Almost every culture known to mankind at different periods in history has experienced and recorded the presence of strange unknown objects in the sky.
Even though 95% of all UFO reports are proven to be fallacious, every now and then there is the report of a sighting that sends a few shivers up and down even the most conservative spines.
Such an occurrence happened last month (July 7th) when a UFO disrupted air traffic over Xiaoshan Airport in Hangzhou, the capital city of east China’s Zhejiang Province.
All outbound fights were suspended after air traffic controllers spotted the fiery object skimming across the sky. The municipal government abruptly closed the airport, pending an investigation into the matter.
The UFO was detected in the sky about 9pm, causing flights to be re-routed to other airports in Ningbo and Wuxi cities.
The Chinese Internet lit up with possible theories concerning the identity and purpose of this strange object. They ranged from a hoax incurred by the US to an actual planetary invasion.
The airport soon resumed normal activities, but something lingered that altered the texture of everyday life and it is still there, hanging like an invisible cloud over conventional thoughts and understanding.
To date, there has been no public statement concerning the resolution of any investigation or scientific inquiry.
What WAS it?
Authorities claim the matter is still under investigation, but the reality is that:

The month and year are displayed in top right corner, and the number of nuclear explosions for each country appear next to the flags in the margins. The total is displayed in the bottom right corner.
The numbers reveal that, on average, 1 nuclear explosion occurred every 9.6 days during the 54-year period, with the greatest activity in 1958 and 1962.
The time map does not include the two nuclear tests conducted by North Korea in October 2006 and May 2009, nor does it include the dozens of subcritical nuclear tests (explosions that do not produce a sustained nuclear chain reaction) conducted in recent years by the US/UK and Russia.

The word derives from the ancient Greek (polus=many and daktulos=finger). A twelve-year-old boy named Ouyang Guangchun from Songpo village in southern China’s Hunan province was born with 12 fingers and 12 toes and has lived his life with all of his dactyls intact. His parents have declined to permit the surgery because they feel the extra digits do not in any way interfere with their son’s quality of life or his ability to use his hands or feet.

The boy is the only member his family to be so afflicted with extra fingers and toes. While it is not unusual for children to be born with additional digits, it is not common for those extra digits to look and function normally, which they do in Ouyang’s case.
“If people don’t look at his hands or feet carefully, they can hardly tell anything, as the extra digits are growing naturally along with the others,” his mother told the press.

China carries out almost three times as many executions as the rest of the world put together, according to the most conservative estimate by Amnesty International. In 2008, the group confirmed 1,718 executions through news reports and public documents, but many others are not reported. Some analysts say the figure may be above 6,000. The exact number is a state secret. Many executions are done on the road using vehicles called the death vans designed by Jinguan Motors. The makers of these vans say the vehicles and injections are a civilized alternative to the firing squad, ending the life of the condemned more quickly, clinically and safely. According to them, the switch from gunshots to injections is a sign that China "promotes" human rights now.

* There are already more Christians in China than Italy, and it's on track to become the largest center of Christianity in the world.

* Due to the extremely rapid expansion of Christianity in China, there are now an estimated 54 million Christians in the country, comprised of about 40 million Protestants and 14 million Catholics. Meanwhile, Italy has just 60 million people in total, of which 79% are Christian these days, which means Italy has 47.4 million Christians, that's 12% less than China.

* Over 4000 babies in China were named "Olympic Games" while the country was getting ready for Beijing 2008

* The Beijing Olympics was more than just a point of pride for China — it was such an important part of the national consciousness that over 4,000 children have been named for the event. Most of the 4,104 people with the name "Aoyun," meaning Olympics, were born around the year 2000, as Beijing was bidding to host the 2008 Summer Games. The vast majority of people named Aoyun are male. Names related to the Olympics don't just stop with "Olympics." More than 4,000 Chinese share their names with the Beijing Games mascots, the "Five Friendlies." Chinese have increasingly turned to unique names as a way to express a child's individuality.

* In a country with a population of 1.3 billion, 87 percent share the same family names.

* China uses 45 billion chopsticks per year

* In China, an estimated 45 billion pairs of disposable chopsticks are used and thrown away annually. This adds up to 1.7 million cubic metres of timber or 25 million fully grown trees every year.

* 200 million people in China live on less than $1 a day

* Poverty in China refers to people whose income is less than a poverty line of $1.25 per day. The poverty rate in China in 1981 was 64% of the population. Fortunately, this rate declined to 10% in 2004, indicating that about 500 million people have climbed out of poverty during this period.

* Over 700 million Chinese people drink polluted water

* China has 20% of the world's population but only 7% of global water resources. To make matters worse, 90% of cities' groundwater and 75% of rivers and lakes are polluted according to the World Bank. This means that 700 million people drink contaminated water every day.

* Ice Cream and Pasta may have been created in China

* A frozen mixture of milk and rice was invented in China around 200 BC, giving birth to ice cream. Also, a 4,000-year-old bowl of noodles was discovered at an archaeological site in western China, possible demonstrating that China invented pasta before Italy.

* Over 50% of counterfeit goods in the EU come from China

* In Europe, China was the main source country for intellectual property rights infringing articles with 54% of the total amount.CD/DVD was the top category of articles detained with a total amount of 79 million, which accounted for 44% of the entire amount, followed by cigarettes (23%) and clothing and accessories (10%).

* China is not free from Europe's medieval plague yet
In 2009 China ended a quarantine blockade around a remote northwestern town hit by pneumonic plague. The outbreak of the highly infectious disease killed three villagers around Ziketan Town in Qinghai province. But with no new infections reported for over a week, authorities decided to lift the blockade on the remote town of 10,000 in a heavily ethnic Tibetan area. China experiences sporadic outbreaks of the plague, which is typically spread by rodents and fleas and can pass easily between people.

* By 2025, China will build TEN New York-sized cities

* The scale and pace of China's urbanization promises to continue at an unprecedented rate. If current trends hold, China's urban population will expand from 572 million in 2005 to 926 million in 2025 and hit the one billion mark by 2030. In 20 years, China's cities will have added 350 million people—more than the entire population of the United States today. By 2025, China will have 219 cities with more than one million inhabitants—compared with 35 in Europe today—and 24 cities with more than five million people. Also, 40 billion square meters of floor space will be built - in five million buildings. 50,000 of these buildings could be skyscrapers - the equivalent of ten New York Cities.

His work often depicts him in apparently gravity-defying situations. Wei started off his performance series ‘Mirroring’ and later on took off attention with his ‘Falls’ series which shows the artist with his head and chest embedded into the ground. His work is a mixture of performance art and photography that creates illusions of a sometimes dangerous reality. Li Wei states that these images are not computer montages and works with the help of props such as mirror, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics.

Photographer Tim Whitby, who took the pictures, said the tarantulas are added live to the mixture to preserve their freshness. They are also fried and sold at roadside kiosks.
This particular tuk-tuk driver has even started offering spider-hunting tours.Mr Whitby said: ‘I bought a spider from a particularly greasy looking tray and pulled off a couple of legs. They tasted sweet and a little crunchy.’
Pepper trumpets, leek violins, celery bongos, cucumberphones, pumpkin drums – these are just a handful of instruments used by the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra to entertain audiences everywhere, with their organic music. This one-of-a-kind music group was born when its current members were students. At first they started playing vegetable instruments, as a joke, but quickly realized they might be on to something, and took their work more seriously.

The dozen members of the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra carve their instruments themselves, using whatever vegetables are available, at the location of their performance. After 12 years of making vegetable music, the group has learned what type of vegetables sound better in every country, judging by a range of factors, such as temperature and water content.
The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra needs 70 kilograms of fresh vegetables for every concert, and three hours to carve the instruments they use. But their music wouldn’t exist without modern technological equipment, like amplifiers or sophisticated microphones. Combined with the squeaking of cucumbers, crackling of cabbage leaves and banging of aubergines, they create a hypnotic type of music, described as something between techno music and whale songs.

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population)

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in aUniversity of Washington study.

Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzyshort term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a ! printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?
