You can apply sunscreen and sunless tanner and have a beautiful glowing tan without the sun exposure. Just be sure to evenly distrubute and don't over apply the self tanner and end up looking a shade or orange. If you plan to be swimming or playing volleyball or surfing, you may want more coverage because a suit that covers more of you also tends to hang on, where flimsier, actually make that skimpier, things might fall off or out.

With board shorts, boyshorts and hipster bikinis, we can buy suits that fit even in the middle of a plus size day or PMS fat attack. A well-cut one-piece can hide and camoflauge an assortment of figure flaws. Contrary to what some experts will tell you, large floral designs do not minimize a heavy body, and you don’t have to wear black either. Depending on where the chubbiness lies, a smaller-coverage suit may turn out to be more flattering than the high-coverage suit you didn’t want to buy anyway. No one can possibly see all the lumps and bumps as the girl in the bathing suit in the mirror does, so pick the least worst suit you can find, and get out there and play!

Facelifts are great procedures that can dramatically change the sagging jowl and neck area. Contrary to the perception of many, a facelift does little for most of the face. A facelift is really a neck procedure and is a facial procedure if you consider the neck and jawline the lower third of the face. By moving loose skin and deeper sagging tissues back, a sharper neck angle and straighter jawline is recreated.

In many facelift patients, a majority of whom are women, there is a tendency for a mild chin deficiency. A shorter chin shortens the length of the jawline and makes a neck look shorter and more full. In these patients, a chin implant can complement the effect of a facelift as the jawline becomes a little longer and more straight without any loose skin sagging over it. It certainly creates the appearance of a better jawline. The use of a chin implant with a facelift in fairly common in my practice with as many as one-third of facelift patients needing or getting chin augmentation at the same time.

The other benefit to chin augmentation at the time of the facelift is that it adds little time and no extra incisions. A full facelift always uses a small incision under the chin to suction fat and tighten the platysmal muscles. Through this same incision, it is very easy and quick to go 'north' to the front part of the chin bone to place the implant. A limited facelift (e.g., Lifestyle Lift) would require an 'extra' incision in this area that would not normally be used.

Assessing a patient prior to a facelift with computer imaging will clearly demonstrate whether a chin implant would be a complement to a facelift procedure.

Making a face more square or angular can be done through bone augmentation, fat reduction, or both. I have found that there are two types of patients who come because they want a more defined facial look. First is the male patient (usually younger)who does not necessarily have a full or fat face but wants more definition at the defining points of the face. In some cases, I call this seeking the 'male model look'. The second type of patient is male or female who does have a fuller face and simply wants to be 'less round'. Their goals are not quite so precise as the first patient. Usually they are younger as well but can be middle-aged also.

The defining bony points of the face are the cheeks, chin, and jaw angles. Facial fat points are the cheeks and neck. Those searching for the 'male model look' are usually looking at the trio or combination of cheek, chin and jaw angle implants. The thinner the face is, the more profound the result will be with this triple implant approach. When you are placing three implants, or simultaneously changing three facial prominences, it is always best to not to overdo it. Large implants in all three places can create a very unnatural or artificial look.

Cheek implants never look too good if they are too large. Subtle cheek changes are more natural.The proper size of a chin implant is easier to know because the amount of chin deficiency can be measured in profile. Most men should consider a more square chin implant style as that is often what this type of patient is trying to achieve. Jaw angle implants can rarely be too large as they are manufactured small anyway and the jaw muscles and thickness of tissue over the jaw angles can camouflage a great deal of the implant.

Those trying to deround a face must use a different approach. Fat removal in the neck (liposuction) and in the cheeks (buccal lipectomies) are an important element of derounding and is often done with a chin implant. In rare cases, cheek implants may be considered but they should be small as buccal fat removal will create the visual impression of some minor cheek augmentation as the area below the cheek moves inward. This type of facial derounding is more subtle than squaring a face with the most dramatic changes occurring in the neck and less in the cheek and side areas of the face.

I'm sure you've heard about the importance of keratin to your skin health and the look of your skin. Keratin is important to keep your skin looking good, so it must be good to find keratin in your skin care products right?

First though, lets have a look at what keratin actually is.
Keratin is a "structural protein". It is tough and fibrous and helps hold your skin together firmly, and prevent sagging. As a structural component of our skin keratin has a major role in skin health. All good. This is found in a number of areas in our bodies, like our nails and teeth as well as our skin. As you can see keratin can be both hard and soft. It's hard in nails, for instance, and is soft in skin.

Keratin in our skin forms below the surface, and gradually works it's way up to the surface where it forms a protective layer. It is formed by what are known as keratinocytes, which are living cells which exist in our skin.

So isn't it a good thing if we see keratin on the label of our skin care products and anti aging products?

That depends. You see not all keratin is created equal, and some keratin is better than other keratin. You need the right type in your skin care products, or it won't do very much at all. I mentioned that keratin is found in various parts of the body, including the nails and skin. So most keratin that is used in anti aging skin care is derived from animal sources that contain keratin. In particular hooves, horns and feathers.

All these animal products are basically melted down and subjected to high temperatures, and extracted from these animal products for use in skin care products. However the problem is that the process used to extract the keratin, and specifically the heat to which it is subjected, changes it's form by a process known as hydrolyzation.

Hydrolyzation basically means that the chemical properties of the ingredient are changed. And for keratin, the hydrolyzation means that it is changed to a form that is no longer useful to our skin.

So is keratin in our skin care products good? No, not if it's been extracted by use of the traditional extraction process and it's been hydrolyzed.

Wait a moment though, because that's not the end of the story.
