FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 29, 2011 — AMR Corporation (“the Company”), the parent company of American Airlines, Inc. (“American”) and AMR Eagle Holding Corporation (“American Eagle”), announced that in order to achieve a cost and debt structure that is industry competitive and thereby assure its long-term viability and ability to continue delivering a world-class travel experience for its customers, the Company and certain of its U.S.-based subsidiaries (including American and American Eagle), today filed voluntary petitions for Chapter 11 reorganization in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

AMR’s Board of Directors determined that a Chapter 11 reorganization is in the best interest of the Company and its stakeholders. Just as with the Company’s major airline competitors in recent years, the Chapter 11 process enables American Airlines and American Eagle to continue conducting normal business operations while they restructure their debt, costs and other obligations.

This is yet another sad story about yet another airline going bankrupt. Many have already been history and can only be seen in die cast collectibles. AMR posted $24.7 billion in assets and $29.6 billion in debt. Seems that suddenly Malaysian Billionaire, Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan come into the picture. Another fail investment by the Malaysian billionaire.

In an aviation industry that's tough and struggling with fuel hikes, not many can claim/maintain profitable even the top 10 airlines. It's better to file it sooner then later. As for now fingers crossed on what will happen.

That's why its no surprise of big mergers/alliance and code sharing practices between airlines. At the end of the day, the sky is not always blue as we might think.

cheers,
the model airport, also the world’s largest, goes into operation
following 6 years of development and construction and an investment of
EUR 3.5 million. The airport is a reproduction of Hamburg’s
international airport and includes 40 aircraft that take off and land
and 90 vehicles that autonomously move around the runways on May 4, 2011

Basically it's a fb application online game. It's quite easy yet very addictive. I just started like a few days before new year 2010. Basically you are given a B737-800 with some money. Then you start to create a route of your preference. Then with the money you gain, you collect to buy other planes, create new routes, buy fuel, buy stocks in other airlines, advertise your route, and a lot more. It's just like managing your own airline! Trust me, it it addictive.

click here to view my airline ->
pilotHans airlines

a very good tool to calculate distance/route for the game ->
Airline Manager route/distance database

..................Cost of Fuel...........Billboard Advertising
Monday...........$400/$1,300................$5,000/$10,000
Tuesday......... $600/$1,000................$15,000/$17,500
Wednesday.......$800/$900..................$35,000/$40,000
Thursday........ $400/$1,300................$5,000/$10,000
Friday............ $600/$1,000................$15,000/$17,500
Saturday........ $800/$900..................$30,000/$45,000
Sunday.......... $800/$2,100................$35,000/$40,000

cheers,
chief executive officer pilotHans airlines,
pilotHans.
"The World's Local Airline"

Happy New Year 2010

Hi guys,

wishing you guys a happy new year 2010. Little did the crews and passengers know that it would be their last trip. Miraclely a few escaped and cheated dead! (a couple extending their honeymoon, and two friend who one had an expired passport, reminded me one of my best horror movie, Final Destiny.

RIP to the 228 people involved in this latest incident. My deepest condolence to the family involved.

Some even say that the black box may never be found (source : Black Box may never be found ) Personally I do hope they find the black box(its actually an orange color box,not black!) so we could at least know the reasons behind this disaster. Finding the black box in area with water depths to more then 4000meters....fuh, even my open water course support only till 30meters! Indeed robotic submarines would be used, but if they are passengers trapped inside, no rescue would be possible. Any survivors except those who didnt embark would be a miracle at this point of time.

Unanswered questions
1) Why did the plane crash?
2) Was it solely the bad weather ?
3) Did it explode in the air? Claims that fuel have been spotted may rule out this possibility as if an explosion had occurred, they would be no fuel spill. But latest news claims that the oil spill is not from the plane.
4) Did the plane lost all its electronics?
5) Did they use the wrong speed when entering the storm? a report in France suggested the pilots were perhaps flying at the "wrong speed" for the violent thunderstorm they flew into early on Monday before the Airbus A330's systems failed
6) Did the pilot go though the storm or did they tried to avoid it by turning around?
7) Some other pilots who were passing by around the same time of AF 447, reported bright flash for about 6seconds. What was it that they saw?

List of passengers
The airline company identified the nationalities of the victims as two Americans, an Argentinean, an Austrian, a Belgian, 58 Brazilians, five British, a Canadian, nine Chinese, a Croatian, a Dane, a Dutch, an Estonian, a Filipino, 61 French, a Gambian, 26 Germans, four Hungarians, three Irish, one Icelandic, nine Italians, five Lebanese, two Moroccans, three Norwegians, two Polish, one Romanian, one Russian, three Slovakian, two Spanish, one Swedish, six Swiss and one Turk.

the news on cnn -
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/americas/06/01/air.france.brazil/index.html

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/americas/06/02/brazil.france.plane.lightning/

Till then. It's indeed a sad week for Air France, passengers n crews of AF447 and family members. May they RIP in the bottom of the atlantic ocean.

At least 98 dead due to Indonesian plane crash

The sad news continues.....this time in Indonesia...... Jakarta, 20 MAY 2009: Yesterday, at least 98 people, including 14 children, were killed and scores injured today when an aging Indonesian military plane carrying soldiers and their families crashed into homes in East Java and burst into flames.

A total of 112 people were aboard when the US-made C-130 Hercules transport plane crashed in Magetan, about 520 kms east of capital Jakarta, officials said.
The crash destroyed four houses and killed two people in one of the houses. ;PTI

RIP.
....................................................................................................

Ironically, its surprising to see, despite this recent incident the Indonesian government is seeking the EU to release its ban on this planes to Europe. The fire destroyed the aircraft, which was identified by FedEx as a McDonnell Douglas MD-11.

Japan's Ministry of Transport said it was the first fatal crash at Narita, which opened in 1978.

Strong winds may have played a role in the crash, said Masaru Fujisaki, an airport official.

FedEx Express Flight 80 took off from Guangzhou, China, and crashed at Narita about 7 a.m. Monday (6 p.m. Sunday ET), said FedEx spokesman Matt Ceniceros. The Pilatus PC-12 was headed to Bozeman, Montana, but rerouted to Butte instead and crashed 500 feet short of the runway at Butte's Bert Mooney Airport, Fergus said.

The flight plan originated in Redlands, California, according to flight-tracking site FBOweb.com. She said there were no survivors, though she wouldn't confirm the number of people on board the plane.

No one on the ground was injured, Sheriff John Walsh said.

Eric Teitelman, Oroville's director of community development and public works, said the small airport has no control tower but because it has a "wide-open runway" and a self-service fuel system, it is a frequent stop for private aircraft.

Teitelman said at least one person -- an aircraft owner doing servicing work -- was at the airport Sunday when the Pilatus stopped for refueling.

The aircraft owner "met the pilot, saw the children running around," Teitelman said.

The plane, manufactured in 2001, was registered to Eagle Cap Leasing in Enterprise, Oregon, according to the FAA.

Martha Guidoni told CNN she and her husband witnessed the plane crash. She photographed one of the first images of the scene, which showed the cemetery in the foreground of a huge blaze. See a map of Butte, Montana »

"We were just taking a ride, and all of a sudden, we watched this plane just take a nosedive," she told CNN. "We drove into the cemetery to see if there was any way my husband could help someone, and we were too late. There was nothing to help."

Her husband, Steve Guidoni, who went to the scene of the crash, said the plane "went into the ground" and caught a tree on fire. Watch footage from scene and hear witness recount what he saw »

"I looked ... to see if I could see anybody I could pull out or anything, but there wasn't anything there, I couldn't see anything," he told CNN. "Some luggage [was] strewn around. ... [There were] some plane parts.

May those victims RIP

New LCCT master plan in Sepang, Malaysia.

Bye2 Labu LCCT Plan!

PETALING JAYA: KL International Airport’s new Low Cost Carrier Terminal, located about 1.5km from the main terminal, will be able to handle 45 million passengers yearly.

"With the new LCCT, KLIA would be able to handle up to 90 million passengers a year" - DATUK SERI BASHIR AHMAD
A new 4km runway will also be built with the LCCT, which is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2011.

Unveiling Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd’s (MAHB) plans for the new LCCT, its chief executive officer Datuk Seri Bashir Ahmad said work on the RM2bil project would begin in June.

“It will be designed to handle up to 45 million passengers a year and be connected to the main terminal via an extended Express Rail Link (ERL) and a new side road,” Bashir said at a press conference yesterday.

“With the new LCCT, KLIA would be able to handle up to 90 million passengers a year.”

The present LCCT would then be reverted into a cargo handling terminal.

The new LCCT, spread over 150,000 sq metres, would be larger than the main terminal with retail and food outlets to ensure passenger comfort.

There are plans for a 6,000-vehicle parking complex, parking bays for 70 planes and an integrated transport hub for buses and taxis.

“We are also taking the views of various airlines into account,” Bashir said, adding that AirAsia had requested at least 95,000 sq metres for the new LCCT.

Bashir said 10,000 sq metres of the space would go towards setting up AirAsia’s headquarters, which would be sited away from airport operation areas.

He said landing and aircraft parking fees and airport tax would most likely remain unchanged.

“The Government decides on all aeronautical charges and airport tax, not us,” he said, adding that MAHB would fund the project through loans.

“We have received letters of offers from several sources,” he said, adding that tenders would be called in the next few months.

Bashir added that KLIA’s master plan took into account long-term use of infrastructure and land to handle up to 120 million passengers annually. No offense but is that even possible? Might be the biggest LCCT in the world. Instead of LCCT why not call it a new terminal. The whole Low Cost Terminal sounds less standard and less glamour. Why not call it T3 or T4 or whatever. That would sound more professional. Anyway, congrats air asia. This means expanding fleet, and higher demand for cadet pilot intake! which is good news to a lot of aspiring pilot. Hope airasia or malaysian aviation in general, would maintain strong within these turbulence time.

Air Asia Cadet Pilot 2009 Intake

closing date : 13 March 2009 according to papers but not mentioned in website
http://jobs.airasia.com > go to to Others > 12.Cadet Pilot >

Responsibilities

Requirements

Malaysian citizen, aged between 18 and 28 as at date of application
Either:
(a)Passed SPM (or its equivalent that is recognized by the Malaysian Government) with at least A2 in English and Mathematics and B3 in Physics taken at one sitting. In this article, I will guide you on how ETOPS works in my simple words.

Nowadays, most of twin engine airliners are already certified so that they have to be able to fly normally within an hour of a landing strip/airfield/airport in the event of an emergency (any of the engines failure).Normally in Europe this is not a problem, but over the Oceans and at night in Africa where airfields often close, this could risk a problem (deserts are also considered like oceans). To allow/enable long distance flights with twin engine aircraft, a set of rules were developed by the Civil Aviation Authorities of the world. At first, aircraft have to be built and designed with proven engines. Hours are fed back and monitored by manufacturers and authorities. Before these operations commence the airline has to be certified and assessed as well.

I give one example, the Atlantic Ocean. It would be impossible to fly over this huge ocean using the normal hour restriction. It could be crossed with implementing a two hour restriction (ETOPS-120 rating on its entry into service. ETOPS-180 is only possible after 1 year of trouble-free 120-minute ETOPS experience), however a lot of areas would not be able to be crossed (if only ETOP-120 is used) as they are outside the range of the airports/airfields. For any airline to be able to cross the Mighty Atlantic ocean, it would require at least 138minute of ETOPS certification(ETOPS 120/138 was introduced to tackle this issue)

One more example, we take a flight From USA to Hawaii. Any airline will require 3hours certification as Hawaii to west coast of USA is estimate around 6hours of flying. That’s why ETOPS-180 was introduced. So if and airlines is not ETOPS-180 certified, it will have to use a long route via north neared to Greenland and Iceland.

Examples of ETOPS rating are as below:-
• ETOPS-75
• ETOPS-90
• ETOPS-120/138
• ETOPS-180/207 (which covers 95% of the earth's surface)

p/s did you know ETOPS famous acronym ="Engines Turn Off, Passengers Swim" and "Engines Turn or Passengers Swim"

Aviation Joke #1 Do Not Take This Flight!

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. This is Captain Hans speaking. On behalf of my crew I'd like to welcome you aboard British Airways flight 606 from New York to Manchester. We are currently flying at a height altitute of 37,000 feet midway across the Atlantic Ocean. If you look out of the windows on the starboard side of the aircraft, you will observe that both the starboard engines are on fire. If you look out of the windows on the port side, you will observe that the port wing has fallen off. If you look down towards the Atlantic ocean, you will see a little yellow life raft with three people in it waving at you. That's me your captain, the co-pilot, and one of the air stewardesses. This is a recorded message. Have a good flight!"

Categories of Aviation Enthusiast

Aviation is a kind of art that only a true aviator or an aviation enthusiast would appreciate.
