.

Those who have a lot of weight to lose should see fast results by following this approach.

P.S. I don’t really like to promote other peoples products on my website, but for this one I will make an exception. It is called The Diet Solution Program, and they are offering a pretty sweet package for anyone who wants a complete solution to their eating plan.

It is a book, along with tons of bonuses, such as a complete day-to-day eating plan, recipes and many more. I recommend you at least take a look at their free video, they are giving away a lot of free information that fits with what I say here on this blog. Make sure to watch until the end.

Home Improvements On A Budget

2012-04-19T06:24:00.003-07:00

Home renovations can be an excruciating exercise in emptying the bank account. If you’ve been delaying action due to the fear of potentially soaring costs of improving your home’s appearance, then take a little glance at some of our budgeting tips. These ideas should help keep you out of the financial red zone…

Firstly, consider the kitchen. An attractive kitchen is one of the things a person notices and remembers about a home. Try picking up new doors and hardware, and maybe a can of wood stain or paint instead of spending large amounts of cash replacing cabinets and surfaces. Old cabinets can be freshened up with a brush and screwdriver in an afternoon for a lot less than a complete overhaul. Similar tricks work for appliances that feature removable plates. New plates can be ordered in different colours or materials. Some may even be reversible already, so if you want to remodel a white kitchen darker you only need to loosen a few screws.

Flooring is normally the realm of experts, but kits exist that are installed over existing floors. Eliminating worn out floors by doing the work yourself can save several hundred dollars. If your carpet is looking used but you can’t afford to lay new carpeting, rent a shampooer and purchase the cleaning agents for it. Using it in a high traffic room can put new life into it and put off replacement. Also, think about cheaper materials. Using slightly cheaper materials for flooring can make a big difference in your overall expenses.

Bring in family and friends to help out with renovations and thus reduce any associated labour costs with hiring tradesmen. This brings us to our next point as it isn’t always possible to do all renovations on your own or with relatives and so it’s important when dealing with professionals to avoid excess payments.

Don’t get overcharged. For any professional you hire, you should have a detailed account of the work they will do and the estimated costs in writing before they begin.

Don’t rush the changes. If you are already pushing your budget, identify the aspects of your home improvement plan that can be put off for another time. For example, you could wire your home for in-wall speakers but purchase the speakers and equipment at a later date.

Avoid outward expansions. Try to work within your existing walls and roof, as expanding outward can be costly. Think about remodelling existing rooms instead of adding more.

If you don’t have enough space for a proper garden behind your home, consider flower boxes. Installing them underneath a window is easy and having small flowers growing inside makes a home warmer. If you enjoy cooking you can install one near the kitchen as a boxed herb garden.

All of these simple little things are excellent ways to update the look and feel of your home without breaking the bank.

10 Tips for Used Car Shopping

2012-04-12T15:24:00.000-07:00

10 Tips for Used Car Shopping

1.Used car shopping can be a tricky process, but there are several things you can do to make the experience easier. Whether you're looking to buy a car immediately, or just starting your search, these 10 tips will help you get the most for your money and find the car that works for your budget.

2.Create a list of cars that you are potentially interested in buying. What cars do you admire on the road? Do you like any of your friends' cars? If so, ask them what they like and dislike about their vehicles. Be sure to look at the year, model and make of the cars you like. Don’t forget to think about what you and your family needs -- two, four or six seats. You'll also need to consider your gas mileage. Fortunately there are many used hybrids on the market.

3.Before buying a car it is important to sit down and figure out what you can afford. With high gas prices, you must factor in the miles per gallon (MPG) for the cars on your list in relation to how much you'll be driving. If you plan to finance the car, look into payment plans that will fit your budget. Calculate the cost of the car, interest rate and gas for each month before making a final decision. This is also the time to figure out if you want to own or lease a car.

4.Once you've nailed down your price range and a few car models you want to buy, research potential problems the cars could have and the current market price. Check the Kelley Blue Book price and visit a few auto retailer websites to find the fair price for the car you wish to purchase. Remember, older models are cheaper, but they will also require more maintenance.

5.Although many dealerships also sell used cars, there are many other resources you can use when purchasing a pre-owned car. If you want to buy from a private seller Craigslist.org and AutoTrader.com are helpful when you're looking for a deal. Other places like Carmax have a variety of cars and some helpful reports. Sites like Edmunds.com can help you find car dealers near you with the make and models you seek.

6.Researching used cars online is easy, but you can get distracted at the lot when you see all of your options in front of you. While that cool convertible may be an amazing deal, if it isn't practical for your lifestyle or price range, you should stick to the plan. If you're shopping at a dealership you'll also have to keep the dealer focused. Don't let him or her try to entice you beyond what you requested, there are many car lots out there, you don't have to shop in a high pressure sales environment.

7.When you're car shopping, inspect the car carefully. Thoroughly examine the exterior and interior of the vehicle. When speaking with a seller, ask detailed questions like: “Why are you selling the car?” “Have you ever been in an accident?” and “Have you ever experienced problems with the car?” If you're at a dealership ask about the car history and any flaws you see. If you find a car you like, take it for a test drive with the windows up and the radio off to listen for odd noises or squeaking. Test all features before you're done.

8.After you test drive the car, whether you're shopping from a public or private seller -- be sure to ask for a history and safety report. If the seller does not have access to these, do not purchase the car.

9.Ask the seller if they are willing to let you have a mechanic of your choice (one that you trust), check out the car and find any potential problems. If the seller refuses – do not purchase the car. Most car dealerships have mechanics on staff and they provide guarantees on their automotive work. Be sure to get a one-year warranty if you purchase your used car from a dealership.

10.After finding a car in your price range, looking at both public and private sellers, inspecting the car, taking some test drives, reviewing a history and safety report, and talking to your mechanic -- it is the time to negotiate a purchase price on the car. Never simply agree to the asking price, there is always a deal to be made. Be prepared by bringing your research and being assertive about how much you want to pay. Many auto websites recommend finding financing before you negotiate a price that way, you do not have to deal with unexpected interest rates dealers.

2011 Black Friday on Thursday

2011-11-28T06:15:00.002-08:00

2011 Black Friday on Thursday ...

Macy’s Inc. says it will open all of its namesake stores at midnight on the day after Thanksgiving for the first time. It becomes the latest retailer to extend hours on Black Friday, the traditional kickoff to the holiday season.

More than 800 Macy’s stores will stay open for 23 hours and close at 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. That compares with last year when Macy’s opened eight stores at midnight while the rest opened at 4 a.m.

Martine Reardon, Macy’s executive vice president of marketing, said the midnight openings are a response to customers’ requests.

“People want to shop through the night,” Reardon said.

In recent years, retailers have expanded their Black Friday hours and rolled out sales for the day weeks in advance. That’s in contrast to a few years ago when stores kept their discounts and hours secret until a few days before the Thanksgiving weekend. Retailers are responding to shoppers who like to map out their bargain-hunting strategies early.

Last year, Sears and Kmart stores opened Thanksgiving morning for the first time. Toys R Us stores opened at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Many Gap Inc. stores also were open. And Wal-Mart opened most of its stores by midnight that evening.

Target Corp. became one of the first retailers to announce its Black Friday hours this year. The discounter said on Friday that it would open its doors at midnight for the first time ever and offer Black Friday specials at that time. Like Macy’s, it plans to stay open 23 hours. More merchants are expected to announce their hours and deals for the Thanksgiving weekend in the next week or so.

GIRLS HAIR STYLES 2011

2011-09-16T14:49:00.000-07:00

Hairstyles for preteens are usually a little more advanced than their grade school counterparts, but not quite as complicated as those of the high school set. Also, many girls in this age bracket may still need a little help achieving the ideal style, and will need something comparatively simple to maintain. Of course, these attributes will help mom, too!

A staple of elementary school hair is the side part. To add some flair to this style, simply divide the side part into three sections. These sections do not have to be equal. Secure each section back in a slightly imbrication fashion with butterfly clips. This will give the part a messy, yet secure, look.

Another simple and easy look, which works well with bangs, is to pull the hair into loose pigtails at the base of the neck. These pigtails should be located toward the back instead of the side. Then, place a sparkly or fabric covered headband on top for a fun splash of color. Even if some shorter hair works its way free from the loose pigtails, the headband will keep the hair back from the face, adding to the carefree look.

If a girl is looking for something a little sleeker but still fun, the braided ponytail is a good option. For this style girls with curly hair may want to straighten their hair first, to make the hair easier to braid. This style can work with a side part or a middle part, depending on your preference. On one side, begin to braid your hair in small sections, start at the part and continuing down the length of the hair. Do the same on the other side as well. It power be necessary to secure the first braid with a ponytail holder or clip while braid the other side. If doing a middle part, pull the remaining hair into a low ponytail astatine the back of your head, toward the nape of the neck. If doing a side part, pull hair into a side ponytail on the same side of your largest part, again keeping low to the neck. Secure with a ponytail holder, sooner one that matches your hair color.

Finally, at this age many girls may decide that they are done with long hair and want to choose for a short hairstyle. This by no means limits the options for a variety of hairstyles. With short hairstyles, hair products will be key in styling. Using a strong pomade can allow girls to have a spiky, punk style. Pommade should be used on dry hair, allowing for a “sculpted effect,” molding the shape of the style.

Curly hair can also work well with short hair, and a good hair gel for curly hair should be used. This should be applied on damp hair while scrunching the curls with your fingertips. Hair bands, which resemble large ponytail holders, can work to add an element of style to short, curly hair. A girl can use one of these, placed toward the forehead, to give the illusion of bangs, or can use multiple hair bands, even dissimilar colors, moving in gaps toward the back of the head to add dimension. Good luck and have fun!

How to trade in Forex

2011-09-14T11:30:00.000-07:00

I have been a trader for quite a long while, and i have learnt much from my experience, until recently : Experience as everywhere in life and in all fields, teaches us not to repeat the same mistakes, instead we are taught how to be more successful, and get things better for us each time. For Forex, this cannot just be ''each time'' it would be ''any time''!

I remember it was Tuesday,, end of July of 2010, when it had been just a few weeks since my first day of experience on Forex..I was actually doing on that day,the transaction of EUR/USD (''buy''/''sell''), which I still find too profitable many times..So I saw that for one second I was earning while the next few seconds I was losing, then I lost about Eur 20.00 in a few clicks, but insisted on doing this, but in vain : I was losing, and being afraid some moment of losing even my invested funds- I withdrew all my funds by closing the table at that moment..To my surprise I saw, that I had lost nothing since all funds invested until then returned to me! So, if you se losing some moment, then, just withdraw your funds by ''closing'' the relative transaction, and get back at another moment, when things will be more favorable for you!..

Indeed, after three days, when I got back and invested this same money in another transaction I saw I was earning continously, till I stopped the transaction myself, as not being able to ''bear earning anymore'', if you can believe this..So, get best transactions, by discovering them each time, and focus on best rates..My profits on that day, got Eur 80.00 net profit, within 15 minutes..Will you try?..It may be your turn this time!
