Christmas Tree

2012-01-14T10:05:00.001-05:00

Quincy can take away your old Christmas trees via their DPW. All the residents need to do is leave the un-decorated tree out on the curb during the designated week and not have the tree covered in plastic. Here is one of the trees people have left for pickup. I thought it looked particularly pretty with the snow on it.

Snow on Sailor's Home Pond

2012-01-13T10:19:00.003-05:00

Other than a storm in October, this winter has been pretty snowless. So, on Jan 10th when we woke up to see a light dusting of snow, I went out and took a few pictures. This is Sailor's Home Pond, all icy and snowy.

Tee hee

2012-01-10T10:01:00.002-05:00

This picture was not made by me, this is of the city newsletter. I just added an arrow to show the funny part.

Once a week the city of Quincy sends out an email with the newsworthy items of the week. This week there was the mayor's inauguration. There also was a new group for family members of drug addicts called Learn to Cope that is starting Jan 10th. But, both those news articles together is quite funny.

Edward Gorey's house

2012-01-09T10:35:00.000-05:00

Taken in August - This is the front of the Edward Gorey house. I fell in love with Edward Gorey's art when I watched the t.v. show "Mystery" on PBS. (He drew the opening sequence.) In college, friends bought me Amphigorey and I realized how cool he really was. This year I let me daughter see some of the less macabre works of his -- she loved them too. So, we were really looking forward to our visit. (The Gorey house is now closed for the season. They open again sometime in April.)
