My MetroDeal Experience

Group buying sites have mushroomed all over the internet in the last two years. The logic behind it is simple: Everything is cheaper by the BULK or WHOLESALE. This is not a new concept at all, especially to shopping-savvy people who frequent divisoria, baclaran or quiapo for those thrifty-finds. So today, what with the market continuing to be very tight and competitive, because people who labor for their keep find it hard to let go of their hard-earned moolah on something that they couldn't get the best price of. Thus, the group buying sites!

Today, I just made another purchase in one of the more famous and trusted group-buying site, MetroDeal.

It was a very easy experience.

Once I've selected the deal I want to purchase, which in this case is a 60-min full body massage plus a 30-min foot massage for only Php199. (Quite a steal, eh?) :D

I was directed to the page which showed me my payment options....

MetroDeal offers a very flexible payment scheme. You can opt for bank deposits, bank to bank transfer, credit card charging, paypal, and my personal favorite, GCash.

If you picked GCash as a mode of payment, you will be directed to the page below, where you can enter your GCash number. I love how the set this up because paying thru GCash was made even more convenient. No need to type in the recipient's number and risk sending your payment to the wrong number, because this way, your payment is automatically deducted from your GCash fund.

You'll notice that there's an explicit instruction below that you have to fill-up the cellphone number field within 5 minutes. So, if you're not decided yet, or haven't the cashed-in some amount to your Gcash Fund, better find another mode of payment for you.

I didn't know this at first, so I keyed in my GCash number, stupid me. The next page informed me that I have no sufficient funds to complete the payment. Yes, 'teh, they were that fast in confirming! :D

But after transfering funds into my GCash account, this is next page I saw....

After awhile, I received a text message from Mozcom (the third party MetroDeal commissioned to collect payments), informing me that they will be deducting Php398, my bill for 2 vouchers, and that I need to reply with my MPIN so that the transaction will be validated.

And after less than 3 minutes, my account already reflected the deals that I bought! It took me all of 10 minutes (funding my Gcash and browsing the deals excluded) to complete a transaction. It was pretty quick!

Itago niyo na lamang ako sa pangalang Gossip Girl, hindi dahil kasing ganda ko si Blake Lively o si Blair Waldorf, kundi dahil siguradong itatatwa ako ng aking kaibigan sa pagkakanulo ko sa kanilang kwento alang-alang sa premyo.

Naisip ko din namang sariling kwento ko ang ilagay ko dahil hindi naman ako kapos sa ganitong klase din ng mga kwento bilang tao.

Pero sa tingin ko'y mas mag-eenjoy kayo dito.

Nagsimula ang lahat sa isang nilalanggam-sa-tamis na kasalan.

Kung saan imbitado ang mga pamilya, ilang katrabaho at ang pinakamalalapit na kaibigan, kabilang Si Ginoong X.

Magkaututang-dila si Ginoong X at ang bride na tawagin nating Mrs. Y. Matagal na rin silang hindi nagkikita kaya naman chika-to-the-max ang dalawa.

Subalit dahil si Ginoong X ay isang tao na laging paroo’t parito dahil sa trabaho, kailangan na rin niya umalis nang maagang-maaga kinabukasan. At ito ang isang salik na lalong nagpaigting sa kanyang pagnanais na chumika at bigyan ng kasiyahan si Mrs. Y sa pinakamasayang araw sa buhay nito.

Kinagabihan, bago pumutok ang araw sa silangan, dahan-dahan nagtungo si Ginoong X sa kwarto ng bagong kasal.

Bago siya umalis, naisip niyang surpresahin ang matalik na kaibigan at personal na magpaalam.

(At in fairness kay Ginoong X, dalisay talaga ang kanyang hangarin na magpaalam sa kaibigan.)

Nakikini-kinita nito na sobrang matutuwa ang kanyang kaibigan dahil sa pagiging *thoughtful* niya.

Bigla niyang hinawi ang kurtina na nakabalot sa kama ng mag-asawa.

At nagulat sa tumambad sa kanya......

Hindi.

Hindi po ganyan ang nakita niya in a perverted version.

Pramis.

Napaupo ang mag-asawa mula sa pagkakahiga at doon *naliwanagan* si Ginoong X

kung gaano ka-estupido ang kanyang ideya,

gaano man ito ka-*thoughtful*.

Inaiimagine ko na lang ang itsura niya habang natitila-tilapid ang dila at hindi makatingin nang diretso sa kanyang kaibigan na nagtatago sa likuran ng kanyang asawa.

(Hindi ko alam kung sino ang higit na traumatized sa nangyari. Hahaha! )

Pero syempre, dahil nandun na rin lang, lakas-loob na sinabi ni Ginoong X ang kanyang pakay. Ang pagpapaalam sa mahal na kaibigan at pag-asa na muli silang magkita sa malapit na hinaharap.

Sabay talikod.

Taon muli ang bibilangin bago nagharap ang dalawa at nakatingin sa mata ng isa't isa.

Sigurado ako, isang malaking life lesson ang natutunan ni Ginoong X dito.

At alam niyo na rin kung ano iyon.

Kaya naman sakaling makita nila ang isinulat kong ito....

How to Start an Online Business

Starting an online business is one of the best ways an entrepreneur can establish a business without shelling too much while building up his reputation at the same time. Many moms, seeking new ways to augment the family income, venture into online businesses as a second job.

With over 1 million Facebook users alone, the internet poses much opportunity for sellers. All you need is a computer and internet connection and you can run your dream business from the comfort of your own homes.

1. Know your business

As with any businesses, do your research and feasibility studies. But you can also start somewhere closer to home, in your passion. What piques your interest? What do you love most? Venturing into a business that is related to one of your passions will have a higher rate of success than venturing into one you don’t love at all. Find your niche.

2. Put up an online store

There are a wide range of platforms that you can choose from. Most of them have established themselves already in the buy and sell business and are offering their basic services for free.

Most shops have established themselves in popular social networking sites Multiply and Facebook. In both platforms, you can upload pictures of your wares and arrange them into albums. And since this is a social networking site, any new activity or updates in your page gets shown across your list of contacts or groups.

Sulit.com has a nice, although cluttered, site. You can post different items according to their categories but a buyer can always see all your items just by clicking a tab to go to your Sulit Store. It also has a feedback system which you can use to build your reputation as a seller (or buyer!). There is also a dedicated field so buyers can post negotiation messages. They can also opt to send you a Private Message if they’re the shy type. :D The downside is that unrelated items show up in your search because of the tags their sellers have attatched to them.

Ayosdito is a very minimalist buy and sell site. Unlike Sulit, all items, in their respective categories are listed in chronological order. This means that your ad can easily get buries under all the newly listed items. But of course buyers can always use the search button if they already have something specific in mind.

Ebay on the other hand is more business-like. You post your items as in any other sites. But here, if you choose to declare your item as brand new, used, defective etc, these have a certain definition that buyers can refer to. It also uses Paypal so the payment is very safe, as long as you’re transacting with a legitimate seller

3. Your Payment Options

As an online seller, you need to provide your buyers various options on how to pay for the items you're selling. Here are a few that you can use:

A Paypal payment is still considered as the safest way of sending money all over the world. you only need to sign-up. If you still haven't just click the banner, and it'll take to the registration page. To withdraw money, just add a bank account and have your card verified.

Another safe option is AlertPay, this is like Paypal too. Click the banner to sign-up.

For both Paypal and AlertPay, you can put their widget in the website and allow your buyers to order and pay for your items directly.

If you are unfamiliar with Paypal and AlertPay and find linking your bank account cumbersome, you still have other options that are equally effective and safe.

Both Globe and Smart offers their subscribers an option to use electronic money using the basic money transfer concept. Both utilize personal pins that users have to key-in before making a payment.

4. Your Delivery Options

There are a number of ways how you can deliver your item to your buyer.

a. Cash-on-Deliveries

For buyers who want to ensure that they get the item they're buying, this is the way to go. Of course it has its pros and cons that both parties have to consider.

Before, this is strictly a meet-up between the buyer and seller. Today, 3rd party CODs are in the wings of some shipping companies, like Xend, if not fully operational like Gcash Click.

b. Pick-ups

You can set a pick-up point, like your office or home. To protect your privacy, giveout your home address only to sure buyers. You can also utilize Google Maps in your website so your buyers can have an idea how to get to your location.

c. Couriers

There are lots of shipping companies that offer very affordable rates. A good choice are the ones that offer a badge that you can incorporate in your website. As you use them for your deliveries, your credibility as a seller goes up since the number of your successful deliveries are reflected in your badge.

1.    To be able to join the PhilPlans- Ang Aking Panata Photo Contest, one must be a PhilPlans' Facebook fan. He/she should like the PhilPlans fan page, so that he/she will automatically be a fan.

2.    The contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers, 18 years old and above with Philippine address.

3.    Participants can use Digital Single Lens Reflects (DSLR), Digital Point and Shoot cameras, Phone cameras, Lomo Cameras and the like for as long as the photo entry can be submitted via email with minimum file size of 1MB and is in high resolution.

4.    Participants can only submit one (1) photo as entry.

5.    Photographs of the participants should be an interpretation of their answer to any of the following questions:

How would you describe the bond between friends, family and other people?
Why do you push forward with your goals?
How do you give your 100% to something or to someone?
How do you sacrifice yourself for others?

6.    All entries must be original - shot by no other than the photographer himself and have not been previously published or exhibited in any printed, online media, campaign or photo contest prior to this contest.

7.    All photo entries must be in its simplest form, meaning no form of digital enhancement was made (e.g any manipulation through Photoshop, removal or addition of elements). Drastic alterations, watermarks, labels, borders, and the like are NOT ALLOWED.

8.    Participants should email their entries to promo@philplans.com.ph. Acceptance of entries will begin on October 28, 2011 and will end on November 29, 2011

9.    When emailing, photo entry should be accompanied by the following details: Photo Title/Caption, 1-2 sentences interpretation or description, camera used, full name of photographer, home address, telephone number/mobile number.

10.    Each entry will be screened for any form of malicious content by PhilPlans representatives before it will be uploaded on the PhilPlans Facebook and website gallery.
